  1. This article describes six ways leftism acts like a religion. "Conservative commentators have been mocked for years for describing leftism as a new religion of sorts. Since 2016, it has become clear that the modern left was determined to prove us right. What we have witnessed unfold in this country over the last few years, and have seen increase exponentially as the 2020 election comes near, especially with regard to the Black Lives Matter movement, is an expression of religious zealotry so widespread, unforgiving, and violent that it might have made the Puritan governors of 17th-century Massachusetts worry they were being outdone. Leftism is not a political ideology anymore. It is a full-fledged religion complete with tithing, penance, forced confessions, iconoclasm, internet inquisitions, public rituals, excommunication, heavily policed virtues, sacred texts, seminaries, and online auto-de-fes. The proof is too plentiful to ignore.

Here are the signs that we’re truly confronting a theocracy of totalitarian religious extremists. 1. Conformity, Strictly Enforced Virtues, and Excommunication Throughout history, religious nonconformists and dissenters of theocracies like the one we’re now confronting have been denied political and civil rights. Those who fail to express their undying loyalty to the Church of Leftism and participate in its public rituals are marked as heathens and “canceled” faster than you can say “due process.” Those who dissent publicly from their established doctrine are routinely censored, humiliated, shunned from certain schools or organizations, and even deprived of their livelihoods. In this religious system, heretics and apostates are ruthlessly suppressed and denied the full benefits of participation in the body politic. Even if you’re silent, the media choir will call it violence and demand you be shamed and unfollowed. If that’s not enough puritan madness, the choir will also instruct you on how to be sufficiently woke. The New York Times recently ran a piece suggesting you must demand your family and friends donate to left-wing causes or threaten them with excommunication. Other ways leftism demonstrates it is a religion: 2. Inquisition To ensure the aforementioned conformity, the Church of Leftism has established a Tribunal of the Woke Office of the Inquisition. They police speech; launch vicious pressure campaigns against celebrities, schools, and corporations; and work to ruin the lives of those who dare dissent from established orthodoxy. Even those who commit only the most venial of sins face the wrath of the woke. 3. Sins Speaking of sins, the Church of Leftism has a lot of them. Groupthink is required, or else dissidents will be smeared with an -ism, -ist, or -phobia. Once the church attaches those labels to you, you might lose your job and get a public shaming. Homophobe, racist, bigot, xenophobe — these accusations used to carry meaning, but the left has misused and misapplied them for so long, they have lost almost all weight outside the pseudo religion. 4. Penance If you do find that you’ve committed a sin after the woke inquisitors have their way with you, you shall be forced to commit a humiliating public act of penance. Grown men have been forced to beg on their knees or prostrate themselves. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey did it willingly only to find that no amount of groveling or virtue signaling could ever satiate the most extreme members of the church. 5. Public Ritual Some leftist church members are perfectly happy to humiliate themselves without coercion. Its political priestly class, for example, is incredibly fond of gaudy vestments, their favorite fabric choices being white and Kente. Lay members choose more lively rituals or synchronized chants. They even have holy wars. Look no further than the riots waged in large part by the far left and remember the phrase they’ve been using during the riots: “By all means necessary.” In their jihad, the only possible redemption for infidels like you or me is to come on bended knee, groveling and ready to convert wholesale to their liturgy of insanity. Even that might not be enough to save you. .6. Evangelization The missionary zeal of the Church of Leftism is enough to make the Latter Day Saints envious. Its evangelists are everywhere, their efforts permeating all aspects of life: television shows, websites, social media, consumer bank landing pages, corporate advertising. Barely a single product, app, or promotion these days comes without a free leftist sermon. For more on this and the whole article go to: 6 Ways Leftism Acts Like A Religion (thefederalist.com) Of course we see real life examples of the evangelization of the Leftist Religion on CBC, CTV, and even commercials.

  3. What's authoritarian about conservatives? Was it conservatives that helped create the vaccine, or was it conservatives that forced everyone to take it? Was it conservatives in Canada who froze people's bank accounts for donating small sums of money to a peaceful protest? Was it conservatives who called leftists the basket of deplorables, or called people who didn't vax racists and misogynists? Or asked people if the unvaxed should be 'tolerated'? What has any conservative in Canada or the US done that's even remotely as fascist as your burners and looters did in Ferguson, Minnesota, etc? Listen up dumbass, you support widespread violence and destruction for dumb criminals like M Brown. What makes you think that you're in any position to call someone else a fascist? You may not have thrown the molotov cocktails or shot the fireworks at the police yourself, but by flying the Antifa banner you're supporting/sanctioning those actions. When people over here found out that islamic state was beheading journalists and committing genocide, so they went over there to do the social media posts for them, do you think they weren't really part of all the bad stuff? Were they good people in a group that had a 'fringe' element? Because they're you. FYI Hitler's brownshirts did the exact same thing that you do. They used violence to suppress reason and reality, and to support the disinformation and false narratives of the Nazis. You use violence to support the disinformation and false narratives of the Dems. And if you don't think that whole M Brown thing was a false narrative by now then you're a compete dolt and it's no wonder that someone conned you into being a terrorist. The Jussie Smollett scam was the exact same thing. Leftists supported that even when it was completely ridiculous on its face. Then when it was over, they pretended that he was just doing it for attention, they ignored the fact that what he did was a fake hate crime against himself which he blamed on an entire group of people. Like any good leftard, the only defence of your actions that you can provide is baseless insults against the bogeyman.

  4. Sadly true. And worse, each time it's abused it makes it easier to take the abuse an inch further. They'll take this example and stretch it just a bit the next time, and then do the same the next time. Fortunately SOME people on the left, in this case the civil liberties groups, have figured it out and we'll see if they can have some success in court. I hope so - this is not a good thing.

  5. I think it’s more important to call out “your own” when they have bad ideas than those on the opposite side of the political spectrum. Why wouldn’t you debate other conservatives when their ideas are bad?

  8. And what? Left without interference governmental and societal interference to degrade it more natural aggressiveness of males will cause them to dominate most industries and businesses, make more money, and control politics. Women have to be 'encouraged' to enter certain professions, given special help, have quotas provided for them, etc. There are women in professions like the military, policing, fire, EMTs, etc. because of quotas, not because they're as good as men. Very few are. Fifty percent of the Liberal cabinet are women because Trudeau made a quota, not because they care about merit. The government browbeats businesses to put more women in the boardrooms and pressures universities through grants to push forward more women in STEM fields even though women don't want to go into those fields to nearly the extent men do.

  10. Oh BS. If that were true, my birth certificate would not say "Gender Male". Why can't you just make up a new word instead of warping the words we already have...and have understood forever?

  11. No - but as we've all seen reading and comprehension isn't your strong point, so nobody blames you for getting it wrong. It's kind of expected at this point.

  13. Sure. I’m not against a man calling himself a woman or whatever. Live and let live. I don’t care. But we have Men’s and Women’s sports for a reason: In nearly all categories, women cannot evenly compete against men. Therefore, if a man changes his gender to female, she should not be able to compete in organized competitive sporting activities in the woman’s category. I think it is absolutely unfair competition.

  15. 1) You completely ignore almost all of the content in every post and just fire back with snotty insults. 2) You still haven't said how it's possible that we "vaccinated" 85% of the country and ended up with 25% more covid deaths than ever before 3) Your comment: was just a faceplant. You are truly a stupid man. I said that with a gif instead of just using more words that you wouldn't understand.

  16. He debates like a no-life internet warrior, spamming 30+ posts a day and just generally shitting everywhere. What you call "never backing down" is actually just belligerent ignorance, and you don't have to follow his debates very far to see someone unravel his clueless natter to trip him into his error state, where he defaults back to strawman and some permutation of "Awww muffin, soRrY KiDdO, SwinG and a MISs, yoU aRe toO Stoopid". Neither term actually means anything here anymore, they way everyone throws them around here. It's just more worthless hyperbole, just like "radical left wing".

  17. I am a firm believer in promoting our history and preserving it. But this has just been left far too long. To be considered to be a serious player on the world stage you need a formal gov't residence. Its a place where emissaries from around the world can be received and entertained, it's integral to the management of the people's business. It costs what it costs. We do trillions of dollars in trade with other countries, paying 40 mill for a place to host people is peanuts. But the original is just too far gone. As much as i hate to say it - scrap it, build something really nice and properly built for the future now and then MAINTAIN it. You can make it look similar to the old one if you like, whatever but for god's sake, surely our national pride and the image we present to the world is worth a few lousy million dollars.

  18. I edited my response to you btw - you were just too quick on the draw for me today But yes - aside from global warming there are all kinds of problems with pollution in general that affect our lives. Eventually we have to do away wiht emissions producing tech.

  19. While the current building is old, apparently it is not architecturally significant. Its was built by an American lumber baron and is kind of an odd duck that is not very exemplary of any architectural styles or periods. Some even call it ugly IIRC, PMs have only been living there since the 1950s

  20. Germany is gonna be the Right's favourite country going forward. They seem to be the only one NOT moving towards greener tech. I guess because they put all their eggs in LNG from Russia. SEE! SEE! Looks what Germany is doing!!!

  21. Tear it down and rebuild it in the same style. It's a national embarrassment that it's fallen apart so bad, more so that the official PMs residence got this way over cheap beancounter politics. Imagine rats in the walls of #10 Downing or the White House!

  22. The historical value of the building is the issue. As it is the same age as Confederation, built between 1866 and 1868. I would say it is considerable. How much do you value your history?

  23. They are hoping, I think, that people will rally around them and it will prove out that they're in a majority of people who can dismiss these changes. Hoping or expecting. They might expect conflict, but the true sign that they're actually in the dismissed minority will be ... general silence and disdain.

  24. 24 Sussex, dilapidated MP offices, the RCAF’s VIP fleet of CC-150 Polaris and CC-144 Challenger aircraft… it’s ridiculous how the routine upkeep of these things get politicized. The property management of residences of the PM, GG and Opposition Leader should be placed under an arm’s length agency so that their proper upkeep and maintenance isn’t politicized to the point that they fall into disgraceful disrepair

  26. The vaccine was indeed legally enforced in Canada, For many if you didn't take it you faced punishment of losing your job, your right to travel, your right to gather for religious purposes, etc etc. Even the gov't doesn't deny it - they and others claim that it was NECESSARY to enforce it on Canadians. And you can make that case but you can't claim it wasn't enforced.

  27. Thanks for the very thoughtful post. To be clear, I definitely did not intend for my short post to tackle the larger conversation about trans rights, etc., but rather to simply challenge the specific thought that gender has the same meaning as sex and has been immutable and binary up until this point of radical departure. Gender and biological sex have a long history of being distinct from one another within human conception and communication. Yes, there was a period of time when those words were largely interchangeable in the English speaking world, but that's a pretty narrow aperture. We didn't have a need to distinguish the social from the biological so we were casually lazy. But the need for precision is growing and the words are drifting apart again. The whole thing is a little like watching an astronomical transit.

  28. You do realize this is all dependent on dominant forms of media? Without anonymous posts, and anonymous content ... Nobody wants to make public claims that are extreme. People have even posted here that such ideas are not tolerated by the MSM media so it shouldn't be controversial.

  30. Passionate conservative? ? Don't make me laugh. The term fascist is meaningless on this forum. Arrogant and belligerence stupidity isn't something that you can rationalize as "combating populism". If you've been watching the conversations, you should recognize some familiar patterns. Who else do we know here who can't help but argue strawman and gets upset and complains about lying when someone quotes him embarrassing himself? ? Whatever points he earns by not being the typical conspiracy clown he loses by being a no-life forum warrior, engaging battlemode at the slightest disagreement and picking fights in nearly every thread he's joined.

  31. Gender has been understood as a social construct rather than a biological observation since before you were born. Think about cultures with gendered language, in which words are assigned a gender (masculine, feminine or neuter) based on how those words relate to social expectations. As societies drift and shift so do the words and the ways they are employed.

  32. Antifa is attempting to NORMALIZE fascism. Not fight it. They use violence, intimidation, bullying and fear to try to force people to do what they want and agree with their agenda. They are extremely nationalist, believing that their vision for the nation is the ONLY one that should be allowed to exist. They are horrible people and the people of the us and canada have become fed up with their hatred and violence. That's why the feds classified their activites as 'domestic terrorist violence'.

  33. What would a terrorist know about reality and lies? Did you really need to burn down buildings and loot businesses because M Brown was shot? Was his death really worth billions of dollars in damage? All those assaulted police? All of those assassinated officers? Admitting to being a member of Antifa is no better than admitting to being a Nazi. You're a loser who's being led around by the nose by other losers.

  36. Exactly. The Emergencies Act was an excuse for ineptitude, but what’s frightening is that incompetence is now grounds for use of the Emergencies Act. The public must hold governments in account to prevent ineptitude from reigning as a tyranny. Have we entered a period of inept tyrants?

  39. The wealth income gap is a meanless measure tho. Lets say you earn 40 grand a year, and some ohter guy earns 100. The economy improves and suddenly you're earning 50 and he's earning 140. How have you suffered? How would you be better off if he went DOWN to 60? How would that make your life better? For the wealth income gap to matter you would have to show how that person's increase somehow directly hurts you. Otherwise it's just a case of unjustified envy. As to co2 - i don't think the boomers are using any MORE co2 right now than the millenials so what's the issue there? If future generations have something to complain about you'd have to make that case a lot better than that.

  40. There's been nothing intellectual OR honest about your replies. You twist what i and others say entirely out of shape. Presumably because you know you're wrong so you HAVE to change what was said to something you think you can win. Pathetic. And childish. Acting surprised that people are not taking you seriously or are treating you like you were 7 years old should come as no surprise. Frankly - it's giving you more intellectual credit than you deserve. Grow up, and people might start treating you as if you had something valueable to say. Right now it's just like watching a puppy chase it's tail - amusing in it's own way but nobody is impressed by the puppy's "intellect".

  42. Doctors are not gods. Doctors orchestrated the holocaust. Doctors are not immune to government propaganda. When the German government wanted to exterminate Jews, it was doctors who suggested using the gas chambers they had invented to get rid of the disabled. 50% of doctors graduated in the BOTTOM half of their class.

  44. I think today's younger generations are justified. Our boomer generation should definitely be faulted for having only complained. That's not to say some didn't try to turn things around but given the respectability that dictatorships enjoy, the fact CO2 emissions are still increasing and wealth and income gaps keep get wider with each passing year...future generations will probably have a lot more to complain about.

  45. There is certainly a noticeable similarity. The part that is concerning is the blind adherence to the dogma without regard for fact or reason. The 'faith" is all, questioning the faith is punishable. While that might be one thing for an actual religion, it's very bad for a political movement. there's a reason histories don't smile on theocracies and why most civilized countries recognize the need to have seperations between church and state. I would tend to classify the left these days as more of a cult than a religion, but there can be no doubt that its nearly the same thing,

  48. I think that buying a place is a lifestyle not suited for everyone. Many would rather spend their money on vacations and "things". While it seems that homeownership is the perceived goal of everyone, it is false. It is, lately, a Canadian notion. Home ownership is not a right, it is a choice. Most people in most major cities throughout the world rent or lease. Rent and go on annual or semi annual or more often vacations. Have a new car every other year, buy designer clothes or...... buy a house, maintain a house, pay taxes, paint, fix, improve, landscape, pool and on and on and on but, they are now house poor and the "lifestyle" they want is no longer there. So, there is the choice.
