Don't let Trudeau have you see it through his warped lens. I can understand other nations would want to use tariff for what they think is for the good of their own nation(s). If Trump - or any other leaders - would do it to us, the way I see it is......................that's just the way it is. BUT, we can all tighten our belts, and stand together. BUT - the LIBERAL PARTY (Trudeau and MPs), don't have the MORAL ground to lead us into this, and expect Canadians to stand with them! HECK - it's one thing for another nation to inflict pain on us.............but, it's really quite another for our very own PM to be inflicting hurt on us....................... ........................... ON TOP OF WHAT WE KNOW, IS GONNA BREAK SO MANY OF US! The tarrif is one thing. The carbon tax, is quite another. Why would I expect Smith to stand with Trudeau for the so-called good of the country? Is Trudeau standing for us? I don't think so. HECK - what good for the country is the carbon tax gonna be? Why should Canadians wait for a new Prime Minister to cancel it? I'm asking: Why is our PM hurting us so badly? Why can't he say, "because of the tarrif that will hurt our people, I'm going to cancel the carbon tax that's supposed to come on April, and postpone it for another time, to help ease the hurt the tarrif will inflict on our people." I'm not going to find fault with Danielle Smith. BUT I surely, am pointing my finger at TRUDEAU! HOW COULD YOU?3 points

Carney bans independent media from campaign launch | True North Hasn't even launched his campaign and is already practicing censorship. Well if anyone had any questions about whether or not he was any different than the previous liberal government, there you go.3 points

BINGO betsy! The Canadian Liberals are panicking and doing what the Democrats tried. Copy the common sense of their adversary in hopes nobody will remember they supported Pixie-Dust and his destructive ideas all along. Will Canadians fall for this brand of chickenshit politics? Gawd I hope not!3 points
-
To add salt and insult to injury..... Carney was implying he'll do away with the carbon tax. He's gonna replace it with something that won't hurt. Its not because he thinks of us. Let's not kid ourselves! He's going to do it because POILIEVRE promises to do it! The gall! They're using pain to pressure Canadians into voting them back in. SHAME ON THE LIBERALS! I hope they end up with only 1 seat or none at all!3 points

As someone from Canada put it, precisely and succinctly, where was nothing sudden about these events. For years, it was painfully clear that the political system has reached it's best before limit and moved way past it. There are no more quick band-aid fixes from this condition than trying to stick it on a broken main pipe. More alarming precedents have been created over a few years than the decades that preceded them. It has to mean something. It cannot be shrugged away. And there are some important lessons for the rest of us who value and intend to keep our democracies. First, big business and politics is a bad and dangerous mix. Big money shouldn't be allowed anywhere near public politics, laws and regulations, firm and penalties for violations, severe. It was plainly, dumb of Americans to view democracy as a magic well that would take in and digest any sh*t they throw at it and excrete pure ambrosia. They could have guessed nothing in this world works this way. They were warned it won't work this way because it's a dumb fairy tale that doesn't and cannot exist in this universe. Democracy is for grown up, thinking and responsible citizens. And no other magic will work to keep it. Now, looking at the example they are offering us, generously we need to recall and remember that. Second, polarization, animosity and negativity is a serious symptom. It cannot be dismissed and ignored as "marginal" and needs to be looked at and understood by the society. In this case, traditional elites yet again sat back in their comfy chairs failing to address two importation issues of a growing concern to the broader society: stagnation of broad prosperity; and immigration. And not lastly, democracy does not take well stalling and stagnation. When an impasse is looming, the society must look for solutions, try novel approaches but to sit back in the high tower and preach from there is a failing strategy that may very well lead to the condition we're observing these very days before us. Democracy is no magic and reciting fairy tales won't keep it going. Daily thought and reason, thoughtful and respectful discussion of responsible citizens who value each other and their shared present and future. Today, tomorrow and every day - for as long as democracy lasts.2 points

Don't you mean a key principle of justice verified by the American public? If so then correct you would be. If not then your attempt is like trying to add spice to a Carolina Reaper pepper.2 points

Not according to the courts. Trump did try to argue before the courts that conduct similar to his had occurred before, and to charge him would conflict with historical practice, but that is false. There were no historical analogues to Trump’s criminal behavior. From page 91 of Smith’s report: The historical episodes that Mr. Trump invoked-arising from elections in 1800, 1824, 1876, 1960, 2000, 2004, and 2016-did not involve similar conduct and did not supply a valid reason to decline to bring charges here. In litigation, the Office addressed each historical episode he cited and explained why none was meaningfully similar to the charged conduct. See ECF No. 139 at 40-47; ECF No. 141 at 6-9. Taken together, those episodes showed that "[t]here have been times, as in 1800, 1876, and 1960, when genuine questions have arisen over which slate of electors from a particular state has been duly appointed"; "[t]here have also been times, as in 1824, when the failure of any candidate to obtain a majority of electoral votes has thrown the election to the House of Representatives"; and "there have been times, as in 2000, 2004, and 2016, when those dissatisfied with the results have sought to raise objections to the electoral vote count, resulting in either the objections being overruled or, in one case, a brief adjournment designed as an Ohio-focused protest vote without 'the hope or even the hint of overturning the victory of the President."' ECF No. 139 at 46-47 (quoting 151 CONG. REC. 199 (Jan. 6, 2005)). But none of the historical episodes at issue involved "any attempt by any person to use fraud and deceit to obstruct or defeat the governmental function that would result in the certification of the lawful winner of a presidential election." Id. at 40-47; see ECF No. 141 at 6-9. From page 92 of Smith’s report: Mr. Trump was "not being prosecuted for publicly contesting the results of the election; he is being prosecuted for knowingly making false statements in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy and for obstruction of election certification proceedings." ECF No. 198 at 5-7. Likewise, in its opinion denying Mr. Trump's immunity motion, the district court found that "none of the contested elections" Mr. Trump "invokes is analogous to this case," as none involved "any allegation that any official engaged in criminal conduct to obstruct the electoral process." ECF No. 171 at 47.2 points

No sitting president had ever attempted to steal an election. No sitting president had ever illegally attempted to prevent the certification of the president-elect’s victory. No sitting president had ever tried to use the powers of the federal government to reverse the outcome of an election.2 points

There. While it is true 38 states ratified the amendment, several did it after the deadline and 5 rescinded. That leaves the amendment 8 states short. If there is a need, let's have congress propose it again and vote on it again. I presume that 46 years ago this amendment was helpful. I'm not sure it is needed today. But, it is possible, I guess, that it might be needed in the future.2 points

Each day I will post about someone who is involved with making America a better place. With so much hatred and division, one person stands out: AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a true American hero. She came from humble beginnings in the Bronx, living with her working class family. AOC never had a free ride, like most politicians. She did it the old fashion way, putting herself through University by working as a waitress and bartender. She exhibits all the traits Americans should strive for. She cares for the working class, and is a peoples champion. Not only is AOC physically beautiful, but her heart is in the right place.1 point

I'm not surprised at all. Look at the price of real estate in Toronto and Vancouver, and then the US... For people who aren't already tied down by a mtg, the US offers a lot more opportunity. IMO there aren't a lot of places to live here that don't suck for young people because they're either 1) cold and shitty with no major cultural centres 2) expensive AF. If a young person was going to move away to find an affordable home, where would they want to go: Winnipeg, Edmonton, Dallas or Las Vegas? Nominally Canada is a larger country than the US, but if you take into account how much of our country is covered by mountains and permafrost, or is located on remote ice-islands, we're not that big of a country. I can't believe people move here from Mexico and Costa Rica. I think that's retarded.1 point

Lol You're just delusional. Only the crackpottiest of the crackpots think that the most scrutinized election in history--with no evidence of systemic fraud--was illegitimate. Every recount, every audit, every court case all found the same thing. Just you loons still howling at the moon.1 point

Progressives always claim to be so concerned about the environment so what do you guys think of Carney's actual record? I hate to post anything from Greenpeace, but here's what they say about Carney. We know Carney opposes Canadian pipelines but... https://unearthed.greenpeace.org/2021/02/26/mark-carney-brookfield-net-zero-cop-fossil-fuel-coal-oil-gas/ Carney’s ‘net-zero’ investment firm has billions in coal and oil sands projects You will hear about this from sources like True North and Rebel News, but probably not from the CBC, CTV etc.1 point

He's already admitted that. The definition is fluid to him. To him a definition means something that changes whenever you feel like it on a whim without general consensus, especially for marketing purposes. To me that's not the definition of definition as i would define definition but if you do use his definition for definition that I guess the definition of definition must be fluid as well. And this is why it's impossible to talk to the work left1 point

Except when I'm making you look stupid, it's just by quoting you and knocking it down with barely a full sentence. It's even simpler than that IMO, if you need supplementation (topically) then use it. I use it because I need to, the next more potent form (from what I use) is available by prescription only... so it is considered medication depending on concentration. The thing is, I don't expect my neighbour to use it if he doesn't need to... it's not that complicated, it's a topical application.... I don't think we should be putting Preparation H into our water supply simply because Robo needs to gargle with it either.1 point

The link provided no evidence that True North or Rebel News received any funding from Russia. And could you provide evidence that anything they have said is Russian disinformation? How about anything that is disinformation? Lauren Southern testified about all of these allegations already and you clearly didn't watch it. Funny how you guys have such an obsession with Russia, but don't seem to have much concern about China.1 point

But you see it appears that humanity never actually learns anything. There's certain evolutionary reason for that but the way it works every few generations, forget the books, stories, films, personal records and so on, we have to reinterpret the rules and wisdom passed to us over from the earlier times. And the result of this process isn't guaranteed by far and by anything. So yes, literally over the same pothole again and again and it takes just once to sink into it.1 point

From Ronald Reagan's 1981 inaugural address: To a few of us here today this is a solemn and most momentous occasion, and yet in the history of our nation it is a commonplace occurrence. The orderly transfer of authority as called for in the Constitution routinely takes place, as it has for almost two centuries, and few of us stop to think how unique we really are. In the eyes of many in the world, this every-4-year ceremony we accept as normal is nothing less than a miracle. Mr. President, I want our fellow citizens to know how much you did to carry on this tradition. By your gracious cooperation in the transition process, you have shown a watching world that we are a united people pledged to maintaining a political system which guarantees individual liberty to a greater degree than any other, and I thank you and your people for all your help in maintaining the continuity which is the bulwark of our Republic.1 point

That un Canadian Red Marxist team have pretty much destroyed Canada and have tried hard to turn Canada into a Marxist country. When Trump gets sworn in, those team Canada Marxist players will soon find themselves sitting on their commie asses and crying. As soon as the Conservative Party takes over Ottawa in the next election, from the french controlled Marxists that now run Ottawa and Canada, it will be the end of the 57 variety's of genders, pronoun nonsense, trans sillyness, woke/DEI bull chit, and Marxism in Canada. It's time to bring back common sense and logic back to Canada. The social Marxist experiment in Canada will hopefully soon be over. Enough already of that insane leftist liberal/NDP Marxist madness. 🤮1 point

Actually it's a good time for Danielle Smith to go and state her (and Alberta's) case, because anyone worth knowing (politically) is going to be there. She will likely find common ground with more than a few U.S. politicians. If she did nothing it would be a dereliction of her duties as Premier. Of course there are always a few maroons amongst us who think otherwise.1 point
