  1. I'd like to know what PP supporters think he'd have done differently to avoid these tariff threats. I think Trump and team are begging for rates to be cut ASAP because he knows price increases are imminent. So at least he can point to something he's done to lower prices.

  2. To the OP. If the Big Three are brow-beaten into moving all automotive production to the US, destroying the Canadian and Mexican industries, that will give China path to dominate the Canadian market. China are creating EVs that are cheap, can charge fast and have the features North Americans want. Right now it's only tariffs that are keeping them from getting a foothold in Canada.

  3. YOU think deporting illegal immigrants is a shit show, we do not. This is going great. Record-low border crossings. ICE is actually doing its job. If Democrats would stop obstructing, it would go far smoother.

  4. "Washington DC, July 1, 2025 — On July 1, the U.S. Senate passed a budget reconciliation bill that includes an unprecedented allocation of funds for immigration detention and enforcement while simultaneously stripping healthcare from millions of Americans." Well for f*cks sake. Don't you dipshits think you should've thought of that before you flung the border wide open? https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/press-release/congress-approves-unprecedented-funding-mass-detention-deportation-2025/

  8. LMAO now who is lying? PP is not a “world renowned politician” what a joke He’s an UNKNOWN domestic politician, a NOBODY. How on earth would he be world renowned when he has zero accomplishments to his name, only been opposition leader for a hot minute and was junior member of a government that was voted out a decade ago? Has he even been outside of Canada on any official business? What a ridiculous statement, just shows your absolute delusion. That’s a lie Of course he did, he says that about a lot of people . But any thinking person can see that wasn’t his intention. LMAO you have to be 27 different flavours (nice American spelling by the way) of stupid NOT to see that. Omg please stop I am laughing so hard the opposite-of-reality commentary coming from you is just absolutely hilarious. I’ve called out before how you like to pretend things that are 99% identical are completely different and things that 0.01% remotely similar are identical just suit your political agenda. PP s entire election and party leadership campaigns were a rip off of Trump slogans and policies from hyping crypto to reversing the ban on plastic straws to pledging “anti-woke” and “anti-DEI” crusades to his “Canada First” slogan to having policies “in sync” with Trump. No twisting required. Carney is exactly like Trump because he signed a document in front of cameras LMAO ok pal sure that’s not twisting things. Just Hilarious.

  9. No you’re lying. As a point of fact he never said he “wanted Carney in.“. That’s an outright lie from you. First the public started mocking Trump after be cost Poilievre what had been a guaranteed win. The media reported it as an “own goal”. Then AFTER THE FACT when questioned by the media he basically said “Uh I did that purpose.” Because of course what else would he say? He’s a compulsive liar who never admits his mistakes. Literally the ENTIRETY of your argument is 100% based on taking Trump at his word and dismissing all other facts and reality. It’s ridiculous. LOL you’re way too partisan and biased see anything clearly and fairly You see what you want to see, and you incapable of an impartial assessment You are not even able to articulate what a “good deal “ would be are you? LMAO nope that’s the definition of MAGAs who are literally destroying the global economy for no other reason than to obey their orange master. And up here you’re using any opportunity to sow division because your guy didn’t win the election

  10. Here is an example of where our justice system fails Canadians, he has been caught 5 times for DUI, has a lifetime ban on driving...this time he puts a young person in the hospital with serious injuries and is released the next morning....i mean WTF....he is being charged for DUI....for the 5 th time, he was charged with driving a car when banned...and the justice system grants him bail the next morning....If the judge could not see that this individual is a danger to himself and others, perhaps he should be asked to step down, and this guy locked up, have his car sold at auction...we need to do better... 11. Delegates at the United Church of Christ’s (UCC) 35th General Synod overwhelmingly passed an emergency resolution this week, condemning the ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids as “domestic terrorism” and accusing President Donald Trump's administration of “weaponizing the Constitution.” Religious News Service reported Tuesday that the resolution targets immigration enforcement operations “carried out by ICE agents working without uniforms, wearing masks or refusing to identify themselves,” condemning these tactics as threatening and abusive. Titled “Responding to the federal government’s attack on immigrants, migrants, and refugees,” the resolution urges the church to divest from for-profit private detention firms, specifically naming CoreCivic, GEO Group, and Management and Training Corp.— while allowing congregations to go further if they choose, according to the report. 12. Actually, you're the one doing a great job playing dumb here. Why are you so unsettled about this... You thinking something might be there that could further stain the orange felon's reputation and credibility? Sure would be a kick in the shorts given he's the one who did more than anyone to perpetuate the conspiracy... Again, as far as me pushing, not needed, your Maga cult is doing that. It's part of your news and the Canadian news so not much of a secret....

  13. If memory serves, part of hunters "employment" was to provide situational assessments to Ukraine... the very sort of assessments found on the laptop. The chain of custody (continuity of evidence) isn't a factor for me personally because I'm only interest in the tactics behind the effort to deceive as opposed to prosecution. In order to accept your theory that lack of continuity was causal as opposed to being an evidentiary roadblock, I'd have to accept that the assessments (written in the manner that they were), actually got planted in the laptop for political gain. I'm more inclined to believe he provided them as a condition of his employment to actually do so. If you have evidence to the contrary I stand ready to peruse it. On the other hand, the document signed by 51 analysts and repeated dozens of times a day by the media is a classic example of deliberate disinformation (with a predictable escape valve) in it's own right... regardless of whether the evidence was corrupted or not. It's exactly the sort of war room rebuttal I would have issued too and I'd have done that regardless of the computers actual authenticity. People needed to believe it was a Russian hoax perpetrated by Russia because they supported Trump. An easy sell since most cool aid consumers believe Trump is a Russian asset anyway.

  18. OMG Glorious Yank as much a braggart bullshitter as his President. Canada is so uncompetitive they have to throw 19th Century tariffs on us to protect their own industry. Those same industry that realized domestic production was uncompetitive decades ago and farmed it out in the first place. Gee sounds like someone else is the financial 1diot dreaming about the glories of yesteryear. Oh boy, maybe Rambler, RCA and Marconi and dial landline phones will be back!

  20. Honey? Please enumerate your beneficence to Canada. If it wasn’t for the oil we sell you at a discount to give jobs and money to your Texas refineries, we would have a trade deficit with you. Thanks for the kind gesture of your 35% tariffs to offset this supposed advantage that we have.

  28. The number of falsehoods Trump managed to cram into a yarn about his uncle John Trump and Unabomber Ted Kaczynski is impressive even by his lofty standards. What a bizarre ramble, the sort of thing you might half hear from grandad in the nursing home. Nearly all politicians make factual errors but he’s talking about a close relative and has manufactured a conversation that could never have happened. Something that may have triggered this nonsense - the false allegation that Epstein and Kazcynski were at camp together. Jeff is on the Trump noggin a lot these days. Now he finds himself in the arena facing America’s Id, a monster he nurtured for years.

  37. Nope. You have NO EVIDENCE "story was right all along," because you know NOTHING about how to check whether the disk was tampered with. Do you even know what "chain of custody" for evidence means? LMAO Many years ago, I was retained (volunteer) by Kevin Mitnick's defense team to tell the FBI how they screwed up their handling of Mitnick's laptop. I met with an agent at the LA Federal building (same one in news today about "riots"). After the meeting, Mitnick got off with a slap on the wrist because the FBI bungled the handling of the evidence.

  39. Such as it is. "muddle through" ... just as our ability to assess "our" state of the nation evolves and settles in to a world where every citizen is a commenter. How poor "we" will be will have a different relationship to our happiness, in the end. After all, poor in 2025 isn't the same as poor in 1975. In some ways, it's very much wealthier, in other ways poorer.

  42. Yeah and? You’re misrepresenting that to claim he said he would force Trump to abandon all tariffs without making any concessions in return, which he never said. False on 2 counts. He said he would end federal barriers to trade by July 1 and he did. That bill was passed on June 20. Several provinces have signed agreements with each other to remove provincial barriers and most others are actively working towards it. But it’s not like waving a magic wand where they all just disappear overnight. The “anti-pipeline” bill you’re referring to doesn’t need to be removed because the One Canada bill passed in June with vocal support from Poilievre and conservatives gives cabinet the power to ignore any element of it. And federal/provincial governments are not just waiting and hoping for someone to out forward plans, they’re out there working industry on plans to bring forward. Canada has fared better than most countries actually. We weren’t hit with any “liberation day” tariffs, the steel, aluminum copper and auto tariffs apply to the entire world, and the only tariffs specifically applicable to Canada, the so-called fentanyl tariffs are reduced to only to non-CUSMA compliant trade which is only a small fraction of our trade (~15% according to some) and will only get smaller as a lot of that trade actually IS CUSMA compliant but exporters/importers don’t bother to fill out the paperwork. Yeah Axworthy wants him to be more scrappy but that’s easy to say from the sidelines when it’s not your skin in the game. With hundreds of billions of dollars in trade at stake, Carney has to show industry he’s making a good faith effort to be the adult in the room and negotiate, even if everyone knows in the end it may be mostly pointless against such an unstable nihilist. He may only be able to make a difference at the margins but with so much at stake even small differences matter. No he didn’t. This is true, but to my earlier comments about showing good faith effort knowing success would be limited to marginal improvement at best There are no lies or “obvious incompetence” and the nobody is playing partisan politics even PP is watching his tongue for a change. Any damage done to this economy is done by the malign actor, Trump. Let’s make that clear. At this early stage we still have to go through the act of negotiating in good faith as everyone else is doing UK, EU, Australia, Japan, etc. We may shave a couple points off a tariff here or there or get TACO Trump to push the deadlines back again. But as every intelligent adult knows no matter who is PM or what they do, the end will only come when Americans start demanding an end to the tariffs and Canada has pivoted away from USA. US midterms are only 15 months away, Trump’s tariffs by executive order are technically illegal and in violation of Congress insofar as they violate trade agreements ratified by congress like USMCA. Congress not the president has sole authority to regulate trade and impose tariffs but slime-ball Republicans control congress and House Speaker Mike Johnson has sole authority to decide the legislative agenda and refuses to out tariffs on the agenda. We will see how that works out for Republicans next year, they might have to dust off their “the election was stolen” lies when all the Americans they’ve screwed over vote them out.
