  1. https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/cbc-government-funded-media-twitter-1.6812591 they are not happy about this. Frankly - i don't see why it's that big a deal, they are gov't funded with 3/4 of their money coming from the gov't, it doesn't say gov't controlled or the like, and it's entirely true. And it is worth noting that they do have a financial tether to the gov't, and whether the gov't has pull or not with them that relationship may very well colour their stories. Especially when one of the gov't contenders is running no de funding them.

  2. It's not a minority tho - it's a pimp majority The ndp sold their independence to the libs and now it's more like a 'minority wif bitcches" where it's not a minority at all. That certainly will be the lib angle to draw them.. Amazingly - right now the ndp is bleeding to the cpc. But the libs will pull their often used and often successful ploy of "please ndp, you must join forces and vote with us to stop the terror of the evil conservative nazi's!!!!!!" And that may work. Traditionally when we see these deals the jr partner in the deal suffers greatly next election. However - sometimes when that happens it pushes the blue liberals into the camp of the tories. And there's strong indications that may happen here. People are worried about the deficit, they're worried about inflation and interest rates, they're worried about ever buying a home Those are all CPC bread and butter issues and also ones that trudeau has a bad track record for. Generally politicians are great campaigners OR they are great leaders. Rarely do they excel at both. Harper for example was a terrible campaigner. Obama - gerat campaigner but very mediocre leader. I think PP is going to be one of those very very very rare ones where he does well at both. I think he's going to run a very solid campaign and really wow people and probably take a majority, and i think he'll do better than most as a leader. (tho trudeau is setting that bar pretty low).

  5. Socially, swastikas are not acceptable - even if the concept of free speech allows it. Trans people are acceptable socially - in theory. But, per the objections of a vocal minority, not in reality. I disagree - I don't see anyone non-partisan who cares, beyond chuckling about it. And, as already noted in this thread, it is already rebounding. Yesterday, stock prices rose by 34%. So, cancel culture. Be proud, conservatives, if you succeed, but don't accuse liberals of being the only ones engaging in cancel culture with these kinds of cancelling attempts on your resume. The fact remains that those who object to Budweiser's actions do so because they disapprove of trans people. Imagine if they tried the same thing if a Black person was featured - you do know what that would be; how can you claim this is any different? The objectors are the people creating and maintaining this culture war; they're the ones creating the news stories and headlines. It's certainly not those who accept trans people. Disagreeing with you does not mean I'm lying to myself; I thought you were better than that.

  6. Can you imagine being such a deeply insecure loser that a company adding one trans influencer (out of dozens if not hundreds) to their roster, that it would deeply affect your brand affinity? Most people's identities and affections just aren't that fragile. Nah, this is just loud noise from the culture warriors. And if the conservative America is really this fragile I'm going to start a fund to have Mulvaney endorse AR-15s.

  7. Besides the damage this Liberal government has inflicted on Canada . . . eg. massive debt, lost investor confidence, over-reach into many personal/private initiatives, ratcheting-up tax increases with nothing to show for it, soft on crime, etc., etc. . . . It has done damage to the inherent enthusiasm the Canadian citizens have to make this country work as a country. We are divided as never before, all on the whims of a fool.

  8. What sucks is YOU cannot corroborate YOUR OPINION with EVIDENCE. ANYONE can CLAIM their OPINION is FACT, but that does not make it true. It means you're COMPLETELY IGNORANT about DEBATE RULES.

  14. Honestly i'm not sure he will lose. I wouldn't bet too much against taht guy. Biden isn't inspiring people to get out there and vote that's for sure. The best thing for the GOP is for trump to lose the nomination to a strong candidate who then wins two terms. But - that's not looking like it's in the cards. The second best thing is for him to run and win. Do his four years, and then be out of the game permanently for life. If he doesn't he'll keep trying and this never goes away. So i think if he takes the nomination the GOP will pull out all stops, and lets face it - biden isn't going to be able to win by hiding in his basement again this time. He'll have to come out and defend his record. Which means he'll have to stay awake in front of the camera. Frankly it doesn't look great for the us either way right now. Trump did decently as far as results but his rhetoric is unsuitable for a president and the drama took away from his good works on things like the employment front. And his rhetoric is getting worse not better. Biden is a train wreck. So either way id' say the us is minimum 4 years out from good governance. At least. We'll see who runs next.

  15. Because it isn't. Read up on what SOP is in these cases. They currently feel the best way to treat it is to lean into the mental health issue and "affirm' thier gender of choice hoping that will reduce their tensions and allow them to lead a semi normal life. But there's not a lot of evidence that says they will.
    1 point
  16. It's well past that. Oh you mean illegally terminate people for their beliefs without sufficient proof that they engaged in partisan activities permanently. There is ZERO chance of getting away with that and any gov't who tried would find they'd go into the next election with the expensive lawsuits ongoing and be running as the 'mean to the beloved cbc' party. You realize toronto largely elects who's gov't. Telling them they can't apply isn't going to go over well. More lawsuits and wrongful dismissals and the people get their jobs back Dude.... no. Just no. This is not how it works in Canada. You can't just 'fire' everyone. So here's the thing. The cbc actaully iS able to distance itself from the govt' That's WHY they can favour the libs. So NONE of what you've suggested is possible. THe gov't doesnt' get to hire or fire anyone at the CBC And even if it did - the libs would just fire the people and hire back the ones they liked next time they got in. It is beyond saving. All you can do is defund it and let it burn itself to the ground.

  17. Well the problem is that the majority of people are not as accepting as you would think, for many reasons the LGBT community is one of the largest lobby groups here in Canada and the US, and they continue pushing their agenda, over and over again, in our schools, libraries, all levels of government, in our home life, in our language, our culture... Most people are for equal rights but like everything their is a line in the sand and we have crossed it long ago...to much of one thing is the line... Canadians are getting saturated with this lobbing, while just as important groups or stories go unheard or glossed over... this is the creation of the new woke culture that has taken hold in our country, invented by the minority and taken up by older left generations that feel guilty of things done in the past.. and some how want to make amends. to the point it consumes their every breath, and all their energy... Putting pressure on manufactures has been ongoing for decades, it is how the free market works. the beer market is speaking they don't want their beer manufacturer using trans person to sell their beer...WHY ?.... and the result is a 6 bil loss ... we will see if they continue to uphold their social values and stick with the plan, or instead follow the old mighty dollar, and their old consumer base... my bet is they will follow the dollar eventual they are after all in business to make money not to make a stand on social values...

  19. I disagree. All it takes is a hard-nosed attitude. Fire the more openly biased 'faces', and impose a sense of non-partisanship on the news and political affairs department, or whatever they're calling it. Then hire some creative talent that doesn't live in Toronto. Maybe even consider what the people outside Toronto might like to see in the form of entertainment. Fire anyone who objects to this. Fire anyone who stands in the way. Whether they're bureaucrats, producers or 'talent. Cut back on the number of bureaucrats. Way back. And prioritize local news. I can assure you that CTV sucks at that (and at national news for that matter). In fact, most of Canada's media suck at news. I include Postmedia in that. Their papers are a shadow of what they once were due to cost cutting. Global does a good job of covering local news. Way better than the CBC or CTV. See what they do and imitate it.

  20. They should never have sued the tories. And if they were going to do so during an election they shouldn't have put their newsreaders/moderators names on the suit. The Conservative outrage was magnified when she was selected as one of the moderators for the election debate.

  23. that's probably not without merit. Well it probably would. The english version anyway. They get 70 percent from gov't and 30 percent from ad sales - but the ad sales are only so high because they bought the viewership with the 70. So once that's gone and they can't afford the shows, the ad revenues dry up too and you're left with practically nothing. They would have to compete just like any other station and even the established ones are fighting for money these days. The good news is the death of the cbc would probably help the other news media - suddenly about 500 million dollars or more in advertising money would be freed up and looking for a place to call home.

  24. Heh Well in fairness for elected pm's canada has a long standing tradition of giving them 2 full terms worth of time, and that's about 8-10 years. Which is right where justin will be at the next election. He MIGHT win again - it's possilbe - but its pretty unlikely. The real question is will it be a majority or a minority.

  26. Honestly - i don't think it is. If that were the case it would be simple - change gov'ts. I think they ARE independent but they have DECIDED that the prefer one gov't over others and they collude to benefit that gov't at every turn. And that's a bigger problem, because there's no fixing that. They are WILLFULLY partisan - the only thing you can do at that point is burn it down.

  27. I'm not betting against him, at least not with real money the CBC & Co are just going to run on : "PP is Trump !!!" Canadian Trump Derangement Syndrome will then do the rest Trudeau could easily surpass his father as the longest serving tyrant, er I mean Prime Minister I remember when Joe Clark beat PET over "wage & price controls" then six months later Joe Clark was going to adopt "wage & price controls' then all of a sudden Joe Clark was "The Turkey" and PET was back "well welcome to the 1980's" ~ PET the Trudeau's are Teflon in Canada, they are the Canadian royal family https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2677422713

  30. That's why we are paying incredible amounts of money for a public health care system. It is inefficient and failing badly in many ways. A bureaucracy that is there to protect the skin of the people running it first, the public last. Then the powerful unions that put themselves first and are untouchables because they are backed by politicians who are out of control. Unions and politicians that scratch each other's backs.

  32. You can't really compare someone who gets 5 percent of their revenues to someone who gets 70 percent. Personally - i think the 'state funded' nametag should be reserved for those cases where removal of that funding would require the station to shut down a substantal part of it's services. If PBS for example lost 5 percent of it's revenues it would have to do some belt tightening and maybe make it up with more donations elsewhere, But they'd survive just fine. If cbc lost 70 percent of it's revenue it's done - close up the shop and turn out the lights, except for perhaps a few podcasts or radio.

  33. indeed King George I was a German, House of Hanover which is from Hanover in Germany George I came from Germany to claim the throne as heir followed by George II George III William IV Victoria then Victoria marries another German, Prince Albert of Belgium so the Royal Family became Prince Albert's German family : Saxe, Coburg, Gotha but it was actually during the First World War when King George V changed the name of the family to Windsor that was on 17 July 1917 he didn't change the name to hide the German ancestry it was to appease British nationalism and it workd because he then went on to be one of the most popular Kings of them all he was called "the People's King" George V invented the monarchy as we now know it, Elizabeth II then adopted all his ways

  34. Let me respectfully disagree. trans·pho·bic /ˌtranzˈfōbik/ adjective A bigoted, inferior, uneducated, pathetic loser who can only feel better by hating someone. Wants to bring back segregation but can’t. Wants to legally discriminate against Jews but can’t. Wants to get away with beating up gay people but can’t. Wants to outlaw gay marriage but can’t. Supports laws to ban any kind of transsexual behavior because, maybe, he can.

  40. Very true. I'm more loving and merciful to my children than God is to his. I'm not as petty, becoming incensed enough to slaughter them and their friends because they disobeyed me. I don't tell my children they deserve nothing, merely because I brought them into the world. I became a non-believer because I couldn't wrap my head around a "loving" God who could be as cruel as he's described as being in the bible.

  41. Like when I posted about how restrictions and mandates affected children, linked to articles from child psychologists and then you posted that I was an ID-iot and that lockdowns, school closures and bankrupting parents were going to have NO effect whatsoever on children? Like when you posted that anyone claiming to be injured or had a loved one die from the jabs - they were all liars, fakers and attention-seekers and then you mocked the father who lost his 17 year old son 2 weeks after the jab? And now teenagers and young adults are keeling over from heart attacks and strokes and I just posted a paper that addressed the issue. Like when I posted all the studies about myocarditis and then you posted that myocarditis was caused by covid and had absolutely nothing to do with the vaccines and then a few months later the CDC finally admitted that OOOPS! the vaccines DO cause myocardtis after all. Like when you accused anyone who thought ivermectin was beneficial of taking horse de-wormer. Like how you said the jabs were a miracle cure and were going to end the pandemic and now excess deaths are up 20% in every country and more people are dying from covid now than were dying BEFORE the jabs. Like when you advocated for perfectly healthy people to be ostracized from society so you would be "safer", even though you're what 4 or 5? jabs in and still not safe? Like how you ignore every study and dataset here and still think the CBC is the best place to get medical information from. I could go on since you've been wrong about literally everything. You sure love the misinformation and lies. I'm sure you will be here for the next month, cheering on more of the drunken misinformation and propaganda we've had crammed down our throats for over 3 years. But I'M the "conspiracy theorist. 43. Unfortunately no. He has decided to take over my thread for the next month and post articles that he has quickly googled and done zero research on, stating he does not care if they are current or correct. I haven't clicked on all his links, but the smattering of them that I have clicked on, are both far out of date and do not address any of the points I've made here. In fact, he has stated that he refuses to read any of the studies or datasets I've posted on this thread and will instead post his un-researched crap for the next month. I suspect this has more to do with the fact that he is a drunk, than anything else.

This is the biggest lie you'll find on the left , and of course they HAVE to say that to try to keep the idea of communism and socialism from looking completely morally and practically bereft of value. Of course it's been tried. It always fails. All the varians of it fail. Once you try to expand the idea beyond a family sized unit it collapses. Socialism and communism simply don't work because they ignore human nature and pretend that humans will happily live against their nature. But they won't ,not for long.
