What i don't get is if ass kissing was the main objective here, to start negotiations , why all of the liberal rhetoric here in Canada...why not just shut up, and tell Canadians we are going to start negotiations and leave it like that....no they had to blow up their chest mouth off and act tough....for the election.... I personal think think Carney approach was the right one, sit there shut the FU, take the lies and insults and set up another meeting soon as possible...countering trump or calling him out only gets you zelensky'd and nothing gets done.... If the US does not want our steel, aluminum or lumber lets find other markets....give them a 3 year warning and tell them your on your own....As for cars build them for Canada....bring in more european / Asian car manufacturers...to build cars for Canada4 points

She is doing her job, She is the premier of Alberta, let carney worry about Canada. And we will see if Carney is going to keep his promises and have Alberta interest in heart with pipelines and energy corridors...or drive that wedge even further apart...3 points

Sorry we have to disagree about this one. This is not a black and white issue. Even if one thinks the general policy of removing alleged illegal migrants is in order, a President and country must respect due process, and respect lawyers that defend the accused. You can't just crush the rights of lawyers who defend these people and just ignore the due processes and procedures that respect human rights. We need to think deeper.3 points

Ge·sta·po [ɡəˈstäpō] definition the German secret police under Nazi rule. It ruthlessly suppressed opposition to the Nazis in Germany and occupied Europe, and sent Jewish people and others to concentration camps. From 1936 it was headed by Heinrich Himmler. "Last month, Clay Jackson was at a gas station near his home in Dallas when an attendant asked if he could offer up some legal advice to an immigrant family in the neighborhood. A father was caught up in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid, and the mixed-status family with a U.S. citizen child wasn’t sure what to do next. Jackson agreed to give them informal pro bono support in his personal capacity, not as an in-house lawyer for Fidelity National Financial, a multi-billion dollar Fortune 500 title insurance company. “My goal was to try to find somebody just to be a conduit for them, to alleviate their immediate concerns and fear, give them just some basic understanding of what this is and how this may play out, and then try to find them with a good lawyer,” he told The Independent. Then two people he says appeared to be federal law enforcement agents visited Jackson himself. Two plain-clothed agents appeared at his home and accused Jackson of obstructing an investigation, he said. Jackson talked to formerWashington Post columnist Radley Balko about the people he believed were ICE agents arriving at his door. That article, which did not mention where Jackson worked, was published April 23. That same day, Jackson was fired. The incident follows a series of actions from Donald Trump’s administration targeting individual lawyers and firms that provided work for his perceived political enemies. Jackson fears ICE’s threats and his abrupt termination could send a “chilling” effect preventing lawyers from pro bono work or even informal advice." A Texas lawyer gave advice to an immigrant family caught up in an ICE raid. Agents visited him, and then he was fired2 points

It seems like a valid question. I mean, the thought of putting bugs in our food as a matter of public policy would definitely give millions of people a serious case of the heebie jeebies. And yet they're still able to sit down to a suspect burger. How do you explain it? I've been given to understand one of the reasons right wingers don't seem to suffer from mental illness is they're much likelier to maintain a faith in God which apparently immunizes you against things like getting the heebie jeebies - in this case an anxious fearfulness that evil forces are out to make you eat bugs. How do you even get out of bed in the mornings?2 points

Isn't this is what praying is for, doesn't thanking God for the burgers you're about to tuck into make it all go away and put your mind at ease?2 points

At the debates Carney, Singh and Blanchett were quick to point out that any projects started now wouldn't be built in time to help Canada fend of Trump-style aggression from the US for 10-15 years, but what they failed to notice was that we'd already have those pipelines built, or damn close to it, if not for Trudeau's anti-energy policies of 2015-2025. It was feckless, caving-in policies of the Lib gov't that led us to this point of weakness.2 points

It’s Trumps show, notice he goes on his rant then immediately ends the meeting before anyone else can speak. The ADHD windbag talked almost the entire time, meandering all over the map about China, Houthis, trains in California and so on. Carney’s only job in that show was to respectfully rebut “51st state” comments and stay cool so as not to get zelensky’d and he did that.2 points

People made a big deal out of it because it was batshit insane. Whether or not something needed to done about immigration and the border does not diminish how buffoonish and out of touch with reality it was to repeat that on national television. Something you literally and completely made up. Not only is it kind of pathetic how much time you waste crying and whining about "dishonesty" as soon as someone says something you don't like, it's truly farcical coming from you of all people. If you actually cared about honesty, you wouldn't spend the bulk of your time here fluffing for the World's Biggest Buffoon/Liar/Bronzer. 🤡2 points

It's impossible to argue against anything that she said here: she mentioned what Alberta "requires" from the federal gov't, and mentioned a few recent issues: "Half a trillion dollars in investments scared away by federal gov't policies" "Canada dead last in GDP growth" "interfered in provincial matters" "police harassed gun owners" She just went off on ridiculous LPOC policies and outlined their cost to businesses and families here.1 point

Remember the oppressed, the "proletariat"? Well this place, not so enviable position is now taken by maga. Oppressed by their dumbness, failing education system, inability to think and learn, mental laziness and incapacity to create and maintain the order that benefits broad segments of society as opposed to a thinnest layer of billionaires because they have the dough to pump dumbest lies that the populace will eat without as much as passing thought. School shootings are great for your security. Let's get even more with ever more thoughts and prayers. And lo, out of nowhere a demented genius with a torch (of stupidity) steps up. Look you don't need to be ashamed of being stupid anymore. Break and throw off those chains! No need to hide it in dark corners and basements. Come out, wear it loud and proudly - just like me. And so begins the dumb, brainless revolution. Guess where it'll be heading - in no time at all too? and who's watching closely and chuckling, much satisfied by these surprising or not really, developments.1 point

You immediately provided good examples of what I wanted to demonstrate to you. You even read the Bible wrong and misinterpreted what it is trying to tell you. "God gave man dominion over all things on the earth " does not equate to "God gave man the right to destroy all things on the earth" You support the destruction of our environment which means you support the destruction of the creative power that made you be. You are fighting against God. Why would he grant you eternal life? To you? So you can bicker with others on the internet for all eternity? The system failed you and you can't see that.1 point

That's everyone else's line to you. Nobody takes you seriously. You're a joke, and trying to pretend that anything you've said is serious or worth listening to beyond its comedic value is asinine. You don't get to post two weeks of ass porn or regularly Have meltdowns and go on for seven pages posting pictures that basically are cries for help and sound like a little kid getting beaten up by a bully and have people treat you seriously. This is why people think you're actually a teenager living in your mom's basement. So you don't get to yell at anyone else for not taking something seriously. And stop drinking1 point

We'd be stupid not to give their stuff a look. Tack that on to the bullshit like the spare parts we buy for F35s aren't actually ours until their put on the place - the USA can decide they're needed somewhere else and take them from here to some other country. They did exactly that to Denmark (who they're also f*cking over) by taking parts out of Denmark and sending them to Israel for their F36s. Ignoring Denmark's no arms to Israel policy. We should be looking at Gripens with RollsRoyce engines to avoid shitf*ckery (thxs Aussies for the most fitting word) like this.1 point

1- Russia doesn't want a ceasefire, it wants a comprehensive peace plan. Trump is the one who wanted a 30 day ceasefire. 2- There's plenty of evidence that Russia had absolutely no interest in any Ukrainian territory, with the exception of Sevastopol, prior to Euromaidan in 2014. American Professor and Statesman Jeffrey Sachs made this clear in a speech he gave to European Parliament in February 2025: ** As you know, Viktor Yanukovych was elected as president of Ukraine in 2010 on the platform of Ukraine’s neutrality. Russia had no territorial interests or designs in Ukraine at all. I know. I was there off-and-on during these years. What Russia was negotiating during 2010 was a 25-year lease to 2042 for Sevastopol naval base. That’s it. There were no Russian demands for Crimea, or for the Donbas. Nothing like that at all. The idea that Putin is reconstructing the Russian empire is childish propaganda. Excuse me. If anyone knows the day-to-day and year-to-year history, this is childish stuff. Yet childish stuff seems to work better than adult stuff. So, there were no territorial demands at all before the 2014 coup [in Ukraine]. Yet the United States decided that Yanukovych must be overthrown because he favored neutrality and opposed NATO enlargement. It’s called a regime change operation. ** Source: https://consortiumnews.com/2025/02/27/jeffrey-sachs-the-geopolitics-of-peace/ It was only -after- the regime change that the dominoes started to fall. As I've said many times, I don't see any way that Ukraine can "win" this war, as I don't see any circumstances wherein Russia stops fighting to meet its objectives. As Trump rightly pointed out to Zelensky during their oval office meet, Zelensky's "gambling with World War III", but they can only do so with American support and Trump has made it clear he's not interested. So perhaps the Trump Administration will finance Ukraine for another 100 days as Vance recently suggested, and Zelensky will finally realize that while he will regain none of the territory he's lost, he -could- hold on to what's left of Ukraine if he finally removes the ban on negotiations with Russia and gets to negotiating an end to this war.1 point

During my time in Germany, i had many opportunities to travel and walk the battlefields to see if i could understand what those soldiers went through to prepare myself,to be a better soldier...what it did show me was the tremendous cost they paid, on both sides..., i traveled and went to several concentration camps and found out just how evil war can make people.... then my first tour of Afghanistan i got to experience war close and personal...nothing my training taught us had prepared me for the horrors we would do to each other...the smell of blood in the air, the smell of rotten flesh, the sight of ripped apart bodies, pieces of them hanging with bits of clothing still wrapped around flesh in trees after an airstrike had hit a small villa , or the bodies of someone that had been flatten by a long convoy of trucks and tracks vehs, flatten beyond recognition with just a tuff of hair telling you it was once a human....War touches all your senses...and leaves unforgettable memories that will never fade....That's what every politician should experience, before sending men and women into battle ....Walking in their footsteps is the first baby step....into understanding war, and why men fight....but actually experiencing it all....because words do not do the experience justice....1 point
