The average person with an actual human brain knows that in countries like Sweden, spending a few hundred euros too much on a dinner with tax dollars for a politician can break its career. Systems are different everywhere, and ours has a big flaw; we allow too much corruption as a nation, and not only on the federal level. There is the potential to do better, by correcting the system, which is broken. We could for example have a dedicated permanent anti-corruption RCMP unit that would be funded extremely well to replace the Ethics Commission which in my book is a total farce.

I'll say this: -it's not very useful to judge people by what they do when they're powerless, because their options are limited, and they're likely just doing what they have to do in order to get by. I.e., your next-door neighbour's friendliness is nothing to go by. -If you get the chance to see what people do when they're in a position of power, then you truly know them for who they are. That being said, if you go to muslim countries, you will experience religious bigotry on a level that's not fathomable here. Not just in their own 'hick' towns, or at a regional level: bigotry starts at the federal gov't level and is embraced all throughout the clergy, right down to the poorest civilian. The religious hierarchy of humans, based on their religion, comes right from their scriptures. There are countries that still have the death penalty on the books for apostasy - that's just you deciding for yourself that you want to personally renounce your faith. Mohammed himself issued a death warrant against one of his first adherents, one of his scribes, for apostasy. None of that has nothing to do Britain or with Donald Trump, it goes back 1,000 years. They recognize that the market does solve problems that traditional socialism and communism simply can't fix. Nowadays europeans tend to refer to it as "democratic" socialism or sometimes 'market' socialism although that's even more control. Well, lets not nitpick - you mean they intend to exercise very very strong controls over what people can say or think out loud. Yes. Canada has always had a slightly socialistic bend to it. It's still more european (where socialistic and communistic ideas tend to flourish) than it is north american in some respects. Certainly the east where the power largely rests. No no no - you see the PEOPLE don't know what's best for them, they have to be TOLD wants best for them. Otherwise they'll just spend all their money on beer and popcorn! That's why it's up to justin and the gov't of the day to guide us to the right thinking - and by 'guide' i mean by controlling our speech and by force of law if necessary.
