The TACO principal still applies. We've seen this 3 or 4 times already this year alone. An arbitrary deadline is set. Trump blows past it. Tariffs go into place, markets tank, he sets a new deadline. The goal here is instability. The world has already started to look to forge new alliances. The American economy will still need to import goods. On Friday I saw posts bragging about the revenue brought in by tariffs. If they're making that much money then 1) The US consumer is baring the cost 2) Manufacturing jobs aren't being created. You can't raise the price of steel and aluminum 50% and not see prices go up exponentially.

Strongly agree, this is a societal problem for all western democracy. We strayed too far from the light not realising what the generations that came before gifted us. I hold responsible the so call "good men" who did nothing to push back the extremist element of our society. Any basically already trying to prepare people for his failure. He stopped saying that he's going to try and get a good deal, and has now said he's going to get the best deal he can. And with trump saying that there's nothing further to discuss, the 35% tariffs are the deal it's starting to look like we won't just get tariffs, we're going to get sizable ones. Trump wanted carney in. He was clear about that and he bragged about it after. And this is why. He knew he could pressure Carney into giving him a really good deal. He was already doing business with carney through his sons and he knew there was an advantage over poilievre as far as he was concerned.

What thinking? We see the predictions are based on faulty models and assumptions that produce over the top results. Knowing this, there is no justification for any restrictions on fossil fuels at this time. There is no crisis.

Transient holding cells follow a pretty common / predictable design and haven't changed much from one administration to the next. With few differences, these were Obama era holding cells in design and intent, during that period all was fine with progressives and the media. They became inhuman when Trump took office the first time then quickly faded to "fine and dandy" under Biden. Now, predictably, they're inhuman once again under Trump. The only thing that's changed here is the political rhetoric and selective outrage of progressives. I've done two deployments under canvass in hotter places than Florida.... there's an app for that and I don't remember hearing progressives (of any stripe) bemoaning the conditions their military members lived under whilst "over there"... being a LIAR though I may have missed it; you and Herb were probably front and centre, leading the charge with your objections. As to the camp location it comes with challenges and since you value honesty it's worth noting that the flooding was minor and not unexpected. In those conditions electrical issues commonly arise too because of water ingress... it's a known problem and if we're being honest there's an app for that too. The location probably wasn't a first choice but it was available, close to civilization but still difficult to access and escape from. Progressive buffoons will have difficulty disrupting the camp and attacking ICE agents there. Those attacks (and the ongoing threat of more to come) were likely a major factor in the facility location assessment... so perversely, the people screaming the loudest about the location are actually the ones directly responsible for it becoming the venue of choice. I don't buy these statistics at all. It doesn't bare out in any other Western nation. Look at Canada. 90% of Black Canadians don't have two parents who were born in the country. The Black population was 1% in the 90s. Today, Black Canadians commit murder at 5-6x the per capita rate of White Canadians, nearly 10x the gun crime, etc.
