This sure takes revisionism to a new high. She was at the head of a mob climbing through a window inside the Capital building to get at the likely terrified people on the other side who's job it was to protect some pretty high ranking representatives. American taxpayers are bloody lucky they didn't open fire with a machine gun or Trump might have had to settle for $300 million.3 points

Do people not have the faintest grasp on good manners any more? I don’t have to belong to a religious sect to respect those who do, so if I were a politician I would not have to be told not to mock a recently deceased, widely respected religious leader. Why are people defending the indefensible here? It’s a form of collective madness.2 points

PP is very popular with CPC supporters. Pretty good chance he hangs on to the leadership.2 points

I've no intent to duplicate threads and discussions but this is a specific and concrete angle that is absolutely worth discussing and right now. Because for the party at least it's the watershed moment, and the consequences can and will be monumental altering the life, the position and the nature itself. This is maga as it is and I'm quoting: "Poilievre had his chance and he blew it. Instead of attacking and mocking the media that despised him he went meek and mild on them. PP knew that the media hated him so why go easy on them. Trump called the American media a lying and fake media and the people liked that and ate that up. PP has his own self to blame. He was just to week and wimpy for me. Canada needed a strong like leader like Trump to help save Canada". The problem was he didn't attack enough, too little of a good thing. The problem was, he didn't embrace full-heartedly the idea that when reality tells you something you don't want to hear you should kick it away and do more of the same. It's not you, the reality is wrong, and the adversary then: the enemy. So that's maga and the Conservatives today have come to its threshold, and even started testing it, with a toe. Astounding vitriol from very near circles against provincial politicians even of the same ostensibly, stripe. They didn't fall in line, bend the knee and kiss the boot - how dared they! Maga. Yes, it's here. No denying it. Conservatives have weeks and months now to make this decision and choice. And it can very well be irreversible. Nothing to guess here.1 point

Eyeball says: Sure and for every person who says that there's another who'll say the opposite Sure, we know the school kids are being brainwashed by the woke NDP as they control the school agenda with their SOGI 123 curriculum. So what Greta Thunberg thinks is all that matters. Shut down resource development, abolish capitalism, and embrace Socialism. That's their insane ideology. Self destructive. We could end up as a Venezuelan basket case, paying 50 bucks for a loaf of bread or a litre of gas.1 point

Labour party cruised to a majority with 68% of the vote in Australia and the Conservative leader also lost his seat. The Trump effect decides another one.1 point

BBC Dec 12 2019 "Canada's Conservative leader Andrew Scheer is stepping down after facing criticism for failing to oust Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in October's election." BBC Feb 2 2022 "Canada's Conservative MPs have voted to oust Erin O'Toole as party leader after only 18 months in the job. On Wednesday, 73 of the 118 Conservative parliamentarians voted to replace the man who led the party to defeat in last year's election." Wikipedia "Diefenbaker stayed on as party leader, becoming Opposition leader, but his second loss at the polls prompted opponents within the party to force him to a leadership convention in 1967. Diefenbaker stood for re-election as party leader at the last moment, but attracted only minimal support and withdrew." Thought you knew a bit about politics. Every party does this, here, Britain, and elsewhere.1 point

I have absolutely no doubt that Trump will look Carney in the eye and say: "The reason that you are here is because of me." If Carney foolishly answers, "I am here because of the Canadian people." then Carney will have lost the game.1 point

Here is the demonstrable truth. What the left claims is "Radical" Right-wing thinking and the rise of stronger right wing ideology is a response to the extreme leftism that began to show up in about 2008 to 2011. The left has never put this together going back to the Red Wedding incident in the 1920s which helped propel the Nazis the power. The left becomes extreme, the right becomes extreme in response. When the left behaves in an excessive manner the right will wind up mirroring it given time. When you have a democrat party that believes in creating fake charges to try and suppress their political opponents then you are going to get right wing presidents who don't give a crap with the court say. If you don't respect the rule of law they won't respect the rule of law that's how it works I mentioned this for a year before trump got elected. The best thing the left can possibly do to put an end to what they perceive as being trumpian politics is to kick out every radical lefty in their ranks and duct tape anyone who Thinks that everyone right of Castro is a fascist, and put forward a normal moderate fiscally sensible socially responsible democrat candidate for the next election. They can still be on the left, nobody saying they have to be right wing. But they need to stop being woke candidates, and the party needs to stop being woke. Having a 30 ft iUD outside of your convention is woke Put an end the culture wars. Just show up and talk about how you're going to run the country, don't go on about how all Republicans are Hitler, stop canceling people, just show up with a strong, well thought out fiscally moderate socially moderate democrat platform and talk about bringing people together instead of smashing them apart. Otherwise you get trump forever. Trump is a reaction to the severe wokeism and totalitarianism we saw on the left. Trump is what happens when you put a fake president forward for 4 years knowing that he is mentally incompetent so that people don't even know who was really running the country. Trump is what happens when you try to illegally pay off billions and billions in student loans unfairly to those who had to pay theirs off themselves. Trump is what happens when you create fake criminal charges to go after your political opponents with If the democrats come to the center then the republicans will move to meet them but otherwise you get trump1 point

We creamed the best of the easiest forests where I live, what's left is mostly harvested by machines with one operator instead of a crew 7-8. Fishing is just a shadow of what it used to be. You can bet the best ore deposits have similarly been mined and high-graded. Politicians are sure talking it up. What did you think all this talk of unleashing the resource sector was about? Well sure, all politicians promise the moon when they're campaigning so yeah, it's a good question. But as far as a resource rennaiscence goes that's pretty much what many Canadians have been told to expect. Where have you been?1 point

WoW, what a witty response! You have me driving in the grip of your logic! lol well i guess that's your way of admitting you're a retarded twit without saying it out loud you must really win ALL the debates at recess! Oh look, a leftie is losing an argument and resorts to sexual fantasies instead of an intelligent reply. Gosh, we've NEVER seen that before LOLOL And a brief reminder, almost as many chose pierre. And the others didn't really choose Carney, they chose to be afraid of trump The people that chose pee pee will choose him again, they've been saying they would choose him for the last year. The people who were afraid of trump won't be afraid of trump forever But hey, even if carney loses in the future, you'll still have your sexual fantasies to keep you company I suppose Nonsense. I'm never going to vote liberal1 point

Get it through your fat heads - Alberta is NOT going to separate. If the mad cow Danielle even authorized a referendum it would be the end of her party and normal Conservatives would return. Same for Mr Moe next door. Use your heads, both provinces are too geographically f*cked to succeed as independent nations.1 point

You point out what many do not want to see, that there was a mood for change, and we got it. But we wanted change for the better, not the grotesque rerun of "crime - immigration - social 'conservatism' and repeated claims the notwithstanding clause is a 'common' everyday article all other govts were too stupid to use to rule by decree just like using the same tactics and slogans as the guy we want you want to stand up to. In spite of drawing the vote of every single Conservative, every right-wing extremist and a population so disgruntled even some of the actual leftist - they still lost. And cannot face up as to why. Foreign interference Rejected in TWO national elections1 point

I'm not a fan of this. She was part of a mob that was told not to pass through those doors and those doors were locked. I'd support any cop or civilian that felt threatened and stood his/her ground. But, the left is hyper hypocritical here when they say it's ok to shoot an unarmed white woman. This implies it is only unarmed black men that are immune from being shot by cops. If this had been a white cop and a black man, you know damn good and well the left would have rioted and burned down and/or looted some black business, demanding justice. And I would still be consistent. Stand your ground is a solid principle and applies to this case.1 point

Oh yeah man, totally. Spending the last 3 years masturbating to Pierre Poilievre clips has given you deep insights into why Canadians chose Carney over him. 🫠1 point
-
I have a great deal of insight and perspective on it. But that's quite an overreaction on your part Sounds like you know I'm right and it pisses you off. You couldn't make it intelligent argument against it so instead you lashed out with the most ridiculous rhetoric and exaggeration you could think of Boy, you've really convinced everyone I'm sure1 point

You're guaranteeing something you have absolutely no perspective or insight on, and something you're literally not even capable of thoughtfully considering. Like all of the other stuff you spout off on, your opinion is useless. Your coping rationalization is comical. You are useless. 🤡1 point

Yeah. That's how much the party believes in Poilievre. He's promised not to run in that writing for the next election, so this is temporary. But yeah people have a lot of faith that Poilievre will learn from his mistakes and will win the next election handily I guarantee nobody in the liberal side of things believes in carney that much1 point

I believe he's referring to the woman who was part of a howling mob that was threatening to kill Pelosi and Pence, who smashed their way into the capital and chased our legislators until they were cornered -- and then broke through the windows of the final barricade and started climbing through. Or as Trump called them, his people. They were probably joking about the killing stuff and were just smashing through the barricade because they were so eager to shake the hands of the legislators and thank them for their dedication to public service.1 point

🙏👍❤️ Obviously. Some people don't believe that objectivity and open mindedness are possible. I suspect that they're just not used to compromising.1 point

Of course I would support Poilievre if he was down there. When our PM is dealing with a dangerous foreign adversary who has threatened our sovereignty we have to play as one team. A Tory win wouldn’t have made much difference to my life other than maybe lowering my taxes over the longer term. Poilievre behaved like a normal Canadian politician in this election and accepted the result.1 point
-
Agreed. Only prejudice would cause you to think that a PM naturally wouldn't want to help. I don't like Poilievre but I would absolutely trust him to try his best in a negotiation.1 point

I support any PM of ours who has to deal with such a disgraceful person.1 point
