  4. Multifaith public ceremonies tend to omit Jesus' name. I think there's a prohibition for Jews to attend "Christian" ceremonies, so they do that as a matter of course. There's no cite in the OP (I peeked) so it's hard to tell if this is true or just somebody that said something. If it was actually a "funeral" then one would think the family would be at least consulted. But the poster who gave his personal account is a noted culture warrior who uses his personal scripture to rationalize public policy so who knows.

  6. It is tragic. I don't know who offered the prayer, but the person who offered a prayer started by addressing the god who is known by many different names. He ended with an Amen but no mention of Jesus Christ. Obviously this was a politically correct prayer meant to try to appease all religions. But not a true prayer. Praying to all the gods is not a Christian prayer. According to the Bible, the only access to the true God is through Jesus Christ. That is why Christians end their prayers with In Jesus name, Amen.

  17. This is an old chestnut for folks arguing against the social safety net, but I've yet to see any reasonable explanation for a mechanism that creates dependency. Presumably, there was a time in your life in which you made a lot less money, but could still meet your basic needs for food and shelter. Did achieving that basic, subsistence lifestyle demotivate you? Did you have any less ambition or less desire to elevate your status or acquire more luxury? Did you want less? Or, alternatively, you could quit your job now and move down into poverty, meeting your basic needs with assistance, but little else. Is there any appeal to that? Is it a struggle to avoid doing making that choice and what keeps you from it? Those are largely rhetorical questions and I'm pretty confident that I know the answers. They're probably the same for you as they are for me. So my question is why do you think the majority of people would have different answers? People with little or no income may be dependent on aid to meet basic needs, but I don't see that meeting those needs creates further dependency? And I certainly don't see how it would discourage or demotivate people who want more. For anyone who wants more, it's a safe platform from which to pursue goals.

  18. "impossible choices"... wow, you are quite the drama queen. So when I go to restaurant and order an carnitas enchilada and they tell that they are out of carnitas but they have beef or chicken... that's an impossible. choice. Its a good thing that you do not work in my office. Your constant use of unproven assumptions is both sad and comical .

  19. Like I said I spent some time up north (you chose to ignore this) and spent some time with the Dene they had oral traditions going back hundreds of years about migration , they told these stories to archeologists who went to the places they mentioned and found proof. Now that alone offers more scientific evidence then the entire bible

  21. Dumb question. The correct question is, how many violent crimes are being committed by gang bangers in comparison to shootings in schools and business that are not committed by gang bangers? Another good question is, how many shootings in schools and businesses are committed by gang bangers?

  22. First hand accounts? Quick question, are you a bible believing Christian or just haven't done any research on how we got the Bible? Other than Paul (and not even all of his letters are considered authentic) there are zero eyewitness accounts in the new testament, and that is according to scholarly consensus both Christian and secular

  24. None of the above, i was addressing this portion of your comment...Those that did vote for Justin are attracted by trinkets and shinny stuff, nor do they hold the same moral values as conservative voters, they have a high tolerance for lies , scandals, corruption, inaction on most files.... As for not voting, I'm all for making voting mandatory, that being said i did not vote last election becasue of flip flopper changing his mind on what i thought were important issues, in order to gather some votes. Mad max was off the rails, and well the left is the left in my mind is a full loaf short. So i did not vote... First off voting is not a form of patriotism in the way it is done today. Very little patriotism in Canada.....Patriotism in my opinion is doing what is best for the nation, putting the nation ahead of everything, individual needs, special interest groups, getting re elected, it is about showing leadership all the time, upholding the office of PM to the highest standards, making decisions that might prove unpopular, becasue they are what the nation needs. To serve the nation itself, rather than making it about getting re elected or handing out shinny stuff...It is about uniting the country, not dividing it into millions of pieces. It's about getting butterflies when you stand up for our nations anthem, or see our nations flag being raised in the morning, it is about caring about the entire country not just certain groups, colors, or religions... Sorry for the rant, i know you know what patriotism is , you served this nation and asked for nothing in return...That is what patriotism is. That is what this nation is missing.

  25. Agreed - but now we have to rush and it's unlikely that will happen,. I suspect that either there will be poor municiple planning or the provinces will step in and force some one size fits all solutiosn on the municipalities. We (the voters) need to be holding people to account better from the get go and deamanding that processes are quick and efficient yet sufficiently thorough. Not insanely long - not stupidly short. At the end of the day we let ourselves get distracted i think and then there's a problem and blam - we're in a mess.

  27. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that you embrace pluralistic society. We’re all better for it. Cherry picking the bible is the way forward for Christianity to fit into today’s more tolerant society. I just don’t think the view is very biblical. Hopefully, you will also take this view with LGBTQ folks in the future.

  30. Sure. It should be easy. Does it go bang even after we abuse it a bit? That's a good pistol But the problem is the procurement process. And that's a good example of how 'taking your time to do it right' can get out of hand. I noticed in the paper this morning bc estimates it's got to build 25 percent MORE homes than it ever has per year for 5 years to prevent the housing market from becoming utterly unaffordable and to have enough homes for people at all. So, now because the process was excessively lengthy before, they're going to have to cut corners and go ultra fast now. So we go from too slow to too fast because of the problems that created. If we'd focused on making the process more efficient in the first place so it was faster but still thorough then we'd be a lot better off.

  35. And their voters are really big on honesty and keeping your word, so they can't just promise and then not deliver like liberals do. It is actually more difficult to be a conservative leader than a liberal one in canada. Liberal voters are a lot more forgiving as long as you win. And ndp voters never expect you to win so it's easy to keep THEM happy

  37. This is part of in interview with Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, author of "The New Abnormal". He is a professor of medical ethics who has been vocal from the beginning about the violations of ethics that have taken place. And he was censored for speaking up. In his book, he expands more on this topic of medical ethics, but this 7 min excerpt from the interview basically lays out what you just said.

  40. I've been thinking about this comment. And topic. The idea of walkable, transit-friendly, human scale communities is, of course, a pleasant vision. What makes me doubt the underlying motive of them is that they are not installing new parks, recreational facilities, better transport or up-to-date amenities for this pleasant vision. So far the infrastructure for 15 min. cities consists of barriers, surveillance cameras and restrictive technologies.

  41. Government played a HUGE role in creating the problems by sanctioning the BRUTALITY of SLAVERY and LAND DISPOSSESSTION of native Americans. The US government is RESPONSIBLE for much of their misery and has an OBLIGATION to FIX IT. You anecdotes may or may not be relevant, but if they're not, it doesn't change WHAT IS.

  42. historically however, the Indians in Canada do support what Jesus said Canada founded on 22 June 1603 by French missionaries who then had 156 years to convert the Indians to Christ and the French were very successful in this endeavour hence the Mohawks who saved Canada at Queenston Heights on 13 October 1812 whom panicked the Americans into fleeing when they heard the Mohawk war cries the Americans thinking that the Mohawks were still vicious pagan savages when in fact the Americans were decieved because the Grand River Mohawks were actually Christian farmers, fearsome pagan savages no more psyops won the day

  43. Yes it does demonstrate a lot of things, Canadians can be bought with a few trinkets or little shinny things, Canadians do not care about what the government does in power good or bad, that they don't share the morals and values that conservatives hold, that have a high tolerance for corruption, lies and deceit... That patriotism for ones country is no longer something to strive for, it is who can fill their own pockets first... and that Canadians don't mind being divided over and over again...

  44. Lets make this clear.... I do not possess your passion on this topic. I know, someone says covid, and you are instantly fired up, foaming at the mouth, and ready for a fight. I shrug my shoulders and move on. I have an immediate and allergic response to hyperbole no matter who says it? Understood? Internet forum posters (which you seem to fit this pattern) always are claiming that the end is near... What this end is.. they can never say. Nothing just happens.. nahh.. They have to use words like revolution, slam, vicious, earth-shaking, revelation, conspiracy. The traffic light at xyz street failed... it can't be that simple. It is an omen of things to come.. or more likely, it is the xyz party or leader conspiring against those poor, unsuspecting souls who are simply working hard and are now being shat upon.

  45. We can try to see how it works though, it may not be such a formidable task as catching the elusive but still putative, "intermediate host". Quoting the good doctor, "He said that the team was still analyzing the data and that it had not intended for its analysis to become public before it had released a report". Right. It just unfortunate that it became public by being posted on a public platform. Next it became more public with someone (The Atlantic, why be shy) stumbling on it, accidentally - of was an unfortunate tip? And now it became way more public, with Nature Reports reprinting an opus based on an invalid, withdrawn evidence. Take that out, and there's nothing in it. No news. But wait, more to come. Now with the media storm raised out of nothing vacuum, reputable editions will be strongly influenced to publish it, may even cause a race. As they published the claimed results of the Russian vaccine, amazing (on paper, that will suffer anything you put on it) till it hit the reality. And if, that sounds more like then, it is published, the good doctors would spread it around, and push it as it happened already as the only evidence that has been peer reviewed. The cycle complete: from vacuum nothing to peer certified and stamped "evidence". In other words, of course not intended we have to take good doctors on their professional word, but it looks very much like they are using a developing public hype (created entirely accidentally or ...) to give weight to a premature report based on invalid, at the time of release, evidence. And that wouldn't be the first, one can recall another well known good doctor procuring a research with certain predetermined conclusion, then citing it, as you guessed, "peer reviewed evidence". A coincidence, "co-occurrence"? Or a pattern? Or, already a practice? How do we know? It is sad, and scary to see what state of integrity some branches of science are coming to these days. It cannot work and it won't work. And it certainly carries problems and risks, in a number of ways, to the society.
