  1. Today i raised my glass of beer to lost brothers, and sisters, I sat around a table full of comrades where we told war stories, most of them funny, some of them sad. and how bad we all miss them. This Remembrance Day was different i took with me a good friend of mine, son, he turned 19 this year, his dad was killed not far from me in a fire fight, he has been bugging me to bring him along for a long time now, he's been wanting to meet all his dads' friends, and since we live all across Canada and only meet up once or twice a year, i finally said yes... anyways he learned what his dad was like, what kind of man he was , and how good of a soldier he was. it was a time he'll never forget, like everyone he drank way too much, his mother is pissed at me for bringing him home in that condition, but she'll get over it, I hope. Remembrance Day is not only for those that have passed on, but let's also include those that have been left behind let's not forget their pain and suffering . To those that did not come home cheers. To those that got left behind cheers. May we never forget you.

  2. I'm not very good at articulating the why so i'll give it to you in Military speak, a leader must be able to talk to the great minds of our times, and also to the private on the ground, he must know their strengths and weakness, their culture, their religion, everything that makes them tick, we never know who we will be discussing anything with be it about hostages, trade, economics, to peace or war. we don't need them to approve of us, but we do need them to respect us, at least enough to converse. If not, then we only leave the use of force as the first and only choice. One does not have to have a large Military to be respected, and we have often used hard power to make our point such as in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Haiti (coup) and peace keeping, Yugo the list goes on. It goes beyond threats or use of force, if you take away another nation ability to take you serious then like i have said before all that is left is force, be it military or sanctions etc. why would you not want our nation's leaders to at least uphold a standard that has been set by previous PMs as a code of conduct. Canadians have been talking about Justins actions for a while now, not just a drag queen tv show, acts like taking a knee for BLM, going to Pride parade, convoy, his nick name sock boy, where did that come from, etc, all effect how our nation is seen globally, and domestically. it affects the outcome of everything the PM touches or handles.

  4. Perfectly said! Justin Trudeau (unfortunately) has the job of representing all of us. I am personally embarrassed that the Prime Minister will be appearing on this show. I agree with you that we have collectively become desensitized to this level of BS, and let it go by, rather than speaking out. The image that this type of behvaviour paints is of a country of weak, effeminate men; and a vacuous leader with with no substance.

  5. I don't care about this story. But he never gives up a chance to signal his virtue. His entire life he's had VIP access to the healthcare system, hasn't had to worry about money, or a job. Frat boy has the political priorities of a college student. Legalize weed dude.

  6. As always, the devil is in the details. How do you give people options and protect them at the same time. For starters, I don't think MAID should be "offered" to anyone, it should be up to them to ask for it and go from there.

  7. I think it's more complicated than good vs. bad. The article brings out important details, such as support being available to people who are marginalized and who seek death as an improvement over their current circumstances. But with help their circumstance could change and they'd decide against MAID. That aspect isn't at play so much with people who are going to die regardless of medical intervention. I have to say this article did make me think about whether I support unfettered right to choose death.

  8. Who's killing the mentally ill? The article is about giving them the opportunity to choose to die, and whether that's really a good idea. Phrasing it as "Trudeau wants to kill them" is dishonest.

  10. That was an interesting article, providing thoughtful comments on MAID, it's ethics, the motives and experiences of those seeking MAID, and the process by which we got here. But of course, simplistic partisanship wouldn't allow for an actual "discussion" of a complex topic, but rather must phrase it as "that hateful Trudeau, look what he's done now" and disallowing any nuance in the resulting "conversation".

  12. I know, but at least borrowing could take some of the edge off for the poor among us. I'm just an ordinary citizen. It's not my job to figure out what works. That should be the job of government. But I can see where the problems are, and right now there are so many I could write until my thumb falls off. And yet I am certain if an election were held today his supporters would give him the win. We get the government we deserve, in a demockracy

  13. Me either, but he doesn't seem interested in rolling up his sleeves and getting to work for Canadian people. If he did that I wouldn't give a sh** what he does in his spare time. This week the feds walked out on a premier's meeting in BC to discuss the crisis in health care. Canadians are in the midst of an emergency and need big money to fix big problems. Other countries have borrowed to ease inflation and keep cost of living down. Meanwhile our playboy PM is distracted.

  14. Trudeau's solution to the mentally ill's strain on health care is to kill them. What kind of sick society are we turning in to? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-maid-canada-mental-health-law/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

  15. Look this dude is a drooling imbecile too dumb to realize the time has passed. So stunned he thinks Nazis are leftist, black teachers are allowed to physically assault students and things like the Gerber baby are real people. Obviously mad as a hatter, probably rants about ethanol in his gasoline because he's suffering withdrawals from the lead fumes he grew up on.

  17. I'll give you the rolling "covid deaths by vaccination status" stats for two different months this year. I'll leave you to figure out how many people died from each category from month to month, and what % of the total deaths were from each category. If you care about covid, and about people dying, this should be of interest to you. If you have an IQ of 140 it should take but a minute, and you obviously have ample time. SO you tell me genius, what do you make of this data, which Statista gets right from the infobase Canada site?

I cannot imagine what it would be like to fight in that war, at least in our wars we could escape, or move on to the next operation. those guys needed balls of steel to go over the top, and a huge mental health reserve to cope with the horrors they must have seen. These guys set the standard of what it means to be infantry, one day i hope to sit down in the afterlife at a table full of these guys and share a keg of beer.

  25. I gather you’re unaware that without NATO’s intervention, Ukraine would have lost the war, probably by early March. And it’s only the USA’s “generosity” that keeps them fighting. You've got to give it to Zelensky though, he’s mastered the art of extending a hand and asking for more money and weapons… to the tune of what? 65+B? With zero accountability, which works well for him, considering Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Maybe stop relying so much on western propaganda. How many months now we’ve been told Russia is losing? They may be losing, but so is the rest of the world, at least economically. Europe’s stubbornness in teaching Putin a lesson is ridiculous, shouldn’t those “leaders” care about their own instead of preaching something they hardly practice?

  28. I'm 100% certain that I do not know any drag queens. It seems to be another thing being forced onto society just like the trans gender stuff we are constantly bombarded with. Headed into the public schools too. Personally, I am most concerned about the state of the economy and the cost of living. There are other issues of course. But I feel Trudeau's policies are exacerbating inflation, specifically his ever-increasing carbon taxes. Trudeau also plans to regulate the internet in Canada which is a giant red flag. Bills C-11 and C-18 should concern all Canadians - YouTube Justin Trudeau's priorities - YouTube You are no doubt aware that JT has publicly stated that China is the country that he most admires. He should raise his standards. But then the Trudeau's have always admired dictatorships, haven't they?

Photo ops are right up Trudeau's alley. No time for enacting common-sense policies or dealing with serious issues.

  33. it doesn't tho borrowing more simply devalues the dollars which they are paid while their wages are not rising at anywhere near the same rate so borrowing at this juncture is simply making the poor poorer meanwhile, the asset holders, the comparatively wealthy, make out like bandits, in the real estate & stock markets

  34. Why do you watch that crappy Fox News? It is not news. Read the full sentence: She wrote that “While she worked at a left-wing organization.” But the headline skews that to make it appear that this is a Biden Administration statement. This is the reason America is so divided.

  35. that doesn't work inflation is caused by too many dollars flooding into the economy, without a corresponding increase in productivity more dollars chasing the same or fewer products, simply bids all the prices up across the board flooding more dollars into the economy simply throws gasoline on the fire the only way to ease inflation, is to raise interest rates well above the inflation rate to remove dollars from the economy, inciting demand destruction, lowering prices across the board the economy is so debt burdened by this point however, that doing so would incite a massive deflationary correction so the central banks are now trapped, in a puzzle of their own making

  36. 1. What minority? Cross dressers aren't a minority, they're entertainers. If he marched in the AIDS walk or Pride that would be ok with me. 2. Ok, that supports my point. And a calculated move to appeal to a group that already knows his positions is bad strategy too IMO 3. Nobody is hurt, nor is it in poor taste. It's just not a good look to appear on a kind of TV party when we're enmeshed in levels of crisis. 4. Well, no. Nor would we if he went to a state funeral or a retirement home. We would be taking about it if he went on So You Think You Can Dance or The Masked Singer though. Context.

  37. A reasonable take from someone with basic humanity and intellectual curiosity. FOX news posts these stories to perpetuate controversy and stoke outrage. It's not posted to start dialogue about what might be correct or incorrect about the statement. This is the problem with MSM and how we get culture wars.

  38. Let's talk for a minute about how you come to your beliefs. You say things like "If you really want to know the truth..." How did you come to believe what you describe as the truth? By your own admission, you don't have the science to evaluate it on your own, and in scientific communities the creationist claptrap is not even considered a scientific question. It's not taken seriously at all. People like Behe are laughingstocks and their arguments have been thoroughly dismantled by peer reviewed science. And among biologists (all the disciplines, actually) there is overwhelming confidence in evolution as both scientific theory and fact. It's not controversial, or a question, but foundational science like a Yes there are a few extreme outliers who (nearly all from a religious perspective) who have learned some science and put it to work trying to reconcile their faith with the evidence of the natural world. (It's sort of the opposite of science, and it's also not really necessary, but that's beside the point.) If you, as a layperson who lacks science, went to 100 biologists, they'd likely all be happy to explain evolution to you. You MIGHT find one "intelligent design" proponent in the mix if you stopped by Liberty University or something. But even if you found that outlier, why does it seem logical for you to latch on to the extreme heterodoxy as "truth" instead of what the overwhelming majority of experts tell you? You lack the science to discern yourself, but choose the extreme outlier? Why? It's not logic. There is no rational reason to make that choice. Rather, for whatever reason, you feel that evolution as an explanatory theory represents a threat to your religious beliefs. And rather than accept new information and revise your beliefs you will reject the information. So forgive me when I say it's hard to take your seriously when you say things like, "If you really want to know the truth." That's not ever going to be a compelling argument. Sort of like recommending that people watch propaganda to get at the truth of politics. And FWIW, everything above applies to the climate change conversation as well. It's no longer a question for the scientific community. So why would you choose to latch onto heterodoxy? Where is the application if reason?

  39. I've been putting it off now for a long time, up until his mother got remarried, i was sort of filling in when i could, he's a good kid, and deserved much more than i gave him, His stepfather is in the military, and he is a good man, he's got no choice really, the regiment would bury him in the back forty if he had mistreated them. treats he like his own. I still try and make an effort to be in his life, he is so much like his old man that sometimes it hurts to visit him. I had to discuss it with all my comrades', some of which have PTSD hard, and just talking about the war can bring back some very bad memories, myself included, so sometimes these meeting turn into something else, fights, or emotional break downs, and tons of laughter remembering all the stupid funny stuff we did together. Our group is pretty tight, a few did not want the kid to see all the behind the scenes that Achol makes come out. But he took it like a champ. He knew what topics to stay away from, or i would change the subject before it really took hold. I hope to one day take my son to one of these get togethers soon. We don't go to any official ceremony, some of the guys don't like crowds, and are easily set off, PTSD can make you an a$$hole pretty quick and some in our group still have it pretty hard. A buddy has a 4-car garage, with a man cave upstairs, so we meet up there and have our own ceremony so to speak.

  40. Nope. The consistent theme is Trudeau grandstanding and supplicating himself before international organizations and foreign interests while ignoring the challenges of everyday Canadians. Taking jets and staying in 5 star hotels on the taxpayers’ dime is easier than showing up to a solemn event like a Remembrance Day ceremony to remember those who fought to defend our freedom.

  47. Sigh. What she's saying is not controversial or new. It's been studied extensively. For like offenses (and controlling for variables) a black child is more likely to face harsher consequences at school. So are boys relative to girls, for that matter. Which makes it rather like the justice system for adults as well, in which Blacks (and especially Black men) are more likely to be convicted and also face harsher penalties for the same crimes. Our justice system is racist. School discipline is racist. Systemic racism is baked into most of daily life. It doesn't me we don't need or want those things, but we can and should do better to achieve equitable treatment.

  48. No. Borodino was a large pitched battle, ending in a pyrrhic victory for Napoleon over the Russian army, prior to their capturing Moscow. The Russian army withdrew, scorched the earth behind them, and then the Grande Armée starved and froze in their hundreds of thousands. In the subsequent retreat back to France, almost none of them made it back. This was the end of Napoleon's Empire, aside from a brief resurgence that ended at Waterloo. It is a major plot point in Tolstoy's War and Peace. I think DoP wants to draw parallels to this in Ukraine or...something, except in this case Russia appears to be France and he doesn't realize that.

  49. Ah yes, the fabled General Winter, who's decimated so many invading armies on the Eastern Steppes. The difference this time? Russia is the one doing the invading, with the longer (and more stressed) supply lines. Russia is the one in hostile territory with unmotivated, poorly trained and poorly equipped troops trying to invade a country that's already very well acquainted with Russian Ukrainian Winter.
