  1. This weekend, the CPC is holding their policy convention in Quebec. I've been to several Conservative policy conventions and they are always a lot of fun. I spent this morning going through the resolutions that will be discussed. The thing about reolutions at these events is they are not binding on the leadership. I recall hearing about the resolution passed at an NDP convention years ago, that called for Canada to pull out of NATO. The leader, Ed Broadbent reportedly said, "That's nuts." The story may be apocryphal. Anyway, there were a couple of resolutions that called for fair treatment for veterans and another calling for bail reform. Not bad. Another resolution dealt with the CBC. "We believe that the control and operations of the CBC/SRC as an entity should be accomplished through independent, non-governmental funding." A few weeks ago, I had the chance to speak with my MP. He said the plan is to preserve funding for the French network and the radio arm of the CBC and reduce funding (not eliminate) to the English language TV arm. The resolution does not elaborate on what the "non-governmental funding" would look like. Where it gets really interesting is when you look at the resolutions to cut taxes: "Capital gains on the sale of Canadian equities and capital property are currently subject to personal income taxation on 50% of the net capital gain. The Conservative Party supports elimination of taxation on capital gains accrued by Canadian holders of Canadian equities and property to a lifetime maximum of $1,000,000." "We believe that there should be no federally imposed carbon taxes or cap and trade systems on either the provinces and territories or on the citizens of Canada." Then you have the resolutions calling for spending a whole lot of money. ""We believe the government should introduce a system of program evaluation to ensure that all major government spending programs are independently evaluated on a regular basis. This will ensure that programs are meeting government priorities and delivering value for money." As they used to say about the CPR, they will spend a $1000to save a $1. Capital gains on the sale of Canadian equities and capital property are currently subject to personal income taxation on 50% of the net capital gain. The Conservative Party supports elimination of taxation on capital gains accrued by Canadian holders of Canadian equities and property to a lifetime maximum of $1,000,000. A Conservative Government will take steps to address the needs of Canadian Seniors by: 1. Increasing OAS and GIS benefits in line with Public Servant cost of living increases. 2. Providing additional tax credits for low-income seniors; and 3. Offering additional financial assistance for those Canadian Seniors struggling with the cost of living. The Conservative Party believes that all Canadians should have a reasonable opportunity to own their own homes and to have access to safe and affordable housing. We support a broad-based tax relief, income support programs and tax incentives to make home ownership and rental accommodation more attainable and accessible. We will encourage financial institutions to develop a framework that allows for the consideration of a potential homeowner’s previous rental payment history when applying for a mortgage. We believe that all governments should address homelessness by assisting in the provision of shelters and by recognizing, addressing and seeking solutions to contributing factors of homelessness. We believe the government should partner and link with the respective jurisdictions of provincial, territorial and municipal governments, business initiatives and the work of social agencies and non-profit organizations, in dealing with housing, homelessness, social infrastructure and related support services, such as skills development, literacy, substance abuse treatment, health and social development. We believe the government should work with the provinces and municipalities to develop framework agreements that help low-income city dwellers access affordable housing, through the use of tax incentives for private sector builders. We recognize that most renters live in urban centres, and that the pressures of population growth as well as certain economic factors have made it increasingly difficult for many renters to find housing. We believe in increasing the small business revenue threshold for registering and charging GST/HST, from the original 1991 rate of $30,000, to its current inflation adjusted value, and then have it indexed yearly based on the Statistics Canada All-items Consumer Price Index at the all-Canada level." And then on Defence spending: "The Conservative Party of Canada supports Canada’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the principle of collective security. A Conservative Government will work towards spending at least the NATO recommended two (2) percent of our GDP on National Defence. As an Indo-Pacific nation, Conservatives support Canada joining the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD Group) for strategic military cooperation, as well as charting a path to membership in the new elite defence pact AUKUS. The Conservative Party of Canada believes that it is a fundamental purpose of Canadian defence policy to: 1. Defend our democratic freedom and territorial integrity, as it is the highest obligation of our federal government. 2. Preserve our current obligations, regionally and internationally. 3. Join forces with our allies, when in Canada’s best interests, to defend the rights and freedoms of peoples throughout the world. The Conservative Party of Canada will ensure Canada’s defence policy uses our foreign policy in guiding Canada’s national defence priorities. Defence starts at home and the threat environment has increased beyond our capabilities. Conservatives will meet these threats head-on by modernizing the Canadian Armed Forces. The Conservative Party of Canada supports increasing resources for the military in the Canadian North in defence of our northern sovereignty and security, including improving detection and response capability, and creating local benefits including multi-user, multi-purpose infrastructure that leaves a positive legacy for northern communities. Now just to repeat, "1. Defend our democratic freedom and territorial integrity, as it is the highest obligation of our federal government." This is a policy I have advocated for over fifty years. But I suspect the authors of this resolution haven't adequately considered how much tax money this would cost. The additional comitment to NATO is already going to add another $15 to $18 billion to the Defence budget. That is nothing compared to fulfilling defending our territorial integrity. Then there are resolutions dealing with healthcare: "A Conservative government will protect children by prohibiting life altering medicinal or surgical interventions on minors under 18 to treat gender confusion or dysphoria, and encourage positive mental and physical health support for all Canadians suffering from gender dysphoria and related mental health challenges." "Every Canadian is entitled to informed consent and bodily autonomy. Health professionals must disclose an uncensored risk benefit analysis for any treatment (including vaccines) while protecting patient privacy. No constitutional right shall be restricted for refusing medical treatments or disclosure. Our country shall promote a scientific, unprejudiced, balanced, open discourse." The second resolution contradicts the first. If you are trans, you already know it by the time you are 13 or 14. Nobody tells you you are trans. You already know it. The first resolution prohibits the actions specified in the second. A trans-gender person "is entitled to informed consent and bodily autonomy." Like the government of Saskatchewan, the people who come up with these ideas never talk to the individuals most affected by them. Finally, there is this one. I believe the whole country agrees with this one: (Even if it looks like it was lifted from the NDP policy book.) "The Conservative Party believes all Canadians should have reasonable access to timely, quality health care services, regardless of their ability to pay.The provinces and territories should have maximum flexibility to ensure the delivery of medically necessary health services within a universal, public health care system. We support adding a sixth principle to the Canada Health Act to provide stable and transparent federal funding." This post is not a criticism of the CPC policy convention. On the contrary, it shows a healthy willingness to listen to the membership. My MP was on Global news and he pointed out there are always resolutions that make you shake your head. Some of the resolutions appear to be unaware that they are addressing issues that have already been solved. There are some that contradict others. Many are just mom and apple pie. But on the whole, it is not a package I could vote for. For one thing, it calls for a major spending spree. A policy convention is not the place to discuss tax increases, but anyone reading this will know to expect a larger deficit or a significant tax increase. Most importantly, there was no reference at all regarding the core conservative values of a party that calls itself conservative. But, I will reserve judgement to see what comes out the other end.

  2. bear in mind the citation tho “Although he was alone, severely injured, and under sustained enemy fire in his exposed position at the ruined observation post, he aggressively provided covering fire over the otherwise undefended flank of his company’s position, Private Larochelle’s heroic actions permitted the remainder of the company to defend their battle positions and to successfully fend off the sustained attack of more than 20 insurgents." A private with 9 Platoon, Charles Company, 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment, Larochelle volunteered to man a perimeter observation post (OP) in the face of an impending attack by a numerically superior force of Taliban fighters. It was Oct. 14, 2006, and Larochelle had no sooner taken up his position than it was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), throwing the machine-gunner several metres back and into the rear wall of the OP. The concussive blast and impact had knocked him out, broken his back, fractured two vertebrae in his neck, blown his right eardrum and detached his right retina. His spinal cord was intact, but he was peppered with shrapnel. Larochelle regained consciousness, gathered his wits, and made his way to the position’s one surviving C6 machine gun. He didn’t know it yet, but two of his comrades were dead and pretty much the rest of his LAV III crew wounded by another RPG strike just a few metres away. Their armoured vehicle, the forward-most of several on-site, along with its 25mm chain gun and machine gun, was virtually disabled for the duration of the battle. Larochelle was alone up front, the point man as some 40 enemy fighters closed on his position. Under heavy fire from AK-47s and RPGs, including 75mm munitions packed with cluster rounds, Larochelle fired continuously in bursts of three to five 7.62mm rounds, his gun barrel smoking and shell casings piling up around him as he shot. He fired multiple rounds from his position’s cache of 15 disposable M72 rocket launchers—lifesavers and devastating killers. By the time the remaining attackers withdrew and the fighting had all but subsided an hour or so later, Larochelle was down to two M72s and the last 100 of his 800 heavy machine-gun rounds. The ground outside his OP was littered with dead Taliban. He was restocked after he volunteered to remain at his post for the night. in the British, Australian or New Zealand Army's, that's a Victoria Cross, hands down, do doubt literally only Canada would fail to award a VC for that valour in the face of overwhelming odds

  3. That’s not what you do when there’s an accusation against any liberals or Democrats. Why do you MAGAs always insist that everyone else follow the rules when you make a deliberate point of not doing that yourself? You MAGAs wanted to throw out the results of an election and install your leader as president without “an actual verdict”…. inf act despite more than 60 “actual verdicts” that said your election claims wee total BS and without any merit whatsoever. Talk about shit stained fingers! Hypocrite

  4. The names, personal details and GPS coordinates of the grand jurors in the Trump cases have been posted on MAGA websites hosted on Russian web servers, where US officials can’t take them down. So yeah; MAGA knows no bounds of how low they’ll stoop.

  5. There absolutely is a MAGA cult. A US President tried--in plain view of every American--to overturn an election loss and seize power. He made a lot of unfounded claims and excuses on the way to doing so, but ultimately that's what he did. Think about the gravity of that. How extreme and unimaginable it would have been just 10 years ago when Donald Trump was more appropriately cast as a reality TV star. Back then, if someone had told you that an American president would attempt a sort of coup to stay in power, you probably would have laughed. That was inconceivable. Something that only happened in failing or less developed countries. Yet here we are. Consider this: Among those who plan to vote for Trump, 71% feel that what he tells them is true — higher than the results for friends and family (63%), conservative media figures (56%) or religious leaders (42%). Isn't that remarkable? A lifelong huckster and fabulist, who has, beyond any question lied to you thousands of times, run scam businesses, stolen from his own charity, and been demonstrably untrustworthy in so many other ways, is more trusted than friends and family? People are sending him money like he's a televangelist--and in many ways he is. And what's even more amazing is that it wasn't just believing him in the heat of the moment when passions were high. Now, years later, after people like Giuliani and Sidney Powell have admitted in court that they lied--that they simply made the stuff up--you people still believe it. After FOX news behind-the-scenes emails plainly state they they knew they were lying to you, you still believe it. It boggles the mind. Politics would be saying that the Democrats have the wrong ideas and we need a Republican in the White House at all costs. A cult is saying that this one unsavory character is the primary source of truth, forgiving his assault on your democracy and all other transgressions, denying obvious wrongdoing and trying to put him back in power. That's not politics anymore. It's a straight up cult. If he had a compound on a farm somewhere, those people would be dressed in white robes drinking whatever kind of Kool-Aid he mixed up. Instead, he wants the White House.

  6. No, there is nothing at all wrong with being homosexual. It has existed as long as written history. Homosexuals do not make me feel threatened or uncomfortable, because I am completely comfortable in my skin. Two guys holding hands or kissing in public is FREEDOM, and I love freedom. It doesn’t bother me one bit. Kids I knew in third and fourth grade who were tomboys or effeminate turned out to be gay later in life. Those people were always that way. Others discovered themselves later in life. This is how it should be. People should not be repressed into marrying who they don’t want to marry. They shouldn’t be told they are second class to you or anyone. People like you want to think you’re better than others because you’re Christian, white, male and straight. None of those things make you any better than anyone else. I’ve accomplished things in my life. That is why I am now a man of leisure with the time to write on the Internet. I started with nothing, worked hard, and prospered. So I don’t need to feel as though my skin color, gender, or sexual choices make me any better than anyone else.

  7. Just great. And what is? Anything? If the leadership of a parliamentary party (a real one, in a multi-party parliament) lost confidence of the members it would be out the next vote. And they know it very well. And in Canada, they know.

  9. Once you accept that there’s nothing wrong with being homosexual, you will realize that the person making the insult is a dope. I don’t know if Rob is gay or not and I don’t care. The only gay people who bother me are the homos like you who repress it and refuse to accept that they’re gay. Just admit your true self and embrace it. There’s nothing wrong with your homosexuality! Really!

Not a lot of Canadians realize how great a price many of our soldiers paid for their service. My condolences to the friends, family and compatriots of Pte. Larochelle. He is a great loss to all of Canada.

  11. It's all just propaganda, folks. There has been 1600 scientists and 7 top economists that have said that a climate crisis does not exist. It's all just a fraud. All this nonsense about all of this dangerous carbon in the air is a lie. The more carbon in the air the more plant life will grow and survive which is great for we humans because plants give off oxygen which helps keep we humans alive. Without carbon plants or humans or animals would not be here. While the west tries to impose carbon taxes to tries to stop all carbon emissions, in China, they are building more and more coal powered plants. So, why we taxpayer's in the west have to sacrifice our normal lives and pay carbon taxes to fight climate change, the Chinese just keep adding more carbon in the air. This climate crisis is all about the money, like everything else is in life. When our politicians and the lying and fake MSM try and push an agenda, like with climate change crisis today, one should know by now that it has to be all bullshit. When was the last time our politicians and the MSM told the truth about anything, except what they want we the sheeple to believe? I do not believe in a climate crisis and neither should you. There are many scammers out there making plenty of money off this climate crisis scam. Al Gore being one of them. Gore hav mad millions trying to get people all up in a panic over nothing, and make plenty of dollars from it. Yet, these same liar like Gore refuse to heed their own warnings and words. Gore will still fly by private jet, drive big gas guzzling SUV'S and own several homes. These liars laugh at those who believe their lies. Come on people, wake the hell up, will you. Stop listening to those liars. They are just trying to make big bucks off of trying to scare you half to death. What say you? Source: The Iron Will Report. ☺️

  13. Audio: Michigan fake elector outlines Jan. 6 plan to present Mike Pence with "dueling electors" Meshawn Maddock admitted to collusion with Trump lawyers in a 2020 radio interview: report Tatyana Tandanpolie One of the fake Republican electors in Michigan explained in December 2020 that the plan to use fake electors to certify a win for Donald Trump in their state arose from conversations with "some very incredible constitutional attorneys" from the former president's campaign. Meshawn Maddock, one of 16 false electors in Michigan charged in July for the alleged plot, described the Trump campaign-headed plan in detail during a Dec. 16, 2020, radio interview, recalling that the decision on which electors to use would be left to a constitutional attorney, then-vice president Mike Pence and Congress, according to a CNN KFile review of the interview. The newly uncovered conversation exposes Maddock's extensive knowledge of the Trump campaign's role in the scheme to usurp Joe Biden's electors and contradicts her previous comments claiming a "vague" recollection of the plot when questioned about CNN's reporting on the campaign's involvement last year. Maddock has previously said that the fake Republican electors were not intended to replace the legitimate pro-Biden electors, but her comments about Pence in the 2020 interview demonstrate her understanding that the fake slate could have overtaken the legitimate votes on Jan. 6, 2021. Despite the former president losing Michigan by over 150,000 votes, Maddock and the 15 others fake electors signed certificates falsely asserting their legitimacy in the state just days before the interview and attempted to enter the state capitol to deliver the votes. "I'm no constitutional attorney," Maddock said in the interview with local radio host Steve Gruber. "I'm an elector for Donald Trump from the Michigan Republican Party. I along with the other 15 electors were guided by legal minds – attorneys for our president, some very incredible constitutional attorneys – I've never in my whole life appreciated legal minds and attorneys before." Maddock did not name the Trump attorneys she referenced, CNN reports. Despite showing in the interview that she understood the specifics of the fake electors plot, Maddock has more recently claimed that she doesn't recall many of the details. "I can tell you that in the last few weeks, just some incredible minds," she added. "And from what I understand, you know, you have the federal constitutional law, and then you have state statutes, um, and they're two different things. So, what we did, uh, along with seven other states, really send in dueling electors, and that will be there before, um, you know, a federal constitutional attorney, and it'll be before, uh, Mike Pence and Congress to make that decision." Maddock, who is also the spouse of a conservative state legislator, went on to become the co-chair of Michigan's Republican Party following the 2020 election and presided over the group's 2022 losses during the midterms. She regurgitated some of Trump's most contentious false voter fraud claims and eventually deleted a tweet spreading an unfounded conspiracy theory that Dominion Voting Systems had altered votes during the 2020 election. She declined CNN's request for comment. In the December 2020 interview, she also referenced the 1960 election in Hawaii where pro-Kennedy electors were sent to the National Archives alongside Republican electors, an example Trump campaign attorneys used to support their argument in memos detailing their fake electors plans. However, the differences between Michigan's 2020 election and Hawaii's 1960 election are significant. Richard Nixon's win in Hawaii was reversed after a recount — in which John F. Kennedy and Nixon were separated by less than 150 votes — thus handing its electoral votes to the Democrat. In Michigan, Biden had over 150,000 more votes than Trump and the results were never a question. Despite showing in the interview that she understood the specifics of the fake electors plot, Maddock has more recently claimed that she doesn't recall many of the details. "A lot of that is still vague to me. And I don't have any email communications with any of these people," Maddock told Gruber in a separate July 2023 interview when asked which attorneys asked her to sign the fake election certificates. Want a daily wrap-up of all the news and commentary Salon has to offer? Subscribe to our morning newsletter, Crash Course. She then seemingly pushed responsibility onto the last state party chairperson, Laura Cox, saying that "somebody from her staff contacted all of us, asked us to be at the Michigan Republican Party office at 2 pm." In a deposition with the House select committee, which investigated the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, Cox said the Trump campaign asked her to "facilitate having the electors meet and sign some sort of document." The request, she explained, made her uncomfortable. "So, we came up with a document that we would have them have a ceremonial meeting, and one person would sign a document stating that if perhaps something were to happen in the courts, they were willing and able to serve as electors from Michigan for Donald Trump and Mike Pence," Cox said. Maddock and the 15 other fake electors were charged in July for their roles in the Trump campaign plan to overturn the 2020 election results in the state by enlisting the help of false electors. Each indicted individual was charged with eight state felonies: two counts of forgery, one count of conspiracy to commit forgery, one count of publishing a counterfeit record, one count of conspiring to publish a counterfeit record, two counts of election law forgery and one count of conspiracy to commit election law forgery. All 16 pleaded not guilty to the charges. https://www.salon.com/2023/09/07/audio-michigan-fake-elector-outlines-jan-6-plan-to-present-mike-pence-with-dueling-electors/

  17. OFFS, yes, you twit. Of course they are two different things. That's why "sedition" is one word and "seditious conspiracy" is two words. The latter has a noun (conspiracy) that is described by an adjective (seditious). You seem to think that sedition REQUIRES a conspiracy. That's simply not the case. Sedition exists on its own as a noun just fine. Someone can be engaged in sedition. It could be used an adjective to describe many nouns. Seditious rant. Seditious literature. Seditious conspiracy. Seditious mob. This is how the English language works. Save yourself further embarrassment and look up the definition of sedition. (The speaking or writing of words that are likely to incite ordinary people to public disorder or insurrection.) Then decide whether you really want to keep arguing that the mob wasn't seditious. (You shouldn't. It's an asinine argument.)

You make stupid statements, i point out the simple truth, you freak out. And i'm trying to pick a fight Sorry kiddo. The truth is simple. The gov't can always undo and skirt laws designed to hold it accountable, it is up to the public to hold THEM accountable by punishing them when they do Instead you insist on defending and rewarding them. YOU are the problem. not the CPC and not anyone else.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but when was the last time you seen a trans man compete professional in men's sports, and frankly i don't think many men would really care if a women changed in the men's locker room to be honest, atleast not to the extent of vice versa......The question has been put to men attempting to be women why not just have a 3 rd league, where trans community can compete on their own, with each other, i don't think they are interested in it, or it would have been splashed over the media, these men are more interested in winning via superior biology for a much needed ego boost. And if that is the case why does it have to be at the expense of women...does not seem that fair...

  22. Well as usual you have to lie to try to make your point. Nobody said "with impunity". But... what do you think capital punishment was? That is a law that says "its ok to murder someone, and not for self defense but to punish them". So for many years the gov't had every right to kill people. And they could bring that law back tomorrow. The gov't could literally pass a law that said "notwithstanding the charter, anyone who uses the name 'eyeball' online shall be subject to summary execution". And if they did, they could kill you quite lawfully. That's the truth. Now - one would hope that before they did the people would freak out and try to put a stop to it and vote them out (might win them a few votes in SOME circles nyuk nyuk) but until that happened - perfectly legal. Look at the powers police get to kill people - far more than you or I. So sorry - it is the absolute truth. Gov'ts DO have the ability to pass such laws and in the past our gov'ts have done so. Remember - it's only murder if its' against the law. Otherwise it's just homicide. So - it's no surprise that given the gov't has the power to do that, that the liberals pass laws and abuse laws to be corrupt. I know you don't understand how our gov't works or our laws. We've discussed that before. But you need to think about these things a little more.

  23. Its all subjective and everyone has their own tastes and preferences. Have been to 25 or so breweries 12 states (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Minnesota, New York, and Missouri). My preference is for the stronger ales (9.0% ABV or greater and at least 70 IBU). However, have developed a taste for the German varietals lately such as Dunkelweizen, Bock, Maibock, Oktoberfest, etc. What separates one from another is their ability to make more than one style and does their product not have the stale almond flavor in the back. When brewers get lazy and either do not clean their equipment or crank up the yeast.. that is when you get the off taste. Anyways, that is my 2 cents.

  24. By not being corrupt. Of course - he runs the very real chance of alienating liberal supporters doing that. Which nobody said. So once again you feel the need to lie to prop up your position Which means you're probably lying about voting for an anti corruption platform. But we knew that. You actively support corruption and spend most of your time here defending it. So. There you go Liberals have a bad habit of accusing others of their own crimes hoping it will deflect. Liberals are corrupt. Liberal party mp's are frequently caught being corrupt. The liberal prime minister has been caught being corrupt. The liberal voters support this corruption despite having been informed of it. Liberals are, by their nature, corrupt. But it's all the conservatives fault because they don't do enough to stop corruption ROFLMAO!!!!! If we took away the rigth of liberal supporters to vote corruption would vanish overnight

  25. I've lived in Ottawa almost all my life. I know damned well that every government at every level is going to help out its friends and those who donate money to it. Patronage is a fact of life. I only get bothered by it when it starts costing the public money, like when the government directs a fat contract to someone who can't properly do it, or who gives companies contracts for things that are greatly overpriced and could be supplied elsewhere cheaper, or when it hires people to do jobs that don't need doing, or for which they're not qualified. Asf ar as I can tell this didn't cost the public a penny. And it'll get some housing built. Win-win, as far as I'm concerned. Besides, as I've said before, under the Century Initiative, the greenbelts are doomed anyway. If you want to triple or quadruple the population of southern Ontario the greenbelts have to go.

Andrew Coyne said Pierre Poilievre shouldn't be where he is, especially in Ontario, but he is. Chantel Hebert pointed out that even liberal MP's see Prime Minister Trudeau as a leader with no plan and no hope. I'm paraphrasing but the consensus is that there is nothing left in the liberal toolkit that can turn this around. At least, that is how I interpreted it. If Mr. Poilievre can sustain this momentum until election day, he will win big, really big.

  32. They probably should have been compensated, perhaps that would have been the better way to ensure the protection would last. In any case it seems you're not the least bit concerned about what's abhorrent in the public's mind. I don't know, perhaps you're a Liberal, I've been told they appreciate corruption. The only real faux pas Ford is guilty of is getting caught. It's another example off something I've noted before about corruption and Conservatives, they suck at it. They always get caught and seem to pay a higher political price I for it. If you really do believe corruption is the grease that makes the economy work and without which we'd be a poorer nation you probably should vote for the party that's better at it don't you think?

  33. Ad revenues. They mean ad revenues. Possibly memberships if the cbc wants to go that way. As to the other resolutions - you claim they'll 'cost butloads of money' but they won't. proper reviews and such save more money than they cost by far. IF the libs do it - THEN it costs more because they'll hire friends who'll charge 10 times the going rate Most of the resolutions are about saving money. Taxing people less and spending less. It's all good stuff for discussion and hashing out - a leader is not compelled to follow it but if they don't, they could find themselves in hot water pretty quick. But yeah - they're not held to the crazier ideas.

  34. A string walks into a bar, the bartender just looks at him and says: "Sorry, we don't serve strings here." The string walks outside, loops himself into a knot, tousles his end to make it all frizzy, and walks back in. The Bartender looks at him and says: "Hey, aren't you the piece of string that just walked in here a minute ago?" The string says: "No, I'm a frayed knot." Do you get it? I'm a frayed knot? (sounds like: "I'm afraid not" ?) Guess what else.... Pieces of string can't actually walk and talk, and they can't tie themselves in knots or tousle their ends either. It's just a joke, but for some reason I feel like I need to explain that to you.

  35. I think it's safe to say the situation with inflation and corruption will improve radically I'm sure that'll honk you off I doubt we'll be talking about pronouns as much. ANd as for climate change, i think (but am just guessing) that we'll see more adaptation and less useless taxation. The hatred and anger in teh country will likely die down a little without trudeau to push it anymore.

  36. Ed Begley Jr is the only famous person that I can even think of who cares about the environment and practices what he preaches. Trudeau, Gore, DiCaprio, Kerry, Clinton, Gates, Sanders, Suzuki, etc all pontificate to us from private jets, mega-yachts and/or one of their many houses. Some of these guys have the carbon footprint of a small town but they want to force you to sell your Civic and ride a bike in the winter.

  37. No, the President cannot pardon anyone for a state conviction. Trump has been charged with violating Georgia’s RICO law, not Federal RICO law. This reminds me of the time when Trump lost the elections and you guys were certain the Kraken would be released and Trump would win. Remember? Now you’re convinced that he can violate as many laws as he wants and avoid prison. If he’s innocent of these crimes, he wouldn’t need $100 million in lawyers to defend him. And he wouldn’t file an endless stream of motions trying to delay delay delay. He will probably spend more on lawyers than any person in history. And he’s still going to lose. Cause he committed these crimes.

  38. Hmmm...not the story I remember. What I remember is that the Iroquois demanded the reserves in exchange for helping the colonists fend off the US attacks.

  39. The thing that's really encouraging for Conservative voters is that this increase is slow and steady and across the board. It's happening everywhere all at once, it's not a flash in the pan. I think even changing leaders right now wouldn't prevent the libs from being defeated. People are actually deciding PP is someone worth voting for on his own merits, not just an alternative to trudeau. If polievre keeps working it and gets his people out there as well and doesn't let off or assume the win, then this could be an absolutely epic landslide come election time.

  40. A real leader would have met with the protestors and listened to their concerns. Whether that would have been enough to defuse the rising tensions is another question, but a real leader wouldn't have gone into hiding and start releasing derogatory snipets for the press. Trudeau is not a leader, never will be.

  46. Exactly. Simping to them doesnt' work. Ignoring them also doesn't work. Harper's approach worked - hard nosed and what the hell... invite the dalia lama over once in a while just to say "eff you and your one china policy", Do business but always let them know you're prepared to not do business. It works better than getting called little potato.
