  2. Political correctness erodes society. Merit should trump "virtue". Merit over identity is the backbone of liberalism and liberal democracy, of MLK's philosophy. Society has become far too soft. Everyone's feelings are hurt. We need to stop giving everyone's feelings so much attention. Good intentions but bad results. Truth > feelings.

  4. If this were the other way around, it would be non-stop 24/7 wall to wall media coverage about how Republicans have caused this environment with all their hateful rhetoric... but since it is Trump... Like, gee, maybe you shouldn't tell everyone that Trump is literally Hitler and if he wins this election it will literally be rounding people up and killing them... Nah... since it is Democrats pushing that garbage, very little will be said.

  5. So your proof that Trump tried to take over the government is a memo that wasn't used, a speech that told people to march peacefully and patriotically and alternate electors that have been used dozens of times before, including JFK. Your lies are so pervasive that you don't even know what reality is.

  7. There is a place for women in policing and the military. For the most part, these are not overly physically demanding jobs for anyone reasonably fit. Except for that small number of times when they absolutely ARE. And those tend to be the most critical times. Very, very few women are up to the task there due to simple, undeniable physical and biological limitations on them set by nature. And given few women even bother to apply, the DEI effort to get the number up as high as possible leads to people getting taken on and promoted far beyond their abilities and experience. We see that in other occupations, too, like politics, like our federal cabinet, for one.

  8. Left wing talking points? His previous secretary of defense, Mark Esper said he was a threat to democracy, wanted to send troops into the streets to quell demonstrations and riots and wanted to recall retired officers who criticized him to active service so they could be court-martialled. Other White house aides have also said he's a threat to democracy, like Alyssa Griffin, who said “I saw the actual executive order at the end of the last administration, ready to go, that would remake every civil servant into a political appointee and a loyalist to Trump,”. Another White House aide, Cassidy Hutchison said "I think that Donald Trump is the most grave threat we will face to our democracy in our lifetime, and potentially in American history.”His former Chief of Staff, John Kelly said Trump admires autocrats and dictators and has nothing but contempt for democratic institutions, the constitution, and the law. His former Attorney General said Trump will bring only chaos and that he shouldn't be anywhere near the White House. His other defense secretary said "Trump is the first president president in my lifetime who doesn't try to unite the American people, does not even pretend to try. Instead he divides us." His first secretary of state said “(Trump’s) understanding of global events, his understanding of global history, his understanding of US history was really limited. It’s really hard to have a conversation with someone who doesn’t even understand the concept for why we’re talking about this.” His National Security Advisor said “We saw the absence of leadership, really anti-leadership, and what that can do to our country.” These are not the Left wing speaking.

  9. Maybe Trump shouldn't talk about becoming a dictator and putting people in jail, including the media that criticize him, and he and his team shouldn't plan how they'll fire all the neutral public servants and military and federal police and hire only those 'loyal' to Trump, hmm?

  12. Rahim Mohamed: The attempt on Trump's life has made his re-election all but inevitable If the results of November’s presidential election weren’t already a foregone conclusion, they are now Published Jul 14, 2024 Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump looks to be OK after a bullet grazed his ear on Saturday evening, in a failed attempt on his life at a campaign rally in Butler, Pa. Trump, who was already reportedly expecting a landslide victory in November before the dramatic turn of events on Saturday, can now go ahead and start measuring the drapes in preparation for his near-inevitable return to the White House. It’s a done deal, folks. Especially after a photographer at the scene captured a perfectly timed photo of a bloodied Trump raising a fist in defiance while being swarmed by Secret Service agents, somehow standing almost directly under an American flag. It’s an image that will no doubt go down in the annals of history, and one that’s likely to snuff out any remaining hope the Democrats had of keeping Trump from recapturing the presidency. A live shot of the scene caught Trump telling members of his security detail to “wait” before pumping his fist in the air and mouthing the words “fight, fight, fight” to the stunned crowd of supporters. Even people who weren’t fans of Trump beforehand had to be impressed by his grace under literal gunfire. As of this writing, little information has been made public about the shooter. An eyewitness told BBC News that he saw a man armed with a rifle scale a rooftop near the venue while Trump was speaking. The witness claimed the would-be assassin was killed by the Secret Service after opening fire on the crowd. Now juxtapose Trump’s public display of vigour and bravery in the face of a near-death experience with President Joe Biden’s outward feebleness, which looks to only be getting worse as the campaign heats up. Saturday’s events merely solidified the already pervasive campaign narrative, further highlighting the contrast between Trump’s vigour and Biden’s torpor. At this point, it’s doubtful that even swapping Biden out for a stronger candidate can salvage the Democratic party’s chances of holding onto the White House. Trump, who’s shrugged off the myriad obstacles that have been tossed in his way, has now shown himself to be bulletproof — literally. If the results of November’s presidential election weren’t already a foregone conclusion, they are now. Donald Trump will be the 47th president of the United States and just the second president in history, following Grover Cleveland, to serve non-consecutive terms. The election’s outcome has been sealed with a bullet. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/the-attempt-on-trumps-life-has-made-his-re-election-all-but-inevitable

  17. I've flown UAVs while deployed, very capable, enjoyed the experience, the technology is cool and there's no doubt that having them saved Canadian lives in Afghanistan. Even so, I have this ingrained and lingering "old guy" fear that over reliance on technology creates vulnerabilities and the more you rely on the technology the more you have to account for those vulnerabilities. I've seen the effect of not doing that over and over again. It even applies to everyday life, cut a fibre optic cable by accident and the fallout can be significant. No internet, no 911, no cell service, no banking, no scanning items at the grocery store, no flights other than self dispatch (and airlines don't do that), no gas, etc etc. Huge regional impact right down to traffic lights during rush hour. If the mission computer fails during a critical ASW event now what? Old timers practice this stuff regularly and when they do, young guys on the crew usually roll their eyes. Things like plotting boards and using smoke markers as a visual references sometimes saves the day. If you drop an electrical bus and all you have is INS an immediate switch to maps and lat/ long is easy if you've practiced it. Not so easy if you haven't. The scenarios are endless, I could write a book on degraded ops and ruin your whole day on a check ride... so, while it needs to be practiced, there's no need to be crazy about it. That said, defence in depth is more than just words. The HUD's a great thing, HUD cripples aren't. Sometimes a hand on the stick, one on the throttle, feet on the rudder pedals, lining the target up between your legs and putting grease pencil marks on the canopy wins the day... some here might be surprised at how often it proves true. One thing seems to be a constant though, it's only guys with grey hair that carry grease pencils. Watch for them, if nothing else, the reason they do is sure to be entertaining.

  18. They are already complaining on the CBC that Republicans are politicizing this and that Trump could be a martyr. 19. If it were the other way around MAGA would be telling us it’s a false flag conspiracy. Every political party on earth has fringe hateful extremists but the Republican party has made hateful extremism mainstream This attack doesn’t change that fact. Nor does it change the fact that the heightened tension that has only escalated since Trump first entered the picture in has been primarily driven by Republicans. “Always dial it up to 11” has the been standard MAGA M.O. Would this shooter still have done what he did in a different climate? Maybe. Maybe not. Anyway Trump seems to now have his Reichstag Fire moment, regardless of whether the attack was real (as it seems to be so far) it will be used as justification for previously unthinkable actions by Republicans in the future. Just you wait.

  22. Just click the link you posted and click 'property features'. Honestly, man, if you thought a place like that in midtown would go for $315k you don't know anything about property costs in New York. I couldn't even buy a place like that in Ottawa for $315k As for COOPs, I believe it means you own a share of the property but not the property itself. And to repeat, this guy represents Canada and will need a place for entertaining. Which means it has to be central, not out in the boondocks of the Bronx or Queens. Entertaining is one of the main things diplomats do. They entertain, and exchange gossip and talk about deals and problems over wine and dinner. More is accomplished at dinner parties than over a boardroom table. And remember, we own the place. It's not like we can't just resell it at some point and get the money and a profit back,

  23. Not black people, stupid/gullible SJW's. If you wanted to assassinate a politician, getting invites to local events and updates on the locations of rallies, etc would be beneficial. And he clearly wanted to assassinate a Republican. Just remember, that 20 yr old was only 13 when the leftist "elites" were openly talking about assassinating Trump and the Dems were lending their tacit approval. I mean that it's quite a big deal for the FBI to get caught committing crimes and constantly lying and then setting up kidnapping plots where they get busted for entrapment and lying to social media to protect Biden, retrieve missing diaries etc, and after all that, Trump was still expected to win the 2024 election. What more could the FBI do to prevent Trump from winning? Now keep in mind that a 20 yr old geek managed to find a rooftop that basically had "PLACE SNIPER FOR TRUMP'S RALLY HERE" written on it which was somehow unprotected... There weren't 4 such rooftops, or 157 of them, there was just one, and it was unguarded. There are incomprehensible failures in at least 4 separate groups of people to allow that kid to get up there: Security planners: Somehow the best-trained security advisers and planners on earth failed to identify the most blatant spot within 600 yards for that sniper to camp out. It's like if there was a bell-tower across the street and no one bothered to look there. Snipers: Snipers themselves should have identified that spot as a prime location, yet they were somehow oblivious. And we know that they had line-of-sight on it because it only took a few seconds from the assassin's first shot until the SS personnel around Trump passed on the message: "The shooter is down". Snipers didn't run somehwere nearby and squeeze off a perfect shot and then get that message relayed in just a few seconds. Whoever fired the shot that killed the would-be assassin did it from the exact spot that they were in when the first shot was fired. Book it. Drone teams: Of course there were several drones flying above. Hopefully not reapers armed with hellfires and chain-guns, but at the very least drones with powerful visual and infrared capabilities looking for threats in key locations. Eye-witness accounts say that the shooter was there for 2-4 minutes, and authorities right at that location were notified. No one got anything done about it. On-ground personnel: The area was teeming with various paramilitary personnel and K-9 units, all with higher-than-usual stop and search authorization, but a 20 yr-old dweeb managed to wander to that building and up the side and camp out there for 2 minutes plus and then fire off 5 to 8 shots.... If there was a mayoral candidate for a top-20 city in the US holding a rally in that location, you couldn't get a sniper on the roof of that building without some kind of help from the inside. There's not even a 1% chance that guy was a lone wolf. He had help from either law enforcement or someone who worked in that building, but it it was the latter, they couldn't guarantee him a 2-4 minute window to get off a shot. This was just a mind-boggling failure of the highest order from dozens of people, in unison.

  24. For sure. And they know it. There was no possible scenario where democracy ended or even hiccuped as a result of jan6. There was no threat to democracy at all from that event. And if you ask them to explain the path that they thing might have lead to the downfall of democracy... they can't. Because it doesnt' exists Which is the same problem they're running into now saying that trump will end democracy. HOW? How does that work? Walk me through that process where trump becomes president and says 'that's the end of democracy" and everyone just says 'ok, well that's too bad" and goes along with it ANd they can't. It's a complete joke.

  26. one thing you used to be able to rely on, was that the Secret Service was the gold standard of protective details yet in this attempted assassination of Trump, they present as being amateur hour the building just a few hundred yards from the President being the most obvious sniper overlook and yet not only do they have no agents securing that building particularly on the roof they don't even notice when a sniper with an AR15 climbs up there and starts moving into position to shoot he only gets spotted by the citizens in the crowd, who start desperately trying to point him out to the Secret Service and still they don't react, with the shooter actually getting multiple aimed shots off, furthermore they then botch the evacuation of the President since by the standards of the Secret Service of yore he should have been grabbed and rushed to the armoured limousine in seconds instead they are sitting there in the kill zone for minutes after even knowing how all the institutions are collapsing under the weight of a Communist revolution this debacle is still shockingly inept, to the point where one might suspect collusion to get Trump assassinated somehow

  34. The first priority is always to get control over the narrative. Not the truth, but the narrative. Usually the truth needs to be buried so deep that only conspiracy theorists are wiling to dig it up. Why was the Secret Service so inept? It turns out that President Trump's Secret Service detail was not the full presidential package. His team had asked repeatedly for the increased protection, but it had been denied by either the director of the Secret Service, or underlings in the Biden Administration directly. Either way, it's pretty obvious that the team covering Trump was not large enough for the venue.

  38. Yes off the Canadian coast. Does this ring a bell? Strait of Juan de Fuca laser incident On 4 April 1997, a Canadian Armed Forces helicopter was allegedly illuminated by a laser while observing the Russian merchant ship and suspected spy vessel Kapitan Man, which was in the Strait of Juan de Fuca in U.S. territorial waters near Port Angeles, Washington. The Canadian Air Force pilot and the U.S. Navy passenger, who was taking photographs of the ship, reportedly suffered eye pain and injuries consistent with laser exposure. … Responding to a request based on previous suspicious activity of the Kapitan Man, the Canadian Forcesdispatched a CH-124 helicopter to fly by the ship and take photographs of it and its abnormal aerial antenna structure, which was indicative of a ship that could be conducting ELINT or SIGINT activities. The U.S. Coast Guard had previously confiscated submarine surveillance equipment from the ship in 1993.[1] At the time of the incident, the Kapitan Manwas 5 nautical miles (9 km; 6 mi) north of Port Angeles, Washington i.e. inside U.S. territorial waters.[2] On board the aircraft were U.S. NavyLieutenant Jack Daly and Canadian Forces pilot Captain Patrick Barnes. Lt. Daly was the Navy's foreign-intelligenceliaison officer in Esquimalt, British Columbia, heading a joint U.S.-Canadian helicopter-surveillance operation against Russian, Chinese, and other spy shipsoperating in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, which separates the Canadian province of British Columbia from the U.S. state of Washington, and in Puget Sound, the site of major U.S. nuclear ballistic missile submarine and aircraft carrier bases with the Royal Canadian Navy Pacific Fleet Headquarters in Esquimalt Harbour near Victoria, B.C. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strait_of_Juan_de_Fuca_laser_incident Also don’t forget this one Canadian military found Chinese monitoring buoys in the Arctic The Canadian military found and retrieved Chinese monitoring buoys in the Arctic this past fall, a development whose public exposure adds another item to a list of pressing concerns about Beijing’s interventions in Canadian affairs, including interference in recent federal elections. The buoys were spotted by the Canadian Armed Forces as part of Operation Limpid, a continuing effort to provide early detection of threats to Canada’s security. .. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-canadian-military-found-chinese-monitoring-buoys-in-the-arctic/ Look regardless of whether the subs are manned or unmanned clearly there’s a use for them But they can’t be fully replaced by other systems. An existential defensive battle for survival against a genocidal opponent is by its nature very different than a aggressive war of choice for the sake of a crooked leader's vanity. They were clumsy mistakes in the early stages of the war, committed by bad/inexperienced officers that wasted finite manpower and resources, and accomplished little.
