Yes, the show has been and will likely continue to be a liberal. I don't recall a lot of conversation about the critical urgency to diversify our trade away from the US though.... Hindsight is great and doubt if we'd had a conservative government anything would be different in regards to our trade with the US. Depending on which market you're in.... I live in Vancouver and SF home sales are down YOY. There is a want/need for more housing but developers/builders are not going to get active until the demand is there. I agree though.... we (and the US) are significantly lacking in housing availability.

They have plenty of alternatives, plenty of lumber producing nations out there , the real question is how much are they willing to pay....Canadian lumber is cheap because it only travels short distances, American has access to more domestic lumber but they need time to expand that industry.... Canada has been actively looking for new customers for it's lumber but to replace the US orders is a tall order...right now US customers are going to pay much more for their new homes, but Canadian lumber producers are going to have to reduce their output, once Americans find other alternatives... US is always going to be our biggest customer, I personal think that we should be looking at restricting the amount of lumber sold to the US...i mean we have been accused of dumping it on the US market, it will either force the Americans to find other sources, or come back to the table and agree of less tariffs.......Sell our lumber here at home, and other nations....we need to start building homes like everyone talks about....

A random observation wrt the hatred directed at jews: Media reporting of some of the assaults is an interesting study if you take the time or have the inclination to look into individual attacks on Jews. Here it is Zoom in on the attacker, is that the reason it was omitted? Maybe just me but another point of interest is that in all the (albeit random) cases I've looked into I see that the attackers are not "fighters" by any reasonable definition of the word and there seems to be no shortage of people standing about with cameras filming the action. There was a time when immediate intervention in such things would have been far more likely than reaching for a cell phone. In fact, were you to stand back and simply video the action you would have been viewed as a loathsome creature. That's clearly no longer the case and we're now (collectively) OK with that it seems. I think we've lost a piece of ourselves in the bargain though. If the statistics I hear are close to true, it seems that well under 1% of the population now have the skills (at a basic level) or inclination to intervene in cases of obvious need. The presence of children here is what adds a "sense of urgency" IMO. Not sure what to make of that but somehow I feel disturbed by it. It also explains (at least to me) why military and police recruiting / retention is so challenging now. The people inclined to throw themselves into such things have always made up the recruiting demographic that used to run at about 5%. Small number I know but we're losing ground if the new number is truly under 1%. Artificially expanding the traditional demographic parameters through targeted / DEI hiring will not fix the problem, it will make it worse. Perversely (to some) getting into the stream needs to be significantly more difficult, more selective... and yes, more elitist in terms of competency. Running fat farms prior to basic training may be inclusive but it doesn't seem to be "working out" too well and I'm inclined to say "I told ya so."
