There's no "unmasking" you weirdo. He's just a regular judge trying to administer the law. This is the executive trying to eliminate any check on his power by attacking the co-equal judicial branch. To end the rule of law and replace it with rule by executive fiat. Trump has done this consistently with the judiciary--and the media, for that matter. Every judge that inconveniences him is smeared and attacked and threatened to discourage the next one. The "dismantling" you're cheering about is the dismantling of democracy.3 points

Quantifying Why Democrats Support Open Borders A Center for Immigration Studies report released today quantifies why Democrats support, or are indifferent to, open borders. The figures underlying the study may stun even the strongest proponents of border security. The net effect of increases in both legal and illegal immigration in the 2020 Census shifted 17 House seats and 17 Electoral College votes, resulting in a net gain of 14 seats in Blue States — ten seats shifting from red states and four from battleground states. That Democratic net gain is greater than the respective electoral votes of all but ten states. In part because districts with high percentages of noncitizens tend to vote Democrat, “of the 24 districts where one in five adults is not an American citizen, 20 were won by a Democrat in 2022. In contrast, the Democrat won in just five of the 54 districts where 98 percent of adults are citizens.” Millions of illegal aliens have flooded the country during the Biden presidency. An indeterminate number — estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands — have been flown into the country by the Biden administration and deposited in certain jurisdictions. Increasingly, Democrats needn’t be concerned about persuading American voters. They’ve gained electoral votes by the addition — strategic or otherwise — of illegal immigrants. This is a “fundamental transformation” of the country. https://www.congress.gov/119/meeting/house/117827/documents/HHRG-119-JU01-20250122-SD011.pdf2 points

Yep, boring Joe Biden who oversaw the best pandemic recovery in the G7 and handed trump back a robust economy. Boring, sleepy Joe, who shaped policy like a rational adult instead of destroying global markets with toddler tantrums and 2AM toilet tweets. You can bet those aging MAGA faithful who were in retirement and looking to retire are not going to be happy about extending or rebooting their careers through a likely recession. But hey, they can all go pick fruit once Trump has destroyed the agricultural labor pool. Other jobs will be hard to keep and hard to get.2 points

If as Trump says, tariffs will raise 6 trillion, that will be the biggest tax increase since 1982, or 1968 depending on the source. https://www.forbes.com/sites/katharinabuchholz/2025/04/04/trumps-tariffs-biggest-tax-hike-since-1982/ And yet Republicans will still increase the debt by over 9 trillion over the next ten years. https://338canada.com/polls.htm The 338 reported the poll from March 29. It looks. It's been about 25 polls since then, none of which show the CPC ahead. It would be easy to look back and compare predictions. What do you think?2 points

One poll. From the article; Surveys released by seven other major pollsters (Leger, Nanos, Mainstreet Research, Pollara, Angus Reid Institute, Liaison Strategies, Ekos) all continue to show the Conservatives trailing by as much as nine points. In any case, I like the idea of a tightening race possibly culminating in a minority government. Hopefully the NDP regain some ground, they should if they can make hay out of the fact Carney is aiming to become a tax collector as opposed to having been a professional tax avoider in the private sector. Talk about a conflict of interest.2 points

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/conservatives-lead-first-time-federal-223147507.html Conservatives in the lead for first time in federal campaign, new poll shows It has taken a lot of stupid comments, lies, gaffes, the revealing of several of Carney's conflicts of interest, and Carney getting caught with his hands in the US gov't and China cookie jars during this trade war, plus a lot of near-perfect campaigning from Poilievre, in order for the polls to start tilting back towards the PC's in the upcoming election. No doubt the Nanos polls, controlled by ex-LPOC staffer Alexander Nanos, will continue to skew the overall polling results in favour of Nanos's leader of choice, but no intelligent human takes those into consideration. Theoretically this new conservative lead would still translate into another LPOC minority gov't (and another pre-election windfall of LPOC-directed taxpayer money for our MSM to help them in the next election), but I think the polls will swing even further after the debate. Poilievre has a ridiculous number of arrows in his quiver, and Carney has so many things to answer for, that no moderator will be able to deflect every topic away from his laundry list of lies and conflicts of interest. Poilievre will beat Carney like a rented mule on that stage. CBC will no doubt do their best to make the debate (and this election) another referendum on climate change they'll back Carneys false assertions that the PM and Finance Minister had almost nothing to do with Canada's success at avoiding the recession that the US experienced in 2008, because they love the $2,000,000,000.00 taxpayer dollars that the LPOC gave them to help them in these elections the NDP, Bloc and Greens will no doubt see Poilievre as the guy guy to beat, and gang up like the bunch of jackals they are but PP is the most skilled debater that Canada has had in the last 50 years.1 point

https://www.foxnews.com/us/domestic-terrorism-hits-tesla-drivers-dealers-former-fbi-field-boss-warns-could-get-worse Suspected Tesla arsonists hit with federal charges in acts of 'domestic terrorism': AG Three individuals were charged in federal cases after they used Molotov cocktails to violently attack Tesla properties around the country in acts of "domestic terrorism," Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced Thursday. "The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended," Bondi said. "Let this be a warning: if you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars." All three face charges carrying a minimum penalty of five years and up to 20 years in prison, the department said. Adam Matthew Lansky, 41, on Jan. 20, threw approximately eight Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership located in Salem, Oregon, federal prosecutors said. One vehicle was completely destroyed, and several others were damaged. Lansky also threw a "large heavy object through the dealership window," they said. At the time of the attack, he was armed with a suppressed AR-15 rifle. Lucy Grace Nelson, also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, 42, was arrested in Loveland, Colorado, on Jan. 29 after attempting to light Teslas on fire with Molotov cocktails, prosecutors said. Nelson was later found in possession of materials used to produce additional incendiary weapons, including a container of gasoline, bottles, and wick materials, on Feb. 24, prosecutors said. This is no different from this. It's called DOMESTIC TERRORISM.1 point

It's funny how among the right the word 'weak' is a common theme. A couple generations cowering about the might of Russia that's revealed as a paper tiger and they now use the militaristic term allegorically to the economy. After decades of doing pretty well in world of free trade, with the advent of the Mango Mor0n's unilateral change back to 19th century protectionism, they bawl about the "weakness" of not predicting that as if it was an oncoming asteroid noticed decades before and ignored. Canada was never a 'manufacturing' powerhouse, I grew up hearing my Dad and my Grandfather proclaim how the lack of manufacturing and secondary processing were major flaws in Canada, how we relied far too much on raw resources. I worked a couple years building trucks under the old Auto Pact, and NAFTA was what made the Cdn auto industry. Entire programs were implemented to skill our workers away from simplistic assembly line jobs and leave those to other countries where they could be done cheaper and more efficiently. And those countries became new trade partners to market to. So WTF is with the m0ronic idea we can only benefit by exporting more raw materials and reclaiming manufacturing we never had? Rather than manufacturing things others don't make and using what we have to encourage new opportunity. AI, communication and data delivery, chip design and production, etc. FFS if Ontario wants car plants, arrange some partnership to take a closed one and use someone like electroMechannica to build small EVs w Cdn batteries that have 150-200km range to get to work, the grocery store, to soccer practice in. They will sell, and even if the US tariffs them - the US automakers will not build them as their profit margins aren't good enough for their greedy hands.1 point

This is where I kind of turned away from the federal conservatives. The PM's office has always been powerful, but under Harper it solidified into the state it's in today. Mop head said he'd change that, but he was just as bad but dumber, so actually probably worse. My MP is Michael Chong. He is a common-sense, principled Conservative and won my everlasting respect standing up to Stephen Harper (don't even remember for what now) and lost his Cabinet position over it. That's when I realized the individual MP barely matters. The election is about the Party Leader.1 point

Are we? At least two provinces are seriously considering separation from the divisions are huge. We're barely functional. In fact if trump hadn't come along I would be genuinely worried. Like I said., Jan 6 pardoners complaining about torched Tesla's is pot calling kettle. I don't support the vandalism but it's hilarious seeing Trumpsters suddenly care about the rule of law.1 point

@gatomontes99 I don't blame or judge you for ignorance (everyone has gaps in knowledge) but I certainly do blame you for for combining ignorance with being a smug, arrogant douche. And now also for being a gutless weasel. Since you don't have the integrity to admit that you were mistaken, rude and arrogant while being ass backward--I'll do your Google University homework for you. For the folks playing along at home: This is you "Diamonds have a very low price elasticity. Increased prices result in severe drops in demand because a diamond is not necessary." This is reality CFI The lower the price elasticity of demand, the less responsive the quantity demanded is given a change in price. When the price elasticity of demand is less than one, the good is considered to show inelastic demand. When the quantity demanded does not respond to a change in price, it is said that demand is perfectly inelastic. If an inelastic good has its price increased, it will lead to increased revenues because each unit will be sold at a higher price. This is reality - Investopedia "Usually, unique goods, such as diamonds, are inelastic because they have few if any substitutes."1 point

I have a degree in economics, dummy. That's why it takes about a half second to recognize that you have no farking clue what you're taking about. This is you: "Diamonds have a very low price elasticity. Increased prices result in severe drops in demand because a diamond is not necessary." You literally have the definition of price elasticity backward. You googled it, but you didn't understand it. And even a basic course someone would have taught you about the Veblen effect, where paradoxically price increases to luxury goods can even increase demand. Diamonds are a classic example of an inelastic luxury. You Google some nonsense and then pop into this forum strutting around telling people to take a course while you are farking drowning while everyone watches. A Dunning Krueger case study right before our eyes. Tell you what. Why don't you re-enroll in Google University and go search up 1. The definition of price elasticity, and 2. The price elasticity of diamonds. Then come back here and post them in the thread. I expect we'll all see again that you're not man enough to own your mistakes, but will instead tuck your tail between your legs and slink off.1 point

Trumps have discovered social engineering. Openness and acceptance of LGBTQ is regarded by them as social engineering, not a common value. Did liberals make a mistake on that one ? Objectively, how much does the government get to decide what is a 'common value' ? Or, furthermore, to interpret recognized value-words like 'Freedom' ? Freedom seems to mean you can buy a message and broadcast it whether or not it is true. Nobody would argue that. But it doesn't mean freedom of equal access to education or health. Postmodern Republicanism truly is a wonder to behold. It will lead back to a kind of 19th century pastoralism, I suspect. Maybe with a monarchy though.1 point

As our live experience shows these days, the greatest danger is from within: a twin government party gets corrupted, falls into authoritarianism then gets to power and begins to dismantle even weak vestiges of democracy. At this time, in my view this is the greatest vulnerability and risk. Flip a coin democracy or a slow slide into tyranny influenced by any number of random and instant factors. Proportional representation would deal with that. But granted, is not the only one. The next highest risk is the influence of big capital and irresponsible advertising ranging all the way to malevolent propaganda.1 point
