  1. Let's be clear about 1 thing: Trump's hostility towards Canada isn't a "conservative" or "Republican" phenomenon, it's an American phenomenon. The Dems and their sycophant media outlets don't give a sh1t about Canada. Who in the US is at all displeased with this "take over Canada" rhetoric? Most leftists probably don't know this, because CNN and CBC never said it, but we've had conservative leaders on both sides of the border going back generations, and this was never even on the radar when Reagan was president, Bush Sr, Dubya, Mulroney, Harper, etc. It wasn't even bandied about during Trump's first term... And despite Trump's awful rhetoric, I still haven't met any Canadian conservatives who hate Trump more than Trudeau. While it's nice to see Liberals suddenly caring about Canada, the Libs' denigration of Canadian culture over the past ten years is what made Canada look easy to take over in the first place: If a group of people no longer shares any pride in their collective identity, what's to stop them from just assimilating into a larger group? The liberals and their government were proclaiming to the world that Canada is a "post-national state", and constantly saying that being Canadian was something to be ashamed of. They even tried to make the case that we were genocidal child molesters ffs. According to leftard lore, even muslims are more tolerant towards women, gays and other religions than Canadians are. Islam is "the religion of peace!" 😂 Why would Canadians with any concern for this country at all suddenly start believing that Liberals were the ones to represent Canada now? I don't trust the LPOC any further than I can throw them all. If it came right down to it, I'd rather become an American and adopt their national identity than adopt Trudeau's vision of Canada. Hell, I'd go to war against Trudeau's Canada, in a heartbeat. If we were as bad as he made us out to be, I'd definitely sign up to fight us. And honestly, who woulda thought that Trump could make leftists hate electric cars and make Canadian liberals like Canada? He even has LIBERALS talking about the dire need for new fighter planes, protecting our northern territory, etc... Is this all some kind of joke?

  2. If you have been wondering about the crazy polling numbers lately, where the Libs got a new leader and suddenly the majority of Canadians reverted back to zombies and think they're great again, check out this video. New polling company - Liaison Strategies - started 4 years ago, but never posted a poll until recently and now polling every week. Company's founder, Alexander Nanoff, a Liberal insider with ties to every politician who has already been named or proven to be beholden to Chinese interests. I suspect he is getting paid by China for this. This is election interference because too many Canadians are brain-dead zombies who will just look at these polls and go "Well, looks like everyone else is voting Liberal, so I guess I will, too."

  3. In a coordinated effort by the U.S. Marshal Service (USMS) Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF), USMS Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Chicago Police Department, a high-ranking member of the Venezuelan street gang Tren De Aragua (TDA) was arrested yesterday in Cobb County, Georgia. Ricardo Gonzales, 32, had an arrest warrant from the Chicago Police Department for kidnapping and is wanted on probable cause for two counts of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. These charges stem from an incident on January 28 where Gonzalez is accused of kidnapping three female victims and taking them to an alley in Chicago where they were all shot in the head. Two were pronounced dead on the scene and the surviving victim was able to escape and call 911. And the left will tell you that they are stealing you SSN and destroying government while the government is actually doing it's job far more effectively than any time in my life.

  6. Because Liberals are the ones actually defending and promoting Canada and it's culture, not the people dreaming it's frozen at 1950. Look out your f*cking window and notice the Dragon Boat races, the Lunar New Year festivities, the Hadassah Bazaar, the two sushi places without even turning your head, the Greek and Italian Days, NHL coverage in Punjabi and the MMIWG marches and keep pretending that's not 'your' culture out there.

  17. It seems to be called for an awful lot by Liberals. But ONLY for things others have done and NEVER for things they have done. I note Carney blames all economic issues on Trump rather than the last 10 years of incompetent Liberal government. What is it in Canada that is working well? Police and the legal system? Nope. Our healthcare system? Nope. Government? Bloated and inefficient, with high deficits and a growing debt, so nope. Media? Biased and lazy. Nope. Our economy? Definitely not. Society? More and more divided, less and less polite and friendly, growing ethnic enclaves demanding others adjust to their values and culture, growing hostility between various foreign cultures we have allowed to grow here. No sense of unity. Threats to separate from multiple provinces. Ongoing foreign influence being ignored by government. Military? Lol. What is working, Michael, in your estimation? The city can't even fill potholes and paint lines on the bloody roads, and public transit is a mess. Tell me what is working impressively well in Canada? Calling out things that aren't working is worse than cursing our ancestors for things we'd have done no different were we there?

  21. Right. So there was a word "woke". It was the past tense of wake. And then some people on the left started using it as a slang term to refer to their own self-perceived enlightenment about social justice. In order for it to get that context people had to begin using it that way. And then some people on the right took the same word, and started using it to refer to the people (and the ideology of the people) who call themselves woke.

  22. Directly from the article re: the horns; 'The hearing came as an interim 10-day injunction to silence the horns was about to expire. The injunction was brought by a private citizen, 21-year-old Zexi Li, who said the sound of constantly blaring horns was unbearable. Initially, the injunction worked with the truck horns falling silent soon after the court order was issued. Within days, however, the horns started up again. Lawyer Paul Champ, who represented Li at the hearing, promised to take additional steps to ensure the order was enforced.' Obviously the injunction wasn't about the protest per se - you can't have an injunction against protests because act of protesting is completely legal in Canada (as it should be). The injuctions were about specific actions being committed by the protesters that were illegal - the honking was one of them, as was blocking the Ambassador Bridge. As I mentioned, there was injunction recieved by a government, the city of Windsor. You argument is literally 'it happened somewhere else so it doesn't count'. The blockade at the Ambassador Bridge was also a part of the convoy protests, as were the events in Ottawa.

  25. well having a mixed fleet is actually optimal, the F-35 isn't good at everything, it's highly specialized, and in many cases it is overkill for the mission, so stealth & non stealth fighters compliment each other, each performing their roles within a team, I simply doubt that Canadian governments are willing to pay the premium to play in those big leagues

  28. It's really hard to tell because it's unclear how Carney will govern. Canada's economy has already been struggling for a decade as far as productivity per hour worked is concerned and I'm not sure if Carney will do much differently from the previous Liberal government. If a prospective Carney gov't cuts some red tape, facilitates investment in research & development, reduces the housing crunch, maybe makes the tax system more competitive, the country's economic prospects could improve. If he does not do those things, the situation may remain the same or get worse.

  32. I think you're misreading what i said a bit. I am certainly not chastizing the military for not "sucking it up" or claiming the military has "let anyone down". At all. I'll be crystal clear, i think the precise opposite is true. What i'm saying is that the military is a political entity and a political tool at the end of the day and the military has to face the political realities and also learn to play the politics game well. That's just the way it is. And they have to respect that it's the politicians who decide which country is or is not a threat and whether they can be bought from, and the politicians serve the people. And find a way to work with what they have access to within that framework and get people excited about it so that they get behind it

  38. No, I’m progressive in most ways, conservative in some ways. Used to be a nice fit with some PC candidates. Us in the libertarian left used to have a home there. It is actually good to hear you want government intervention in the housing market. Poilievre used to believe in the free market, but has obviously seen how wrong that approach is with housing.

  39. And you touch on one of the major problems. Trump appears to be reacting when he sees how the markets react and when his advisors tell him there's a problem. But the way the indicators work the information really isn't real time. So by the time the indicators really clearly demonstrate you're in trouble, you're actually in a lot more trouble than you thought. It's like trying to drive a car by looking at a video monitor that is lagged by 2 seconds. It's not a huge leg, but it's more than enough to get you killed because events are happening faster than you're reacting. And by the time the monitor shows you're in trouble It may be far too late to swerve to avoid it. Not to mention inflation is still a little high and people will be feeling that. I think this is going to go sideways on him and what he doesn't realize is by the time he is told that there is a serious problem it will be too late for him to make a decision and avoid a crash

  40. Oh yes, the 'conservative' who wants to spend, spend spend and borrow, borrow, borrow. The 'conservative' who mocks the US war on woke and says Canada will always be a haven for DEI and racial hiring and promotion. The 'conservative' who says, with clenched jaw and angry eyes, that companies that don't get on board with climate change will be driven out of business. The 'conservative' who wants to spend two trillion dollars on a forlorn effort at reducing our CO2 emissions while opening the floodgates to even more immigrants to increase our population even more. To be more accurate, he pretended to cancel the carbon tax, but didn't. And says he will replace it with more carbon taxes that will almost certainly be higher - though he doesn't mention that second part out loud. He has, however, on many previous occasions.

  41. There will be another major upheaval in less than two weeks when the U.S. imposes counter tariffs against multiple countries. We’re also going to see whether there are carve-outs for the North American auto sector, products that fall under USMCA, and steel and aluminum. If any one of those three are left in place, there will be big economic implications. If all three are left in place, the impacts will be immediate and lead to production shutdowns. The economic indicators will lag and we won’t know the impact of whatever is in place for April until May. At that point we’ll have had a federal election in Canada, so we’ll probably know by end of May what Canada’s policy moves are regarding all these U.S. tariffs. The stupidest move the Trump administration could do is continue the uncertainty over tariffs on a monthly basis. Not only will that destroy stocks but it will totally isolate America, as other countries realize that they can’t afford to keep waiting for the next announcement coming out of the U.S. Countries and businesses have to make major decisions long term about investment and expenses. If companies don’t have a rough idea of expected sales in a given market and expenses for labour, production, and other inputs, that can be enough to make them shut down production or slash workforces. There are major costs to moving production and finding substitute suppliers and markets. What Trump is doing puts whole economies under major stress.

  44. the entire Canadian military is reliant upon the Pentagon for its logistics, not simply because most Canadian military hardware is American, but Canada also does not maintain any sort of stockpile of military stores, weapons, nor ammunition, instead Canada relies on America to supply Canada's forces in the event of war thus fighter planes are the least of Canada's problems if Canada gets cut off by Washington, Canada long ago decided to render itself functionally defenceless in the face of foreign powers, it's too late to turn that ship around now

  45. With liberal left government, Canadians pay far more than other countries which have more conservative type of governments. The reason is liberal left ideology means INTERVENTION, fees, regulations, and taxes for everything they can possible do. This went as far as taxing the carbon dioxide that people released in the air in their normal life of driving their vehicles and heating their homes. Although it reportedly has been dropped on the consumer side, it will continue big time in the corporate or industrial side and be passed on through the price of goods and services. An example of the cost we must pay for a liberal left type of Socialist government is in the air fares in Canada. " Why are ticket prices so high? For starters, taxes and fees imposed by governments and airports account for 25 to 35 per cent of airfare costs in Canada. For example, “airport improvement” fees average $32.20 per departing passenger at Canada’s largest airports — compared to $6.47 in the United States and $16.38 in Australia (all figures here and below are in C$). For air traffic control (ATC), airlines pay charges based on distance, geography and other factors, and these costs are passed on to consumers. In a typical example, to fly a Boeing 777 in Canada, airlines must pay an estimated $802 in ATC fees, compared to between $192 and $478 in the United States and $493 in Mexico." Opinion: Bad federal policy increases airfares in Canada The interventionist, Socialist, type of government extends to everything in society. The health care system is another example. The costs associated with health care that the government pays are high for a number of reasons, which one can find through a little investigation or searching on the internet. This same principle can be applied to everything that government has their hand in and their hand is huge. Other examples are the cost of housing in Canada. The cost of homes has doubled in a relatively few years as a result of government's actions. The fact that Socialist policies are popular in Canada is because people demand every service imaginable. While many people's medications are covered by employer extended benefits plans and paid for through monthly premiums, the NDP and liberal left still want to replace all that with a government-funded pharmacare system. So a well-established private system would be abolished and a new system that might be a bad system would be funded by taxpayers. Nothing is free. Taxpayers must pay for the huge bureaucracy that would be required to run a public pharmacare system. If we could see the bureaucracy that runs the public health care system and the amount of money that is paid to bureaucrats we would probably be shocked. It is in the billions or tens of billions of dollars. What percentage actually provides health care to patients versus what percentage goes to administering the system would likely shock most people. The public service has been increased by a large percentage under the liberals and left-wing governments in Canada and you can be sure a lot of money is going to administration of the public services including health care. All of this must be paid through taxation. So when people vote for more government services, they are really voting for a tax and spend type of government. That also means more government debt, higher amounts of the annual budget to service the debt. At present Canada must pay as much money in interest payments of the federal debt as they contribute for the federal share toward health care, tens of billions of dollars.

  47. @TreeBeard 1) Polls are always fake, and the polls in NA are all designed to make the Dems/Libs look good. Whatever they say, it's pretty standard that you flip them by 5% in favour of the conservatives. 2) https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/elections/poll-tracker/canada/ That's Feb 23. With any luck, the Bloc will shut the LPOC out of Quebec, and the NDP will sap enough votes away from them to keep their overall numbers in the low single-digits. I think the NDP will win a few seats in BC and Ontario, that's it. If this country is going to survive, we need a strong majority for Poilievre.
