Maybe this is just a Twitter rabbit hole I've fallen down, but there seems to be a social media movement in the US to abolish Property Taxes. https://x.com/EricLDaugh/status/1957220344621679045 The idea is that once you own your home you it's like a rent you have to continue to pay. Unlike Cable, Internet, Water, Hydro, Gas, Condo Fees (if applicable)? 🫤 Property taxes are some of the most useful taxes a citizen in the West can pay. They pay for snow removal, police, fire, EMS, libraries. AND Schools! Americans have really lost the plot on this. Is a country that spends a billion dollars on defense quibbling about paying taxes to fund a functioning community. I don't see a movement like this in Canada. We must have more sense . . . right?2 points

Convictions for ignoring prohibitions in BC can come with fines of up to $100,000. If you are convicted of causing a fire that goes out of control, you can be held financially responsible for containment, which would completely ruin you. I'm sure you researched BC's fire prevention policies before posting this, though, right? 😑 https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/prevention/fire-bans-and-restrictions#about_proh2 points

Some should go to jail for massive law breaking. Caused massive inconvenience and delays and much expense to thousands of travelers for extra hotels, taxis, and meals. We are either a country of laws or not.2 points

And we do that by letting them go back to their own countries free of charge. This is a merit based immigration system not open border nonsense.2 points

Totally agree. The now typical political divisivness appears to be part of America's very core. For the life of me I can't see how that benefits the country and the people short or long time. In fact, it has and will continue to lend itself to a lesser global leadership position and weaker ally relationships as the divisiveness grows.1 point

Love it. They are making sure none of the Cali/NY leftist racism reaches their schools. We don't need that stuff here in the right minded part of the country.1 point

Despite @robosmith trying to derail another thread, let's not forget what deportations stop Women/girls raped during border crossing Deaths by dehydration, snake bites, drowning, heat exhaustion in the back of a semi, shot by cartels, etc Men/boys forced into drug trade, becoming mules or selling on the corners Women/girls being sold into sex slavery Forced labor in sweatshops Homelessness Rampant crime (gangs call illegal aliens ATMs because they always have cash) Fentanyl deaths of americans and illegal aliens alike The point is, deportation might not be pretty, but it has dramatically lowered the encounters at the southern border. That means all those things I listed above are down as well. So what is more humanitarian? Allowing all the above or stopping it?1 point

The Libs are doing the same thing with forest mgmt that they did with covid mgmt. Covid: From Jan - March 16th 2020, when he had basically no covid here, Chinese people could fly here from China, where covid was rampant, with no masks, no testing, no quarantine period, and they could go into any building they pleased and do whatever they wanted. Then less than two weeks later, Canadians couldn't even walk outside in parks. Forestry: Do nothing. Don't even talk about arsonists. Then just say "No one is allowed to go into the forest anymore". Why can't people go into the forest? Don't want any witnesses?1 point

And spending money on one is not the same as spending money on the other, dumbass. What people are trying to explain to you is that the better job you do of forest management, the less money you have to spend on fighting forest fires. But, as we've seen with fighting covid, energy sector projects, the economy, trade relations, foreign relations in general, etc, foresight isn't a Liberal trait. You guys always have to almost learn from your mistakes.1 point

2011 was the only example we have. The Liberals were decimated and the Jack Layton led NDP became leaders of the opposition. The CPC was able to own the middle while the NDP took the left. The NDP collapsing this year was the main reason why the Liberals won. The CPC's share of the vote didn't change it's the Left of the Liberals were helped out by NDP voters.1 point

But thanks to negligence and a deep hatred for this country, the democrats have made it next to impossible for the US to be a "beacon of humanitarian protection", as now we've been shoved into survival mode.1 point

lol.... keep trying Shady 😂 Facts are facts....and Poilievre had to run to buttluck AB to find a way back into his job. I'm sure you're good with the $2M we spent for that right...?1 point

We already have grounds to deport him - he broke into the f*cking country. The question is what to do with the piece of shit: Do we send him to Alligator Alcatraz, or should we just finger print him and deport him with the promise that we shoot his ass if we catch him in the country again? I prefer the latter.1 point

Just heard Poilievre's acceptance speech to the raucous crowd of 15 people in his new riding.... 'The deficit is out of control'..... but I do appreciate everyone ponying up for the $2M tax payer dollars to get my job back.1 point

You say that to everyone who's right when you're wrong Apperently pointing out facts and using reason and logic makes someone an *sshole in your books. And once again, couldn't refute a single thing, just the usual crying ' SNIF! MEAN LOGICAL FACT MAN MEAN TO ME AGAIN!! HE BAD! HE BAD MAN!! SNIF!!" Pathetic.1 point

Yes, for the good of Canada. We’re in really bad shape thanks to really bad policies over the last ten years implemented by the Liberals.1 point

There seems to be no end to the shame, humiliation and embarrassment this oaf is causing the American public. You just accept more and more everyday. The whole world is disgusted by this display at the Disastuh in Alaska a fawning, needy fat wimp sucking up to an actual ruthless strongman. How long you gonna listen to these untemenschen tell you that YOU are the crazy ones and get off your arses and DO something?1 point
