  2. You know that famous quote of Wayne Gretzky? Don't focus on where the puck has been, but where it is going? So, where is Trump going? Clearly, he is not Hitler. Hitler is Hitler and Trump is Trump. But there are definite parallels in how they attained power, which we ignore at our peril. A society is built on stories. Some stories (like the US Constitution) are originated for the good. Other stories, like the stories perpetuated by the leaders of Nazi Germany, Stalinism, and Trumpism, are for the bad. They are false and harmful stories that lead to mass delusion, in a climate of hatred and fear. Trumpism, Nazism, Stalinism - all held together with deluded ideas founded on lies and cruelty

  3. I just showed you a picture of a chart that had the actual data on top and then had blatant lies about the data written below it. "Only 19% (or some such) of covid deaths were among the fully protected group". Fauci lied about the origin of covid, and then social media banned mention of the BSL4 lab. The MSM never told us that Fauci funded GoF on the bat coronaviruses before covid came out. Even I was surprised to find out about that, and I didn't find out right away. Most leftards still don't even know that. Everyone lied to us about the safety of the jabs, and they even kept lying after we already knew about the severity of vax-injuries. The jabs started off as "You won't get sick"... no hospital... no ICU... you won't die... We were led to believe that no one at all was dying of covid after vaxing for a long time. There were thousands of multi-vaxed Canadians already dead from covid and eyeball was still saying that there wasn't a single one, and he watches/listens to CBC news hours a day. We set a record for covid deaths in 2022, by a long shot, and again people like eyeball didn't believe me when I was telling them that deaths were actually up. And the MSM never covered covid deaths in what was by far the biggest year. Those god-damned monsters in our health bureaucracy even pretended that children needed the jabs and that was never the case, even for one second. So after all that, after they got caught lying to us about every single aspect of the covid story from top to bottom, you're just gonna post their little chart like a cultist worm? It's the one thing that we will never have a chance to disprove 100%, because they just keep the deaths by vax status stat to themselves. The gov't of Canada just stopped sharing that data when 90% of covid deaths were among the multi-jabbed, and the chart that they were sharing was intentionally misleading as well. They even sucked you into posting a chart, in this thread, saying that covid deaths spiked in August and then went down again in September... 😂 What was the point of that? Did Trump have a big rally or something that month? Did they fabricate a chart to pretend that a single Trump rally caused covid to spike across the whole country? Buddy, of course I don't believe their latest trick: "We have data that we're not sharing, except on this little chart that says exactly what we want it to say." They told 99 lies in a row, got 100% busted, and you believe the 100th thing... because you're a cultist.

  4. Isn't that what I said? And yes PeePee, having been Harper's attack dog, will be in full character assassination mode. He never held any senior cabinet post and apart from "Axe the tax", defund CBC and end all foreign aid, the usual PC grievances, I haven't heard anything of consequence from him Yeah, at that time he hadn't severed ties with a few non-profits. Big deal! "GATINEAU, QC, July 20, 2017 /CNW/ - The Commissioner of Canada Elections has entered into a compliance agreement with Mr. Pierre Poilievre for having circumvented the prohibitions on contributions to a registered party by ineligible contributors." In 2010, a police probe was triggered after Poilievre drove through a Parliament Hill screening gate without being permitted entry by the RCMP. Instead, he pressed the entrance button himself and drove his vehicle through. Small things maybe, but I'm sure the Liberals have better research skills than I have. Personally, I wish the PC's had a wise, dignified leader. Jean Charest, Lisa Raitt maybe. PeePee just doesn't make the grade.

  5. I think some imports will go through and the U.S. will collect some revenue, but it won't be enough for major tax cuts. More importantly, business costs will rise and many products will rise in price. If the tariffs harm the economies of Canada and other allies, these populations won't soon forget and the boycott of U.S. goods will become severe. It won't even matter at that point how low the tariffs go or if they're removed. That could be the worst aspect of tariffs for America long term. Canada will adapt to any scenario. Our domestic market and alternative markets have much potential, especially if we stop buying/importing U.S. goods, because we'll replace many of them with our own goods. It's all stupid of course, because so many of our products and companies are publicly traded and part-U.S. part-Canadian owned, but consumers will become increasingly fixated on not buying American content. Yes the U.S. is a bigger fish, but what happens when the rest of the world begin to act like a school of piranhas? This isn't the 1800's. The supply chains are integrated due to the rapid delivery made possible by modern transportation and communication technology. Global trade has added tremendous variety and opportunity to everyone, despite imbalances and lower income labour markets, which see incomes rise over time. Just look at Japan. The bigger worry in all of this is that we create inefficiency and add costs by no longer taking advantage of the availability of resources when producing items. We end up trying to do things in-house at a much higher cost or not being able to build certain things because we can't access the resources locally. Only a stupid government would let one person make such important decisions. Economists and companies have made the calculus over decades about how to produce, distribute, and sell their products with the greatest efficiency and profit margins. Tariffs scew that calculus completely by creating barriers strictly along national lines. The truth is that economies are ecosystems that funtion regionally. The Great Lakes industrial cities are a perfect example of this. Cascadia on the West Coast is another example. The Maritimes-New England economy is another example. If Trump really wants Canada to be integrated with the U.S. with the least political fallout for his party or the American way of life, the answer is economic union and leaving each country with its federal and regional governments intact. Drop all tariffs and allow the free flow of people, goods, and services between the two countries. You retain your citizenship (and can only vote in your home country) unless you apply for and get the other country's citizenship. The central banks and currencies in each country can remain. If a third currency is desirable that can be used in either country, its value could be fixed at the mid-point between the values of both national currencies, but I think we could just accept each other's national currencies at their exchange values. All national programs with regard to healthcare, etc., can be retained for the respective citizens of each country. It may be true that Canadians pay less for their military, and they should contribute more, but it's also true that the U.S. gets our oil and natural gas at a discount. They refine and resell it. We definitely need to refine our own oil and sell it domestically. We should be paying less at the pumps than the Americans. I hope we see a very significant price drop in gas when the carbon tax is eliminated.

  7. So there is a big debate among the economists. A side wants free trade, and insists that free trade by essence brings wealth to everyone, as countries with strategic advantages may sell goods for less, thus helping consumers with cheaper goods and bringing costs down as well for manufacturers. By getting cheap aluminium from Canada, the US then concentrates its manufacturing industry on transforming it, and brings added value. By contrasts, the other side wants tarriffs imposed to exterior trade partners, to stimulate industries inside their own economy. By adding a tarriff on imports on aluminium coming from Canada, some economists believe that local producers of said aluminiumi in the US will be more competitive, create more local aluminium and create jobs. The US clearly has shown signs that it would take the latter advice. Is it foolish? Is the US going to replace competitors from abroad by having at-home manufacturing, or are they just going to buy their goods for more, while nothing more will be produced inside the US? So far, markets don't like protectionism. The Dow Jones is not growing since the year started, and S&P500 dropped. What are your takes?

  15. Well that's true because uncertainty is unsettling. I would say the best way to whether any possible storm is to vote for Poilievre instead of the guy who wants to get rid of oil, gas, pipelines, or anything that's energy intensive such as smeltering or mining. As I've said yesterday on another thread, we have a relatively low carbon footprint when it comes to electrical power and manufacturing. Let's put it to good use not only for our advantage but the world's as well.

  17. Tariffs on aluminum isn't really going to affect Canadian smelters especially those in Quebec which has 8. Power is 1/2 of production costs, and due to low hydro electric power rates, energy prices can be 3 times lower than with U.S. counterparts. And get this... the aluminum association of Canada claims that 'most contracts between Canada and the U.S. have a clause built in agreeing that the American company purchasing Canadian aluminum pay whatever tariffs are put into place'. For some reason steel producers in Canada aren't quite so lucky, but they do have one thing going for them which is low energy costs meaning low carbon footprints. Beginning in 2026, the EU will introduce significant tariffs on materials based on carbon footprints which will make Canadian steel a bargain. If this lower carbon footprint tariff thing catches on around the world this might really be good for our economy.

  18. I clearly explained the parallel, which apparently went over your head. Read it again. I'll add to that - Hitler and Trump both have the same megalomanic leadership style - both have a messianic complex - they manipulate their base with lies that the entire country is "broken" and at risk of. being overrun with "vermin" and in the words of both Hitler and Trump "I alone can fix it." When Trump says "He who saves his Country violates no law." he is echoing Hitler. The "Führerprinzip" (Leader Principle) was the basis of executive authority in Nazi Germany, emphasizing a single, supreme leader (the Führer) whose word was law, with all subordinates expected to obey unquestioningly. Trump sees himself in the same way Hitler did - as "the genius, the man" who alone held the key to the country's destiny.

  47. By broken, you mean the strongest in the world? That's not what's broken. It's their government and their politics that are. There are two sides to finance: revenue and expenditure. US news media and politicians have been able to delude their voters into the myth of trickle-down economics for the last ~40 years, and the results have been predictable. Trump's 2017 tax cuts led to record-low (non recession) revenues, and he's about to compound the problem and make it far worse. The rich have become far richer, the middle-class has been squeezed, and US federal finances are a looming disaster. This is self-inflected pain.
