The root cause of people turning to fake news is that every media outlet is not just determined to report the news but to persuade us to their narrative, whatever that narrative might be. The mainstream media won't deliberately tell an untruth, but they don't have any issue with lying by omission. They will tell you the parts of the story that will make you lean towards their narrative, if possible, and try to avoid the parts which could persuade you to lean the other way. They will also quote selected people - the ones that further their narrative, and not the others. It will cover things out of proportion to their news value to continually poke at you to agree with their views. And it will do stories specifically based on getting your agreement with their views. Through all of this the mainstream media has engendered a lot of doubts about the accuracy and truthfulness of the news they present,4 points

....with CENSORSHIP! I'm sick and tired of it! Livid with being held hostage by a mostly biased, if not leftist propaganda Liberal or ANTI-CONSERVATIVE machines! Who the heck voted for this GLOBAL NEWS idiot - David Aikin - to censor what I'm trying to hear? I want to hear what Poilievre was going to say, not some freakin undisciplined and unethical trashy reporter from Global News yapping it up - disrupting and being disrespectful not only to Poilievre, but especially to................................. ME - the viewer! I didn't interrupt my routine to hear a freakin reporter with his issues! I was there to hear what this candidate for PM was going to say! If this immature, UNPROFESSIONAL man who calls himself a journalist wants to question Poilievre - then, freakin get in line, idiot! I want to listen to Poilievre's message - not your stupid questions! I'm not the only one! Btw..... Have you apologised to Mr Poilievre?3 points

1) TBH I just went back and looked and she did reference her religious beliefs. I'll give you a score of 100% on that one. 2) One is wearing white - which is traditionally the bridal colour, and the other is wearing black - which is traditionally the groom's colour. Then I just assumed everything other intimate detail of their marriage based on that. It's pretty solid logic to base a dumb joke on. 3) Ladies in a position of prominence are in short supply since Lizzy died. Look at all of the icons of the late 20th and early 21st centuries... It's a sad state of affairs. The Senator of Rhode Island twerked upside-down in a campaign ad earlier this year and it wasn't even a big deal. My generation valued hard work and was never keen on entitlement. We're not trending in the right directions imo, and the wokest are the worst among us. 4) The woke are generally pathetic by almost every meaningful measure. They're the "peaceful protesters". They support a MSM and FBI that have gone horribly wrong. They support fascism and ignore actual suffering while pretending to be empaths. I have less respect for wokies than I do for snakes, and I'm just neutral on snakes - they're at zero.2 points

Some people in Colorado signed a contract which basically says "In exchange for the sum of $100, I agree not to use my $10,000 A/C unit when it gets too hot outside" ??? I laugh, but I've never read a EULA when I started using a App on my phone.... ?1 point

Though I have applauded the victory of Poilievre (more so because I see him as the one to end Trudeau's reign), the most recent thread by our friend Michael Hardner had me facing something I can't ignore. It gnawed on me as I did my walk (and after reading Michael's post). The picture is quite disturbing for me, as a born-again. Had Poilievre just simply admit being pro-choice and pro-same-sex marriage, and had left it at that - it would've been different.....after all, he is entitled to his own free will. If he'd appointed LGBTQs, I suppose that wouldn't have mattered either. But to "celebrate" in them, as what that photo had struck in me, is quite another matter. I speak from my Christian perspective. I suppose it's the same rationale why a baker wouldn't bake a cake for same-sex marriage. To do so, is to participate in the celebration or acceptance of what's not acceptable to our God. This verse was what kept intruding during my walk. Romans 1 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them. I cannot give my validation, let alone my approval. Come Federal election, I'll just sit it out. I cannot give my vote to any of them.1 point

Quebec has no choice in the matter. The federal government has full authority over getting goods to port. Quebec's oil supply has recently been threatened by Michigan. I think that provides an opening for the feds to persuade Quebec not to go too apeshit on them over this.1 point

you need to change the culture upstream from politics the entire Canadian political class needs to be discredited all at once this will require a catastrophe something like the Great Depression1 point

as soon as the Conservatives are in office, they will adopt all the Liberal policies there is only one political class in Canada and they are all funded by the same entrenched interests1 point

It would appear as though you have a problem with gays in Pierre's conservative team. And here I thought that you were always the "woke" one here. I wonder as to how many gays are in the Liberal and NDP party's? And besides that, any leader of any party has to appear to be "woke" or else the lying and fake Canadian media will attack them for not being inclusive and diverse enough. Both those two words being all leftist liberal/socialist bullshit of course. I think that you need to calm down yourself, MH. Fyi MH, this conservative did not drop to the floor at all. Probably many of those woke leftist liberal/socialist arse holes did. Just saying. ?1 point

I'm simply quoting. What they. Are telling. The people in California to do. Facts are stubborn things. Solar panels might start to have a macro effect on the grid in a few years, but for now people are moving out of California in droves...1 point

I did clearly state that the US did make a huge contribution to winning the war. Without the effort of the US most or all of Europe may have been steamrolled by Stalin. Who knows how far Japan could have gone without the US military as an opponent. If you interpret that comment as me giving a big FU to Americans that gave their lives in the war effort then you got it wrong. Many countries made huge sacrifices during WW2. If you read anything I post on here I am certainly not anti-American and I am in fact a fan of the US. I just hate to see the country in decline thanks to poor leadership and foolish policies.1 point
-
America made a huge contribution to winning WW2 but most people forget we were allied with the brutal Russian dictatorship and this article states that it was the Russians that inflicted fully 75% of the total casualties against the Germans. GERMANY WAS DEFEATED ON THE EASTERN FRONT, NOT NORMANDY « Eric Margolis1 point

So the FBI didn't plot to kidnap Whitmer. That's for clearing that up. People don't get "entrapped" into kidnapping someone if they didn't want to do it in the first place.1 point
-
Okay, maybe the “flex alert” has been rescinded. The point is, California tells electric car owners not to charge their cars at times during the summer, because it puts a strain on their grid. Facts are stubborn things. My link above, from CBS, is from September 2, not 7. Beleive whatever makes you happy.1 point

You are disconnected from reality. Wake up. In California right now, they are telling people not to charge their electric cars because it’s putting a strain on the grid.1 point

It was just entrapment. The FBI never actually wanted to kidnap her or kill her. They got some guys high, gave them a plan to kidnap Whitmer, gave them money for guns, introduced them to an explosives expert, all so that they'd start to execute the FBI's plan and then the FBI could "foil their plot" and use the story to influence the election. The FBI could have found thousands of people to try to kill Trump, it just didn't benefit them in any way, unless they carried it out.1 point

I'm fine with numbers. I see inflation rising...and Biden on a spending spree. I see Biden still increasing the US deficit and debt, even though the great pandemic is over. I also see numbers that show more people dying of Rona related issues that did under Trump. And here's an interesting number. ZERO...the amount of measurable integrity shills generally have.1 point

So slimy even lawyers can’t stand him and even the Daily Mail can’t resist chirping up Florida lawyer brought in to defend Trump after Mar-a-Lago raid secures upfront payment of $3 MILLION - citing his proclivity for stiffing attorneys: Ex-president 'once tried to compensate counsel with a horse' Chris Kise, 57, joined Trump's legal team in August to represent him in the investigation into classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago On Thursday it was reported that Kise secured a $3 million advance for his legal work: the former president's refusal to pay for agreed services is infamous His former lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, wrote to Trump in January 2021 requesting the $2.5 million he says he is owed for his legal work During the campaign in 2016, USA Today uncovered more than 3,500 lawsuits filed over 30 years by people who said Trump and his companies failed to pay A new book out this week claims that, in the 1990s, Trump refused to pay one lawyer his $2.5 million fee, and instead offered him a horse as payment …Several lawyers approached by Trump's team turned down the job, fearing Trump would not listen to their advice, and would refuse to pay them… https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11218033/Florida-lawyer-brought-defend-Trump-Mar-Lago-raid-secured-upfront-payment-3-MILLION.html1 point

The point in #4 is that BC and Quebec have said they don't want more pipelines. We have to wonder why their stance is less important than Alberta's. Also, the US doesn't want it. It would make good business sense to conserve the oil in Alberta for a time when they have all the oil left in the world. Then they can charge what it is really worth.1 point

Western separation wasn't a big topic until Hitler V2.0 got elected here. The Bloc Quebecois tripled the size of their party since Hitler V2.0 got elected here.1 point

Isn’t that why we’re a country? It’s as much BC’s oil as it is Alberta’s. Just like BC’s ports are Alberta’s ports. Alberta benefits enormously from BC ports to bring in and export goods. BC doesn’t charge Alberta for the privilege. Nor does BC hang it over Alberta’s heads as if they’re just lucky BC allows them the use of their ports.1 point

Trudeau's been criticized heavily, both in the media and just generally, for his bromidic platitudes and vapid "sunny day" answers. Every time he opens his mouth I can pretty much pre-empt what he's going to say by stringing together words like, "As Canadians, we have to be look forward to the future and we can be proud of how Canadian we are in our hope for Canada and something something Unity blah blah blah."1 point

Yes, and if Betsy was to condemn and persecute as you just did in your post, Boges, you'd still be wrong. You want to talk about Christ? What did he say to the woman caught in sexual sin? "Go and sin no more". What tolerance did he show the money changers in the temple? He showed them the tolerance of the whip. What did Jesus say about adultery, sex outside of marriage? " You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not commit adultery. But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you, for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell." Are you sure you want to talk about Christ as if you support His world view? Because you'd be a hypocrite.1 point

We've all established that the history of black slavery in Canada is so insignificant that it's not really worth mentioning at this point. In a country of 40,000,000 people, we had a few hundred slaves here a couple centuries ago. Every other country, aside from the US, had tens of thousands of slaves for centuries. As far as being a non-slaving country goes, Canada has the best record of any country in the history of the world. As far as abolishing slavery goes, Britain and the US alone get the thanks for that, no other nation or empire ever did that when they were powerful. Now ya know.1 point
