I think if you are trying to immigrate to a new country, you should behave like a decent human being and be held to a higher standard. If you're found guilty of something like this, you're gone. There are plenty of people who want into Canada who won't sexually assault women, and we're better off having them here than creeps and perverts.3 points

One thing MAGA's do excel at, personal insults. Guess they find them a substitute for substance.2 points

Apparently, you have very low standards for immigrants. This is the problem with our immigration system; the low standards. We would be far, far, far better off with a lot fewer immigrants, but higher quality ones. We want people with high skills and also whose values line up with ours. We don't want to bring in potential rapists, thanks. I'd love to see our crime statistics broken down by who is and who isn't born in Canada. And what region the foreigners came from. When Sweden used to do this their stats showed a huge proportion of their criminals were born elsewhere. So the liberals stopped keeping such statistics. I'm sure ours would be similar. It stands to reason if you bring over millions of people from violent places with violent cultures of intolerance and misogyny you're going to see an uptick in violence. Especially sexual assault. Yeaaaah, that's BS. We can deport anyone we want to. It's just that our judges seem to be specifically selected for their empathy and sympathy for violent criminals and their lack of interest in the damage done to victims or the danger the criminals pose to society.2 points

Lol. "The judge belongs in jail!" Um, no. There is nothing wrong or unusual about that gag order. Demanding that a powerful, public figure (with a legion of cultish followers, no less) not make public statements that could intimidate or endanger witnesses, jurors or court staff couldn't be more reasonable--or necessary--to sustain the process of justice. And if you'll notice, in the contempt review the judge does not penalize Trump for responding back to an engaged party. If Michael Cohen says something related to Trump in public, Trump has been allowed to snipe back without consequence. It's a two-way street. Well, as much as it can be when dealing with such a public figure. Clamoring for judges to be imprisoned (for no legal reason, BTW) is really driving home the "law and order" theme.2 points

It's funny though, other media have gone through the same thing, specifically, radio. They thought it would be used for lectures, to transmit poetry, etc. As soon as advertising took off, a lot of people were angry with what was happening.2 points

Autocrats in China, Russia are now making common cause with MAGA Republicans to discredit liberalism and freedom around the world. MAGA Republicans are dupes of authoritarians of many stripes in a plot to destroy democracy. Trump's MAGA CULT is now a tool to destroy the FREEDOM Republicans have long defended.1 point

https://nationalpost.com/opinion/jamie-sarkonak-canadas-criminal-sentencing-discounts-for-foreigners-are-unfair Canada's criminal sentencing discounts for non-citizens are unfair Non-citizens who commit crimes in Canada shouldn’t get discounted sentences simply so they can avoid deportation. But in the Canadian justice system, that’s exactly what happens. We are beholden to judges who believe the rules apply differently to everyone. It played out recently in Calgary. Twenty-five-year-old Rajbir Singh, currently here on a visitor’s permit after initially coming to Canada in 2018 to study, was out one night at the Back Alley night club when he groped an 18-year-old woman’s genitals under her skirt as she stood at the bar to buy a drink. When she turned around in shock, he did it again and walked away, according to the court ruling. Singh was found guilty of sexual assault at trial. But he wasn’t convicted. Instead, in January, he was given a discharge by Justice A. J. Brown. The judge explained that a conviction would automatically result in deportation without a right to appeal, while a discharge wouldn’t generate a permanent criminal record and would preserve Singh’s right to appeal his deportation. The judges have apparently given up all pretense of being on the side of the lawful public. They work exclusively for the benefit of the criminals at this point. This has got to change.1 point

The entire saga of the middle east centers on the establishment of a Muslim caliphate. As for Isreal.. the conflict all starts with the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948. The grudges in the middle east run long and deep. When the state of Israel was formed in 1948... the majority of the population in that geography were what? Arabs/Berbers... who were mostly Muslim and had been since roughly 1200. This is why the conflict keeps going and will always continue. This is much the same as the Europeans coming to what is now called the US and forcing the natives off the land. Only difference is that the Palestinians (arabs/berbers) are better equipped.1 point

You can download or order a copy of the Australian Covid Commission's Inquiry into Excess Deaths, here: Too Many Dead 2023 (redunion.com.au) Australia, being an island, was an interesting case study - they had NO covid cases or deaths until the rollout of the jabs. IT MAY AT FIRST SEEM AN EXTRAORDINARY THING TO SAY, BUT THE FACT IS THAT AUSTRALIA IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A PROLONGED ELEVATED RATE OF DEATH ACROSS ALL AGE GROUPS. AN EXAMINATION OF THE OFFICIAL FIGURES SHOWS RATES IN THE VICINITY OF 12-17% ABOVE BASELINE AVERAGES, RATES NEVER SEEN SINCE WARTIME. THEY LEAPT UP IN EARLY 2021 AND CONTINUE AT UNUSUAL LEVELS TO THIS DAY. In response to the globally declared COVID-19 pandemic, Australian medical and political authorities enforced unscientific and profoundly unethical public health measures such as extended lockdowns, border closures, school closures, forced masking and mandated novel vaccines still clearly in the experimental phase of development. There is no credible evidence that the non-pharmaceutical or pharmaceutical public health interventions enforced reduced mortality and kept people “safe”. The unprecedented excess deaths being seen in Australia are also being seen globally, with many countries witnessing disturbing trends in death from all causes, the majority of which are not attributable to COVID-19. The scale of death suggests we are in the midst of an actual disaster. The fact that it appears silent alters nothing. Too many extra Australians are dying and yet almost none of our public health officials, politicians or medical colleges and associations seem interested in finding out why. We seem to be confronted by administrative wilful blindness. Failure of the authorities to seek answers in fact shows a reckless disregard for the lives of Australians. It is past time for us to demand an answer to what is causing these deaths and how to stop them. If the government really cares about keeping people “safe” why is there such a refusal to inquire? Senator Ralph Babet put forward two motions in the Senate seeking acknowledgement and an investigation into Australia’s concerning excess death data. On March 23rd, 2023 he proposed a select committee of inquiry. Senator Babet pursuant to notice of motion not objected to as a formal motion, moved a general business notice of motion no. 194 - That a select committee, to be known as the Select Committee on Australia’s Excess Mortality, be established to inquire into and report on (this issue)…. But the motion was defeated 35 to 4. Then again, regarding the Australian Bureau of Statistics Mortality date, on March 24th, 2023, a motion was moved by Senator Babet asking that the Senate acknowledge: There has been a concerning number of excess deaths in Australia in 2021 and 2022, as evidenced by recent all-cause provisional mortality data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and There is a need for further inquiry and scrutiny as to the reasons for these excess deaths, including why dementia and diabetes have seen significant increases in recent years. The motion was defeated 30 to 29. Since it appears those who have been entrusted to serve and protect the people refuse to fulfil their duty to seek answers, the Australian Medical Professionals’ Society will do so. AMPS, as an association of medical professionals dedicated to ethical evidence-based healthcare, is undertaking an inquiry that no one else will address. It is our duty as health professionals to make our patient’s health and safety our first priority. AMPS will be holding an inquiry into Australia’s excess mortality on Wednesday, October 18th in Parliament House, Canberra. We have called for submissions from national and international experts as well as from the TGA, ATAGI and the Department of Health. The number of dying Australians constitutes an unfolding catastrophe and we owe it to all those dead Australians and their grieving families and friends to investigate what is killing people at such an alarming rate. Failing to seek answers is negligent and far beyond disrespectful.1 point

IMO...the powers that be are "priming" the global population for disaster of their own making. The Rona scare. The wars. The immigration. The climate BS. The population is freaked out now. They'll wait till its unlivable and then...present a solution that appears to save the world. People will willingly hand over what's left of their freedom. Et voila...mission accomplished. One more thing, you stupid little child: the vast majority of Palestinians support those exact pictures I showed. When you support Palestinians, you are entirely supportive of this: I fully support every missile and every bullet that Israel fired in this war. For your information, Israelis don't rape and then murder muslim women, and then parade their naked bodies through the streets for children to spit on. Palestinians actually do rape and then murder muslim women, and then parade their naked bodies through the streets for children to spit on, and it's wildly popular. You support that.1 point

War is politics, only old men and women start it, in the name of politics and our young men fight it...it is always been that way...It did not take long for the people of palestine to find out what was done in their name , and what did they do they celebrated like it was X-mas...young terrorist phoned home to brag how many women and children they had killed...recording their crimes on cell phones, sending those images out for the world to see..."look what i done" these are the people you support....these are the crimes you condone...these are the crimes we will continue to see if Hamas is not wiped out... And your the one thats divided...you've eaten this propaganda up like it was hot oatmeal on a cold day... These terrorist and those that support them will eventually see their own ends....Hamas knows once all the hostages are returned or confirmed dead, Israel will destroy what is left of gaza....it may be this month or before winter...but it is going to happen...you people can cry and scream for peace all you want...the protend protestors will eventually give up, abandoned the universities....maybe even see Hamas for what it is.....but there will be no peace until Israel is done....1 point

At this point, you are simply not telling the truth. It has already been pointed out to you they engaged in violence before counter-protestors showed up. No, we have checks and balances in place. Trump has to be elected and Congress would have to support him. When you bring such politically motivated specious charges... you are not going to win over people or Congress. And when you start a thread complaining about how the DOJ is not charging Biden, I will believe you have a care in the world about injustice. The system is designed just fine. Calling me names doesn't make your case any better here.1 point

Why are we wasting time on a sexual predator like that tho? Seriously - the guy comes to our country and assaults a woman and we're giving him another chance? This wasn't some pat on the tush, this was grabbing her crotch under her dress. Why would we want someone like that in our country? Such a scumbag that he'd grab a girl like that and so stupid he doesn't realize he'll get in trouble for it? So we're going to be nice? What's the logic behind that? How is this guy going to be a net contributor to our society? Especially if we're sending a message that 'don't worry - we won't let you get deported!"1 point

No, I think him being an awful human being is objectively true, and I think most people will agree, whether they like his politics or not. If you read a blinded story about someone who cheats on his wives, assaults women, steals from charities, runs scam businesses, cheats his contractors, lies constantly without hesitation, spouts recycled nazi rhetoric etc.-- nobody is going to think that is a good person. The greed, the gluttony. He really has no redeeming qualities, save for political convenience. As I've often said, nobody wants their sons to grow up to behave like Trump, nor their daughters to marry men like Trump. We try to tech them better. And, again, the idea that this is "lawfare" is absurd. Trump has actually done all the things of which he is accused. He has broken those laws, and generally behaved as if the laws should not apply to him. Hell, his team is arguing in court that the POTUS should be entirely above the law, free to break any law with impunity. Any decent person should be shocked and appalled by an idea so antithetical to American values, but the "party of law and order" is A-Okay with this guy elevating the office (and conveniently himself) above the law.1 point
-
Why do you think that he should not feel obligated to follow the judges lawful--and basic common sense--orders? The same guidelines that apply in every court and case? Why do you think Trump is above the law?1 point

Been to Moscow, ID a few times. I grew up in Boise. I detect that you have not been there or not for a long time and are relying on second hand media for this. This sounds a bit hyperbolic. The point being (interesting how you dodge this) is the reputational risk and damage is greater if you make it public than if you take legal action and therefore galvanize the opposition. I have seen the prior method work.1 point

So? First off it's !diotic to suggest that somehow is evidence by itself that the number would have been different without the vaccine. You certainly would have to prove that MILLIONS more would have died without the vaccines at all which seems to be what you're suggesting But on top of that - remember we still would have had vaccines. The majority of people (myself included) took them willingly. And it's pretty obvious that those in at risk groups would have been far more likely to take it. So you would have to prove that if 60-70 percent of the people took it willingly (mostly in the at risk group) that this woudn't have had the same effect as having an extra 15 percent which was mostly young healthy people not at risk. And further - 700 million people were not infected in canada. And canada is what we're talking about. Canada had less than 60 thousand deaths as of may 3 2024. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Canada So ... where's your evidence that if it was optional (without coersion) that the results would have been any different? Oh you have none? You were just lying and making shit up again to promote your echo chamber? Yeah. Thought so1 point

In many ways I think it's completely irrelevant what Trump does. He's an awful human being, and that won't change one way or the other based on a trip to Rikers for contempt of court. (As much as I'd love to see it.) Probably what's more important is what Trump's supporters make of the situation. They've spent months convincing themselves that he's the victim of some legal witch hunt, that he's being persecuted, when in fact his crimes are pretty plain to see. But here, in this case we have an almost scientific experiment. Isolated from politics and even from the gorpy facts of a criminal indictment, we have a judge issuing a plain as day instruction. And it's incredibly basic: don't make public statements about witnesses, jurors, court staff and their families. This is standard stuff for reasons that everyone understands. The judge has been clear about it. Trump was warned multiple times and continued to violate. He's been fined multiple times, and continues to violate. And the judge is begging him to stop, so that he doesn't have to put a past and potentially future president in jail. But the question for Trump supporters, who can see the clear and repeated violations of a simple court order taking place, whether they will finally hold Trump responsible for his own dumb actions, or whether they will try to blame the court for trying to enforce a basic point of law. It's a lot like dealing with a toddler. They will push boundaries until they trigger the ultimatum. As Trump seems likely to do. Will his supporters finally acknowledge that the toddler was at fault for willfully violating a plain, simple and fair directive? Or, like the toddler, will they blame the authority figure for imposing consequences. Should be illuminating either way--but I have my guesses. lol1 point
