Audio: Michigan fake elector outlines Jan. 6 plan to present Mike Pence with "dueling electors" Meshawn Maddock admitted to collusion with Trump lawyers in a 2020 radio interview: report Tatyana Tandanpolie One of the fake Republican electors in Michigan explained in December 2020 that the plan to use fake electors to certify a win for Donald Trump in their state arose from conversations with "some very incredible constitutional attorneys" from the former president's campaign. Meshawn Maddock, one of 16 false electors in Michigan charged in July for the alleged plot, described the Trump campaign-headed plan in detail during a Dec. 16, 2020, radio interview, recalling that the decision on which electors to use would be left to a constitutional attorney, then-vice president Mike Pence and Congress, according to a CNN KFile review of the interview. The newly uncovered conversation exposes Maddock's extensive knowledge of the Trump campaign's role in the scheme to usurp Joe Biden's electors and contradicts her previous comments claiming a "vague" recollection of the plot when questioned about CNN's reporting on the campaign's involvement last year. Maddock has previously said that the fake Republican electors were not intended to replace the legitimate pro-Biden electors, but her comments about Pence in the 2020 interview demonstrate her understanding that the fake slate could have overtaken the legitimate votes on Jan. 6, 2021. Despite the former president losing Michigan by over 150,000 votes, Maddock and the 15 others fake electors signed certificates falsely asserting their legitimacy in the state just days before the interview and attempted to enter the state capitol to deliver the votes. "I'm no constitutional attorney," Maddock said in the interview with local radio host Steve Gruber. "I'm an elector for Donald Trump from the Michigan Republican Party. I along with the other 15 electors were guided by legal minds – attorneys for our president, some very incredible constitutional attorneys – I've never in my whole life appreciated legal minds and attorneys before." Maddock did not name the Trump attorneys she referenced, CNN reports. Despite showing in the interview that she understood the specifics of the fake electors plot, Maddock has more recently claimed that she doesn't recall many of the details. "I can tell you that in the last few weeks, just some incredible minds," she added. "And from what I understand, you know, you have the federal constitutional law, and then you have state statutes, um, and they're two different things. So, what we did, uh, along with seven other states, really send in dueling electors, and that will be there before, um, you know, a federal constitutional attorney, and it'll be before, uh, Mike Pence and Congress to make that decision." Maddock, who is also the spouse of a conservative state legislator, went on to become the co-chair of Michigan's Republican Party following the 2020 election and presided over the group's 2022 losses during the midterms. She regurgitated some of Trump's most contentious false voter fraud claims and eventually deleted a tweet spreading an unfounded conspiracy theory that Dominion Voting Systems had altered votes during the 2020 election. She declined CNN's request for comment. In the December 2020 interview, she also referenced the 1960 election in Hawaii where pro-Kennedy electors were sent to the National Archives alongside Republican electors, an example Trump campaign attorneys used to support their argument in memos detailing their fake electors plans. However, the differences between Michigan's 2020 election and Hawaii's 1960 election are significant. Richard Nixon's win in Hawaii was reversed after a recount — in which John F. Kennedy and Nixon were separated by less than 150 votes — thus handing its electoral votes to the Democrat. In Michigan, Biden had over 150,000 more votes than Trump and the results were never a question. Despite showing in the interview that she understood the specifics of the fake electors plot, Maddock has more recently claimed that she doesn't recall many of the details. "A lot of that is still vague to me. And I don't have any email communications with any of these people," Maddock told Gruber in a separate July 2023 interview when asked which attorneys asked her to sign the fake election certificates. Want a daily wrap-up of all the news and commentary Salon has to offer? Subscribe to our morning newsletter, Crash Course. She then seemingly pushed responsibility onto the last state party chairperson, Laura Cox, saying that "somebody from her staff contacted all of us, asked us to be at the Michigan Republican Party office at 2 pm." In a deposition with the House select committee, which investigated the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, Cox said the Trump campaign asked her to "facilitate having the electors meet and sign some sort of document." The request, she explained, made her uncomfortable. "So, we came up with a document that we would have them have a ceremonial meeting, and one person would sign a document stating that if perhaps something were to happen in the courts, they were willing and able to serve as electors from Michigan for Donald Trump and Mike Pence," Cox said. Maddock and the 15 other fake electors were charged in July for their roles in the Trump campaign plan to overturn the 2020 election results in the state by enlisting the help of false electors. Each indicted individual was charged with eight state felonies: two counts of forgery, one count of conspiracy to commit forgery, one count of publishing a counterfeit record, one count of conspiring to publish a counterfeit record, two counts of election law forgery and one count of conspiracy to commit election law forgery. All 16 pleaded not guilty to the charges. https://www.salon.com/2023/09/07/audio-michigan-fake-elector-outlines-jan-6-plan-to-present-mike-pence-with-dueling-electors/2 points

Well thats 1000% better than they have ever had, they now have some of the puppets strings and they are making Justin dance...I don't think they will ever have that opportunity again...and when PP gets into power where do you think NDP will sit...nobody cares ....personally i hope they make up the official opposition and the liberals get pushed back into the back benches...It's a dream of mine...2 points

"... 22 years...". Well, you get what you are...A racketeer, a violent criminal who needs to be in federal.prison, just like his pal Trump and his criminal organization, who deserve the same. One hopes the associates of this long time career criminal, who will say anything, do anything to stay out of prison until he can find a way to skip town and flee the country with as much money as he can grift from foolish people who still believe that the Pyramids were built by Aliens from another world because they are so small minded and uneducated as to believe that no humans have, on this planet, ever in history achieved the education equivalent to conceive, plan, and build such imposing structures from their own minds, but must have all been just as stupid as they are as people by choice and therefore could not have done it. These are the same people who insist that they must have the ability to buy automatic rifles " to hunt" for food when any sane hunter knows that if you can't hit a duck at 100 yards with a couple of shots from a single shot rifle firing into a flock of ducks, then you don't belong out there, because you are too dangerous to be allowed to buy anything that fires more rounds than that in a single burst muchless keep an arsenal of them with enough ammo to man a war time pill box by yourself. These are the kind of people Trump hires by his promises of pardons for any who support him....think about it, do really want these people holding any office? Deciding things for your safety and your family, your children?1 point

Get this through your thick fcking skull: Neither is Joe Biden. The real power in the USA is at home in DC planning his next frolic in Chicago. Joe Biden has been caught with his hands in the cookiejar and the claim that Hunter's laptop had nothing to do with the way folks cast ballots has already been determined as having "fixed" the supposed outcome. Your willful ignorance of this is absolutely Jonestownesque. A cult of lies perpetuated by fear and choked down everyone's throat by a bunch of petulant little cultists. Even beyond that - the south embraced slavery for the same reason. "We won't make as much from our crops if we have to pay a fair wage" is a BAD REASON to exploit people. And sure - you can do temp workers and get exemptions and still treat them fairly. CANADA does for heaven's sake, we have tonnes of crop pickers who come here for a season and then go back home to mexico having made more money than they would have at home, and if they're mistreated or underpaid and anyone finds out about it the penalties can be very harsh. Precisely. The "employee" must live under constant threat of being turned over or abused with limited recourse and nobody to even go to if they are in trouble that they're aware of. Formalize it, put rules in place that everyone agrees to, then protections to make sure the workers can report abuses and be protected against them. But NOOOOO - the democrats, supposed guardians of equity and fairness, insist that the only way this works is of we allow unfettered exploitation and today's version of indentured servitude. How very progressive. If it' s a racial issue then their argument is very similar to "We HAVE to enslave the darkies - they're too STUPID to survive on their own, they'd starve!" So change the effin' law. The dems are in power. You can't hide behind that.1 point

Ted Cruz is full of nonsense and nobody here is going to watch an hour of him lying in the US Senate. I watched as far as him claiming that democratically-elected President Lula of Brazil is anti-American. The truth is that Lula beat Jair Bolsonaro, who wanted to seize dictatorial control of Brazil. Let me put this as simply as possible: America needs to have trade and a warm, cordial relationship with Brazil and every other nation we can, because if we don't, Russia and China will. The US has embargoed Cuba for 60 years. Has that improved anything for the Cuban people?1 point

A memorial for what? There are no bodies. I posted the link where the indigenous themselves are blaming the media for the claims. They are absolving themselves form the body count. Your Arizona comparison is false. In the case of the Arizona, There were bodies and hence, a Memorial was dedicated. FFS, read the article. The indigenous nor anyone else have never found any bodies...none, zero, zip, 0. A "ground disturbance" is not a body. FFS, "beamed away by aliens"??? Man, are you ever tryigfn to make something of nothing LOL. I deny because there is no proof of mass graves or any graves in fact. Prove it otherwise. The fact is, there is lack of proof at all sites. Even the indigenous themselves have come to that conclusion. Show me the article and proof. Also, if the boys ran away and died on a frozen lake, it is kinda hard to prove and makes it only a "story". How is one supposed to react? One is supposed to react to proof, verification and not stories. The indigenous have retracted and blame media now. You are on a very small bandwagon (which is getting smaller) and unless you can offer substantial proof, you are are spreading false information.1 point

Oh, so you disagree with ONE of many examples, so I'm wrong? That's ridiculous. Many democracies around the world have failed. They fail when a dictator assumes power. The dictator is either elected, like Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, or stages a military coup. This has happened over and over. Citizens in a democracy need to be very wary of voting for "strong leaders" who speak like dictators, who make ridiculous promises and pretend only they can save you from an imaginary threat.1 point

There are plenty of Republicans who see a problem with how the Trump regime tried to force a constitutional crisis to stay in power in January 2021. Conservative support institutions, radicals say the cops and judges are in on it and get rid of them..1 point

I don' t know if it's changed much - it's always had a weird duality. There's the Worker's ndp which stands up for blue collar workers, workers rights, low and middle class Citizens, etc etc. Then there is the activist NDP side which is all about ideology, Wokeism, that sort of thing. Over the years those two different Sides have been stronger one way or another. For example Layton was certainly more of the workers every day man and the poor class supporter. Nowadays it's more about wokeism, and the Truckers represented a threat to the left-wing woke concepts of the day. I doubt very much that Jack layton would have supported the emergency act being used. I suspect that at some point in the future they will shift back to being the low and middle class worker party again. But right now they are social justice warrior left-wing activist party1 point

You're very confused. Third world countries have unelected dictators who place themselves above the law. This is not "third world" behavior. This is the way things work in a nation of laws. Rich, poor, powerful or powerless, all are meant to be held to the same standard. Neither being a president nor running for the office puts one above law, but that is what you are arguing. Trump has broken many laws, betrayed his oath of office and betrayed the American people. For all of this, he's being prosecuted, not persecuted.1 point

Historically in these coalitions - whether they're coalitions or non coalition coalitions - the junior partner does very badly in the next election. I think what we'll probably see if things continue as they are is very very low voter turn out for the libs and dips among their remaining loyal voter base. I suspect that what little voter turnout there is will be split and the CPC will tend to win the ridings. USUALLY liberal voters who are disgusted with the lib party will split between ndp and conservative but in this case i think the libs won't go ndp, they'll just stay home. This has the makings of a true blue wave, similar to what we saw when mulroney won. Too soon to say by far but it's certainly shaping up like that.1 point

Y2K , the night before was most likely a sleepless night for most in a position of power , me and my company spent it sleeping on the vehicle hanger floor waiting for that phone call...that never came... measure of success, praying to god that everything worked out as in Y2K is by no means a measure of success, they got lucky... Covid, there is just to many mistakes made by federal, provincial government to list...and in the end well over 700 bil was spent, with bils upon bils unaccounted for...shit all you had to do was apply and you received a nice check for staying at home...lets not mention sending our PP&E to china, giving China funding for a vaccine that was to smart, then paying top dollar to a European company to give us limited access...on top of that we learned some valuable lessons, like life saving medical machines, and our own medicine supply was in jeopardy, still is today....our emergency preparedness shelves are bare, still are...i have not even touched on all the mistakes made...and there is lots of them... did we survive, sure we did, but at what cost, a convoy, a huge hit to our economy, our dollar, 700 plus billion dollars spent on stupid stuff...sorry thats not success, thats getting lucky once again...1 point

If I think it'll translate into a minority government - that's been my desired outcome for decades now. Minority governments simply have less power. I'm ideologically inclined towards the left but not the least bit partisan, especially federally. I'm pretty much just focused on the relationship between the governed and the government and a lot more oversight for the former over the latter.1 point

She is being prosecuted by the Crown, not the Prime Minister. The issue was did she commit mischief? Again, we presume the defendent is innocent unless proven guilty. The excuse that someone can commit a criminal offence to protest government policy was the excuse used by the SLA to rob banks. Fear, pounded into kids, every day? Get a grip. You folks sure attach a fearful amount of weight to the word fear. I imagine by now there are researchers researching the effects of parent's fears and anger about vaccines and government mandates and conspiracies on their kids. We've already seen research and reports on how vaccine misinformation and subsequent hesitancy caused hundreds of thousands of cases along with thousands of hospitalizations and deaths in the general population along with scholarly studies showing where ideology factored into higher rates of cases, hospitalizations and death from COVID. What about kids who were cooped up with parents that lost their grip during COVID?1 point

The only trickle down economics is the Democrat WELFARE STATE. Jobs went overseas because major corporations had accountants who decided it was cheaper to locate a factory in the FAR FUGGING EAST than it was to pay DemoNazi taxes here in the States.
