1. But she produces the material that earns the money so she should get the lion's share of revenue. 2. No, she has talent. 3. It doesn't matter if they're good at business, or nice. If they hit a ball or strum a harp and a billion people watch, then that's the earning power. They have a monopoly on what they do as individuals. We don't need to care about them, we do need to care about people who are systematically squeezed out of a living wage while the middlemen pick their pockets.3 points

Don't worry about me, I just had my best year ever and I'm getting yet another raise in the next couple months. Of course I depend on people who can afford stuff and apparently half of Canadians are $200 away from not being able to cover an emergency. I'm not bitter I'm concerned.2 points

The Trump administration separated families, and would not allow asylum seekers to claim asylum at the point of entry. They had to apply from Mexico. That is illegal. Any person who is at a port of entry and claims asylum must, by law, be admitted and to have their claim investigated and processed. That is not only international law, but US law, passed by Congress and up held by the SCOTUS. They cannot be removed until that process is complete.2 points

The right’s heads exploded when minimum wage goes up by a few cents. So you’re in favour of the workers making more than CEOs? That’s what is happening in the scenario you describe. I would be happy with workers making 5% of what CEOs make.2 points

And more importantly, income has outpaced inflation. It's not just that people have nominally higher wages, it's that they are meaningfully higher even after accounting for inflation, taxes, etc. Even the low mark in 2022 is higher than the pre-pandemic high mark (pre-pandemic stimulus and post pandemic stimulus, old normal vs new normal). By most things you can measure, the economy and the people living in it are better off than they were 4 years ago. But they apparently don't know it. 🤷♂️2 points

First Sentence of First Post in this Thread says CIVIL FRAUD. Ex-President has had his NY businesses dissolved and will be fined somewhere between $100 million and $750 million. A fine on the higher end will end his business empire, as it should. I won’t write any more cause you aren’t reading anything here.2 points

I'm glad they're doing this because I can see a dictator-like scumbag like Joe Biden pouncing on opportunities to mistreat people who are directly under his authority. "More than 200 U.S. active duty and retired service members are vowing to hold senior military leaders in the Biden administration — "who broke the law" — accountable for establishing the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The Pentagon made COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for service members in August 2021, and 8,000 service members were discharged for not taking it. "While implementing the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, military leaders broke the law, trampled on constitutional rights, denied informed consent, permitted unwilling medical experimentation and suppressed the free exercise of religion," read a letter from active duty service members and veterans sent Monday to senior military leaders. A copy of the letter, titled a Declaration of Accountability, was posted on X by Brad Miller, who describes himself as a former Army officer." https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/covid-vaccine-mandate-us-military-mark-milley/2024/01/01/id/1147837/1 point

There is a hot book on Amazon called: "O CHINADA, The Manchurian Canadaian: Communist Patsy of Canada, CHANNELING CASTRO" O CHINADA, The Manchurian Canadaian: Communist Patsy of Canada, CHANNELING CASTRO eBook : Rosenberger, Richard Abram: Amazon.ca: Kindle Store "We are witnessing the globalist hostile takeover of Canada through Justin Trudeau. Following the World Economic Forum playbook, Marxist powers of this age have "penetrated" the Liberal Government of Canada by the Queen's Royal Assent. Foreign actors and interests currently control the Prime Minister, all under the guiding eye of the Monarchy. An autocoup has already dismissed our Constitution, mandated tyranny, holding many nations. Treaties are signed, but you were NOT at the table!" Is this for real or is this some kind of scam? I don't know. We do know the Trudeau government puts a lot of trust in what the U.N. says and parrots them on some things like Covid vaccinations, climate change and now the war between Israel and Hamas, and mass immigration into Canada. Canada already seems to be less of a sovereign country and more of some kind of property of the U.N. We know Canada also sends billions of dollars to other countries. Four billion to Iraq. And we know Canada is spending tens of billions of dollars on EV battery plants as part of their war on climate change and the U.N. has been banging the gavel about the war on climate change along with COP28. We need to ask why Trudeau and his minister Guilbeault need to using Canada on the war against climate change likely more fervently than any other country in the world. Why are we paying such a heavy price for this war on climate change? Maybe I will get the book on Kindle or get the paperback. It is hard to judge a book by its cover.1 point

So this is across all parties and even among immigrants themselves. Virtually every group no matter how you break it down feels that immigration is too high. Again - justin has access to these numbers, i just don't get why he insists on racking immigration up even higher. https://dominionreview.ca/abacus-poll-shows-canadian-immigration-attitudes-hardening/ Majority of Canadians think federal immigration target is too high: Way too high (40%) Too high (27%) About right (23%) Too low (2%) Don’t know (7%) Majorities in all regions surveyed think immigration is too high: British Columbia (64%) Alberta (70%) Saskatchewan/Manitoba (67%) Ontario (70%) Québec (60%) Atlantic Canada (68%) Majority of both immigrants and native-born think immigration is too high: Born in Canada (68%) Born outside Canada (62%) All age groups, both sexes agree that immigration is too high: 18-29 (54%) 30-44 (64%) 45-59 (71%) 60+ (73%) Male (65%) Female (69%) Voters from all four major parties want lower immigration: Conservative (82%) Liberal (61%) NDP (63%) Bloc Québecois (80%) * The Abacus survey does not include the Green Party, but the Leger survey reported that 58% of Green voters think immigration is too high. A plurality of Canadians think too many immigrants are arriving in their community: “Does your community need more or less immigrants?” Less (47%) +6 since July About the same as now (38%) More (15%) This includes most immigrants themselves: “Does your community need more or less immigrants?” Born in Canada answering less (48%) Born outside of Canada answering less (44%) Growing concern over impact of immigration on daily life: The Abacus poll shows that many Canadians continue to believe that immigration is having a positive effect on the availability of workers, economic growth, and Canada’s ability to attract new business investment – although support is slipping on all of these measures since the last time Abacus asked respondents in July. Respondents were particularly concerned about the less abstract effects of immigration, in particularly its impact on their daily lives. “Do you think the number of immigrants coming to Canada is having a positive, neutral, or negative impact when it comes to…” Access to healthcare (Negative: 53% Neutral: 27% Positive: 14%) Crime and public safety (Negative: 39% Neutral: 41% Positive: 13%) Congestion and traffic (Negative: 51% Neutral: 33% Positive: 10%) The cost and availability of housing (Negative: 69% Neutral: 17% Positive: 8%)F And finally, an increasing number of Canadians think immigration is making Canada worse off: “Is immigration making Canada better or worse off?” Worse (43%) +7 since July Better (24%) -4 since July1 point

Canada's GDP per person is up 1% or so in the last 15 years. The US GDP per person is up about 14% And yet, strangely, the US has reduced emissions by about 20% since 2005 while Canada is down a bare 8% So you're saying it's better to have a climate plan that doesn't work than to not have a climate plan? So what? So is the Liberal party's climate reduction plan, it's plan for EVs, and it's pretense that it's going to achieve net zero. Or even the belief that it SHOULD.1 point

The devil is in the details. They do not do a background check as we think of them. Their background check consists of checking your name against a list of known terrorists or terrorist associates and a criminal records check. That's it. Nobody is going to go interview your employers or friends and family. With five hundred thousand immigrants coming each year, not to mention over a hundred thousand refugee claimants we simply do not have time. Nor do we have time to check much on the million foreign students or the million plus foreign workers.1 point

The shareholders and company profits pay the CEO's.....as they do the workers too. I am pretty sure the CEO's pay lots of taxes. The industry minister is a dolt. As are all of Justin's cabinet. Yes, the grocery chains make money, that is what they are supposed to do for their shareholders. As they said though, it is their ancillary businesses that are making all the money. Shoppers, Joe Fresh, Valu mart, Zehrs, Jean Coutu, Brunet, Lawton Drugs , BoniChoix and on and on that are not grocery stores. Of course, Walmart and Costco sell much more than groceries too. Bottom line is that industry minister can crap on grocery stores but we, the people, are the ones buying form the subsidiaries of the chains and increasing their profits. Just another Trudeau tactic tryign to deflect his responsibility for poor economic policy.1 point

Sorry kid - you need to learn to do math. the overall inflation has exceeded wage growth even if at the moment wages are growing slightly faster, and people know it. The problem with inflation is even when the rate goes down - the prices do not. So wage growth has NOT exceeded inflation at this point. And unless something changes it's sure not going to this year. Sorry - should have realized i'd have to do the math for you. And as i already posted the gdp issue is getting worse as well. So - by every reasonable measure people are worse off now then when biden came along. You can lie to yourself if you like and you and hodad can ignore the facts and have a litlte circle jerk over whatever cherry picked numbers get you exctied but at the end of the day as i've shown with NUMEROUS sources now by any reasonable measure the economy is not doing great and people kow it.1 point

This says nothing about the economy over time, so it says nothing about Biden’s performance either way. But the nations ranked above the U.S. have one of two characteristics: They’re either an oil export kingdom, or they’re a more socialist nation than the U.S. Since America cannot become an oil export kingdom, the other way to move up the rank is to become more socialist.1 point

Did you see what they did to us during Covid? I think that reveals their true motives. They are not on our side. China screwed us when they reneged on their/Trudeau's proposal to develop the 'Cansino' vaccine. Result- Canada had to do an about-face and purchase from Pfizer and Moderna. This is long after they've taken major orders from other countries, pitting Canada on a waiting list. Canada had to borrow vaccine from a vaccine exchange bank set up by the WHO to provide vaccine to third world countries. Canada later donated vaccine to this third world fund. Canada also had to agree to purchase a much larger amount of vaccine than needed. Not to mention that China withheld PPE during the crisis. Canada purchases about 80-90% of our medication and ppe from China. There was a rumour that in the early days of the outbreak they communicated to Chinese citizens worldwide to buy PPE in their countries and ship them to China. Had enough? No? China’s Epic Dash for PPE Left the World Short on Masks (Bloomberg) United Front groups in Canada helped Beijing stockpile coronavirus safety supplies (Global News) etc.1 point

No, you simply don’t understand this situation at all. Yes, it is a civil fraud trial. You didn’t need to “mansplain” that, because I wrote that in the first sentence of the first post in the thread. Yes, he and his sons have been found GUILTY in this civil fraud trial. Technically, the term is “liable,” but he’s guilty. That much of the case is already done. The NY State Supreme Court hasn’t “signaled” anything. Here is the judicial order stating that Trump and sons are liable for fraud: https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/fbem/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=tTcU_PLUS_uJJ8i5XjrCTSNk2eA==&system=prod I get that you read nonsense news, but all of the facts about this case are posted public record. You can download and read all the facts from the court’s website. Trump and his sons have already been found guilty of fraud, Trump waived his right to a jury (which he later declared was “unfair,” even though it was his choice), and in a week or two, Judge Engoron will issue his ruling which state the damages Trump needs to pay. And the damages will likely be well north of $100 million, possibly $500 to $750 million.1 point

I think you mean 100 percent of the conservatives here It is not. Not even a little bit. In fact the opposite is true. Conservatives are far more likely to question. It was Harper who told the queen straigt up she had no ACTUAL power in canada any more and was a figure head. She didn't care for that but couldn't argue. It is ANTI-conservative to believe that loyalty to the crown is ANY kind of directive, never mind prime But that IS the kind of thing a left winger would claim about the right. Kinda proves the point. NOT a right wing person OR a conservative but like most on the left these days they prefer to lie about it rather than admit their own affiliation. Right Justins boy?1 point

Poverty breeds crime. What are the poorest and thus most crime riddled areas in the GTA? And who lives there? Seems like a lot of refugees. If you don't speak English and are unskilled and poorly educated you and your family will likely be poor. Many immigrants can speak English and are educated and aren't poor and don't commit crime. Who is "panicking"? If ANYTHING, not enough is being done, and that only drives UP the cost long term. You do know about carbon offsets don't you? The carbon emitted from those flights can be offset by other ACTIONS RIGHT NOW. I'm all for forcing the purchase of carbon offsets. If someone can afford a private jet, they can afford carbon offsets. How about YOU?1 point

All good points, but the solutions are not simple. You need politicians (and a population) willing to embrace some short-term discomfort to make the changes necessary. When all we are getting from our leaders (from any side) are hot-takes and platitudes, and a willfully uninformed population that responds to nothing but outrage and grievances, thats the sort of leaders we get.1 point

This was only a matter of time, with the looming housing crisis, and stress on the education, infrastructure, and health care. Not to mention many Canadians are being pushed out of the market, due to housing being not affordable. I am somewhat surprised that the numbers for BC are not higher. Quebec would finish lowest, since they are getting the lowest share of new Canadians (per-capita) Not surprising the Conservatives are more opposed to immigration, considering new Canadians tend to flock to large cities, and vote for the Liberals and NDP. These numbers will increase, only the immigrants become accustomed to life in this country. They are also more affected by increased immigration than traditional Canadians. When the full effect of the 2.3 million new Canadians that have arrived has been felt, the "Worse off" number is going to skyrocket.1 point

If the people who pretend to care so much about global warming were legit, their solution wouldn't be: "Stop burning Alberta coal right beside the mines - ship it 10,000 km to China to be burned there." There's nothing about our "Global warming" targets that doesn't benefit China. Buy their batteries, buy their solar panels and other green tech, sell our cheapest fuels to them at a discount, and make energy costs here skyrocket, while they use all the cheapest forms of energy available. And do we really believe in the purchase of these "carbon offsets"? Does Trudeau really pay enough money into a legitimate carbon offset company to make up for the fact that he flies his own sycophant mediatards around in a jumbo jet, or is that BS as well? Who owns these companies? A bunch of cronies? Celebrity global warming pimp: "Yeah, I fly a private jet and cruise in circles in a yacht - burning more fuel almost every day than you burn in your entire lifetime - but I pay for some tree-planting. If I didn't pay for those trees to be planted, we would eventually run out." Sure buddy, I totally believe you. Thanks for saving the planet.1 point

Lets be very real here, the majority of Canadians don't really give a rats ass about climate change if they have to pay for it...If they were concern the streets would be full of protesters chirping about our present failure of a climate plan...which has not produced any real results in the last 8 years...we have not meet ANY of our signed to inter national climate change objectives, and we wonder why we as a nation have a shit inter national reputation....this government and it's leftist voters are all talk no action.... So lets stop the climate change bullsh*t talk, altogether, everyone already knows what is going to happen if we do nothing....But we are content in this nation to do just that, (well atleast it is better than the conservatives plan) is the lefts battle cry, (thats reassuring)......the left has failed to do anything of any value....and we are not sure what the right is going to do...But i am sure it will produce more results than the left has...1 point
