  1. So 2 years before the convoy, indigenous protestors across the country blockade railways in protest, no emergencies act invoked. At the Ottawa convoy, police at all 3 levels of government make no attempts to arrest or tow the truckers, including the ones at the border. Most of them are just making loud noises, none of them committed violence. Feds declare an emergency.

  2. A real leader would have met with the convoy and tried to find a compromise or dispel the situation. Trudeau came down with another case of 'Convenient Covid' and hid out all the while calling the convoy racist and a variety of snipes. Trudeau is not a leader, he's laughed at globally, and dis-respected at home. Truly an embarrassment wherever he goes. Canada has suffered damage with his inept 'leadership' . . . . . Completely consumed with global warming and his image, the Canadian citizens are just an after-thought. The die is set now, expect more Emergency Act (War Measures Act) shows of force. It makes Trudeau look tough - to himself. Citizens see something else . . .

  3. As more and more evidence builds up, it looks like I was wrong about the number of adverse events to the Covid vaccines. As I've told y'all, if I find I'm wrong about an issue, I'd come admit it. And, as it stands now, it looks like I was wrong about the number of adverse events related to the vaccine . "According to a study, Fraiman J et al, Vaccine. 2022, mRNA COVID-19 vaccines were associated with an excess risk of serious adverse events, including coagulation disorders, acute cardiac injuries, Bell’s palsy, and encephalitis. This risk was 1 in 550 individuals, which is much higher than other vaccines. https://www.floridahealth.gov/newsroom/2023/02/20230215-updated-health-alert.pr.html

  13. One sad take from this experience that just may come back (and keep coming) that no, an individual of clear objective disposition cannot trust and take for granted information from public authorities. That loss of trust is worth way more than all the billions thrown at the problem and ineffective and outdated institutions that were taken unawares despite decade(s) of preparation and public millions that can now be written off as wasted. Just recall the China travel story in the first days. Unsatisfactory. No pass. And all the hectic activity that followed, complete with bizzare Emergencies, a pathetic at times ridiculous attempt at redeeming the fiasco of the first days. Canada's public management system is seriously outdated, ineffective, inefficient while self-absorbed and grossly overpaid and cannot produce quality management decisions when they are required by the society.

  14. What I found interesting is that after Linda Stone was first censured by the board, she resigns. Next election, she runs and gets voted back in again. Then censured again for the same original 'crimes'. The voting public doesn't seem to count for much.

  15. First, get rid of this piece of nonsense (section 1.4 of Code of Conduct) ....1.4 Trustees will support the Vision and Values, and Strategic Priorities of the Durham District School Board. It should not be a crime for an elected school board trustee to have a differing opinion on what is racism and what is speech. It should not be a crime to suggest that those kids (who believe they're trans) get counseling before doing something to their bodies they can't undo. And it should not be a crime to suggest that parents should be notified. It says trustees have a dual responsibility... 1) as an 'elected' representative of their ward, and (2) as a member of the board. In practice however, falling into lockstep with the board comes first. If someone asks how is it possible for them to drum dissenting voices off the board.... as miata says... because they can. And finally, if elected municipal councilors are allowed to speak freely why can't elected school board trustees? The reasons given as to why they shouldn't are so lame it's almost laughable.

  16. She was a terrorist, she should have been tied to a pole and shot... or put into a camp and tortured daily until she learned to love Justin and liberal values...she will learn to scream and shout at any thing that hints of the right... It still does not change the fact that policeman did not have to trampled that women, she was after all right in the front police ranks... he could have waited until she was removed by policemen on foot, it would have taken a couple of minutes then they could have torn through the lines like some medieval charge of yester year...mowing them down by the hundreds, becasue they were evil terrorist bent on having one to many beers... It's a good thing we are not divided as a nation...

You should talk to Queen, he'll explain it all to you, he had no issues with answering the question, he even knew what Major was, go figure, and he did it all with out any slander, or whining and the world is still spinning, imagine that. I did not refuse your question, infact explained it to you a few times, sometimes it is just better to cut and run...

  18. Uh, no it has not. It didn't start until 2015, and in 2016 there were about 300 such crossings. Then big mouth Trudeau decided to virtue signal to the world and the few hundred became tens of thousands. Word got out, and it rose to 60,000 crossings last year. And it likely will continue to grow as it's becoming more widely known as an easy path into Canada. Sanctuary cities are a problem, but the real problem is our refugee laws, how long it takes to get through the process, and how easy it is to get a claim accepted without any evidence. Not to mention that we don't have any real enforcement mechanism to kick people out when they overstay. Basically, once you're here you're here permanently unless you're repeatedly caught breaking the law in a major way or rape a schoolbus full of babies or something.

  24. If Canada can't control who comes across its borders then it has no sovereignty. If international agreements prevent you from enacting policies you want in order to protect your border then back out of the agreements. If you're a legit refugee then present yourself at an official border port of entry and make a refugee claim like everyone else. You'll be given a health card and a work visa. If you're not a legit refugee claimant you shouldn't be admitted into the country. If you're coming from a safe 3rd country you should not be admitted into Canada until your claim is processed and approved, which it won't be because the refugee laws say you're not allowed to "refugee shop" and keep bouncing from western country to western country every time your claims are rejected looking to get lucky and for someone to slip up and accept you because of your bogus claim.

  30. I have to state right off, I didn't check the numbers but if they are valid, in a real democracy (see another topic) it would have been a subject of a serious, detailed and in depth public, including real expert (without 's' in the middle) inquiry. Maybe a blip in the statistics but how do we know until we know? P.S. this is how fast hurray for your own good hype can become seriously problematic. "Because we can".

  31. Alberta would die on the vine. Never make it on it's own. Never going to happen. On the other hand, Manitoba westward would be a very viable country, with Churchill as the eastern terminus for access to European markets, and BC for Asian markets. All the food and fuel needed, and the enthusiasm to make it happen. Remember, Quebec and Ontario need the west more than the west needs them. Western separation? Yes!

  33. Well good for you for putting knowledge above ego. Few here do that. Everyone should be slightly skeptical about government, especially the Government of Florida which tampers with experts and has become hyper-political and cites a SINGLE study. That said, this is the best part: "While the CDC has identified safety signals for stroke among individuals 65 and older following the bivalent booster administration, there is a need for additional assessments and research regarding safety of all mRNA COVID-19 vaccines."

  34. Okay. First achievement was building the multi-partisan coalition to prevent a hostile US congress from wrecking NAFTA. Second achievement was to pull together a team of all Provincial governments to respond to a deadly pandemic, saving thousands of Canadian lives, while the pestilance raged through our neighbour visting upon them the most terrible catastrophe in US history. Yes, the grits have under performed on several files, but, when it came to real crises, they stepped up and did a good job. Perhaps the leaders of the opposition would have done as well. They would have received the same advice the professionals in the civil service provided to the current government, but the grits were in power and they get the credit. None of these laurels belong solely to the Federal Government. They are shared by the Provinces as well.

  36. Ok, and here's what I think. If you push traditionally abnormal people into positions of power; not based on their merit but a sad need to signal your hope of appearing to possess superior virtue the abnormality will manifest itself in radical ways. As it did and does with Levine and Brinton. There were WTF moments when their appointments were announced and those who expected radical weirdness to come of it have not been disappointed.

  40. that was worse for me on ISCC on final ex, we went nine days with no sleep at all nobody quit nor failed on Section Attack, Section Defensive, nor Section Small Party Task everybody who quit or failed, was broken by the Section Night Patrol you got two chances to pass, and you had to get that done early in the week, or sleep dep would break you and like I say, I had the most feared Section Commander on the course, who went on to JTF2 and I got the patrol from hell, densest bush you can imagine three steep ravines, straight down, straight up, with drop offs into creeks at the bottom of all three then we come to the fourth valley, and beavers had completely logged it to build their dam it was just razor sharp punji sticks stumps as far as the eye can see in the moonlight we picked are way through the spikes, crossed over on the beaver dam, and up the other side to my amazement, I got on the objective just in time to get bumped then we had to peel back all away across beaver valley, legs getting torn up by the punji sticks then back across all three ravines again, to the FRV Section Commander gives his evaluation "overall, pretty good job there, that's a pass" and suddenly I thought, holy sh*t, I might actually make it, I might actually pass this course everybody who failed the first P.O. either failed the second one too, or quit one guy, who was a much better soldier than me, just up and quit in the middle of his orders group, on the second last night I said, "no, man, don't do it, its just one more day", but he just said "I can't do this" and got up and walked away when they called Endex, the fearsome Section Commander just turns to me and shakes my hand "congratulations, you passed" and then he told me his first name, started helping fill in the trenches then we got hot showers, clean sheets & eight hours sleep then the course party, now my Section Commander is drinking with me, laughing & joking now we are peers, because I am a Section Commander and my oldest and best friend in this world, who joined the army with me he was there too, he passed the course too, he was the one who got me through it that was the greatest moment of my life, until I met my wife

  42. Nope. Doesn't work like that. Not every overreaction, panic, random, hectic pointless and ineffective decision can be written off for the novelty. But there's competence, preparedness, quality and responsibility. There was SARS, MERS, chicken flu and all sort of movies about the next pandemic. Public millions were spent happily on preparedness reports (and supposedly, measures). Nope, just doesn't fly. And there are examples right here in this world that managed to get to the same pretty much result cutting out the drama part, like all of it, 100%. So no, we need another, more exciting story.

  43. Theory? The practice is that people pay their taxes. Myata, the evidence that Canada (and the US) are civilised societies is that millions of people pay their taxes. ==== In dysfunctional societies such as Lebanon, Haiti, Somalia or even Greece, people simply don't pay taxes. In Sweden, Canada, Japan and Vermont, we pay taxes. True, no individual Canadian happily pays any tax - but we pay. IMHO, your complex list is interesting but the ultimate measure of a "democracy" is whether people pay their taxes. In Canada and Australia, people do. In Nigeria and Vietnam, they don't.

  44. Just out of curiosity, RedDog, have you ever considered what would happen to Alberta if she decided to leave Canada? Alberta would be landlocked with no access to the sea. The layout of the transportation network is a thin string between Edmonton and Calgary. It is extremely vulnerable for attack by loyalists. The US will not allow the Keystone pipeline into the US. BC will not only prevent more pipelines, but will probably shut off the lines that exist now. You will no longer have access to Saskatchewan's uranium. You will see a massive exodus of business and investment. With no access to markets, the oil patch and the oil sands will shut down. So, welcome back to Canada. We missed you. ?

You have to be either right wing or left wing and how dare you think for yourself. Both sides have good (and bad) points and real thinkers will see that and act on what is correct for them. Political evangelism has become the norm and is tearing countries apart. "Political correctness (or cancel culture as we call it today) is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
