Just so that we knew. The decay of American political system by any standard: intellectual, professional, competence and transparency is in the full view and accelerating right before our eyes. Today. And there are no miracles that could reverse it magically and painlessly. Yes, we chose it. And sure, we knew.2 points

"Nothing could be further from the truth"? ^^ Case in point. If you looked at data instead of your feelings you'd already know that this is actually--and alarmingly--true. There's an entire political movement premised on the idea that the people voting will believe any dumb thing they are told if it runs against those pesky experts, elites and institutions. Facts: More facts:2 points

Trump is in good company. Time Magazine People of the Year in the past 100 years: 1931- Pierre Laval. Infamous traitor, and collaborator with the Nazis. Executed for treason 1945. 1938- Adolf Hitler. Nazi leader. Responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent people 1939- Joseph Stalin. Soviet Leader. Responsible for the deaths of millions of people. 1979- Ayatollah Khomeini. Iranian Islamic revolutionary. Held US hostages captive for over a year. 1995- Newt Gingrich. Speaker of the House. Paved the way for divisive politics. 2001- Rudy Giuliani. Former mayor of NYC when 9/11 happened. Alcoholic who tried to overturn election. 2007- Vladimir Putin. Russian dictator. 2021- Elon Musk.2 points

Trump's foreign policy was a disaster. First, he abandoned the Kurdish people, and destabilised Syria by withdrawing all troops. Then he held up aid and training to Ukraine. China sees through Trump as a very weak leader, and will do everything possible to interfere and possibly invade Taiwan. Finally, he withdrew troops from Afghanistan, when the US was stabilising the region Trump also destabilised the Israel region, by not inviting the Palestinians to his proposed peace plan, and moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, probably accelerating the 10/7 attack.2 points

The election is actually happening a week late, so that NDP backbenchers can get their hefty lifetime pensions. That's literally the only reason why we still have this hapless, criminal gov't.2 points

This isn't new information. In fact, the spying on churches was leaked in 2023 and backed with official documents: FBI Under Pressure for Targeting Catholics in Leaked Document2 points

The pompous ass won the Presidency with threats and mockery, he truly believes he can win the World that way too. Like I said. BOOR If Poilievre has the balls to tell Trump to f*ck off and die, I will vote Conservative.2 points

I have previously mentioned another case where a man felt threatened by another and then proceeded to stab him to death. He did not attempt to restrain him, pulling out a knife and stabbing him. Like Jordan Neely, the man that got stabbed was also threatening others. This case didn't attract the same kind of attention as the Penny/Neely case, probably because of race. And Jordan Neely had a long record and history of assaults. 42 prior arrests. The Democrats in charge just kept putting him back on the streets. https://nypost.com/2023/06/28/accused-j-train-stabber-dodges-manslaughter-charges-in-fatal-nyc-subway-brawl-sources/ “Under New York law, a person is justified in using deadly physical force when they reasonably believe it is necessary to use such force to defend themselves or others from imminent use of deadly or unlawful physical force.”2 points

Well, the Person of the Year award does not go to the one who makes society better, or necessarily done something Honorable. The criteria to win, is during the past year, if they have had a influenced the World, whether positive or negative. In 2001, I believe that Time initially wanted to make Osama Bin Laden the Person of the Year, but decided that was too controversial, and went with Giuliani. This is the second time Trump was voted Person of the Year. He won the award in 2016.1 point

Let's be clear: you and I both know that you're not capable of anything beyond blind trust. You don't don't have any awareness of or interest in data, and no facility for reason. You are simply going to blindly follow whoever says something contrary to the "elites," whom you jealously mistrust. That's why you're a "case in point" and here you're just making the point again. Experts are experts because they have the information, training and aptitude to excel in their fields. They are "elite" because they achieve in those fields far beyond their peers and light years beyond what laypeople are able to follow. They aren't your enemies, even though they sometimes offer you truths that are inconvenient. If you were "mature" instead of simply old, you'd appreciate their work. But instead you plug your ears and wait for some know-nothing politician to tell you something vastly less informed but far more palatable. And here we see how the Republican party has become intolerable to the learned.1 point

Sure you do; you just don't know it. Antifa and BLM are left-wing crazies, just like you. You're all fighting for the same shit: anti-Trumpism, abortion, open borders, trans/LGB agenda, you know, the basics.1 point

Ford threatens to cut off Ontario's energy supply to U.S. if Trump follows through on tariffs Ontario premier spoke after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Canada's premiers Wednesday Premier Doug Ford says Ontario could cut off energy to the U.S. if president-elect Donald Trump makes good on a threat to impose steep tariffs on Canadian goods. Ford told reporters at Queen's Park that federal Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland will put together a list of items upon which Canada could impose retaliatory tariffs and so will the Ontario government. "We will go to the full extent depending how far this goes. We will go to the extent of cutting off their energy, going down to Michigan, going down to New York State and over to Wisconsin. I don't want this to happen, but my number one job is to protect Ontario, Ontarians and Canadians as a whole since we're the largest province," Ford said. "Let's see what happens as we move forward. But we'll use every tool in our toolbox, including cutting them off energy that we're sending down there," he added. Ford and other provincial and territorial premiers met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau virtually on Wednesday to discuss a threat by Trump to impose 25 per cent tariffs on goods coming in from Canada unless the country improves security along the Canada-U.S. border. Canada has vowed to increase border security despite a lack of evidence for Trump's claims about illicit fentanyl pouring into the U.S. from Canada. source: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/doug-ford-ontario-premiers-meet-justin-trudeau-1.7407948 ----- This is a such a contrast from Alberta simping for Trump. I have new found respect for Ford.1 point

So what you're saying is you prefer corruption to competence. Trudeau has literally destroyed this country. Double the debt, none of our government departments are working properly, turn people against each other, and even managed to start turning people off of climate change initiatives and against immigrants and all the while stealing massive amounts of taxpayer money and funneling it into friendly organizations along with many of his ministers. What could you possibly imagine Poilievre is going to do that is somehow worse than this?1 point

As I explained, it's not a genetic mutation, but the effect of hormones that causes the brain to differentiate to the opposite sex. The argument I presented does not come from the trans community but from the scientific community. At the link is a list of 30 (American) medical organizations that recognize the medical necessity of treatments for gender dysphoria and endorse such treatments. Medical Organization Statements I don't think anyone would think that is acceptable. But to entirely dismiss the trans community as non-existent does not follow from that particular prohibition. I’ve noticed a marked resentment against the so-called “trans agenda.” When an identifiable group of people claim their rights, when they want the right to be free of discrimination, and the right to safety, that is not an “agenda.” That is only granting them what citizenship in a modern democracy that values human rights promises them.1 point
