We have inefficient transit because we are and have been a car culture. Tokyo, density is absurdly higher than anywhere in Canada. And they built their system right after the US gave them everything after WWII. Hong Kong is even higher density in a area smaller than GTA. NYC has been building their system for well over 100 years to get where they are now. London same as NYC, over 100 years and still building. No sense to buy a car because there is no place to park in any of those places LOL Nothing "woke" about it. Our municipalities and the people that live in them would rather drive than take transit and not that it cost an absurd amount, it is less palatable. Comparing to cities that have had this for over 100 years is stupid.

We saw some movement in early january and trump took the lead by a nose (but - like a fairly big nose. An "italian" lead if you will), but since then the polls have been largely stagnant - they just bounce around a bit within their margin of error as you'd expect but there's no real movement. In elections there tends to be specific points where the undecided or 'soft' votes tend to move one way or another, and they tend to be fairly stable in between. The first week or so of an election, right after debates, the last 4 days etc. I think right now we've just gone through the 'pre-eleciton' phase and barring something significant happen we're probably not going to see a lot of motion between now and the start of the election, where people start paying attention again. Maybe at the nominations where there's a little media coverage of the 'official' candidates. But obviously the start of the race is going to see trump with a slight advantage over biden. The campaign will decide who wins in the end tho, campaigns always matter but this time more than usual i'd think.

To be honest - many are leaving already. This is another kick in the teeth. Doctors used to be paid as 'income' and letting them incorporate and sell their practices as retirement benfits as 'capital gains' and such was basically instead of giving them a raise. Now that's being taken away as well. And of course it's not just if they retire. If they move from one place to another they tend to sell practices as well. I mean, you can't say it's "no big deal it doesn't mean much" and then justify taking it away - if it's minor, then let them have it. And many countries pay their doctors better. The states for example pays much better than Canada does and it's fairly easy to transfer your certification. And it's within walking distance Don't try to put lipstick on the pig. The preferential treatment of Capital Gains perversely incentivizes many business owners to sell instead of invest. Why grow your business and earn fully taxable income when you can sell it for partially taxable income? The Canadian economy has a real problem with foreign ownership, owners and founders selling off businesses prematurely and low productivity, and the Captive Gains special treatment contributes to that.
