If you come from a major position in the private sector you’re likely to have some potential conflicts of interest, not bizarre Trumpy ones where you’re clearly trying to rip the whole country off but as a natural consequence of your previous work. If we want such people in politics we need to give them some leeway on this. Somebody even mentioned the use of tax havens. To this I would say, if something is legal and you don’t like it, campaign to get the law changed.2 points

Who would have thought that having an anti-american ideology, embracing mental instability, eliminating borders, driving up the cost of living and lowering the value of wages all while bringing us to the brink of WWIII, censoring citizens, arresting political enemies, sponsoring terrorists and denying the President had lost his shit when we could all see it would have ruined the brand?2 points

I've seen a few rumours on FB today that Carney has already decided to step down due to his litany of conflicts of interest. Even the CBC's Rosemary Barton couldn't ignore it, and she's a shoo-in for a Liberal senate seat the day she retires. "[As someone] who spent most of his life in the private sector, there's no possible conflict of interest in your assets?" Barton asked. "That's very difficult to believe." For someone like Barton, whose entire career stems her shameless hagiography of liberal candidates, that about-face makes Brute's back-stabbing look like a vote of confidence. I don't think it will make much of a difference to this election, the CBC will just pimp the next LPOC candidate that much harder. If he is really dropping out, I think it has more to do with his ability to keep his head above water in a debate than any conflicts of interest that he has... The RCMP and CBC can keep all of that under wraps for him.1 point

If you had two parties that shared the same views on things you happened to agree with on turning the country around.... then why not vote for the real deal?1 point

It absolutely is classified. That's not even a question. It's just a blatant lie that it wasn't, and frankly it's hard to imagine a more necessary classification than an impending military strike. You are not dumb enough to believe otherwise. Come on. I defy you to come up with any scenario in which the facts of a military operation can simultaneously be shared publicly and also depends on the (comically) lauded "OpSec." Yes, they did. They are absolutely lying about the information not being classified. Nobody believes them, but they don't really care anymore. Post-truth. Lol. Selling the information is literally selling the information. Journalists don't sell information, they publish it. As in to make public. The job is to serve the public, not protect the image of a party-boy pundit turned (shudder) Secretary of Defense. The public should be informed when officials f*ck up--and this was a massive f*uckup. As always, you're not pissed that Trumpco has done so many things wrong, you're mad at anyone who tries to hold them accountable for their own actions. Nothing is too much. You'll happily take it all. You don't seem to have a gag reflex. 🤷♂️1 point

This is going to be another gaffe Carney standing by candidate Paul Chiang, who suggested Conservative be turned over to China for bounty | CBC News Standing by someone who threatens the life of a political rival is just not a good look. It'll come up again and again and he will have no way of justifying doing that.1 point

Interpretation is ALWAYS open to further discussion. Facts DO NOT point to the same conclusions for everyone, and in fact the most common interpretation of the facts in science have very often proven to be wrong later. Newton was WAY off base but we believed his stuff for years. So it is 100 percent reasonable that two people would say "I interpret it this way" and another would say "i interpret it that way" and for those parties to discuss and debate and 'negotiate' on what they both can agree on and what actions would be wise to take that make sense in both scenarios. It displays your complete lack of understanding of science that you think that somehow a conclusion is absolute1 point

Not surprising at all. Their support is volatile. Here’s a candidate who should be canned. Joking about handing someone over to the CCP is not acceptable: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/liberal-paul-chiang-bounty-joe-tay-conservative-1.74967511 point

This is sooo tired, cliched and, well, dumb. Why does the Left think it's fine to say "You're not a real Canadian if you weren't born here five thousand years ago!" but at the same time say "The instant you get off a plane and get your passport you're a 100% Canadian and as good as anyone else born and raised here!" Because they're DUMB.1 point

I love it. The economy's in the shitter, and we have 30 million illegal aliens roaming the country as guests of the democrat party (all thanks to Biden), and all you diapered cultists can do is cry about a nothing burger. Well done, comrades, WELL done! lol1 point

That's why you light Teslas on fire and ship coal across the planet to burn it instead of burning it where it's mined. That's why your PM runs and hides when he sees bouncy castles, it's why Kamala and Biden didn't answer any questions for 4 years, it's why Biden has to pardon his son and your hero (Fauci), and it's why Trudeau doesn't even answer to the RCMP. Peace? Leftists are the biggest war-mongers in NA. The thought of ending the war in Ukraine drives you guys mental. Where did that bit of honesty come from? I woulda mistaken that for sarcasm if you didn't have a vax-Nazi swastika on your forehead. Nothing like a good victim back-story, hey? You give enough of it. When was the last time you told the truth about anything, eyeball? Just name one topic where you feel like your average was higher than 20%....1 point

Trump says he’s considering ways to serve a third term as president WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump said Sunday that “I’m not joking” about trying to serve a third term, the clearest indication he is considering ways to breach a constitutional barrier against continuing to lead the country after his second term ends at the beginning of 2029. “There are methods which you could do it,” Trump said in a telephone interview with NBC News from Mar-a-Lago, his private club. He elaborated later to reporters on Air Force One from Florida to Washington that “I have had more people ask me to have a third term, which in a way is a fourth term because the other election, the 2020 election was totally rigged.” Trump lost that election to Democrat Joe Biden. Still, Trump added: “I don’t want to talk about a third term now because no matter how you look at it, we’ve got a long time to go.” The 22nd Amendment, added to the Constitution in 1951 after President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected four times in a row, says “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” …. https://apnews.com/article/trump-third-term-constitution-22nd-amendment-efba31be02ee96b0ef68b17fe89b75781 point

It certainly is for that conservative sub-culture that cleaves towards Trump - the most solid third or more of Pierre Poilievre's supporters. Poilievre is stuck between a frustrated and a stupid place as evidenced by the apparent schism developing in his party. Between those who want more focus on Trump as the election issue then the issues he's been grooming himself and his party to campaign on for the last two years. Poilievre risks alienating the most solid part of his base by distancing himself from Trump. He's doubly screwed by also having to get rational voters to believe he means it. As for the fùck the liberals fixture of conservative culture...the split developing within the Conservative Party between by rational conservatives and the nutbars is no where near as bad as the one that's all but destroyed the old in the GOP.1 point

So your assumption is that I sat at my computer for "days" finding the quote you said that didn't exist, rather than that like most functioning adults, I don't spend my whole day arguing with people on the internet? You posted almost the entire article. That's not the 'relevant bits', that's just spamming the board which is what he complained about. And you're lying again, i've never "admitted" that i "don't read". I actually read quite a bit. More than you apperently. and my response proves i do. Jezuz kid, no wonder people don't respect you. IF you're going to lie that brazenly at least try not to do it where the proof you're wrong is a few posts above And stop spamming the site and next time whatever quote or paragraph you think is really relevant then go ahead but don't post the whole thing and expect people to dig through it and try to guess what your point is. IF you have a brain use it, only the stupid just mass spam and hope people figure out what the hell they're talking about.1 point

Nope. Lower costs is accurate and lower infant mortality is accurate but by and large we have far worse health outcomes. More die due to lack of care even tho we all have coverage. More suffer far longer with horrible chronic pain and often die without ever getting treatment. And life expectancy in the states has more to do with their choices of diet and nothing to do with health care. Meanwhile we have less choice and vastly more people cant' even get a doctor. There's pros and cons to both sides but you're quite wrong saying we get better results1 point
