  1. Playing accounting games to split it into 'operational' and 'capital investment' is as phony and deceptive as everything else he's saying and doing. As the parliamentary budget chief has recently testified, the things the Carney government is describing as 'capital investment' are NOT, in fact, capital investments. No other country defines the spending the Carney Liberals are making as capital investment. Even our provinces don't. Carney definition of 'capital' recognized by nobody else on earth: PBO | National Post archive version

  3. So the fact that a Republican Governor did not see a cause for an investigation means... What then? The FBI is now stacked with Trump loyalists, but there now we have finally arrived at objectivity right? I still have faith in the system, and I firmly believe nothing will come of this if a real judge gets to look at it.

  4. Congratulations. Now he can focus on the job to which he is most suited, Leader of the Loyal opposition. It is the best job in politics. He can say anything, propose any policy, without consequence. It is absolute freedom and he gets to live in a better residence. And you get to spend more time with your family. 😀 The worst role to have these days is Prime Minister, where your every utterance and action, no matter how noble, only alienates another group. No matter what party label, no matter how competant you are, from the moment you are appointed to the office, you begin the descent into unpopularity. Pierre, relish your position for as long as you can and be careful not to trigger an election. Have fun.

Someone posted their opinion and it tickled your confirmation bias so now you're here preaching like a nutjob on a street corner. You remind me of robo when he quotes Dr Bimbo. "Duuuuuh, look at her boobies 🤤. She must be a reel dokter!"

  12. This kind of supreme doublethink will be looked back at, and everybody will wonder where your kind disappeared to. The guy who phones the governor and asks to "find votes" is the democrat here, am I right ? Anyway, enjoy your time in the sun, because it's setting on you now... So ... you win then... great. Enjoy it. Maybe they'll declare Trump won in 2020 and then he'll be awarded a third term. Would you like that ?

  14. Really? You want to call Trump the threat to Democracy? Isn't it your side of the aisle that is protesting ICE? Why? What is ICE doing? They are enforcing the law as written. Those laws have been written and passed by multiple Congresses. They have had support by Republicans, Democrats and Independents. Those laws were signed by Presidents from both sides of the aisle and every damn one was dually elected. Those laws were then tested thousand upon thousands upon thousands of times in court, and every single time they stood. Those laws are good. They are just. Yet, your side of the aisle wishes to suspend those laws by using intimidation and force to prevent the government from executing the laws our REPUBLIC agreed upon. They are not engaged in democracy or anything similar. They are autocrat wannabes. They are bent on dominating our government through force. They have zero interest in a democratic process. When they take to the streets to riot, they are terrorists. When they burn cars they are terrorists. Whe they loot businesses, they are terrorists. When they burn down those businesses, they are terrorists. When they shot that ICE facilities in Texas, killing immigrants, they are terrorists. When they shot Charlie Kirk they are terrorists. And when they tried to assassinate Trump...TWICE...they are terrorists. So no, Trump checking unsigned tapes and investigating how this could happen is no attack on Democracy. This is the reinforcement and the return of democracy in the face of the terrorists that roam our streets today.

  15. I missed Mr. Poilievre's speech, but there were reports that he touched on defence. They ran a hypothetical war game a few years ago. The scenario was China preparing to invade Taiwan. The allies decided to put a naval fleet into the Taiwan Strait. The Chinese response was to sink one of the allied warships as a demonstration they were serious. The question the Chinese had to detrermine was which ship. The answer was a Canadian ship, because nodody would care. China's point would be made, but nobody would go to war over it. The lesson for us is that when push comes to shove, we are on our own. If we invoke Article 5, NATO would express their condemnation in the strongest terms. I have been advocation for a viable defence policy for almost sixty years. Nobody has listened. The only way to stop an invader is to have the means and the will to terrify any and all comers. You can have a dozen submarines, thousands to droned, hundreds of helicopters, and a hundred Leopard 2 tanks and the CAF may last a month. There are three advisaries currently in mind. Russia, China, and the USA. Of the three, the US is logistically the most able to invade us. China has the Pacific Ocean to contend with. Russia could theoretically come over the pole, but that is on the edge of feasibility. The scenario is that Russia will start mining exploration in our Arctic waters. So, what does the Canadian government propose? Sink their ships? Then what? We could spend 7% of our GDP to build a nuclear force of ICBM's sufficient to destroy any compination of super powers. (400 missiles) for $200 billion. If we were to rely on just conventional arms, the cost would be four times that amount. Or, we could make deals with them to permit access to the arctic. That would be cheaper for everyone. A viable defence budget to make Canada independent from fair-weather allies would be unsustainable financially, and impossible politically. Anyone who has studied Canadian history understands conscription is not going to work. A volunteer system is leaving the CAF significantly below strength. Canadians are unwilling to pay the taxes required, regardless of political affiliation. So, as usual, we have a force to defend NATO. That is important, but it won't defend Canada's sovereignty. If the US invades Canada, we have 450,000 experienced retired and current members of the CAF to make the American experience painful. "If you can't take a joke, you should not have a defence budget." 17. Iran is different with Iraq and Afghanistan. Iranians are asking for US military intervention because this regime is way too brutal to be confronted with millions of unarmed civilians. They will kill them all. Iranians are asking for air support. They want centers of repression, in particular IRGC, Basij to be massively attacked by air BUT NO BOOTS ON THE GROUND. We have 80 million boots on the ground. the Iran nation. We need the repressive forces of islamic republic to be disarmed or weakened. Trump promised help is on its way. He promised he will punish if the regime shoots them or kills them. Well they did. An estimated 40,000 killed and over 300,000 wounded because they trusted Trump. Trump must keep his word or he will go down in history as the coward of 21st century who shares the responsibility for tens of thousands of death. It will be written down as the treason of century by a US President.

  19. There were about 2500 people....is that 95% of the conservative members?? The Conservatives are celebrating Pierre Poilievre’s 87.4% “victory” like they just won the Stanley Cup. But here’s the part they don’t want you to know: This wasn’t an election. This was a confidence review run by party HQ. It wasn’t voted on by: • The public • Conservative voters • Or even the full CPC membership It was voted on by a small, tightly controlled group of registered party members approved by headquarters, the safest possible electorate. That’s not democracy. That’s a corporate board keeping their CEO. If Poilievre had lost: → THEN it would have gone to a real leadership election → THEN members would vote → THEN Canadians would see real competition But he didn’t face that. So no, he didn’t “win.” He was allowed to stay. That’s not a victory. That’s a boss not getting fired. This is the same guy who: • Blew a can’t-lose election • Lost his own seat • Drove MPs out of caucus • Became so toxic his party locked down the voting process And now the Conservatives are throwing confetti because he survived internal HR paperwork. That’s not leadership. That’s tenure. Pierre Poilievre wasn’t elected. He was selected. And every MP who quietly crosses the floor knows exactly what this “win” really means.

  21. You simply shouldn't talk about economics. You get it wrong every time. High interest rates against modest inflation make the dollar MORE attractive to investors, not less. They strengthen the dollar. You've got it ass backward. In spite of the strong fundamentals he inherited, Trump is personally responsible for weakening the dollar. His behavior has damaged the brand. His tariff and trade policies are erratic, unpredictable and illogical. His alienation of allies and threats against NATO members are driving more uncertainty and negative sentiment. The dollar was attractive because it, like America's role in the world order, was steady and reliable. That was the brand. Trump is single-handedly destroying that. People just aren't as confident putting money into an asset that is no longer stable and predictable. And they literally don't like us. Trump is doing more for competitor China than Nixon ever did, driving the world to that economy at the expense of the American people. Because he's a goddamn buffoon.

  22. Truth: the dollar is weakening because the fed held the interest rate too high for too long. There was speculation that the economy was slowing as well (because of tariffs), that caused it to weaken. The GDP is expected to grow, so that will offset some of what the Fed is doing. Since the Fed still has some rates to cut, the dollar will weaken some more. This is why the current Fed Chair is an abject failure. He drove the dollar into the ground because he was too stubborn to work with the POTUS.

  28. You're currently gobbling up the swill you were repeatedly warned you would be dining on. Next up is the predictable reprisals that come with your own return to power, followed by a host of future reprisals (in kind) that will occur when you lose it... a return to the very things you currently lament. Mandatory military service, 3 foreign deployments, and gaining the perspective that goes with it prior to having a vote would solve 90% of the issues being discussed here... and no one will ever convince you of that.

  29. Hate to break it to you, bud, but Singh last three straight elections already. Poilievre has only had one. And the media hated Scheer and hated O'Toole, and hated Harper, and hated Day, and hated Mulroney too. Poilievre got a higher percentage of the vote than any conservative leader since Mulroney (once) and Diefenbaker.

  44. Well according to Trump and his staff they did not see Carneys speech as very flattering....There is no double standard....the governor thing came after Carneys little talk....and besides that the US does not need a deal with Canada....Canada need that deal much more.... and when your a super power you can talk any way you want...I mean really what is Canada going to do....rally our allieds.....Britain has already said which side they are on, and it is not Carneys....and if Britain won't come to our aid who will...We are alone in this fight, and Carney speech's are not doing us any favors....Is this the new Canadian way to negotiate start with a little slander, start talking about you behind their backs and then think we are going to get a good deal.....THIS is trumps second term....IF Canadians have not learned by now what trump is like then really there is no hope....we will screw all of it up because of what pride...I really don't know how we as a nation have lasted this long....i mean we even the provinces can't get along...they will not swallow their pride to help out fellow Canadians....if if we can't get along how are we to get along with our southern neighbors... We will never be free from Trade with the US....why is that so hard to understand...it will take decades to find new trading partners to fill the gap...But most are willing to throw all of that away....for no more than pride... Name me one country that would not pull the plug if need be on our armaments if they decided they did not like Canada's policies....There is always an excuse for Canada not living up to its responsibilities....US presidents have been trying for decades to politely ask us to get our sh!t in a pile ....And now that trump is more or less demanding it, we are mad....and pouting in a corner ....this is not the first time someone from Canada has used the media to slag the US....They are tired of paying all the bills, it is time we stood up and owned that.....telling the media your going to fix it and actually fixing it are two very different things....Sorry heard the same line for 34 years while i was serving...you'll have to forgive me if I'm skeptical....ANY conflict we get into will be on the Americans side...Canada does not , or better yet can't get into anything on it's own, and neither does Europe....Knowing that why would you buy second rate equipment for our men and women , because most Canadians who have this lip on, will never step into any of that equipment because of their hatred of trump......It makes no sense...

  45. Yes. I lived in one for a decade. Very strongly built. Brick walls. Reinforced plaster walls inside. Well bult by people who knew what they were doing and took pride in their work. I'm now in a newly-built home. It has more room, higher ceilings, bigger windows, and the walls are made of plywood or OSB with vinyl siding. You could put a hammer through it. No mesh-reinforced plaster on the inside, either, just drywall. I've watched them built since I moved in here, watched how fast they put up the framing and then slap plywood across it followed by shingles directly to the plywood. And yes, I had a home inspection, and a lot of changes made.

  46. It's not. The truth would have come out by now, but regardless... anyone cheering this on is in the cult and facts only care about their feelings for them. So I'll just give my opinion to save Time: Trump lost, his incompetence is being reflected in the polls, only his die-hard cult continues to defend him.

  47. Everybody heard the tape of Trump trying to interfere with the elections and the public statements of the Republican governor. Trying to rewrite the past to make Trump the hero isn't going to reverse the terrible direction America is taking. My advice to his team is to do a coup now since their politics is turning out to be even worse than their ability to manage...
