  1. Biden is f!ckin Einstein in comparison! a wet napkin is relatively smart next to Trump. Biden was behind one of the biggest infrastructure programs in the last century. renewable energy is now the second largest provider of electricity in the US and growing. the economy recovered faster than any other country from COVID inflation and is now on steroids. 10M jobs were created. salaries have outpaced inflation. millions more have health care coverage. family net worth spiked. he wasn't perfect. the southern border was a mess. more importantly the president does f)ck all anyways. its his team that does the work and comes up with the plans and often the very ideas. Biden was surrounded by a team of smart cookies. Trump fired all of his team many times his first term and now its just TV prompt readers.

  3. it astonishes me that you cannot see that Trump inflames this so-called culture war as a complete and total distraction from his true purposes - which are his power and his brand. He doesn't give a f*ck about DEI, or transgenderism, or abortion, or any other facet of the culture war. They are just convenient control techniques for his ignorant base. I've said before - his method is "outrage and distract" - so he can go about his true purposes

  4. So... now you cheer on your government targeting a private business for retribution, reneging on a contract with them... because f&ck Musk? This has nothing to do with principled tit-for-tat retaliation to a Nation States Tariffs. Herbie? Not really.

  8. If I were advising Poilievre, I would suggest less visibility with alternate policies and more of a consensual tone supporting the government. Don’t fight the falling poll numbers. The public is in no mood for division in our political ranks at this moment of peril - there will be ample time for normal politicking to resume down the road. Clement Attlee loyally served in Churchill’s government right through WWII and still gave him an absolute hiding in 1945. In terms of style, the crisis is a good opportunity for Poilievre to soften his image and sound less partisan. Bring us more of the guy we heard at Mulroney’s funeral.

  9. Trump is a bully. He is very hostile to Canada because he doesn't like Canada's leaders. He doesn't understand how the world works and thinks he alone can change the world so that every other country are slaves to his country. He was on the news again this morning insulting Canada. He treats America's closest ally like an enemy of some kind. He is doing great harm in the world. He is a psychopath and displays hate constantly. The next four years will be difficult. It is very unpleasant to listen to him.

  10. I'm not insulting you. I'm just pointing out what you are. How is a supposed Canadian who stands for Trump against Canada not a cuck traitor? Embrace what you are, cuck!

  14. Harris wins, and it's 11 days into her presidency. Where would the US be at this point? - Well, we know for damn sure the borders would be wide open and citizens would either be entrenched in their properties or running for their lives. - The IRS would expand to a million armed agents and every f*cking adult citizen in this country would already be scheduled for an audit sometime this year. - We know that DEI would take front and center in every school throughout America, with time slots for gender surgery already open. Just imagine...

  16. Absolutely!! Canada is the weak link and a threat to not only its own national security but U.S. national security as well. Again it's a security issue. And you're right, so is Greenland. During WW2, the U.S. made a deal with Denmark that the U.S. would insure that Greenland would stay in allied hands. They built military bases and everything else that went with it to make sure the Nazi's didn't take it over and become a threat to the U.S. mainland.

  17. America is being ruthless with Canada because Canada is the weak link in Fortress North America America is contesting the Arctic against China & Russia Canada is a burden rather than a boon therein in essence, since Canada won't defend the Arctic, America will have to take control of the situation same thing with Greenland

  21. Exactly. Trump 1 handed Biden a dumpster fire. Recovery and growth under Biden were strong--particularly compared to global peers. But Trump has vowed to undo everything that Biden accomplished, and it appears that promise extends to the economy. Trump is dumb, but his voters are worse.

  22. the Mexicans offered to send their military to secure the border presto, Trump drops the tariffs on Mexico, gives them a month to get their troops in place Canada meanwhile ; will be tariffed into the worst recession since the Great Depression thanks, Justin Trudeau

  25. Your reply: Thank you for the rare outburst of honesty. I'll agree that you're reeeeally stupid, but Biden isn't even Einstein compared to a potato. He basically is a potato, aside from the fact that he can walk 20 feet in a few minutes.

  26. oh yeah! what a win! here he was going to subjugate every other economy on earth with his genius "beautiful word" tariffs... that was HIS WHOLE ECONOMIC AGENDA! in the toilet. a few extra troops on the Mexican border? he could have called and asked and they would have done it. it isn't any sweat. the ramifications of his insane ideas will continue. people here in Canada are not going to just start buy US products again. they are pissed.

  29. Trumps ENTIRE economic agenda is in the toilet! you can't see that this was a total walkback? that he was struggling to find anything to chalk this up as a win? the DJI just took a dump! his entire economic agenda was based on tariffs to raise government income for tax cuts. that just went down the toilet. now he's got... NOTHING. its too complicated for him and his TV prompt readers.

I wonder how hard Vlad and Xi are laughing right now, and even smaller petty thugs of this world. And by the way, this beats the Kim's fiasco by no less than a hundred miles. Beat his own record and reached new previously unknown heights of ridiculous pathetic stupidity. Now look who's cheering.

  32. and add to that most Walmart product is Chinese sourced not American sourced.
    1 point
  33. Why? The sell Canadian products, especially grocery items. They buy or lease and use Canadian land They employ Canadian workers. "Walmart Canada has over 100,000 employees. Walmart Canada is one of Canada's largest employers" as well as the ancillary workers (drivers, warehouse, contractors etc). Is Walmart the only one?? What about the Bay? What about Ford? GM? Stelantis? McDonalds? Burger King or other fast food places? The venerable Molsons Brewery?? You want to lose that? and put all those folks out of work??? I get your sentiment but, just because the store or company has an American parent does not mean it is not contributing to the Canadian economy or especially employing Canadians.

  34. Look, I don't care what Trump says. How he justifies his decision, is not my point. I'm looking at this situation from an objective perspective. How a nation wants to conduct her trade/commerce within her own borders.........is her own business. Our practical options: 1. Meet the condition to avoid the tariff 2. Pursue all other positive avenues in negotiations 3. Walk away from having any trade with the USA. Tit-for-tat, will surely drive Canada to the ground! It's not the answer. Trump could just as easily decide to withdraw from doing any trade at all with Canada.

  35. The lawsuits are already being filed, and this will just continue to jam the system.

  36. He doesn’t care a damn about the northern border. He already said it’s artificial and should be erased. The tariffs are about gaining trade advantages and trying to replace internal revenue with external revenue, making other countries pay Americans more. That’s it. The fentanyl and illegal migrants from Canada aren’t real concerns, which is why the $1.3 billion we’re spending on helicopters and other border stuff didn’t change anything in these negotiations. He’s trying to put the squeeze on Canada to get more stuff for the US or simply to annex Canada. That’s it.
    1 point
  37. They did confiscate 44 lbs. of the stuff which is enough to kill close to 10 million people. And it's public knowledge that fentanyl made in canada is not only used for domestic purposes but is being exported around the globe. God only knows how much of the stuff isn't confiscated and manages to get through. Please fill me in on what our governments are doing about that. Nothing for us to be proud of here.

  39. The 1950s? I thought that too, but the untrustworthy unethical backstabbing self appointed US Emperor admitted he thought the pre WW1 days of tariffs, child labour and Pinkerton bullies was America's most prosperous and successful times. When robber barons really did run the whole show.

  42. Nothing we did was going to please Trump. This could backfire on Trump and Smith in long run. We need to be united, Canadians have never backed down from a fight before. But do we have that backbone anymore?
    1 point
  43. inciting the private sector to realign its supply chains in the near term is unrealistic and the government does not want that to become structural and permanent the response will be short term Trump related but in terms of defence procurement, there are lots of things to buy in Canada money could also be spent on infrastructure, such as military bases & facilities the easiest thing to spend money on is personnel, by simply increasing the pay across the board

  44. How many tariffs did we get slapped on us when we had a conservative government? In fact was it not a conservative government that negotiated NAFTA in the first place and literally increased our trade with America by tenfold? Not to mention it was a conservative government that successfully negotiated the softwood lumber agreement We tried it and it worked. Our stupidity was going back to a left-wing government that is destroyed our country and left us literally crippled at a time when we face a significant threat.
