  1. Paul Collier wrote a book called Exodus some years ago which described the pitfalls of large scale immigration to the West from the third world. He pointed out that the degree to which immigrants assimilate is a function of the similarity of their native culture to that of the land they journey to. Thus European immigrants can immigrate into Canadian society relatively smoothly. However, the further away the culture and its values, the less likely immigrants are to adopt the ways of the new land and integrate. Instead they form diaspora communities to retain their old ways. And these diaspora communities can last generations without external pressure (of which there is currently very little in Canada). Bluntly speaking, the Middle Eastern Muslim communities are not going to integrate. Some individuals within might, but communities with such vastly different values, beliefs, and cultural histories are simply not going to integrate with a culture they regard as not just immoral but inferior. Especially when the cultural representatives of that (our) culture spend most of their time running their own culture down, self-accusing themselves of all manner of terrible things, and constantly apologizing to the newcomers for their shortcomings. We should never have taken this many Muslims in. And we should never have taken ANY Muslims in without careful screening for attitudes and beliefs. No screening is how we got the Khadrs, and how we get all these people in the streets screaming death to Jews. Of course, the irony is so many Jews were among the biggest supporters of immigration, and of multiculturalism and making allowances for the cultural issues involving newcomers. I guess they thought if they showed Muslims a welcoming embrace and helped them this might diffuse thousands of years of hatred. It didn't.

  2. post one example of anyone saying that they're both bad therefore they must both be lefties. You defend trudeau because he's on the left and you support the left over the right. You have never once made an intelligent defense of him that i've seen, you just rabidly blather at anyone who points out anything negative that he does And this is the problem. You're constantly dishonest in your posts. We see that for many of the left-wing posters. It was very hard to believe you when you say something like the current liberals are a right-wing party. The only way that's true is if you define anybody right of Castro as being right wing.

  3. Trump Was Incredibly Bad At Presidenting He's not a manager, he just played (a bad) one on TV. Q: How can you tell a manager is bad? A: He believes firing is always the solution to a problem.

  4. You can’t even compare the two. Trump never formally conceded. He continues to push his stolen election lies to this day and is already setting the stage for 2024 election lies in case he loses. In hoth 2016 and 2020 he said out loud he would only accept the election results if he won. He launched a number of schools to steal the 2020 election amd Jan 6 wasn’t peaceful. Clinton and Gore both officially conceded and didn’t push conspiracies and lies and try to steal the election. Hillary’s one-time offhand remark on a talk show THE VIEW doesn’t compare with Trump’s constant lies about the 2020 election that ha brainwashed millions of his mindless followers. Gore also never called Bush an illegitimate president. .No, you don’t understand the recount issue. Both sides disagreed on exactly which districts and polling stations should be recounted with Jeb Bush and republicans only wanting to recount districts that would likely be favourable to Bush and Gore wanting those favourable to Dems. In the end the Court ruled that Jeb as governor can count any way he pleases. What a STATE-WIDE review revealed afterwards was that Gore likely would NOT have won if the districts he requested had been recounted HOWEVER if the entire state had been recounted (which he didn’t request) he would have won.

  5. You think being a Homemaker is just being knocked up folding laundry? Look at you insulting all those women out there who invest time into their family to raise their children by reducing it to being knocked up and folding laundry. That it is below other ambitions that you say are "beyond" it. That this would not be part of her dreams. Shame on you.

  6. As i've mentioned but the left likes to gloss over, in countries like denmark where women have arguably the HIGHEST amount of choice and access to every kind of profession or vocation and where society pushes them to explore options , "wife and homemaker' is still the number one choice. When women have a choice, they most often (not always but most often) choose to bring children into the world and care for them and nurture them. There is NOTHING wrong with that. But the left would have us believe that any woman who thinks that way is straight out of the handmaidens tale and should be punished for allowing herself to be repressed like that.

  7. Sorry man - i generally respect your comments but that was complete leftist bullshit. He does not 'hedge' anything. He doesn't even say that they SHOULD feel one way or another. That is a lie that you and others are pushing because you're so heterophobic these days that any suggestion that a married couple with children is a good thing is taken as a person affront. He very clearly said that without a doubt some women will choose to have carrers but that he GUESSES that most of the ones WHO WERE PRESENT AT THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL EVENT would likely be most interested in being a wife and mother. Not even all women everywhere - he is talking to and refers directly to the women present. He also notes that a lot of women find that life very fulfilling and rewarding. Like his wife. You absolutely lie in the worst way by adding in all kinds of bullshit "round about way of saying" and "what he REALLY means is". He stated very clearly EXACTLY what he means. the sexist here is you. you cannot imagine that women might want to be mothers and wives. You look down on women who choose to be a home maker like it's some sort of undesirable thing to do or a form of slavery. You should be deeply ashamed of your reaction. It is sexist and bigoted and beneath you

  8. Trudeau isn’t as intelligent as Trump. Trudeau keeps saying things that make him look ridiculous. His latest attack on the NB Premier is another example. We get it that Trudeau, a fake Catholic who supports unlimited abortion up to the day of birth, would try to go after anyone who isn’t a leftist lunatic. Does he actually think the majority of the country doesn’t want parents of kids under 16 to know if their kids are being called another gender and name at school? How stupid is this man? The worst PM in the history of PMs anywhere. I wouldn’t let PM blackface near my kids. We need more leaders like Higgs and less creepers like Trudeau.

  11. He still has not conceded and still claims he is the legitimate president. All he did in that piece was acknowledge that it wasn’t going to happen. Trump organized the rally, tild them to march to the Capitol, continued to tweet incendiary remarks even after he knew what was happening and refused to tell them to stop Dems had nothing to do with BLM riots Not the same at all. Clinton said the vote was legitimate but voters acted based on fake news and Comey’s election night announcement of investigation that revealed nothing. Gore and Bush legitimately went to court because the Florida recount was required BY LAW but didn’t specify how the recount should be conducted. Gore conceded as soon as the court ruled that Bush’s brother Jeb can recount it anyway he pleases, which naturally favoured Bush. It is also a fact that if all ballots in the state had been recounted Gore would have won. And yet still Gore conceded and accepted the result even though he didn’t agree with it. That’s a big difference from Trump’s CONTINUED baseless 2020 election lies and his attempts to steal the election.

  12. Thats not how that works...sorry...Israelis soldiers have to be in uniform or performing a military function to be targeted ...if your dressed in civvies cloths and do not have some sort of indentation that marks you as a combatant and take part in military activities, that is a war crime "see hamas"......... But Hamas has not got the guts to attack a Israelis soldier performing their duties... they prefer to attack unarmed civilians, old men and women and children they move much slower, these are known as terrorist attacks, terrorist are not afforded any protection under the Geneva convention...... No once again that is not how that works, take the hospitals that are under special protection, meaning NO military operations allowed near or in the hospital, however if you use the hospital to store weapons, munitions, military supplies, then it voids those special protection laws, and the are now can be targets for military operations...If you launch rockets next to a school it losses it's protection values, and can be targeted...if you set up a military hq's or barracks that building can be attacked...Have you read the Geneva conventions ? The answer to your question can a hamas terrorist be targeted becasue of where he lives...Not unless he is a high valued target...if he is not then he is still subject to arrest, if he resists then force will be used, very unlikely they would waste a bomb on one person, unless he was a high value target...

  13. Kick them out. Demonstration in support of murderous Islamic Republic by terrorist lover immigrants who have their loyalty to Hamas and Islamic Republic carrying their flags on Canadian soil supporting the terrorists. I personally don't believe that multiculturalism is not working as an immigrant myself, Canada and its interests is first and foremost in my mind however, it is the Liberal approach to multiculturalism which is not working. That is opening the door to everyone and not deporting those who have their loyalties to foreign terrorist organizations. KICK THE TRAITORS OUT.

You don't get it, and most Canadians are also having the same problem....you don't understand the issues, you don't understand what it takes to defend your nation from terrorist...this will never end because of the hate that is breed everyday on both sides. This will stop one side is pushed into the sea.... Peace will never be forced upon them...ever...one side will have to be destroyed for this to end, in the next couple generations...and people like you will rejoice in the streets...

  16. Canada just started the largest tax increase you’ve never heard of - The Hub One such move sparked considerable debate: increasing capital gains taxes. This is an important debate to be had, to be sure, but there are other tax changes coming that have been completely lost in the shuffle. A significant increase in taxes on new business investment throughout the Canadian economy is most concerning of all. It is likely the largest tax increase you’ve never heard of. And it will lower investment and productivity at a time when we need more of both. For those who missed it, Canada will now be penalizing companies that invest In any new equipment, any capital investment, any new facilities or factories. At a time when investment capital is actually leaving Canada for the first time in history, the liberals have now don even further to discourage companies from spending money here. This is how the left wing works. The only thing they know how to do, and it drives business away.

  19. I actually think we do know how to run services. I think the problem is people think they should or deserve more and more and there is no end to what they want. Hence, complaints about services....all services. There are finite resources and hence, finite services. Like a wise person once said, and it is so true "The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else" They also said "You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving." That is my take on guaranteed income ....sorry for the off topic

  20. Maybe Butker wants women to stay home cause, when women play on men’s football teams, it’s his position they play.
    1 point
  21. Well, I am one of those that finds no fault in a woman not wanting to have kids or waiting. If they pursue the degree/career first and then the family. Men have followed this path for decades.. why can't the women? Some think that by waiting. they have fewer kids and that is not the optimal way to be. I would rather have quality of interaction over quantity. I have 2 and that's enough. My late father created six and as a result, worked very hard and was either not around or in too poor of health for quality interaction.
    1 point
  22. That's fine with me. I wish her luck with family and career. Do you think that she wishes to get an education because she has been fed a "diabolical lie" about finding fulfillment outside of her role as a homemaker? That's what Butker told those women in attendance. As they stood there, waiting for their diplomas, excited to see where their 4+ years of hard work could take them he told them it was all a lie. That he--and Jesus--want them to go make babies instead. You've wasted 4 years ladies, happy graduation.

  23. Bullshit. They can't be "subverting" a law that isn't even relevant to their jurisdiction. Name the law. Name the jurisdiction. And the SCOTUS has spilled ink explaining the purpose of the pardon power. Trump (though not alone) clearly has and would again use that power for other purposes. You can't even be serious. The framers sat down and drafted a constitution specifically to separate powers and responsibilities to allow local governance to foster local interests. They did not sit down and draft pardon powers with the expectation that the POTUS would be unethical enough to use it to do himself legal and political favors. You know full well that that is not what Madison and Hamilton had in mind. That kind of behavior was almost unthinkable to those idealists.

  25. It was insane and so was the public reaction. There were literally large numbers of people posting on social media at the time that they would rather see innocent people die than be treated by people who refused Covid vaccines. This wasn't even just at the beginning, this was after omicron when we knew very well that the vaccines did nothing to prevent transmission for that variant. And well after we had tests capable of determining whether or not someone had covid. I was absolutely flabbergasted at the time. Mind you, this is a society that reacted to a possible worldwide shutdown of the supply chain and a horribly deadly transmittable illness by hoarding toilet paper. In times of crisis people go bat crap crazy. They will do things as a group that absolutely nobody would consider saying or reasonable ordinarily. People often ask how it was possible for it Hitler to rise to power, or how he was able to convince people to capturing the Jews was fair. Or any other of a dozen examples in history. It's an important lesson. During times of Crisis people lose their crap. If people are scared or concerned they can be talked into anything. Even things that are obviously harmful we'll see perfectly normal under such circumstances. That's why the left has a saying that no good crisis should go to waste. They frequently use any crisis to try and pass laws or the like that they would never get through in normal circumstances

  26. It's factually incorrect. No denying that. Charitably, I could say it may feel true to Biden. He did step into office in the middle of an unprecedented economic disaster and they did spend the first year trying to navigate that. And after they navigated that crisis (which drove inflation in multiple ways) they (the fed, mostly) did rein in inflation. The Trump stimulus and the Biden stimulus both contributed to inflation, but the primary driver was the pandemic disrupting the supply chain. Supplies go down, prices go up = inflation. At any rate, he should stop saying that. It's false.

  29. I do not agree. Pardon powers, like any powers attached to public office, are supposed to be exercised in the public interest. Sanctuary cities are acting in the public interest. Trump has used and would again use the pardon power to act in his self interest.
    1 point
  30. Lol. It's not a subversion of the law. It's explicitly how our legal system is designed, with intent. It is the law. And sanctuary cities have compelling reasons--responsibilities to their citizens--to keep their law enforcement officers from enforcing federal law.

  31. Did anyone else see the whole thing? He got a standing ovation. They absolutely loved it. So what is the problem here?
    1 point
  32. No, it is clear that Trump will try another rebellion if he loses in November.
    1 point
  33. No, no its not the same intent at all. The phrase get back into the kitchen is a common insulting and demeaning one. If what he said was so awful, then actually quote what he said. Inventing something he didn't say to make it sound worse is just that. The reason why you folks won't actually quote Butker and explain exactly why what he said is bad is because you can't. Even now, you do the same thing: You have to talk about what it "seems" he is saying, because he didn't actually say that.
    1 point
  34. The left? Lol. Yeah, they do. So does "the right." And everybody in the middle. That's the way our laws work. For example, marijuana is illegal at the federal level, but legal or decriminalized in half the states. State law enforcement is not required --and often not allowed -- to enforce federal law. We have different court systems too.

  35. I think he SAID it's for women to decide - and what he also said is he BELIVES that lots of women will decide that's a great idea. At no point does he even suggest women shouldn't decide or even that they shouldn't have great careers in business if they want - but he guesses that the majority will decide in the end that being a mom and wife is a great idea. Or are you one of those guys who believe that lying about what someone said is valid as long as it supports your echo chamber?

  36. Lol again, you completely made up this "active duty" thing. There's no such distinction made in international law. You're saying a Hamas members' house is a military objective regardless of whether that person is participating in any military operations and therefore "on active duty." You are simply too stupid to understand the implications of your own argument. Again, that's a you being stupid problem. New record for b!tchmad emojis here.

  37. He absolutely did not, that's just in your head. And you're presuming he didn't talk to his wife about his speech before he gave it, which is a pretty silly assumption. You didn't think he made it up on the spot did you. He spoke very respectfully of women. But you on the left assume that unless someone says a woman ONLY should be the chair of a major corporation or a doctor that they're being 'spoken down to'. Which is indeed the 'great diabolic lie' he's referring to. Saying that it's somehow WRONG for a woman to want to be a wife and mother is truly talking down to them

  39. Rofl "Mixed households of American citizens and undocumented immigrants qualify for household based benefits!" That's your argument? You either want to take away rights from American citizens, want to split up households by taking their children away from their parents, or hate your constitution but I'm not sure what. Regardless you aren't making the argument you say you're making. And it's also ignoring the fact that undocumented immigrants still pay taxes despite their personal ineligibility for most services paid for by those taxes, paying far more in taxes than even the stuff you're complaining about. Social Security alone probably would have failed by now if it wasn't for undocumented immigrants.

  41. Trump is in essence an amalgam of three infamous American Presidents Andrew Jackson, Theodore Roosevelt & Richard Nixon the brutish vulgarian style is literally called "Jacksonian" after Andrew Jackson Theodore Roosevelt led a Republican populist revolt against the Gilded Age Oligarchs called "Bull Moose" and then Richard Nixon went to war against the Establishment, particularly the news media if you combine Jacksonian, Nixonian & Bull Moose, you get Trump although I don't think it is Trump himself who thought all this up, but rather his political guru ; Roger Stone

  44. Yes, subjectively some Americans may feel other Presidents are more criminal, but objectively Trump's list is so absurdly long and most Presidents aren't objectively criminal at all. What an American way of thinking about things. The world doesn't revolve around America. In fact, Trump actively worked to erode America's influence around the world during his presidency so America is even less important to the general trends of the globe than ever. Cost of living has gone up everywhere in the world, it's not something America is responsible for. As for a "less peaceful" world? Trump encouraged war between Israel and Palestine instead of diplomacy despite the looming deadlines of the Oslo accords approaching by moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, Trump gave Putin endorsement to arrange forces for his invasion of Ukraine, Trump publicly toyed with the idea of nuking countries he didn't like. Is it any wonder the world is less peaceful now than it was before Trump's presidency? Trump has arguably done more to destabilize world peace than any American President in Living Memory, which is surprising since he hasn't even personally started any wars. In Comparison Biden hasn't started any wars and has tried to repair America's relations and influence. I'll admit I don't take the border situation as seriously as right wingers. Xenophobia isn't really a respectable basis for governing policy, and the more people living in America the stronger the country becomes. Your country is popular, what can I say. People feel safer living in America under Biden than they did under Trump, huge success that, but it does mean your country is going to have more people trying to live in it which puts more stress on your borders. What have republicans in charge of the house proposed to fix the problem? What's your preferred solution? Turn America into a shithole that nobody wants to move to? As for people on the streets chanting "Death to America, Death to Israel" well, I suppose you can blame Biden for that. Biden's US has steadfastly opposed Palestinian membership in the United Nations, if it wasn't for the recent US veto Palestine would have a much stronger negotiating position to end Israel's occupation of their land and achieve Peace. But Biden at least has been critical of Israel, whereas Trump has openly encouraged Israel to exterminate every last Arab in Palestine. I can't imagine how the people in the streets situation would have been any better under any Republican President than under Biden, and you act like there weren't protests under Trump or something or as if an attempted coup was less serious than some college campuses being occupied. I mean I can imagine ways the situation could be worse, Military law and extra judicial executions or political imprisonment of protestors, or civil war perhaps, but maybe you see murdering protestors as an improvement and are upset that Biden isn't a psychopath.

Gee if a full blown war with Iran would be such a walk in the park, I wonder why no one has thought of it in the last 50 years? Either you have no idea what you're talking about or the entire foreign policy establishment in multiple states is clueless. I know which I'm betting on.
