Conservatives used to love this label. Now they flipped and love that PP is a career politician since he was a little boy and hate Carney’s private sector experience and economic expertise. How did that happen?2 points

With the search function disabled on this forum some of you seem to know your old posts won’t be brought to light We are talking about what Trump said, nobody cares what you said. Oath Keepers trial highlights the right's obsession with finding cheat codes for real life https://www.salon.com/2022/10/05/oath-keepers-trial-highlights-the-rights-obsession-with-finding-cheat-codes-for-real-life/ But the MAGA movement has a cultural obsession with it. That’s because a significant percentage of them are chronic underachievers: 40 yr old virgins, high school dropouts, and so on….people who constantly look for shortcuts in life and blame others for their lack of success. Look at Trump’s cabinet, never in history has a presidential administration had so many unqualified hacks in it. Usually the people who walk those halls come from the highest levels of the private and public sector with impressive education and experience. Trump’s group is all kooks and dingbats of little to no accomplishments other than kissing Trumps ass. Cheat code! No, nobody has tried to run for a third term. Don’t confuse policies you personally don’t agree with a president trying to undermine the constitution to remain in power. Seriously student loans is what you come back with? As for this things you think Biden and Obama did that were overreach Trump is on track done far more and far worse in just the 2 months he’s been in office. For all the chest-beating and clothes tearing you did whenever Obama or Biden issued an executive order just remember Trump issued the most and his second term only just started amd of course suddenly republicans are quiet again Donald J. Trump signed 103 Executive orders in 2025. Joseph R. Biden, Jr., signed 162 Executive orders between 2021 and 2025. Donald J. Trump signed 220 Executive orders between 2017 and 2021. Barack Obama signed 277 Executive orders between 2009 and 2017. George W. Bush signed 291 Executive orders between 2001 and 2009.2 points

If he would've just gotten rid of Chiang, this would be over now. But it's just getting started. If I had been an undecided voter up til now, this situation would be the line in the sand for me. The Liberal Party is standing behind their candidate who called for his political rival to be turned into the China Consulate for the bounty. Carney claims it was "just a lapse in judgment." This is on the heels of Sam Cooper's revelations of Liberal Party involvement in the fentanyl crisis in Canada, the revealing of Carney's financial obligations to a Chinese bank worth billions of dollars, China being caught meddling in Freeland's leadership bid, and China executing 4 Canadian citizens recently. The reason for the bounty is that the man is accused by the CCP of having publicly criticized the regime. Now, I'm reminded of the Bills the Liberals brought in regarding jail sentences for online "misinformation". And the way they brought in riot police, tear gas, Stompy the horse and froze bank accounts and years-long lawfare against those citizens who challenged their political decisions. The Liberal agenda for Canada matches up perfectly with the Chinese agenda for their citizens. This is why they won't do anything about this disgusting situation.2 points

They just ensured 2 more Greens went Liberal. Daughter saw the latest CPC election ad and blew her stack at how they sunk into utter propaganda levels. He hubby agrees. No dummy, because there are more important issues than 100% party ideology at stake. They'll all vote NDP again but this time it's ABC. Better to get some of your policy followed than most of it retracted. Or is that too hard to understand?2 points

I've seen a few rumours on FB today that Carney has already decided to step down due to his litany of conflicts of interest. Even the CBC's Rosemary Barton couldn't ignore it, and she's a shoo-in for a Liberal senate seat the day she retires. "[As someone] who spent most of his life in the private sector, there's no possible conflict of interest in your assets?" Barton asked. "That's very difficult to believe." For someone like Barton, whose entire career stems her shameless hagiography of liberal candidates, that about-face makes Brute's back-stabbing look like a vote of confidence. I don't think it will make much of a difference to this election, the CBC will just pimp the next LPOC candidate that much harder. If he is really dropping out, I think it has more to do with his ability to keep his head above water in a debate than any conflicts of interest that he has... The RCMP and CBC can keep all of that under wraps for him.1 point

I'm more concerned about the harm PP will do pandering to the freak show that makes up so much of the base of his support.1 point

You’d be extolling the virtues of his business and economic experience and claiming he’s a great Conservative and not a career politician like the other bums. I would still be saying that he’s too conservative for my liking, just like now.1 point

Funny how a traitor, a supporter of the criminal rapist in the White House is lecturing on what is considered criminal. The main gripe seems to be that the carbon tax that was designed to reduce THEIR carbon emissions 'didn't work' because they purposely went out of their way not to and simply complained that it cost them more, just as the tax was designed to.1 point

So as of this morning, GasBuddy reported average gas prices had fallen THREE CENTS after the removal of 18¢ carbon tax. By noon it was A NICKEL. But here some are, justifying increases because the switchover to summer gas is coming up soon. Heading out soon to see if they fell to 148.9 here, otherwise I'll make sure it's top news on the local community FB group.1 point

Dogma of the right says govt can't run a popsicle stand. So if you're gullible enough to begin with that as a fact, you always reach the conclusion it fails at everything. Add in the govt is inherently corrupt dogma of populism, you don't need AI, just a simple flowchart to predict what sheeple of the right will claim.1 point

You will just become another dictatorship with a constitution no one believes in or follows. But you will still be a constitutional republic.1 point

Lots of so called constitutional republics have dictators. Both Cuba and North Korea are constitutional republics. You aren’t special. BTW both Russia and China fit the definition of constitutional republics.1 point

As it happens, I prefer PMs to be experienced MPs first but we’ve seen a complete shift in what Tories value. In this campaign they encourage suspicion of a successful executive with experience in foreign countries. Obviously, one tries to paint the other guy as badly as possible but who would have imagined such attack lines from our right-wing party a generation ago? And then there’s the Trump angle. Some Tories remain MAGA fans who loved the line that Trump ‘wasn’t a politician’ when he came down the escalator and dismissed any concerns about his literally criminal business empire. Yet now some of the same people claim to be ‘troubled’ by Carney’s Brookfield associations. It’s a strange world.1 point

No, we're looking to elect a highly qualified economic mind. More qualified than a CPC leader that's only qualified at being a political attack dog. Name a developed nation where birth rate and affordability isn't a major problem. The US just elected someone that's goal is to make affordability worse. And he's on the "Conservative" team. Building more homes to reduce prices creates another problem with homeowners that only really have the equity in their home to fall back on because the erosion of pensions and the ability for people to save. I get the hate on for the Liberals, JT was arrogant and stubborn. But he's gone now. I've actually been quite impressed with how the Liberal team is looking to handle the Trump threat. It's telling that the newly elected PC leader in Ontario, Dofo, is refusing to campaign for PP and is more happy to work with the Liberals.1 point

Signal is not approved for classified information. Don't be silly. Like a secure room, the secured systems don't let anyone in without proper credentials. That's why they exist. Unlike Signal, in which you can invite anyone in the world. Goldberg's responsibility as a journalist is to serve the public. He did not publish information that would harm a military operation. He published a story about the comically sloppy security in the Trump administration. The white house started lying and denying, so he published the chat. He had no other responsibility, legally or ethically. -- If Deep Throat mails a journalist a manilla envelope of secret info, the journalist is not obligated to burn it. To the contrary, their duty to the public typically means an obligation to break the story, taking care not to cause material harm. Sometimes the leak itself is the story--as in this case. And sorry, but no, he didn't "sell" the information any more than any act of journalism--and he didn't even do that until the WH Clown car told the world it wasn't classified. lol. He gave them exactly enough rope to hang themselves. The fools.1 point

Interpretation is ALWAYS open to further discussion. Facts DO NOT point to the same conclusions for everyone, and in fact the most common interpretation of the facts in science have very often proven to be wrong later. Newton was WAY off base but we believed his stuff for years. So it is 100 percent reasonable that two people would say "I interpret it this way" and another would say "i interpret it that way" and for those parties to discuss and debate and 'negotiate' on what they both can agree on and what actions would be wise to take that make sense in both scenarios. It displays your complete lack of understanding of science that you think that somehow a conclusion is absolute1 point

We told you specifically and explicitly he would try to seek a third term. You responded explicitly and specifically that would never happen because the constitution forbids it. Now you’re shifting to falsely claim there’s a “lawful” way to do it. To be clear: There is no way to lawfully serve a third term. He will just make up some silly claims and lie and say it’s perfectly constitutional when it’s clearly not and you gullible suckers will go along with it.1 point
-
FDR probably only confuses you. He served 4 terms BTW. But since his time, in fact BECAUSE of his time the constitution has been amended to limit presidents to 2 terms. But thanks for proving my point. You fascists don’t give a damn about the constitution you will support anything that keeps your people in power Thanks for proving you’re still a batshit conspiracy crank.1 point

This is a really good idea. Very original and something a lot of people can get on board with. It’s too bad the Conservative Party didn’t think of recommending that… repeatedly… for the last two years… in the House of Commons… so the Liberals could unanimously oppose it… repeatedly… in the House of Commons.1 point

I doubt it is legal if it's bribery. It's pathetic how emasculated and powerless Conservative parties seem to be in the face of corruption. Utterly useless when it comes to doing anything to prevent, investigate or prosecute it, especially white collar crime like this. Catch and release is the best they can do and even that seems like a real chore.1 point

I endorse your suggestion! Pass your suggestion onto PP. After all Trumpy Boy showed how you can win by being as objectionable and offending as many people as possible. Good luck.1 point

Obviously carney gave him something. I suspect it was basically "I can give you what you want if you reduce the pressure a little and make me look good during the election. after i win we can sort out the details. Is that ok with you Mr Trump? Sounds exactly like he always does when someone flatters him relentlessly and strokes his ego and promises to give him what he wants. Which means one of two things. Either carney intends to sell us out and give trump a bunch of concessions which will slowly cripple our economy but will allow him to personally benefit financially, or he has lied to trump and will not deliver when he becomes prime minister in which case you can bet trump is going to become furious and will retaliate against Canada. Kearney will pretend that he's shocked that trump who was behaving himself has suddenly for no reason whatsoever turned on Canada yet again but you know, that's trump. The election it's going to make a big difference in Canada's future for quite some time. Elections matter and this one is going to matter a great deal. Hopefully carney won't win. I myself still have trouble believing the polls are 100% accurate the way that they're presented and believe a Poilievre majority is still completely possible. But when you look at everything that's just happened in week one and remember that we've got four more to go with tariffs supposedly starting next week but who knows and trump is the wild card, there is just no way to predict how this is going to end1 point
