  1. I wish the Canadian Parliament was in Alberta. Canada is currently run by Laurention elites who are generally Marxist-nihilists who nevertheless overlook Québécois ethno-nationalism because it reminds them of their childhoods under the language fascists in Quebec. They’re a strange political class. If it wasn’t for Republican American influence, the exceptionalism of Great Britain, and some pushback from Alberta, these Liberal elites would’ve turned Canada over to the UN and China years ago. The painting of Canada as colonial and white supremacist is a concoction of the Liberal-NDP entrenched de facto one party system in Canada.

  4. I certainly enjoyed All Hallows Eve as a boy the streets of Toronto teeming with kids, we spilled out into the neighbourhoods and took control of the streets for one night a year, we could run amok and get up to all sorts of mischief we'd meet in the parks, mingling together, all ages, no adults in charge nor even around my costume was always a Ring Wraith from Tolkien the Witch King of Angmar, Lord of the Nazgul I even had a real sword, a ceremonial long sword from my father's collection of trophies when any of the older kids tried to bully me, I brandished it without hesitation

  9. I put up with this because I'm convinced so many left wingers here are teenagers who have never experienced anything other than THE VIEW and MSNBC. It seems like few people here even understand liberals and conservatives. Terms like Conservative and LIberal have evolved over at least a 90 year period of time. The original LIBERAL ideology was one of laiseez-faire free market capitalism, with very limited government. The great economists of our time (Ludwig Von Mises, Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek, etc) referred to themselves as liberals. An original libertarian by the name of Ayn Rand was very critical of conservatism, believing the ideology was very stubborn, very backward looking and never wanting to make any changes. That was about right. In the early Sixties (and my source for a lot of this was Slouching Towards Gommorrah, by Judge Robert Bork), an incident happened that completely flipped the liberal script. It was called the Port Huron Statement. It created the legions of radical left wingers (Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Bobby Seale, et al) Over the years since that incident liberalism has moved further and further to the planks of the Communist Manifest. (Liberals, give it a read. You'll like it. Only sixty pages and there's a lot there you'll agree with.) Modern day conservatism came by way of William F. Buckley, (arguably the most intelligent man of the Twentieth Century) He pioneered this merger of liberty, free market capitalism and the rule of law. It was Ronald Reagan (one of the greatest presidents in history) who became almost the figurehead for modern conservatism, as he utilized the ideas of some of the most brilliant economists of their day to craft an economic plan that would raise the American economy from the misery index he inherited from Jimmy Carter, and produce the best and fastest growing economy of the 20th Century. By the late 80s, some journalist figures took great risks to their careers by embracing conservatism, including Rush Limbaugh, who became a multi millionaire with a simple AM radio talk show that reached more markets than any other. Close to the turn of the century, liberalism was REALLY going off the rails in the realm of the ridiculous. Two terms of Barak Obama (who had about as much business in the Oval Office as a hospital janitor would have performing open heart surgery) pushed the most extremist, socialist left wing agenda of all time. Backlash to that extremism led to the landslide electoral victory of Donald Trump, someone conservatives were afraid might be too liberal for that office. They were wrong. Trump's brilliant ideology, business sense and leadership gave America the greatest economy of all, secure shores, domestic energy independence and PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. How did liberals respond? Riots in major cities. Calls to defund the police. Calls for gender reassignment surgery in children. Open borders. Thus we have the evolution of liberalism and conservatism. Right now, most of America is mainstream conservative, not necessarily because most people have done the research I've done, but because, according to brilliant journalist/pundit Ben Shapiro "Democrats have lost their f..ing minds." If you'd like to go down the list of issues that define conservatism versus far left woke-ism, that's what I'm here for.

Rounding up homosexuals and mass murdering them is right out of the Third Reich. You also said that gender dysphoria is a disorder. In that case, you agree that it is a medical condition. Under Federal law, places of employment and public accommodation must make accommodations to meet their needs. So, no more discussion is needed.

  21. The Soviet Union also had a great sounding constitution. We don't have leaders for life, our constitution says an election has to be held every five years. They don't have mandatory commissions to review things like the use of the EMA. How do you think a PM would impose the tyranny you are crying wolf about. Do you seriously think the armed forces or various police forces would have any part of it? Constitutional monarchies have the most stable governments on the planet. Instead of continually whining, be thankful you live in one.

  26. There's a lot of that going around. For example, the big 'defund police' thing was done to allegedly protect minorities (really black) citizens in the US inner cities. Only... nobody asked them what they wanted. What they damn sure did NOT want was less police. The people behind that campaign were mostly liberal white university educated people living in nice neighborhoods along with a smattering of their black activist colleagues. Naturally, Canada's progressive adopted this wholesale despite the wildly different circumstances here. And no, none of them bothered to ask actual people about their preferences either. If Canada's massive wave of foreigners are to in any way integrate into the Canadian mainstream there has to BE some kind of mainstream. Eliminating our traditions in case they might offend newcomers is counter-productive and stupid. And I guarantee you this district school board consulted zero ethnic groups before deciding to eliminate Halloween for their students.

  27. The problem is that people don't pay very much attention during municipal elections to begin with. And school board elections are kind of throw-ins which get even less attention. You have to really go out of your way to find out anything at all about the candidates. To compound the problem the NDP use school boards as kind of junior training grounds for inexperienced NDP politicians, and provide them help to get elected. So school boards tend to be disproportionately populated by left wing types. We need some kind of organization or media to give us information on the candidates in our wards so people know who to vote for. And who not to.

  29. Every kid I knew growing up in Canada celebrated Halloween as a cultural holiday, so yes its a pat of Canadian culture. It's a western tradition. If you're from a country that doesn't celebrate Halloween your child can either assimilate or not participate or you could choose not to move to Canada, but in no way should Canadians stop celebrating its traditions in order to accommodate a small minority that isn't really even asking to be accommodated. I certainly would never ask or expect ie: India to stop celebrating Indian traditions just because my western family moved to India. If I didn't want to live in India I wouldn't have moved there. SJW's who are too weak to make these kinds of decisions shouldn't be an admin in a school board. This is yet another example of self-inflicted cultural genocide.

  30. Giving people stuff on the basis of group identity is ridiculous. Providing assistance to individuals who are disadvantaged and have the evidence to support the claim is reasonable. Should the rich black guy who owns a business around the corner from me get “money for black business owners”? C’mon. He’s a great guy, but he doesn’t need handouts.

  34. Judging from what I have read about 9/11, it was supposedly a planned conspiracy event brought on by your globalist buddies. I read that the owner of the twin towers was a guy by the name of Silverstein, and Silverstein apparently, has his breakfast pretty much every morning in one of his restaurants on top of one of the towers. But for some reason he was not at his restaurant that morning because he supposedly had a dentist appointment the day of 9/11. Coincidence or planned? ?

  38. Not talking about everyone having the same one. There's a huge grey area between where we are now, and a "socialist system". The assumption of an immediate default to that as soon as we change anything is silly. and that's really the point of these conversations. Can we make things better? It's not about taking things away from you.

Not to take sides here, but during the Cuban missile crises Canadian naval group did just that defied a direct order from the PM not to get involved, and they sailed down south and joined a US naval task force the rest is history. As for a coup it would have to be a very serious matter, like the government gone rogue or something, but I've seen it happen in many countries Canada is not immune to any of it.

  41. So I gather most posters know as little about how boards work as they do how politics works. Never been on one to see, never got involved, just 'heard' from someone as ill informed as themselves and as lacking in rational thought. A "Board" is a committee, the people elected to it are called Directors of the Board. Some School Boards refer to them as Trustees, the Chairperson might possibly be referred to as the Director. The person acting as such does not make the decisions, motions are made by the members, voted on by the board and approved if passed. So the headline should read "The School Board" not "The Director of the School Board". And I ask again WTF does the School Board have to do with parades unless it's one sponsored by schools or on school property? I ask again also - WTF does a Halloween parade remotely have to do with Canadian culture? I'm finding that knee jerk reaction to erroneous and inflammatory headlines by the same lot of deplorables that ignores every despicable and criminal act by anyone they consider 'on their side' is getting tiring. The dim milk like perceptions of reality seem to indicate cataracts of the brain is the latest pandemic.

  42. A good filter for finding the best and brightest is to find the people who claw their way up from nothing. Give them the chance and see if they sink or swim. If they sink, then then that's too bad, but the ambitious ones among them are often the most able and the most driven. too often they don't. Growing up in a rich town and in a rich neighborhood, most of the guys around here ended up working for their dads doing nothing remarkable and the girls finished school, married a dude who worked for his dad, and became highly-educated stay-at-home moms. When you have everything you need whether or not you apply yourself, it's too easy to be happy not applying yourself. That's not the end of the world, and I'm not saying we need to take that away from them, but as a society we are not handing the tools and opportunities that we could to the people who would make the best use of them. When people are not motivated to work hard, too many of them choose not to. While I agree that we don't want to go in debt subsidizing education for poor folk, that doesn't mean we can't more aggressively work to provide them with these opportunities. If you know anything about our tax system, you'd understand it's a joke and designed to fleece the upper-middle class and lower-end upper class, while making things easy for the richest of the rich. I always laugh when I hear people complain about poor people paying no taxes, when in fact it's our very top earners who are not paying their share.

  43. A choice? How is it a choice to be born in a trailer park and have to work way harder and claw your way up even to even the middle class, compared to the rich kid whose father paves his way paying for everything and connecting him to everyone he needs to know? That's not a choice. No, that's communism. The truer system would be one where the child is at least started off with the same opportunities in terms of education, health and post-curricular activities. We don't even offer that.

  45. People are too overwhelmed and brainwashed to push back. Canadian culture is being actively erased. It’s not valued or protected, just like our rights. I’m seriously thinking it may be better to leave Canada to the Marxist-nihilist woke-green activists. Post-national state is too entrenched. All the fake left-wing tyrants like Trudeau have to do is cry extremism and the CBC falls in line. Canada doesn’t stand much chance. Look how easily a time-honoured guy like Don Cherry was canceled to feed our ideologue media. Halloween is another nail in the coffin.

  46. Just because you don’t recognize that traditions and special cultural events matter to people doesn’t change the fact. Most kids and families enjoy Halloween: the costumes, trick or treating, associations with All Souls Day or the Mexican Day of the Dead. These North American cultural events matter to most Canadians, and banning the festivities just because some people don’t like or care about them, is pretty awful. You don’t seem to care about much.

  47. The Biden administration has been flying these illegal immigrants to cities for a long time now. Often in the dead of night. Biden administration resumes migrant flights to airport outside NYC (nypost.com) I agree with Betsy, the Democrats that crowed about being "sanctuary" cities should be thrilled that they now have to support this influx of people but they're not because they are hypocrites. Perhaps now they might understand how overburdened the border cities are right now because Biden's handlers refuse to secure the border.
