I'm skeptical because of what he has publicly stated before. And Bill C-69 is still in effect. Search Assist Mark Carney has stated that "as much as half of oil reserves, proven oil reserves need to stay in the ground" to meet climate goals. This reflects his stance on the need for significant reductions in fossil fuel use to combat climate change. He's not Elizabeth May in disguise. Carney is motivated primarily by greed at the end of the day. He doesn't like Canadian oil but he's fine with foreign pipelines. Constantly harping on and on about net zero, but has no issue with deforestation in Brazil. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-63681617 https://www.westernstandard.news/news/hypocrite-climate-carneys-firm-sold-deforestation-linked-farms-in-brazil/629674 points

People get tired of our funeral director in chief flying all over the world and making grandiose promises as the economy deteriorates, food costs skyrocket, foreign investment continues to diminish, ethnic mobs take over the streets, crime makes people fearful of leaving their homes, and nothing whatsoever seems to be getting done to change any of that other than massive deficits for Canada and massive profits for Brookfield.3 points

My predictions. How about yours? - Avi Lewis wins the NDP leadership. Three weeks later all the other NDP MP's cross the floor to the Liberals. - PeePee gets 51% in leadership review, claims 'Landslide Victory', gets his staff busy writing more slogans. - Donald Trump has massive stroke. No one notices. Has his caddy play for him while he naps in the cart, before waking to claim victory. - Linsey Graham suffocates when his head gets permanently stuck in Trump's ass. - Canada, Mexico and US spend 10 months negotiating a new trade deal. Two hours before signing Trump chokes on a Big Mac, cancels the deal, and puts a 200% tariff on burger buns. - Wab Kinew forgets to smile at press conference. - Danielle Smith uses 'Notwithstanding' clause 26 times, throws down gauntlet to Francois Legault: "Let's see what you got." - Putin says he wants peace. Keeps blowin' up stuff anyway. - Netenyahoo says he wants peace. Keeps blowin' up stuff anyway. - Trump says he wants peace prize. Keeps blowin' up stuff anyway. - Canadian Premiers all say they want to end trade barriers in Canada, then claim dozens of exceptions. - Carney repeats "Canada has the best deal". Trump raises tariffs. - Democrats find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. - All economic and political problems continue to be Trudeau's, Biden's or Obama's. - I continue to be poor, but somehow still eat very well.2 points

They support Maduro, who ignored an election, ran drugs, stole resources and brutally enforced his will. They supported Hamas that raped women, killed mean, women and children and used their own children as human shields and suicide bombers while suppressing women and killing people that are gay. They support China who released COVID on the world, killed people for not getting COVID shots or just for getting COVID, enslaved the Uyghurs, and emit more toxic fumes than the rest of the world combined. Yet they claim to be about democracy, women's rights, freedom of religion, and anti-slavery. It is weird how they do all the stuff they claim to be against.2 points

He said it was the leading cause of death. That is a lie. The top three in 2023 were cancer (84,629), heart disease (57,890), and accidents (20,597) In 2023, there were 326,215 deaths in Canada, of which 15,343 were MAID deaths. That works out to be 4.7%, not 20% And there you are again spouting stuff without any cite. I don't see a reason to pay any attention to anything you say when you can't bother citing your source. Besides, individual anecdotes do not discredit the program2 points

In George Orwell’s 1984, the author envisaged a world carved up between three superpowers, Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia. What we find in the story: Officially the three superpowers were permanently at war, with all three constantly forming new alliances, and breaking them, and changing sides. But in reality, as Big Brother’s representative O’Brien finally explains to Winston Smith, the ostensible war was a sham. Each and all the superpowers’ leaders were interested only in power and in personal aggrandisement; and they perceived, as despots have done throughout all history, that the easy the way to keep their own unruly populations in check was to be at war, or to be seen to be at war, so that the people felt obliged to unite against a common enemy. How prescient was Orwell in describing our modern-day reality, where these three powers – Trump’s USA, Putin’s Russia, and Xi Jinping’s China – vie for power? Will they work together to carve the world up into three spheres of power and influence – three sections of colonies controlled by the three super-powers? What does Trump mean in invoking the Monroe Doctrine as a “Trump Corollary” in a pledge of “potent restoration of American power and priorities” to the Western hemisphere? What does he mean when he says, “We’re going to run the place.” Trump has stated that he wants to take over Canada and Greenland. Now, he’s got Venezuela. Who is next? According to one analysis: Trump appears unperturbed by stronger Chinese and Russian spheres of influence – as long as he has a domain to match Xi Jinping’s and Vladimir Putin’s. Does Trump want the entire Western hemisphere?1 point

To start, I actually agree with this sentiment and think the whole First Nations situation and how it gets handled is a joke, particularly when it comes to financial accountability. That being said, financial statements etc. are something that I look at regularly for a living, and without context a single entry tells us almost nothing. Without a good look at cashflow and income statements and a comparison to liabilities (especially current but also future) we can't really determine anything. A big-looking cash position might not be that big if it only covers a year or so of expenses. If it's a recent windfall, it might take years to figure out and get agreement on what to do with it, and there may be restrictions on how it can be used/invested. It might already be earmarked for a large capital project that's awaiting approval. There's an endless list of explanations and without actually diving in it's hard to say. I know you said you included links to all of the data, but I doubt anyone's going to take you up on that offer (not me at least). This is more just a general comment that you're presenting less than half of the information you'd need to make any sort of judgment. Again though, in a lot of cases I suspect you'd be right in the overall argument.1 point

Its hilarious. They keep crying about the law, the law, the law, we must respect the law! Meanwhile, Maduro was an illegitimate leader who ruled through brute force over his people, ran sanctioned oil for the black market, worked with narco terrorists... they certainly did not give two shits about all those laws.1 point

George Orwell saw it. He also warned if we didn't want this we just had to prevent it from happening. George Ohwell would have been a more appropriate name. I suspect guys like Einstein would be doing facepalms if they could see how the future is unfolding - trying the same old thing, imperialism, and expecting a different result.1 point

So you agree with Maduro, then? That the ONLY reason the Americans did what they did was to take control of Venezuela's oil? I agree that is part of it (oil reserves), even a large part. But there are a lot of other reasons, too. It's no coincidence that the Chinese were nearby when this happened. Are you okay with the Chinese taking over Venezuela's oil? I assume you are, because you also think China is Canada's best buddy. It's very odd to me how much your ideas align with China's. You support both Canada and Venezuela being run by China and don't seem to understand why the US would not want Communist China in our hemisphere. I was thinking up til now that you are a radical left Liberal, but now I'm wondering if you're actually socialist/communist? Your ideas certainly lean very far towards socialism/communism and you support those regimes and oppose democracies.1 point

I'm gonna give you props for trying robo, but FYI regardless of whether or not the US Congress approved something doesn't make it legal in international law. At the end of the day, the US still invaded a sovereign country and killed a foreign citizen - Osama Bin Laden. In this instance, they just arrested someone. Silly little boy. As commander in chief, Trump has the same authority authority to engage in acts of war that congress does, it just requires congressional approval after a period of 60-90 days: under the War Powers Resolution, the president can commit U.S. forces to military action for up to 60 days without congressional authorization, followed by a 30-day withdrawal period, making a total of 90 days without explicit approval. The president committed his forces to military action legally: FYI he's not limited to "killed a minimum of 3,000 people" as a reason to start a war. It was 100% as legitimate as the action taken against Bin Laden So you're admitting that Maduro is a narco-trafficker, and that he ships drugs to the USA. Thanks for that. Give yourself credit for telling the truth for once. This is a red-letter day for you. The good news is: the guy that you consider a narco-trafficker was taken into custody during a legitimate military operation, and now a Democrat judge has the option to set him free. 🥳1 point

If he ever becomes one sure. Defending Your Homeland against an aggressor who attacked without warning and slotted your civilians is not mass murder no matter how much the left wishes it wasn't true. You want to blame someone for the death of civilians and children in Gaza then you need look no further than Hamas.1 point

This feels weird but, I have to agree...somewhat...with @Radiorum in this case. Gawd...am I getting sick? 🤪 But it's rational. The USA and NATO are not in a position to "beat" Russia in Ukraine for a number of reasons. US hegemony is waning. However, resolving these issues with trade wars or even real wars, is irrational. No...the rational move is to divey up the globe into 3 distinct spheres of influence. The chink in the chain will be Africa. What to do with Africa...I dont know.1 point

If Venezuela's top opposition party member, being a Nobel Prize winner, thinks of this as a move to help Venezuelans, who are Anderson Cooper and Beave to say otherwise? Trump just pulled off a nearly bloodless coup, ousting a violent dictator and purging a downtrodden country of it's despotic leader. Of course left4rds are gonna get pissy, because they would hate the cure for childhood cancers if Trump created it, but this is not a negative development for Venezuelans, and that's the main consideration here. The benefit to the rest of the Americas is also obvious to those of us who don't wear CNN-coloured blinders.1 point

What most people don't realize, including Venezuelans themselves, is that the sanctions imposed caused as much of their suffering as Maduro did by depriving their country of revenue. Which in theory would cause them to rise up and overthrow him themselves, which is the proper democratic way. And could've been done by funding the democratic opposition even openly. The fact Donnie Diaperboy barely mentioned democracy, belittled the leader of their opposition and instantly bragged how they'd run the country, take it's resources and decide when they can vote shows clearly his intent. That the people should not make the rules for businesses anywhere, not even in the USA itself, is the cleat message. IOW: Only the Ferenbi can write the Rules of Acquisition and everyone everywhere must obey.1 point

PP says governments should do the things that people are unable to do themselves. Does that include the government telling people what the government's job and duties are? I'm pretty sure that's our Constitutions job but our politicians and their party's act as if it's their's. The Constitution doesn't even contain the word politics never mind politicians or political parties. It's surreal.1 point
