This point has been lost in all this - it is a point that involves medical ethics. The safety and efficacy standards for medical interventions for HEALTHY people, must be much higher than for unhealthy people. We don't recommend chemo to prevent cancer because the chemo itself is not good for the body. A person who is battling a terminal disease or illness will naturally be happy to assume more risk from an intervention because the cost/benefit analysis FOR THEM is quite different. The medical ethic that has been lost during covid is not doing the cost/benefit analysis for anyone. Forcing a medical intervention on HEALTHY people where the benefit is low or unknown and the risks are unknown, is completely different and has always been properly viewed as medical malfeasance.2 points

Your mind and many others here was made up a long time ago. Bombarded by media that did not fact check all of their stories, and published a lot of false news about the entire convoy, things like Nazi flags, arson attempts, acts terrorism, not to mention the positive messages coming from the PMO office. Was the convoy a good idea not really...but it happened time to move on. Yes the residents have been traumatized, some of them in deep therapy from there experiences, all that noise day after day, how they were afraid to go out side, some crying for days on end, their lives turned upside down, I can not imagine how do they cope with daily city construction, or city noise themselves, there should be a huge compensation package, these people paid a price... ....because the conveyers were big bad men...lets not forget the big bad women, or those terrifying children running around yelling and screaming on bouncy castles and swimming in hot tubs. , all of whom for some reason are not in therapy at all, they managed to sleep in all this, but the people who chose to live there next to the parliament the center of the universe for our nation, home to every demonstration in the capitol , let alone all the holidays or musical festivals, held there each year...with much larger crowds than the convoy could ever imagine and some how after living through all that they have become damaged people becasue of big bad convoy people and their families......maybe they were inconvenienced, some even touched emotionally, and yet they choose to live there in a vast city where there are much quieter neighborhoods. maybe they should have atleast ask the question whats the neighborhood like... Nobody was held hostage... Ottawa citizens had complete freedom of movement, the police patrolling the streets made sure of that, Most citizens avoided going there due to the congestion and police barricades. sure there were a few asshats among the convoy crowd, I'm sure there was a few on the other side as well. Not all Ottawa citizens had a negative experience, there are thousands of video's out there of city residents going down town to have a look and actually enjoying themselves go F****ing figure. But that does not fit the media message does it.2 points

The judge who led the commission, Paul Rouleau is a member of the LIberal Party, worked for Liberal John Turner's campaign in the 80's after Pierre Trudeau stepped down, and got his current job as ON justice by being hand-picked by PM Paul Martin for it. He was hand-selected by Justin Trudeau to lead this commission. The PM got to choose the judge who would investigate him ? Trudeau is a tyrant.2 points

Far worse protests and occupation happened in Portland and the liberals rolled out the welcome mat. It’s all about whether they like your views. Trudeau made it clear that opposition views to government policies were unacceptable, that protests against policies are concerning, and he hurled insults at millions of Canadians, painting them with the same brush, calling them racist and misogynist without evidence. That was how his government handled very legitimate opposition at a time when people were exhausted and aching for a loosening of restrictions. Many rights were stripped from citizens in the name of safety, from medical discretion to freedom of movement, and people lost their jobs because they didn’t take a mandated vaccine. We watched what happened and the government toadies who encouraged what was clearly government overreach, perhaps full blown totalitarianism. Left wing influencers called it out but our heavily funded legacy media toed the government party line. I know what happened because I watched carefully. Canadians weren’t treated as individuals with rights, including the right of free speech and protest. Instead they were humiliated and put down with martial law. New crimes were applied retroactively for acts that weren’t offences when they were committed. Bank accounts were frozen. So much happened that was wrong and so much failure of leadership was on display. Trudeau could’ve manned up and talked to the protesters. He threw a grenade at them, ran, and hid.2 points

FYI I'm not an anti-vaxer. I have all my vaccines and so does my kid. I'm not even against the covid jab. If 20M Canadians want it, I say let them have it. Even on the taxpayer dime. I'm against vax-fascism, and you, sapper, are a vax-fascist.2 points

Do you have any concept how unfair, denigrating, and judgemental your comments are? The protest was against vaccine mandates and restrictions at a time when Omicron was the mild unstoppable variant the vaccines did little to quell. The Liberal party that I always thought was at the centre has become a tyrannical leftist party of ridiculousness. The Convoy protests were understood even on the US intellectual left as a peaceful protest against government overreach. The blockades were the worst aspect of it, but they were removed before the declaration of martial law. Anyone honest with a reasonable perspective saw what unfolded. The inquiry was the official state whitewashing by Liberal loyalists.2 points

I can read, and believe it or not i can see , the real question is do you really understand that definition, and while they may have meet some of those factors they clearly did not meet the major ones. What is clear that the government would have been the first to use that as they were scrambling to look for an excuse and finally found that in the Emergency act...not the terrorism act. Second No one was charged with any terrorist or terrorist related charges...not during or after, can you explain that? I'm not a lawyer, but the government did throw at them every charge they could think of, and yet no terrorism charges... one last fact , one needs to be in a terrorist organization before one can be called a terrorist. and i don't recall the convoy being declared a terrorist organization, they called it many things white supremist, misogynistic, racist, a few others but not a terrorist organization. School board trustees are said to be the 'overseers of curriculum and program delivery'. They have nothing to do with the actual curriculum for obvious reasons. However, each individual school board makes up their own 'code of conduct'. The problems began when not long ago this particular board also created their own 'human rights policy' along with how they planned on implementing it. So you can either use your imagination on what this 'implementation' looks like, or... refer back to that lengthy investigation report that you provided a link to. Not only was Lynda Stone blind sided by a combination of the code of conduct and newly created human rights policy, but another trustee by the name of Paul Crawford was as well. Both at the same time. And that's how you rid yourself of speech you don't agree with. Because you can.2 points

You have to be either right wing or left wing and how dare you think for yourself. Both sides have good (and bad) points and real thinkers will see that and act on what is correct for them. Political evangelism has become the norm and is tearing countries apart. "Political correctness (or cancel culture as we call it today) is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." Obama is not Biden. And from what I've read Putin intended to invade Russia all along but was waiting for Trump's second term so he could pull the US out of NATO. The idea Putin would be in any way, shape or form worried about a guy who said he trusts Putin more than he trusts US intelligence agencies and the US military is laughable.1 point

There are many studies that answer this. On the Trickle thread, someone said that the virus causes more myo than the vaccine and I posted at least 5-6 studies that show otherwise. I doubt they changed their mind at all, so kudos to you for actually following the science. ? The only thing I will caution you about, if you're interested in the studies and data - is to first check the conflicts of interest and work history of the authors. The only study that the person on my thread posted, that said myo was higher from the virus, was funded by Pfizer, authored by people funded by Pfizer. I also have information on there about how to read medical studies and what to watch for. Up til now, it's really only small, independent doctors and scientists conducting unbiased studies. Now those smaller studies are being combined into metastudies, so the data is becoming much more clear and undeniable. A lot of the best, most well-put-together, unbiased, non-Pharma funded studies have been done in countries with no horse in the race - the Nordic countries, Thailand and India for example. Japan, as well. Have fun. ? I hope you find more studies and want to discuss them. I hope I see you on the Trickle thread.1 point

Good points, but let's not forget Georgia (also under Obama's watch). The meddling by the governments of Russia and China isn't as much about who wins but rather in eroding the integrity of our elections, and our rights to free speech. Look at the US which has politically polarized itself over what it perceived to be Russian interference with the purpose in getting Trump elected. In effect, it completely handcuffed the Trump administration with the subsequent investigations, impeachments, amid the constant harping of him being an illegitimate president. And not only that, how much have our rights to free speech been eroded by this campaign to stamp out 'misinformation'? What about the politicization of institutions such as the FBI? Can anyone doubt that our enemies of freedom are winning and we're all beginning to look more and more like them every day?1 point

There are a lot of people who went all-in on backing the vaccines. The CDC, the Dems, our LPOC, our MSM and "science" (a sentient being now, don'cha know) in both countries all backed the vaccines 100%, even going so far as to unequivocally advocate for forcing healthy young adults to vaccinate when we already knew that people in that demographic were at no risk from covid. Then they advocated for small children to be vaxed, even though only 11 kids had died of covid in Canada between Jan 2020 and Dec of 2021. That's 11 kids in 2 years... Did they need a vax? You're a rare bird for even acknowledging this possibility after all this time, but you can do it without consequence. What about all of those mentioned above? How bad do they all look if this truly comes to light? How much does it cost them to admit that their advice may have grievously harmed or killed a lot of healthy children and young adults? How easy is it for them to keep up with their current "narratives"? If this does get out, it will be a slow trickle over the next few years, and then it's gonna be Donald's fault. After all, he was the one who invoked the prep act and Operation Warp Speed, right? Only after enough time has elapsed that we can all forget who pushed the vax mandates will we start to get to the bottom of this.1 point

Why would you think that? They undertake a journey of incredible hardship to seek asylum here. You really think one minor obstacle will change that calculus? Honestly, the wall is a fantasy sold for the sake of politics. It's not and never had been a practical solution. The cost, the maintenance, the property rights, the inefficacy and on and on. Nobody who seriously studied it had and expectation that it would work. And indeed it didn't. Trump built hundreds of miles of new wall and took a victory lap, and still illegal crossings soared. It just doesn't work. It's a simplistic idea to score political points with a certain type of voter. https://www.cato.org/blog/border-wall-didnt-work1 point

Have a look at the article on how Communist China has been working to keep the Liberal left government in Canada in power. Communist China prefers to see Canada go leftist and authoritarian and against freedom. Notice how the media doesn't say it like that. They only say there has been some interference in Canada's election process but are careful to not say Communist China has been working to keep the Liberals in power. So, if anyone has any doubts about just how important Justin Trudeau considers election interference - on his behalf - by China, you need only see his response to the Globe and Mail story. In response to The Globe story, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters at a Friday news conference that he expects CSIS to find out who is leaking the secret reports, and stuck to his long-held view that Chinese interference operations did not affect the overall results of the 2019 and 2021 elections. Yeah, that's right. He couldn't care less about what China is doing. His only concern is, as always, himself and his reputation. What a piece of work this guy is. Meanwhile, China is warning its 'Canadian friends" to stay away from MPs temporarily as they know CSIS is looking into Chinese influence in politics. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-chinese-diplomats-warned-canadian-friends-to-scale-back-influence/1 point

I have lived in various societies - from Russia to Lebanon and indeed Canada. IMHO, the best measure of civility/democracy in society is not voter-turn out - it is whether people pay their taxes. No one likes to pay taxes. But when people pay their taxes, they in effect vote for the State. In Montreal city elections, voter turn out is around 25%. But most people pay their hydro bill and property taxes. In other places like the Soviet Union and Cuba and Venezuela, people find a way to avoid taxes. In Australia and America, people generally pay. === Ukraine? It is like Nigeria. No one in Ukraine pays taxes if they don't have to. In Russia, most people - not all - pay their taxes. I know that this is strange to hear but it is true. Of course, no one in Russia pays taxes the same way that a Canadian does. Indeed, Lebanese and Greeks in Canada and America and Australia are surprised even proud to pay taxes.1 point

Basic human rights came through Judeo-Christian civilization down through history. It is the concepts that came from the Bible such as the love of neighbour and respect for individual rights which are implied in the ten commandments as one example. Countries such as China, Russia, and Islamic countries in Africa and the middle east do not have human rights such as an elected government, a fair justice system, right to vote, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and freedom of the press. Non-Christian countries simply do not believe in the sanctity of individual rights in the way western nations do. These rights are generally non-existent in non-Christian countries. These rights did not appear instantly, but developed over time.1 point

I watched enough to get the gist of it. They think that they need to get their settlers out of the west bank and back to the 1967 lines in order to have peace with the Palestinians. There are so many there now that it just keeps getting harder and harder to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Sure. Would it work? Would the Palestinians and their religious bigot horde all across the rest of the world support a peace deal with Israel? Absolutely not. They'd kill 8M Jews in a heartbeat and they'd never feel bad about it. Have you not been watching? Does Pakistan have remembrance ceremonies for the 8 million that they committed genocide against in 1947? Do they have remembrance ceremonies for the 3 million that they killed in a second genocide in 1971? Do you think they'd care if they massacred another 8M people? Of course not. If you don't know that then you don't know the ME/far east. Aside from that, these are 6 guys who feel bad at the end of their careers about all the killing they did. I get that it was probably a lot, and that it's always emotional for people who were raised with some form of regard for life. Even the most violent bigots that they kill suddenly understand the value of life, and feel uncertainty about life after death, when they have a gun in their face, but if you don't kill them then they show up at an Ariana Grande concert with some bombs. What do ya do? It's kind of easy, but at the same time, it's just not, because you can't put your humanity on hold to do your duty. It's hard for them not to think about the faces of the men they killed, or the crying kids left behind when they dragged a 'daddy' to jail for his role in a terrorist attack. That's all an aside though, because the fact remains, we shouldn't have rags like the G & M here glorifying violent bigotry/terrorists. Right? Not at all. And I'll say it again - that wasn't a "brave 13 yr old", that's a human that has been raised to be a violent bigot since he was born. He's not like you or I. Getting a career and raising a family aren't goals for him. He will consider himself a failure if he doesn't murder people because of their religion. Peace is not on his radar. While your mom and dad were raising you to play with other kids and get along, kids like him were being raised to hate Jews like cancer, and to kill them whenever possible. You can be glad that you weren't raised to be a violent bigot, but if you were, there's a really huge chance that you'd be a violent bigot. One more thing - there's no such thing as "Palestinian refugee camps". They've had since 1950 to find a home, when there were less than 800,000 of them. The Pakistanis killed ten times that many people in just one of their genocides, they should be glad the Israelis are their "enemies". Think how many refugees from islamic state were re-settled in different countries in just a year... Why couldn't the Palestinians find homes in 70 years????? (And why did muslims have to flee from islamic state in the first place? They weren't in nearly as much danger as Hindus and Sikhs were from Pakistan's armies.) The 'Palestinian refugees' are just political pawns used to foment hatred against Israel. You should feel sad for the Israelies because eventually there will be a massive slaughter. If not in our lifetimes, definitely at some point in the future. Hatred against them is just too strong, and it only takes 1 really bad day for their defences to be overrun. They can't defy the odds for 1,000 years, and violent religious bigotry isn't going out of style. Hell, islamic state almost took over two large countries in the last decade. Genocide isn't the rare bird we'd all like to believe.1 point

If Canada can't control who comes across its borders then it has no sovereignty. If international agreements prevent you from enacting policies you want in order to protect your border then back out of the agreements. If you're a legit refugee then present yourself at an official border port of entry and make a refugee claim like everyone else. You'll be given a health card and a work visa. If you're not a legit refugee claimant you shouldn't be admitted into the country. If you're coming from a safe 3rd country you should not be admitted into Canada until your claim is processed and approved, which it won't be because the refugee laws say you're not allowed to "refugee shop" and keep bouncing from western country to western country every time your claims are rejected looking to get lucky and for someone to slip up and accept you because of your bogus claim.1 point

So I read this article earlier this morning and was waiting for someone to post about it. Two things that stuck out: 1) It's clear the PRC worked to support the Liberals over the Conservatives, much like the Russians supported the Republicans over the Democrats. 2) It's interesting that their desired outcome wasn't a Liberal majority, but rather a Liberal minority, as a weak and disharmonious Canada government is easier to manipulate. What's problematic here, I think, is how permissive Canada seems to have been over the last 15-20 years. I never understood why it took years for Canada to finally ban Huawei. I don't understand why we allow Chinese quasi-police stations in Canada to monitor and influence their expats and students here. Has anyone ever been to Pacific Mall in the GTA? It's a 50% black market, and law enforcement just turns a blind eye. I don't get this lazy (or cowardly) complacency from the Liberal governments.1 point

Here's how effective the jabs were at protecting kids: There was no vaccine for children under 12 for all of 2020 and all of 2021. The chart above is from Dec 10th, just 3 weeks after the Pfizer jab was approved for 5 yr olds. https://globalnews.ca/news/8332426/pfizer-vaccine-covid-children/ So the chart above shows that there were only 11 covid deaths among kids 0-11 after two full years worth of exposure to covid. Between the time when the Pfizer jab was approved for small children (Nov 18 2021) and November 7 of the next year, just a bit under 1 full year, 30 more small children died "of covid". 1) 11 deaths in 2 full years with no jab, 2) 30 additional deaths in just one year after the jab. I'll choose option 1, thanks.1 point
