Kamala's chances aren't great at the moment. They are trying desperately to give her momentum by flooding every news outlet with hyper positive garbage to make it seem like she has a chance. But the simple fact is it is very very late in the game for her to be trying to start her motor never mind running the race. She has about a 30 to 40% chance of winning

 

what she desperately needs is a major boost start. She needs for the public to be thinking of her in the most positive light possible, she needs the public to be talking about anything other than her track record or Biden's, and she needs to present some reason for people to think of her as a symbol of hope and not a symbol of impending disaster with a horrible cackle.

If the democrats want to win, they talk Biden into stepping down from the presidency. They do a huge emotional transfer of power to Kamala acts like a father giving away the bride and stepping aside and falling in battle like the old soldier he is passing the baton to a new hero with his final gasp in public as he hugs her and says "I'm so sorry i couldn't be there fighint beside you to the end. It's up to you to carry on for both of us and save america. now go beat his pants off kid"  (Snif'!)   there woudn't be  a dry eye in the house. 

For the next week and a half all that would be in the paper is america's first female president, America's first female black president, how does Obama feel about seeing another black person in the white house so fast, isn't it great that we have finally broken the glass ceiling, etc etc.

All the talk will be about her and how great this is and what she might do in the future, and everything in the past will be forgotten. She would sail into September ahead of trump in the polls, the center of attention and the bell of the ball.

Now trump basically becomes a giant orange death star, she becomes Luke kamalawalker and her running mate is either han or chewie, depending on whether its Shapiro or Kelly (itl'll  be kelly you heard it here first), and everyone everywhere is rooting for her 

If the dems realize that she wins. If they don't she's got a hell of a road ahead of her.

I don't think Joe is willing to do that. I'm not saying you are wrong, but it isnt going to happen. It seems that Trump had several weeks to get ready for this inevitable scenario. If I was a betting man, they will lean heavily on attacking her record as the "Border Czar."

Trump's best move is to attack the record and promote his. Attack what they do, not who they are. That is what holds and extends the lead. Democrats can't run on their record. No one is happy with the border, economy or world stability. Just hit those three with a relentless jack hammer.

For sure - she's weak.  She's also never even had a single nomination vote ever in her life, she quit before getting even one in the 2020 lead up.  Her career in law was highly suspect - she put a lot of people in jail for minor drug crimes and has been widely critisized for it, she's vunerable there. She promised to do a lot of things if she became president that are pretty controversial, like "ban all fracking". That'll cost her a state or two right there 

She's a terrible candidate. And the discussion will be very much about her negatives and not trump, which is death for her. 

But - if she were crowned princess of the free world by biden and we had 2 months of photo ops of her doing 'presidential things' then it totally changes the picture. 

But i do agree with you - biden is probably too self centered and he hates her.  They'd have to offer him one hell of  a sweet bribe. But - that's how you do it, that's how she wins.

She does that, lays out a clear and concise plan--a breath of fresh air to Americans, and they may forget her cackling incoherent speeches.

I think if she can manage to make Americans believe she's an option for actual change  she wins handily.

She gets into a mud slinging war, and she is dealing with a highly narssissitic individual who would beat her with experience.

What they do and who they are is intertwined by design. To attack their policies of racist hiring practices for example is to target them as a person.

Vice President Harris adds a new element to the race. Joy. She is always smiling and her laugh has become a meme. There is nothing wrong with laughter. It is refreshing. 

The border issue for the GOP relies on the electorate forgetting that after the Administration successfully got a bi-partisan bill to deal with the problem, it was former President Trump who killed it. 

I don't wish to be disrespectful of the former President by pointing out xxxxx*********************(deleted brilliant stuff)********************************************. These kinds of things would be disrespectful to a person who once held the highest office in the USA, and , besides, I predict he is going to win the election and so I don't want to feel his retribution. Trump mocking her laugh is a bad move. She enjoys herself. 

He comes across as angry and miserable. He should pound her policies into the ground.

Making it personal, just gets her tons of space to taunt her V card and race card to remove disgusted voters from the potential pool of indecisive people.

It would be very hard to dodge discussions about her past, and if this becomes a discussion about her she loses. It would inevitably turn to the biden era and other past issues and the border and it would be hard to get away from that. 

She needs a reset so that people have something new to talk about and a few new policies aren't going to give her that i suspect.

Republicans aren't doing themselves any favours by calling her a DEI nomination. 

She was the DA of the largest state in the country and a Senator. That's more experience in public life than Trump ever had. 

She'll also likely nominate a Governor from a swing state as a Veep. 

If Trump does agree to debate her, the way he handled Hillary won't work against Harris.

It could be argued that her failure in 2020 was because of BLM. But I think the political winds have changed.

Exactly. But it's not just the Dems... It's also CNN, MSNBC, NBC et al.

Not really. It was never really actually about his age. It was about his dementia. That's what people were talking about nicely when they said too old. Well that's just silly. She's been a da. And she was highly criticized as a da for her constant jailing of poor people for minor drug charges.

Her failure was because she was a poor candidate. She did bad in the debates, she did bad at winning people over, she was extremely vulnerable given her record as a da, she simply was not very good. And the point of this whole thread was how can they give a boost to someone who is clearly disadvantaged. She is disadvantaged in time which is the big thing, she is disadvantaged in skill of running a campaign and she is disadvantaged as far as her optics as a president.

Well the best way to do it would be to have a big coronation crowning her as president of the united states. That would make an absolutely huge massive difference. The story would stop being about her past but become being about her future. People would get used to saying president harris thinking of her that way already. As long as nothing actually bad happened and she could make a few good things happen like perhaps slightly lowering interest rates she would actually have a track record of her own to fall back on that she could point to positively.

She might win otherwise but her chances are low. This would make her chances very high.

Virtually everyone that knows her and is willing to speak candidly agrees that in person she is a complete and utter biatch.

I don't think it's worth pointing out her laugh. I think the laugh tends to speak for itself. We saw this during the presidential run in 2020 before she quit. Honestly if trump just shuts up and lets the focus be on her he wins the election
