Evert time government decides to do something...A.NYTHING to choose winners and losers in the business world you can count on two guaranteed things: they will totally f*ck up anything they touch and the kickbacks will be at least 10% of what flows out of our bank....oops, our grandchildrens' tax accounts.3 points

Rebuffed, because Putin is a criminal dictator who terrorizes and murders his own people, invades his neighbors and stands against most European values. Shocking. Russia is in the process of floundering further and further into isolated, failing obscurity. Are they in Odessa yet? 🤡🤡🤡2 points

Jim Acosta is a TDS infected little weasel. He picked fights with the first Trump admin trying to make a big splash...and got his a55 handed to him. Now he's tucking his tail between his legs and running away a failure. Bye Bye Jimmy...you self-serving jack-a55.2 points

Perhaps Acosta's most earth shattering report was when he was standing in front of a border wall during Trump's first term while he says nobody is trying to cross here, so why is there a wall?😅2 points

Rejoice! You are a put upon minority. About 54 percent of respondents — 86 percent of Republicans, 58 percent of independents and 25 percent of Democrats — said they “strongly” or “somewhat” support a wide-scale effort to deport millions of immigrants, and 59 percent said they are closely following the “immigration situation at the U.S.-Mexico border.” Maybe you can get some sympathy from the other losers that are on the wrong side of history. Majority of Americans support deporting immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally The vast majority of U.S. adults favor deporting immigrants convicted of violent crimes, and the Trump administration’s deportation efforts may begin there. But Trump’s initial executive orders have gone far beyond that — including efforts to keep asylum-seekers in Mexico and end automatic citizenship. No one is listening to the dopes that want illegal immigration.1 point

Lee is very fond of the sound of his own voice. The US dairy industry depends on illegal workers and subsidies to keep its milk absurdly cheap and there are issues about additives like rBST as well. Essentially, Trump is demanding we accept the proceeds of crime. Nobody should want US banks here. We saw the chaos that broke out in 2007-2009 down there and with the ‘light touch’ (ie absent) regulation Trump wants, that scenario could easily recur. I don’t think our banks should be allowed to dabble in the US either, eg TD. We need to tighten up regulation, not loosen it. Digital taxes are entirely reasonable and will probably appear in many countries outside the US and China in due course. These US media giants have destroyed local media, bringing discord, disinformation and Lord knows what damage to kids while paying bugger all taxes in their main markets. Telecom - be my guest, America. The local oligarchies have made fortunes but provide dreadful service. This industry cries out for disruption. We don’t need any Canadian content there as long as any foreign firms pay a fair rate for using existing infrastructure. Airlines - let’s see what you can do. This is a tough market to serve completely. I’d like to see foreign airlines phased in.1 point

Right. We're blessed with resources and live next door to the world's #1 economic powerhouse and leader of the free world. We should be thanking our lucky stars. But no, let's reject the U.S. and look for greener pastures elsewhere because Trump's a mean person or whatever other stupid reason you can think of. Get your head out of your ass.1 point

but as Ian Lee has said, the Liberals welcome Trump as their saviour the Liberals replace Trudeau with Carney, then they run against Trump as the defenders of Canada while portraying Poillievre as a pro-Trump Quisling then the Liberals get to do what they want to do anyways; which is to tariff and subsidize Canadian industry as a result because that is the source of all their power1 point

The stupid part is that if you read into the case law on this, these things are spelled out that the military can be used in tangent functions to support civilian law enforcement. It is the actual "enforcement" where the lines start to get very clear. Military setting up a command center for LE use = OK Military setting up logistics, supplies, food, etc... to supply LE = OK Military advisors riding along with LE to provide intelligence, help gather intelligence, etc... = OK Military lining up with guns with the breach team to go in on American in their home to effect an arrest = NOT OK1 point

PR is absolutely part of the war, however, I would argue that despite the protests Israel it at least competitive in this war. Support for Israel is very strong where it counts: the leaders of the West, especially the USA. I also think that the silent majority (of non-Muslim people) also support Israel. Overall PR has not significantly hampered the war. The hostage situation is way more problematic to Israel. If/when the hostages are released, either the cease fire holds (unlikely) or Hamas launches missiles then Israel will have another chance to attack without all the internal pressure from the internal Israeli hostage-release-pressure-groups.1 point

What does it mean, America? The meaning, of the silence? You don't need, have no respect and value for the allies? Democrats, how does it feel on that faraway remote trail? Still no connection, to the reality? No honor, no honesty and no integrity left, to scramble? If so, it'll come back much quicker than you want to believe. These tests can failed only to bad, painful and terrible discoveries.1 point

The only thing this government has been defending for 9 years is Justin's image. Its a party of hyper-sensitive wimps and losers who lay on their backs to show their bellythe moment they think someone might get offended. Anyone who thinks like this is a loser. That's a lot of the left now unfortunately, trying to turn everyone everyone into simps like them. Now the party is getting a makeover from some equally wealthy Goldman Sachs schmuck who loves taking credit for our recession recovery that had nothing to do with him and everything to do with Alberta sitting on gobs of oil when global prices had skyrocketed. Another crowned prince for the Liberals to delude themselves over.1 point

It’s hard to compare a multi-party system with America’s bleak contests between just two parties but I think it’s fair to say that Harris did better than Campbell. However, FPTP and a split on the right made Campbell’s performance look worse than it was.1 point

Thanks for your neighborly support BTW, but why would you want to destroy our energy business you are aware that the US gets a large portion of Canada's oil and gas more than 40 % and it is heavily discounted...then there is our electrical energy that a lot on states depend on to keep the lights on... shutting it down or destroying it would hurt the US as much as it would Canada....Trump wants us to be the 51 st state, if that happens Canada left will make California look like a republican's state... I'm sure that is exactly what Americans want more of more liberals... You didn't think this through did you...1 point

Yeah, funny thing a good friend of mine who is somewhat older even than I am grew up in an orphanage in Quebec. When he hears about the conditions in the first nations schools back in the day he says they were identical to what he lived through as well. The orphanages were run by the catholic church of course. Yet the first nations would have us believe they are the only group that ever experienced anything negative in the history of Canada1 point

But @WestCanMan is right, there the same people and the same issues and fairly extended periods of violence. The fact there are pauses in between doesn't mean the violence has started and stopped if the planning and purpose comes from the same group. I mean, lots of wars have breaks between battles but we don't call each battle a new war, we lump them all togethter. The 100 years war for example had long periods of time where there were no hostilities but we still refer to them as one event. So it seems pretty reasonable that if blm and antifa are coordinating civil unrest in numerous locations for significant destructive demonstrations over a period of years that it be considered as a single conflict isn't it?1 point

Not to be sour grapes but there were two calls that the refs whiffed on. its not a matter of judgment.. they simply were wrong. The fourth down call when Buffalo was leading 22-21 and the pass play immediately preceding that. A simple replay shows that Knox was short of the first down by about 6 inches not a yard. on the 4th down play.. replay shows that Allen crossed the first down marker by roughly 3 inches.1 point

Its not terrible. Europe is having a panic attack because they know they can't deal with Ukraine alone and Trump plus at least half of the US voting public, don't think the USA should be paying for a war on the other side of the ocean. The poodles in Europe are not capable of dealing with the Russians on their own and Trump is going to find a peace deal that he and Putin can live with, and then dictate that to Comic-Boy and the poodles. Lesson of this debacle? Europe needs to stand on its own feet for a change.1 point

When EV's came out, it became a big novelty for a lot of people who wanted to believe that EV's will be the vehicles of the future. I do not believe your bullshit that EV's are still big sellers. What proof do you have of this? Do you know as to how many EV's and ICE vehicles are being sold in Canada? I will bet that ICE vehicles are the biggest sellers. Trump has phkd the EV industry and i am happy about that. Why would i want to buy an EV when i am unable to plug in my car on my street? Where i live, my car sits on the street with no EV plugs available anywhere nearby where i can charge my EV up overnight. And i am not looking towards the future where there could be millions EV charging units on every street in Canada. What a blight on the environment that would be if that ever happens. But hey, if you want to buy an EV, go ahead, make your day. It's full speed ahead for me and ICE vehicles. They do know real harm to the environment. Billions of tons of loaded chemical shit is deposited into the environment every hour of every day. We deposit billions of tons of garbage into landfills every day that enter the soil and then pollute. But nobody says anything about that. Why? ☹️1 point

Factual newspaper articles? I suppose, beats buying into lies and bullshit like you Blah blah - man the lies you have to tell yourself to get through your day is astouding Not me. The auto manufacturers and industry. EVs are twice as hard to sell today compared to 2023 | Financial Post All the reports are that car manufacturers are scaling back plans for EV's, and now that trump has killed the mandate in the states it's probably going to nose dive. Sorry if facts upset you. Canada is a tiny market, and largely saturated. More and more people are coming forward with problems with their ev's. Sales may continue but they're slowing down and only represent a small fraction of vehicle sales, about 10 percent i believe. You can twist the numbers to make it look better. Things like 'EV SALES DOUBLE" sound good but when that means you went from 5 to 10 out of every 100 vehicles it doesn't mean much. And that's with incentives. When it goes back to no incentives the sales will plummet. Trump won't be doing anything to our sales. And frankly i've already told you so. And quit looking at my chest, it's weird.1 point

I don't think your getting it, Climate change is going to die on the vine....Canadians may be driving EV's for now, but in 5 years those fossil fuel vehicles will still hold the majority of sales...US is going to kill their climate change policies cut all the red tape, to cut all the climate BS, and we will have to do the same just to compete...and in 4 years when a new American admin gets in maybe climate change will come back...1 point

I know you make the case for Confederation being a kind of reclamation of the Confederacy, but it’s also important to remember that British North America had its own complex history since the beginning of the American Revolution until 1867. I know you’ve also mentioned Confederation being a shotgun wedding due to fears of American expansionism and the Fenians after the Civil War, but also remember the great achievement that Confederation was in terms of creating peace between Protestants and Catholics, anglophones and francophones. The Canadians of today forget those histories except the anti-colonial Residential School genocidal Canada narrative disseminated by the Post-National Liberals. These people hypocritically claim to represent Canadian values and sovereignty while undermining it through woke messaging in schools and government speeches and policies. This government has also burdened its population with internationalist projects like ESG and fighting the “climate crisis”, meanwhile expanding government, raising the cost of living, and flooding the country with immigrants from everywhere that isn’t representative of the country’s cultural roots. How does any of that represent anything Canadian or serve Canadians? It certainly isn’t helping us economically as productivity, birth rates, and incomes lag the U.S. Basically our government has given us the worst of both worlds: less national independence and lower living standards. Why would I believe that this federal government serves Canada and Canadians more than Washington? At least Washington defends us.1 point

Some may think that the US is the whole entire world, but Putin's sights were on the EU. In 2012 he said: “Russia is an inseparable, organic part of Greater Europe, of the wider European civilisation. Our citizens feel themselves to be Europeans.” But that was not to pass. Europe rebuffed him. To understand Putin's point of view, you may wish to read his address at the 2022 Valdai International Discussion Club meeting1 point
