The economy isn't doing well from what I have seen. The analyses I have read blame Brexit. I used conventional sources and the arguments were straightforward and as expected. What do you have ?3 points

There was a very important 'poll' on November 5th and Americans selected the person they thought is best suited for the job. Whatever one may think of Trump's first term as president, enough voters decided to give him four more years. And this Nov 5th poll had an extremely large sample size.2 points

The sad thing is that when Trump drives the World into recession, with his ridiculous tariffs, and his minions who chose to run the country screw over most of the population, these MAGA loons will still blame Trudeau, leftists, woke, or whatever else that crosses their minds.2 points

I'm of the opinion that gun bans are not so much about protecting the people but more about protecting the government and neutralizing a possible threat to them.2 points

Lauren addressed this recently. It's a fact of life that countries interfere in the affairs of other countries to some degree. Personally I have more concern about the influence of the CCP in Canada rather than Putin. I do subscribe to her channel and love her content. I would urge others to check it out for for themselves.2 points

What is it with these large public service unions anyway? I realize that unions can't be blamed for the conduct of some of its members, but in many cases the antisemitism that seems to be so prevalent comes straight from the top. Are not unions supposed to be looking out for the best interests and welfare of all their members??? I belonged to a relatively small union for over 30 years. Never seen or heard of anything like this. Not a peep. Why aren't these union officials who preach all this antisemitism bullshit thrown out?1 point

Your hope is that we reward murder? So if somebody doesn't agree with the first nations for example. Loses their job because of a first nation protest or something? You'd be fine if they murdered a chief of that particular tribe or group and would then push for the government to make changes because somebody was murdered? The problem with the left is that you're all hypocrites. You have no moral values Next slower yet insist that you do If you don't like the laws then change the laws. If you don't like this company's insurance then change insurance providers. Or self-insure if you must. But this person sold the product lawfully and legally within the united states and other people willingly purchase that product and because they are unhappy with their personal decisions they killed him. That is the narrative being passed around at the moment. And you think that is perfectly okay and we should encourage it and reward it with changes in Behavior. You are basically saying that terrorism should be effective1 point

In January 2024, my department published an overview of the benefits of Brexit, on its fourth anniversary, to the UK economy. Since the referendum, the UK economy has grown faster than those of Germany, Italy and Japan, and is equal with the French. The IMF is now predicting that the UK will have the fastest growth in the G7 in the next five years. Meanwhile, our exports have reached £870 billion, and we are well on target to reach our overall target of £1 trillion. That growth in trade is greatly assisted by our free trade agreements, now signed with 73 countries globally plus the EU https://hansard.parliament.uk/Lords/2024-03-06/debates/200824FE-FB43-4E00-ADDB-897AC1896C48/BrexitBenefitsToEconomyAndSociety1 point

the thing to understand about Canada, is that Canada is vastly more urbanized than America the population is extremely concentrated in around the cities of Toronto & Montreal and there's nothing like the Electoral College in Canada so basically, if you can win greater Toronto & Montreal in an election, you can control the rest of the country from there it would be as if you only had to appeal to voters in New York City & Los Angeles in order to rule in America1 point

No, he knew that his claims were false. You can find the evidence for this in Section B: The Defendant Knew his Claims of Outcome-Determinative Fraud Were False (page 10-16) of Jack Smith’s court filing Right, and he was allowed to. The 2020 election was exhaustively investigated and litigated. Over 60 lawsuits filed, and none found widespread fraud. But that is not all he did. In fact, in the months before the election, he laid the groundwork for his plan should he lose the election. See Section A: Formation of the Conspiracies (page 5-10) of the court filing. He actually did that with this latest election too. Have a look at the unhinged post he made Sept. 7, 2024: https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/113098755955857290 And then there is the fake electors scheme. You can read about it in the following sections of the court filing (pages 15-72): C. The Defendant Aimed Deceit at the Targeted States to Alter Their Ascertainment and Appointment of Electors D. The Defendant Organized and Caused His Electors to Submit Fraudulent Certificates Creating the False Appearance the States Submitted Competing Electoral Slates E. The Defendant Attempted to Persuade Pence to Reject Votes Cast by Duly-Appointed Electors and Choose the Defendant’s Fraudulent Ones. Trump got due process. His defense was present at jury selection and signed off on every juror. They had every opportunity to challenge jurors, introduce evidence, question prosecution witnesses and call their own.1 point

Is that really shocking you are talking about a group who were mad because the assassin didn't kill Trump and cheered when a CEO was assassinated. What is interesting though is the judge has opened the door to getting smacked down on appeals if Perry is convicted of negligent homicide because in his original instructions to the jury was that negligent homicide could only be considered if they found Perry not guilty on manslaughter. When he dismissed the case he changed the rules and you can't do that and could be viewed as coming afoul of Perry's due process rights.1 point

Ya, the most thoughtful and reasonable conclusion you could come up with eh? I love the timing of this grab though, tactically I would have done the same thing in their place. It's an easy wedge issue and there's more of those to come IMO. The announcement and implementation dates are as tactically sound as they are cynical... the message is vote for us or you're at risk of being shot and that message clearly resonates with those who haven't taken the time to thoroughly research the issue. It reminds me of the Covid debacle... people with the strongest opinions always seem to be the most ill informed and it only takes a few basic questions to out them. As an aside, when it comes to archery I'm a bare bow guy, not much use for compounds and cross bows with range pins and scopes on them. Bullseye after bullseye is boring and I don't bother with them for that reason, but that's just me. We sometimes have open houses at our range and it's fun taking an anti firearms acquaintance who has never fired a handgun, rifle, or used a bow. All of the folks I've taken thoroughly enjoyed the outing... some have gone back with me for a second helping and all of them said they now understand why I spend so much time, effort and money on an activity they previously found too appalling to even consider trying. In a similar vein, I always ask these folks what firearms regulation they would invoke if they were the King of Canada for a day. Invariably they will come up with one that already exists and they're surprised to find out that it's more restrictive than what they had in mind. For those who don't get it, here's the draw (at least for me)... in short It's a demanding skill that can only be achieved with attention to detail. Martial arts are analogous here, especially anatomically centric ones like BJJ and Aikido. Even the loudest of loons aren't suggesting that people with black belts in both disciplines are the ones mugging old ladies Consistently achieving groupings under 4 inches with a bare bow at 20 metres and beyond will take you a while to achieve and some effort to maintain. If it were easy, I wouldn't bother doing it. There's a delicious irony in all of this that's utterly lost on liberal loons who think that duck hunters from PEI are the ones shooting up the streets of Toronto...the safest place they could possibly be in Toronto is at a sanctioned IPSC competition. Here's another safety irony that defies logic IMO: the AR15 is so damn dangerous that it can only be safely stored in the hands of those people who already own them. The phrase "assault style rifle" is another fascinating construct that has loon feathers attached to it. If it doesn't have selective fire it isn't an assault rifle any more than your pickup truck qualifies as a F1 race car by virtue of adding racing stripes. And, (AND)... they've been fu^%$#@ illegal in Canada for years. So who exactly do you think you're fooling here? There are exactly zero countries in the world currently using semi automatic rifles with five round magazines as a main battle rifle. On the plus side though, sending these critters to Ukraine is exactly the sort of effort Ukrainians have come to expect from virtue signalling progressive Canadian loons who lack clue one.1 point

We're not discussing other issues here. We're specifically discussing the fentanyl problem. Which the BC govt first pointed out an overdose crisis 8 years ago and fentanyl not singled as the main culprit until later. After which they allowed BC to test safe injection sites to prevent overdose deaths, which you condemn and then try safe supply to stop fentanyl contamination which you also condemn. So they have done something in the last 8 years, you just don't like it. And not suggesting any other alternative, it leads one to conclude you prefer jailing people for being addicts, the solution that didn't work for 100 years. Damn rights Canada has a fentanyl problem but only an utter fool (like Trump) would claim the problem is that we're shipping it into the USA. If we were, the US Border Service should hang its head in total shame they've only stopped 40 lbs of it in all this time and admit they are the real problem. The Mexican President is 100% correct in that the problem is the user's demand for it, and f*cking imposing tariffs on their legitimate exports will only make Mexicans poorer and more prone to influence by the cartels. Something far too deep for the ignorant US Rapist President to ever understand.1 point

That Russia is waging an internet war against the West is well established. Russia pours millions of dollars into producing false internet information to be consumed by millions of North Americans. One of Putin’s main goals is to see Western democracy fail. “Look,” he can say to the Russian people, “our way is better.” Below is linked an interesting article about a “former deputy Palm Beach County sheriff who fled to Moscow and became one of the Kremlin’s most prolific propagandists.” John Mark Dougan made his money as an operative of the GRU, Russia’s military intelligence service. He created the fake stories about the Zelenskyy’s using aid money to buy jewels and yachts and Tim Walz abusing a student when he was a teacher. All false, all originating in Russia. American creating deepfakes targeting Harris works with Russian intel, documents show Russia puts their sights on right-wing media. For some reason, they are more susceptible. Consider the right-wing influencers, like Tim Pool, who were duped into spreading Russian propaganda obtained from a media company that “was secretly funded by Russian state media employees to churn out English-language videos that were “often consistent” with the Kremlin’s “interest in amplifying U.S. domestic divisions in order to weaken U.S. opposition” to Russian interests, like its war in Ukraine.1 point

Your gun laws are garbage. Your health insurance regulations are garbage. The results speak for themselves. Your post-secondary education system is a joke. So much of it is for profit charging kids/families out the nose and they're in debt for decades. Nobody in Canada has to worry much about college debt. The best universities in the country have sub-10k annual tuition. You've never experienced anything else so its normal to you. Your country's laws are highly controlled by wealthy corporation donors who just want to make money.1 point

Not when the right believes in Trump for no other reason than he promises to stick it to the left. You mean they are deluded? Trump sends out dog whistles. He obfuscates. I hate the same people you hate! That’s all that matters. There are far too many things to list that Trump is wrong about, but let’s just keep it to this one – was he wrong to create the BIG LIE about the 2020 election being stolen so he could illegally retain power? Right. But not the man who said, Hitler did some good things. The man who praises Putin and Orban. The man who has given every indication he will tilt the levers of power in his favour during his second administration. See above. They listen to him not because they seek the truth, but because they seek to have control over things they do not understand. Hey, remember the time Trump said Biden hatched a plot to have him assassinated? That was awesome! This is the concern. They trust no-one or nothing – not scientists, not economists, not intellectuals, not facts, – no-one but power-hungry, narcissist Trump, despite his amorality and ignorance, his fomenting of hate and division, his lies and pettiness, his legal problems, his sexual crimes, his attempt to steal an election, his love of dictators and non-support of allies, and the threat he poses to democracy and world peace. He’s the slimy politician shaking the very foundation of the USA, who will say anything to get votes. The creepy uncle mob-boss who deals in strong-armed persuasion, lies, all lies, and leads the USA down a dark road. And for the record, I want to mention that Dolly Parton always had cats, not children. And that was okay.1 point

The Liberals have squandered $67 million on the long gun buyback, not a single gun returned. It's well know nearly all of gun crime involves handguns, not those scary looking black rifles that frighten the life out of Liberal snowflakes. Now they're talking about giving them to Ukraine. The logistics involved would be horrendous. All just another distraction from the current government screw ups.1 point

Well there's also the part where out they sometimes don't get what they pay for if their insurance company arbitrarily decides to refuse coverage, which is quite probably why this particular CEO is now so well ventilated.1 point

Oh for real? How did he do that? Yes but not for the reasons you say. Jokes (?) aside, these situations aren't remotely comparable. People invest with the knowledge that it maybe not pay out. People get insurance with the expectation that it will be there when they need it and not be denied to save the company a few bucks. I won't celebrate it but I'm certainly not gonna shed any tears for his guy.1 point
