I was just watching the CBC coverage of the trucker convergence on the Trudopian Reichstag building. They are very concerned. Very concerned. Added police presence is being called in from around Ontario. Massive investigations are under way. Apparently you can tear down the statue of John A MacDonald, the father of confederation, and that's no biggie but by God, somebody tucked a freedom flag under the arm of the statue of Terry Fox. They say they want them to end but they refuse to listen to science, tossed common sense out the window long ago and insist that until their demand for the impossible dream of "zero-covid" is met no restrictions should come down ever. That news article that said "the public in general is not psychologically ready for loosening of restrictions" is sooooo true. We are held for ransom by intellectual toddlers having tantrums because their juice is in an orange cup and they wanted the blue one.

If Fauci et al hadn't blocked early treatments, there would have been a lot less deaths. The multitude of restrictions would not have been necessary. Stop blaming everyone else. Fauci knew. He deliberately blocked access to early treatments and actively demonized and yanked licenses from doctors who were using early treatments successfully. He did this so that he could use get EUA to use humans as guinea pigs for inoculations that could be rushed through without the proper studies and testing. That's it. That's why we're in this mess.

I think if all mandates and restrictions are lifted, including masking and especially vaccine passports, that restores pre-pandemic freedoms, which are among the freest in the world. If even one protest anywhere in Canada was even a bit destructive the convoy would have been painted as a bunch of heinous insurgents, right?

The organizers have tried to curb the accusations from MSM - I watched videos on the weekend of people in ski masks with questionable flags being chased out of the area by protesters. There is information on the sites on how to recognize agitators - they are usually in full balaclavas, hiding their identities. There is information on the sites every day saying report any suspicious activity to police - if you see someone dropping buckets of bricks - report it, stay with the bricks til police get there. This disinformation was anticipated and they really are trying to keep a handle on it. This is why certain news sources were not allowed in the press conference the organizers had.

Well we’ve seen the results of mass protests to overturn totalitarian regimes in Eastern Europe and how civil rights marches have overturned discriminatory policies in the US. My sense is that Canada has a de facto one party system right now, because anyone who opposes the violation of our Charter is cast by the PMO and state-funded media as a moronic extremist biohazard. Smart, inquisitive people are calling it out, but Trudeau has Biden and China in his corner. Trudeau doesn’t care about our constitutional protections. He has abdicated our sovereignty by putting our government policy in the hands of an international public health body. Chrétien never would’ve done this. He understood the importance of exceptionalism to protect Canadian values. The Brits would never do this either.

Under a totalitarian regime, that certainly wouldn't fly. Words matter.

Vaccine passports are unconstitutional. Our Charter would never allow for citizens to be required to show proof of vaccination to access citizens’ rights like boarding a train or re-entering Canada.

You dismiss the way people are affected by this protest, why is that? "Your side" wants some reaction, but apparently it's not valid unless it's positive. So far, "your side" has denied any responsibility for the extremists who've attached to this protest, and now you mock people who're actually affected by the actions of these protesters, extremist or not. How do you demand respect for your cause, when you disrespect everyone who isn't on board.

I think most intelligent people would realize that within the trucker's convoy there are some especially rotten eggs and that the most militant and toxic elements of the right (like nazis wannabes) would latch on to a cause like this in the same way the confederate flags would show up at pro-police rallies in the USA. I think the most reasonable explanation is that there are exceptional idiots within the protest standing out and making it look worse than it is.

The problem is not with any specific individual. The problem is that there's no effective checks on the executive power in the country, as clearly demonstrated by him, thanks to him. Anyone in his shoes can do same things or worse, and there would be nothing to limit or stop them as there's none and everyone has seen and knows it now.
