Taking pride in one's race is hollow and in my opinion shows a profound lack of intellect. Why? Because one has zero control over being born caucasian, black, etc. To take pride in something that you do not control is simply hollow. Take pride in your accomplishments, decisions, etc but your race, height, or hair color is meaningless.2 points

All of that has been answered eyeball. There are no inconsistencies. The challenge is you bring up different rationale to support your pro Hamas claims and people tend to refute it. So when you say this is all been happening for a hundred years other people say well realistically it's longer than that. When you bring up religion people bring up religion. But at the end of the day the people alive today right now make their decisions. And right now Hamas chose to attack and kill civilians without warning or declaration in a horrible fashion. Israel is moving to eliminate that threat and whatever is necessary to eliminate that threat will be tolerated. His real has a right to self-defense. And none of the Canadian Russians who got kicked out of Russia back in 1918 Talk about going back and reseing their land. They have moved on. Gaza chose not to move on and is getting killed. Their initial resistance could have been understood but at this point in time? Sorry nope2 points

Unfortunately the electorate are forgetting just how valuable Canada’s roots are. Canada happened in a particular context and inherited institutions and traditions that put her on solid foundations. The pushers of Post-National State or UN rule don’t understand that the values underlying Canada are her strength. This is not China or Venezuela. Continuing to cook up Marxist redistribution programs and anti-family policies will eventually result in a failed state, because few people will care about a place that offers no good guidance, let alone defend it militarily. Trudeau’s government has called Canada genocidal (it isn’t) and has attacked its founding cultures. Of course many people don’t care about having King Charles on our bills because they don’t understand that it was the Royal Engineers who laid out our cities and the Royal Navy who settled them, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who policed the country and the British Parliamentary system that governed it. They don’t understand the very specific conditions of Loyalists building the farmsteads in Ontario and New Brunswick and throughout the early settlements. Why would this government who is in the business of making Canadians hate their first Prime Minister honour the builders of the CP railroad that settled the West? All we get is toxic propaganda about the “settler colonialists”, which is why our universities are full of ignorant radicals supporting Hamas. Much of our honour as a people lies in our valiant military history. Our Parliament is a veritable WW1 museum. Our role fighting Nazism in Europe in WW2 was significant. Our peacekeeping arose out of our reputation as honest brokers. If people don’t think that’s tied to our cultural history, they are sadly mistaken and will throw away Canada’s honour quickly.2 points

1. Populists are always there, and were. The idea that a solution to a complex problem can be possible through a secret, but simple act is as old as humanity itself. And it's quite easy to sell because this is exactly what folks are looking for at the times of uncertainty and change. Humans are famous, probably the unmatched champions in their ability to accept desired for the reality, and even force it on the reality, as much and to the last drop where it can last. 2. The populace as a whole does not have sophisticated intelligence. It's attitude can be described by only a few grades: "that's great let's get more of that!"; "meh, but OK"; and, "we've had enough of it, let's try something else". 3. In the latter case, the populace can take one of the available choices, presenting a disconnect and a change; or create new ones (upset; revolution). 4. The elites often, very often or almost always fail to see the moment when the population had enough and a real change, disconnect is needed. Can write many words but here: Gore; Clinton; Biden: as simple and terse as it gets. Nope, they just don't see it. All is going great and you just need to stick with us. Forever. No change. So, that ingrained desire of the elites to bathe in the status quo and avoid meaningful change as much as at all possible eventually comes face to face with the wish of the populace to see the change. If real, genuine one isn't possible OK give us some, even just words and entirely superficial. In the proportional system the problem is at least in part mitigated by recording a real, accurate representation of voters attitudes and forcing them to come to at least some consistent direction, often a compromise. But the binary one can offer nothing of the kind: either, the goodness of benevolent elites extended into infinity, "we take good care of you"; or all-out populism. This is the core, the essence. No good words can change anything in this picture. Ohoh.1 point

Yep. The Banana Republic is seen by Independents and they view Biden as worse for protecting democracy than Trump. MSNBC analyst dumbstruck by ‘shocking’ poll that independents fear democracy under Biden more than under Trump How delicious. Biden has a lot of problems with his campaign. He's viewed as too old, his economy sucks, the international situation sucks, the border is a mess and people have less net worth than before. None of that gets better before November. Now he even looks worse than Trump at protecting Democracy. Go figure.1 point

Almost no "people" buy 30 year bonds. That market is mostly reserved for institutional investors (pension plans and the like). At <1% coupon, the market for 30 year bonds would have been pretty limited. I'm sure Canada did renegotiate as much as it could at rates like that, but I doubt there was much appetite for it from buyers. Most fund managers at the time were doing everything they could to shorten their portfolio durations, anticipating rates would eventually strike upwards and hammer long-term bond markets. At higher rates where they might have sold, the trade-off would not have been there. When Conservative critics point to how Mexico's debt is generally much longer duration (as if they're financial geniuses or something), they ignore that 30 year gov't of Mexico bonds were paying ~8% or more in 2020. There were fund managers out there willing to embrace the extra credit risk of Mexican t-bills compared to US or Canada, but that was mainly because it was impossible to find worthwhile fixed-income yields in the safer and more traditional markets.1 point

That's not dishonest in the least. "Women" is a category. I haven't said anything that could be construed--even creatively construed--against women. Just like acknowledging that I don't respect liars, a behavior of which you are habitually guilty, is not an attack on the category of men, just because you happen to be a man. I have repeatedly said that if you want to claim I disrespect homemakers, that's a reasonable claim. But when you say that I disrespect women, that is an outright lie.1 point

False. The people who showed up and left are fine. For those who stormed the Capitol, their motives are abundantly clear. Yes, they did intend to overturn the election. Multiple examples in video and on print of them--prior to even attacking--calling for and referring to a "1776" moment. They erected gallows. They chanted to "hang Mike Pence." They threatened Speaker Pelosi. They chased representatives through the building and once the lawmakers were trapped they tried to break through the last remaining barricade to get to them. They are criminals. They are traitors. You don't get to pretend that these were simple tourists. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. They can all rot.1 point

Even the nuns think Butker is a jackass. "The sisters of Mount St. Scholastica do not believe that Harrison Butker’s comments in his 2024 Benedictine College commencement address represent the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college that our founders envisioned and in which we have been so invested. Instead of promoting unity in our church, our nation, and the world, his comments seem to have fostered division. One of our concerns was the assertion that being a homemaker is the highest calling for a woman. We sisters have dedicated our lives to God and God’s people, including the many women whom we have taught and influenced during the past 160 years. These women have made a tremendous difference in the world in their roles as wives and mothers and through their God-given gifts in leadership, scholarship, and their careers."1 point

Energy is not the only input or sector in an economy. It simply occupies a special place because the consumer has little to no control over the price in the short term. Gas is $4.25 per gallon here in Carson City. I can shop around and the lowest is $4.00... not big of a difference. Its called price elasticity of demand. Gas is a relatively inelastic good. Prices go up by 2%.. demand may go down by .3% at best.1 point

Here's the things I learned: At least 75% of the population has very strong authoritarian tendencies. Too large a % of people thoroughly enjoy being subjugated. When sufficiently frightened, most people will not only accept authoritarianism, they will demand it. Humans can be trained and conditioned relatively quickly and easily to significantly alter their behaviours, for better or for worse. 'The Science' has evolved into a secular pseudo-religion for millions of people in the West. This religion has little to do with science itself. Most people care more about looking like they are doing the right thing, rather than actually doing the right thing. It is difficult to get people "back to normal". Fear of social disapproval is stronger than fear of death. Propaganda is just as effective in the modern age as it was 100 years ago. Anything and everything can be politicized by the media, the government and those who blindly follow them. Many politicians and large corporations will gladly sacrifice human lives if it is conducive to their financial aspirations. Most people believe the government always acts in citizen's best interests. Once they've made up their mind, most people would rather to commit to being wrong, than admit they were wrong. People who are dismissed as 'conspiracy theorists' are often well researched and simply ahead of the mainstream narrative. Most people value safety and security more than freedom and liberty, even if said 'safety' is merely an illusion. Politics, the media, science, and the healthcare industries are all corrupt, to varying degrees. Scientists and doctors can be bought as easily as politicians. If you make people comfortable enough, they will not revolt. You can keep millions docile as you strip their rights, by giving them money, food, and entertainment. Modern people are overly complacent and lack vigilance when it comes to defending their own freedoms from government overreach. Most people are fairly compassionate and have good intentions (this is good). As a result, most people deeply struggle to understand that some people, including our 'leaders', can have malicious or perverse intentions (this is bad).1 point

Speaking of which. Look what the woke Trudeau acolytes have done with Sir John A Macdonald's home. Sir John A. Macdonald furnished his home with mahogany processed by slaves in the Caribbean. He combed his hair with the shells of now-endangered turtles. He exhibited parrot-based design motifs as a possible way of showing off the “perceived social and intellectual superiority” of his race. And the country he built remains “steeped in racism” and encoded by “colonialism.” These are just some of the takeaways from a new “decolonized” visitor experience just unveiled by Parks Canada at Macdonald’s Kingston, Ont., home. what is interesting is that most who care about politics think that the President controls the economy. Before your fingers start humming.. not controlling does not mean that he does not impact it. Unless they're lying and deliberately suppressing the very information and "meritorious discussion" you now seem to favour. Ya... I tend to agree. Where was that? Seems to me it's only happening now and most of the people who cheered when their neighbours got fired have gone strangely quiet in the face of information they previously never bothered to search for... or even question. I could readily forgive that were it not for the pervasive ridicule of those unable to even discuss the issues at a high school biology level. I must have missed that whilst searching for the banned opinions of Phd level immunologists. Getting answers to my questions was what my grandfather used to call "thirsty work." Maybe it was because so many of them were, de-platformed, fired and publicly ridiculed. Literally one hours worth of honest research would have been sufficient for the Ivermectin "are you a horse?" crowd to ask sensible questions rather than spewing those "hyperbolic adverbs" you refer to. It's still going on BTW, take the inquiry into the Emergencies Act. If 87% of the source documents remain deliberately classified and thus unavailable for distribution, analysis and reflection, you might as well save the money spent on the inquiry and simply give Canadians the middle finger they voted for.1 point

The monarchy is part of our system of governance and an important aspect of our culture. It’s not about Charles but the significant symbolism and heft of a title that has been maintained throughout significant world events over thousands of years. If you want to discard the Loyalist origins in favour of a second American republic, there are arguments to be made for that, but traditions are protections. The fact that we can refer to our important roots protects us from twits who think nothing of scrapping aspects of Canada that most of us value.1 point

https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/special-interlocutor-waiting-for-mp-bill-criminalizing-residential-school-denialism-1.6661615 Kimberly Murray called on lawmakers to consider "legal mechanisms" that could address the practice of denying or minimizing the abuses Indigenous children suffered at residential schools in her interim report released back in June. "Make it an offence to incite hate and promote hate against Indigenous people by … denying that residential (schools) happened or downplaying what happened in the institutions." In the meantime, Murray says she hopes to see NDP MP Leah Gazan bring forward her private member's bill seeking to criminalize such denialism, as the Parliamentarian has indicated that she will. Asked recently about its status, the Winnipeg representative said "there is something in the works." Not the libs this time, but once again the left looks to cancel those who disagree by locking them up. I don't think anyone out there ever has denied the school program happened. But - they throw in that whole' minimize the impact' thing. IN other words - if you dare to say "i don't think first nations children today are impacted by the residential school system which closed a generation ago", then you should go to jail? It's spreading hatred if you say "ok, but shouldn't we be over that by now?" or "when does that supposed 'generational' damage end? Are we saying first nations are now damaged forevermore by that? I've never particularly agreed with jailing holocaust deniers either - i think they're largely nuts but whatever. But at least there's some sort of validity. But suggesting as they do in this article that the residential school system is the same as the holocaust... ooops, i guess i better stop there, don't want to go to jail.1 point

When people, mostly doctors, say that nurse practitioners are a poor alternative, I have to ask, alternative to what? One quarter of people in my province have no GPs. The alternative to NPs for them is no care at all, ie, suffering, and possibly dying, quietly at home or braving the tedious chaos of the emergency rooms where they don’t belong. We have a third possibility called health hubs here which are a complete joke. I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that a larger private sector is needed in our health care system. For me, the opportunity to be able to access a nurse practitioner in my town is preferable to talking to some random medico by zoom or having a GP who is plotting to leave as soon as they arrive. At this stage I would be willing to pay for a local NP. In terms of reform on the public side, I would favour the Dutch model of compulsory insurance. How that would be reconciled with our provincial/federal ‘system’, Lord only knows. One issue we have been unwilling to explore: why are Canadian medical grads turning away from towns in favour of the large cities? This is not a simple economic matter because towns of my size are crying out for them in many regions. When I arrived in my town we must have had at least 10 Canadian GPs under 50. Now we have none. There is something going on there that the sociologists and psychologists should investigate. It won’t be easy - the replies given by physicians on this matter are misleading and I’m not sure physicians themselves know the answers. One possible and controversial issue is assortative mating. I’ll leave it for others to discuss. And a small hack for rural Canada - a one year program in dermatology for GPs. In Britain they have the Dip Derm for this purpose. We need it far more than they do. Many people in my province can’t travel to see the dermatologists who are all in one place now. GPs see all the skin conditions - pay a few of them to treat them.1 point

A major open war, an unprovoked full scale aggression is in its third year in Europe and yet the defense minister of the aggressor state is not charged with any of the uncounted crimes including razing to the ground of numerous settlements and several cities. "Selective justice" cannot be allowed he (the prosecutor Karim Khan) said. Ohoh. How far is it from solemn to outright ridiculous? He also choose to ignore (select) that totalitarian states of our time have learned how to weaponize, through incessant propaganda of hatred and selective violence, almost entire populations. Is it not incredibly "selective" to just ignore this obvious fact and pretend that some abstract holy paper demands the victim fighting for her very survival to fight with hands tied and "experts" watching her every step, having done nothing to prevent or stop the aggression? What would the reaction be if he came up with this idea in 1943 and 1944? The take: with decisions like this, ICC is driving itself out of relevance and no external help is needed.1 point

Nonsense. When Russia invaded Ukraine, Biden was clear and decisive. Trump has never been clear at all about Ukraine; he’s tossing around BS about how he’ll wave a magic wand and end the war in ten seconds, probably by handing Ukraine to Putin. And Trump told Putin he’d be glad for him to invade West European countries. Clinton did not start a war. Obama did not either. If you’re going to talk about conflicts, well, Trump lost special forces in Sudan about two weeks into his Presidency. Bigger screwup than Benghazi. So, no. Military leadership under Trump would clearly be awful. He didn’t get along with our generals at all. In fact, he called them “his generals, but they aren’t his, they are America’s.1 point

Well you can continue to argue this but, the public knows the truth. Trump leads Brandon by 14 points when asked who would handle the economy better. You think recovering jobs lost during The Rona is jobs growth. It is not. And replacing full-time employment with 2 part-time jobs slingin' burgers is not jobs growth. Brandon's spending and war on fossil fuels has kept inflation high. The fact is, Brandon has been a flop on every issue.1 point

Gas prices are not an economic indicator. They do not reflect economic health except at the margins, but rather are mostly decided by Sheiks half a world away acting on their own interests. POTUS has very little influence outside of extreme actions. But the price of gas as an input can influence the economy. A low interest rate is traditionally a response to a weak economy--or in the case of Trump taking office, the desire by the Fed to avoid disrupting the Obama recovery. They arguably kept their foot on the gas a bit too long. When economies get hot, central banks raise interest rates to slow spending and keep the economy from overheating into bubbles and inflation. The rates are set in response to economic conditions. So, again not an economic indicator. Unemployment, finally, is a reasonable economic indicator, but dig deeper there and you'll see that Trump's low unemployment number comes with caveats. The first is that he started on third base. He inherited a robust and growing economy. Job creation didn't change at all under Trump--well actually it slowed just a bit. He didn't accelerate the curve at all. The second caveat is that under Biden, who inherited a financial crisis, unemployment actually dropped lower than even Trump's best month, and has sustained far longer. Biden's record on jobs is objectively better than Trump's. It's Biden who owns the best jobs market since the 60s. So you're 0 for 3 in an effort to support your claim. Because it's a silly claim.1 point

Israel should be allowed the right to defend itself and to exist as a nation. When you attack as Hamas did on Oct. 7.. they knew that Israel would counterattack. Depending on one's perspective.. they are overreacting or not. When you attack someone and kill hundreds, you can't demand that react equal to you. Why do you have to take such a nonsensical approach to every thread? This Kimberly Murray is trying to criminalize the truth. Is that realistic? "When you talk about res schools, you have to pretend that every single kid was raped hundreds of times, many of them were murdered, no one had any good intentions at all when they sent them there, and not a single one of them benefitted from it in any way! Anything else is a criminal offence!" We just went through a year+ of pretending that some tree roots were 'a mass grave of children who were murdered in a genocide - there could be no other possible explanation for graves [from the Spanish flu/TB/smallpox era]', and I bet that Kimberly Murray doesn't think of that as a crime.
