  1. You have it backwards Michael. Western society is not built on a "pluralistic confederation" specifically. Western society was built on Judeo-Christian civilization and culture. That is where democracy and human rights came from. We don't need this diversity-inclusion nonsense as if something new is being invented. Simple go back to basic Christian principles of love for thy neighbour and respect for individuals. Everyone should be treated the same, with respect. No need to single out one group for special treatment as they are doing now. Just teach respect and love for every individual.

  2. I don't understand how I need to fly a flag to state I won't discriminate. My workplace has a zero tolerance approach to bullying and discrimination. I don't understand how one must fly an LGBTQ flag to say this. Teach kids to respect each other. One doesn't need to be force fed sexuality and the like, to be a decent human.

  3. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/15/politics/read-durham-report/index.html Well we'll well...the FBI had no cause to investigate Trump and the Great Russia Collusion Hoax. And now...Wray thinks he can slime his way out of this by tossing Comey under the bus. What a pack of dirt bags the US FBI and CIA are. Not to mention Barry and Ol" Joe, who it now appears knew this was all horseshit to begin with. Libbies...this is your leadership. Your media...you Libbies can be held responsible for truly warping the law and destruction of democracy. Not "MAGA"...not Trump...not even Tucker Carlson. You are responsible for this filth. I hope you all choke on it.

  4. That's their problem, really. If you abstract the problem and take out the specifics of which moral code, which symbol, which group we're accommodating and which we're expecting to be inclusive then you would come up with something like a principle. Here's one try: Any public school necessarily holds community 'values' and those attending the school are expected to understand that these values are a foundation to what is being taught. So if you are a Christian who thinks Hallowe'en is evil - you might want to keep your kid home in October. IF you are a Muslim who opposes Music, you will have to fill out late slips every day so that you can drop your kid off after the National Anthem. If you hate a rainbow flag, then you may have to cover your kids' eyes as you march them into the school in the morning.

  5. Yep. IMO it's impossible to have a special "inclusivity day" for every group, and the feelings of LGBTQ students has already been elevated above the physical safety of girls in western society, which is crazy imo. I always thought that girls were the most protected group in our society, and for very good reason. I'm neutral towards individuals based on their sexuality but I hate the LGBTQ "leadership". Them allowing BLM and banning police at their Toronto parade was the last straw for me.

  6. How about instead of demanding special treatment or recognition or special days for one group, treat everyone the same... with respect. What you are essentially doing is giving special treatment and recognition to one particular group and saying everyone else get behind in the line. Isn't that discrimination? Dividing society into two groups Michael. This is no-brainer. Just stop this nonsense and teach students that everyone should be loved and treated with respect.

  7. The Durham report found no wrongdoing. Nobody was convicted of any crimes. He didn’t indict a single person. He didn’t get a single person fired. He didn’t even recommend a personnel letter for a single person.

  10. See what I mean ? Seems so reasonable until you parse out the things he says in his posts. "When I see people... call for death.." - what in blazes does that have to do with the Pride flag at a school. This is a fifth-level troll attempt. Or a great AI.

  11. Oh, noes. Your ignore list is broken again! Again, to the point, even Durham thinks the investigation was justified. And try as he might, the best he could manage was some finger wagging about process. And this is a "bombshell" for you folks. lol

  13. No, but they allow for speech and morals to be manipulated under guide of inclusion. No way a government would do that. Reward good behavior and punishment for what is deemed to veer from the acceptable, in terms of speech and behavior. That only happens in China. Right? Right? Brands like Disney push their agenda in the west, but you won't see any of it in countries where it will hurt their bottom line. I see it no differently than Nike pushing for gender nonconforming ads and speech and slamming those that don't comply, yet you won't even see an off color in their Qatar logos. Do you care about inclusion, or only when your bottom line benefits from it? Why is this? Same companies that have sweat shops and exploitative practices are pushing morals. Thats like a crackhead teaching you about abstinence or investment. Why is this? I just see the thought police. Control their mind, you control their bodies. Flags don't do a thing. When I see people push flags, but call for the death and doxxing for people they disagree with, it makes it that much harder to believe these people are genuinely seeking inclusion.

  14. I said conservative not Conservative Any sort of symbol or belief that evokes a conservative view or mindset or historical occasion. Do you think these schools would celebrate Sir John A MacDonald, for example? Would they fly the flag under which Canadians fought in the first and second world wars on remembrance day? Would they celebrate Canada's historical ties with the British or the Royal family? Would they tolerate and teach tolerance for conservative beliefs in either morality or traditions?

  15. You mean at home ? I don't know. I guess I would. Do you think it's ok to fly an NDP banner at school ? Seems like not the same thing.

  19. This is an odd approach. What you are saying is that there are two sides, and whichever side polls higher on a question is the side that 'owns' the issue. I guess that's practical but it means that liberal vs conservative vs social political philosophy means nothing. Strong support for law and order is a conservative value, even if you poll republicans and find they think the FBI is a secret liberal army. That's how I see it. As for this issue - LGBTQ+ freedom is a freedom issue. Pro-freedom people should favour tolerance. Conservatives should favour plurality as that is where we came from - it's a traditional Canadian value. As @August1991 famously said "We get along." Would you be surprised if prominent Conservative party members supported Trans rights ? Would that mean they're not conservative ? If I support Trans rights am I not conservative ? Doesn't that mean that any issue that is turned around and weaponized for political gain will force me to change my principles in order to be 'loyal' to my party ? That sounds like hypocrisy to me.

  22. 1. Ok... well maybe we should start with the Irish ? Sorry but these things come up in a certain way based on how the zeitgeist goes. 2. Tolerance for different religions, primarily. By extension this meant tolerance for different moral codes, including cultural differences. 3. Flying a flag isn't flaunting anything. It's saying, basically, we won't hate you if you are this way. Trying to puff it up into something beyond that begs the question: why ? Why do people want to make LGBTQ+ into something beyond tolerance and acceptance by using code words ?

  26. Not really accurate. When hitler came to power there was insane runaway inflation (the old stories about a wheelbarrow full of Deutschmarks for a loaf of bread), severe employment problems and other economic woes. It was the 'dirty thirties' and the whole world was in the great deperssion. Unemployment was rampant and things were bad. He stabilized their dollar, and did a fair bit to get their economy moving again. People could get work and incomes went up considerably as more work was available. He sold off some state assets. And the labourers were far from slaves. It was one of the reasons he was so popular. Militarization was without a doubt a big hunk of the eocnomy and after war broke out obviously that became a main economic factor. Having said that without a doubt the economic policy was highly questionable. He ran the gov't on deficit financing. He was extremely socialist -what we would call a democratic socialist today with strong central planning and control within a capitalist model. Like i said - if it wasn't for the war and genocide and such he probably would be hailed as a strong example of democratic socialism. It would have been very interesting to see what the economy looked like if he'd skipped all that and just focused on country building. I think it still would have gone sideways in the end but it would have been interesting to see. BTW - strong central involvement in industry (especially energy), massive deficit spending, lots of unnecessary spending on a separate objective (war/climate change) massive increase in the public service.... This guy remind you of anyone we know?

  30. Which is exactly what colonization is about - sovereignty is the mother of all land ownership issues. I know you understand this but I also recognize that you've given yourself no choice but to be all nope about it. BTW do you by any chance live in unceded territory? You should try living under a treaty someday. Reconciliation and treaty making is one of the biggest economic drivers in my region. You'd rather we use invader or thieves? I doubt that'll make you feel any better about it.

  31. It's correcting issues that persist to this day Most of BC is still unceded territory for which treaties still need to be negotiated. Reconciliation is also about correcting issues before they can even occur - after we're all dead.

  32. Colonialism is still well within people's living memory. I have friends my age who were raped in schools run by our governments. Reconciliation is just getting underway and will continue long past all of us here in this forum are dead. That's well under way in places. There used to be a time when other colonizers studied Canada's reserve system for lessons on how to colonize their indigenous people and now these indigenous people are studying Canada to figure out how to deal with their colonizers.

  33. Good question. AFAIC the short answer is that when the Liberals were elected they took over a system they could use as they see fit for their own purposes. Why is that? I mean, we certainly can't blame the voters for laying the foundations for the way we're being misgoverned.

  34. The SC decided that it was 'cruel and unusual punishment,' and thus a violation of the Charter to require homicide sentences be served consecutively without parole eligibility. As far as they're concerned, kill one person, kill fifty people, it makes no difference. The most you can give is life and they have to have parole eligibility in 25 years. This was a finding not justified in history, not justified by the definition of the term, and not justified as per the feelings of Canadians. Appoint the right nine judges and the supreme court will find for or against anything you can name.

  35. Its not what he said. It's what he did. His taxing fuel the way he does. The oilseeds. His plan for fuel or ICEs in our society. Of course EVs are the future, but punishing people who don't jump on board vs building that boarding area to begin with, is no different than saying someone deserves to be hosed at the pumps because of what they drive. His mentioning his incentives that outweigh this, is assuming Canadians are bad at math. Its availability and practicality. Great. That's the point I have been making. I care, I just don't care for politicians virtue signaling under guise of protecting the environment, when they travel everywhere in their private jets. Which type of pickup trucks sell most? EV or ICE? Buses? EV or ICE? SUV? No, the people who want a car that meets their every need. Understand your market. Key to business. Meaning, road trips are king in the US. Your vehicle as a result, should be able to drive relevant distances to the equivalent ICE. Even if you drive that 300kms twice a year. I didn't buy a car to have to use another one. Many who run businesses like me, could easily put 55k 70k KMs on their vehicles. There are no current market EVs that can do the job. Most businesses will buy these types of vehicles not for maximum efficiency, but rather image. The convenience of not having anxiety of finding a gas station is worth the tax. Again. Understand your market. Most people cannot afford a house. Many rent. Many don't have access to a plug, even less a garage. Live in inner city areas, then there is no way you're leaving that 500 to 1000$ factory plug outside. Get one put on your house? Well, again. Not everyone has that kind of money. I just like many, will buy an EV when it makes sense to us. Telling someone meat is murder, won't concert most. Most will eat more meat. Heck, I would slaughter a cow and eat it right away. Getting nagged about EVs makes me enjoy my ICE, tenfold.

  41. The righties are the ones trying to sell the left as “woke.” I get emails from Democrats all the time. They never call themselves woke. Joe Biden is leader of the Democratic Party right now. How many Presidential Pardons has he issued to cronies or Democratic politicians or rioters? ZERO. So yes, of course there are both conservative and liberal extremists. But the Democrats are not embracing the extremists by any means. We have different values, such as environmental protection and higher taxation of higher incomes, just as Republicans Eisenhower and Nixon also had. Today’s tax rates have created an ultra small class of ultra-ultra-rich the likes of which the world has never seen. Russia has their oligarchs and so does America. You talk about wealth redistribution but we have wealth redistribution to the ultra-rich. It doesn’t make our economy any stronger at all.

I live in the middle of nowhere and it took so long for them to figure out the wife had lung cancer, she died a week later. Then again if I lived in Butthole USA she'd have died anyway and I'd be bankrupt and homeless. SO take your pick. A lotta of griping going on these days, and a lot of stubborn asses that simply refuse to see Covid brought the problems to the forefront.
