What low level of support, Can you give a cite? Here's one from me. 46% of Canadians sympathize with trucker convoy Global News, Posted February 11, 2022 An Ipsos poll published Thursday and conducted exclusively for Global News showed that nearly 46 per cent of Canadians say they “may not agree with everything” the trucker convoy says or does, but the frustration of protesters is “legitimate and worthy” of sympathy. This sympathy has risen to 61 per cent particularly among Canadians aged 18 to 34, according to the poll. Looks like pretty good support. it makes sense that Canadians wold feel this way. Turdeau has done nothing to try and calm the situation, only fanned the flames with his dismissive, divisive comments. Canadians are taking note. (see poll)4 points

Yea needing to prove vaccination to go to a theatre creeped the hell out of me. I was already vaccinated at the time and wanted no part of that. The modern equivalent to 'your papers, please'. The protest should be framed not as left vs right but as authoritarism vs libertarianism. The woke left professes to be on the side of LGBT such as myself, but they are not. Authoritarianism leads to totalitarianism which is horrible for everyone, especially minorities.3 points

Nobody, however, made these rules G-d. As Myata said in Post 143 (link): The governments should be made to remember that they work for us. We don't work for them. The Covid emergency seems to have given government leaders the world around the belief that they could invoke the talisman "Covid" and order everyone around.3 points

Funny from past protests I thought conservatives were strongly opposed to protests that damaged the economy and put people out of work. I guess that’s only if the protesters are non white or something. Now they love them all of a sudden. Funny how things change.3 points
-
Of course...the protests are meant to be as disruptive as possible, using the same methods espoused by the left for their own "social justice" causes. Without disruption and economic pain points the message and focus is quickly lost, and no substantive change follows. "This is what democracy looks like".3 points

In the words of many on here "actions have consequences". As Ontario has put the creepy little bastard in charge of things, and have insisted that you shouldn't be able to stay employed without a vaccine, they can reap the consequences of having a major trade route disrupted. Even if the blockade comes down, it's still heavily blocked on the US side so good luck.2 points

It was not peaceful. They were hurting fellow Canadians. Hundreds of thousands of their fellow Canadians lost their jobs as a result of just one week blockade. A peaceful protest is to gather somewhere for a limited time, say what they wish to say and then LEAVE. This was not peaceful by any measure.2 points

Maybe going deep into what they are doing is not much helpful in answering the essential question: are mandates justified? Vaccines can be of help to many, no question. But are broad mandates, outside of very specific environments and professions a) justified and b) imposed in a due process? The second one is a clear no. There's no process for as much as anyone can tell. Someone in the back room jumps waves hands and that has to be the process. For the a), we need further answers: - Are they proportional to the problem? (we did not have mandates against flu and similar): no - Are they sufficiently effective in preventing the spread? (this relates to protection of others, rather than individual choice): not after a short period. - Are they necessary? (the only way to achieve the desired effect): no. There are jurisdictions, many of them that never had mandates. - Is there a clear process that allows to evaluate solutions by these criteria objectively and transparently: none (in two years and counting). Conclusion: mandates are not justified and were not imposed in a due process, objective and transparent to the society. This is an overreach and an arbitrary application of authority. Someone has to answer for this. Checks have to be designed and placed into the system to prevent from this happening again.2 points

So what? Most Canadians are white. It doesn’t make the protesters racist or privileged, and there’s a wide range of cultures and races in the protests. What sucky woke bullshit.2 points

They're indiscernable from the Liberals now. Might as well merge parties. Sad to see, NDP used to be a worker's party that I could support. They're nothing like that anymore.2 points

Nonsense. We had a guy by the name of Tristan Durocher travel 600km on foot, pitch a teepee and bring attention to suicides in the north. What did our politicians do? Same thing they are doing now. Filing an injunction to have him removed from his Parliment building and called him all sorts of names.1 point

Hence my response to myata. You have no one to blame but yourselves for having merely warned us for decades about the commie fascist Nazi's under our beds.1 point

All I can say is that if those patriotic truckers lose their battle against Marxist Trudeau, that system could be implemented and businesses would be forced to comply or go to jail or lose their business licence. We are not living in a free country anymore. Canada has become pretty much a Marxist state. We all need those truckers to win this battle against Marxist Trudeau or else. Our freedom and rights depend on that win. The political elite class in this country are now trying very hard to end this trucker protest by trying to force the truckers to call off their protest or face serious fines or imprisonment. ?1 point

Bla Bla Bla. There is sure a shortage of good faith on your part. All you do is whine and complain with nothing else to offer.1 point
-
Maybe you'd like to join the fight, get told you'lll face $100k in fines and 1 year in jail. Lose your rights to travel to the USA, and a criminal record. That is what you call exceedingly visceral and overly punitive measures. Let's hope it really backfires right in old PM Blackface's face.1 point

So police are simply walking towards protestors in Windsor and protesters are simply backing up. Oh the humanity.1 point

Little does Blackbird realize that he is supporting global great reset communism. This was never about a virus at all but it was more about trying to push big pharma vaccines and to take control and power over we the peasants. It is for sure that once we can get rid of all of these draconian covid mandates we will gain our rights and freedoms back. This will never get done until that dictator Trudeau either gives up his dictatorship or gets fired. Either one will work for me. ?1 point

This is a path of an aspiring dictator, in essence if not the letter. The society, a significant part of it rose an essential or even critical issue; as a democratic leader he did not respond in good faith, in honesty and with competence but chose to dismiss it out of hand. This is what dictators do. Assuming onto themselves to speak on behalf of the people too. He is a clear threat to whatever left of Canadian democracy, or was in the first place. This may line up as a crucial test of the country's democracy right here. To arrest and cease authoritarian aspirations; to create effective checks and oversight over the governments; or to slide to the level of third world. Our choice, our place, our time.1 point

Truckers demands: 1) Terminate vaccine passports 2) Terminate vaccine mandates 3) End divisive rhetoric Nothing there about "overthrowing the government", although it's not a bad idea in principle. I would add: 4) Dismiss Trudeua1 point

Brilliant and touching. Yet now people are talking about terms used in that clip and the "context". To them I say, 'Get a grip on reality'. The meaning of the vet's statement is crystal clear. It's a call for support for the cause of the convoy...Freedom. not a single word about "violence". Stop trying to twist this touching and positive plea for support...into something sinister.1 point
-
Historically when this happens it leads to violence. Let's hope it doesn't get to that point but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if it did. You can only whip the dog so long until it bites back1 point

Yup, Canada is becoming Cuba. Young people won’t be able to buy homes. They’ll rent little apartments, work from home or as essential workers under public safety measures, have curtailed freedoms, and live a subsistence lifestyle. Nowhere to take your complaints.1 point

Look at you. You support vaccine mandates and people losing businesses due to lockdowns. The government has done far more harm over these past years than a few truckers annoying locals in Ottawa1 point

Huh...I guess a person given to dictatorial methods might think that of garbage bag ties. Me? I pick up my garbage, bag it, and close it with something...like a zip tie. That's what people with respect do.1 point

I don’t know. He’s too powerful and entrenched, with his family name. Perfect example why no man should be elected when they come from a powerful political dynasty. There should be democratic limitations on PM’s power. Exactly why we need a president, alongside the PM who has certain authority, not just one man. Sorry, idiot savant boy king. Who sucks at boxing, too.1 point

The injunction has been granted and the time for leaving the Ambassador bridge was 7PM EST. The protesters said they are going to join hands and not leave. Penalty if charged and convicted is one year in prison and $100,000 fine. Time's up. Mob mentality has taken over.1 point

Not every trucker brought their kids, duh. But be aware that many of these people are all in poker-wise...out of work or even quit their jobs...mortgage gone...hit the road like Okies. It's that serious. Some people really like their freedom as it used to exist in this country. They just want it back. Instead we're going to submit to having a Chinese style social credit system with all THAT implies...you know we are. But some of us are at least going to fight back before this new Dark Age descends upon us. Remember a few years from now when our low social credit scores prevents you & I from being able to travel or use the internet: this is what we wanted...demanded.1 point

Then what are you talking about? Of course commerce with Russia will continue. But we have something they want. Our Northern Passage from Europe to the East. If there's anything Russia wants from us, it's that. I notice most of NATO has no desire for conflict with Russia. Britain, Germany and others have too much commerce with them. I'll keep saying this till it's too late but...the USA needs to stay out of this thing with Ukraine. The way I understand it, Bush Senior made a deal with Russia about NATO expansion and promptly broke it years ago. I predict a bunch of Biden Bull, followed by a whimper and...nothing.1 point

Good god, you are such a victim. Trudeau can't cave to a mob that is demanding a change in government and anyone with more than 2 brain cells knows that. You guys hate him and the idea that these people would leave if only he would talk to them is laughable. They wouldn't leave and that would make him look weaker. What right of yours has he been overriding? I mean ones you didn't just make up. We have a process for defending rights and it isn't decided by who can assemble the biggest mob and dictate to elected governments. You better decide what kind of country you want to live in because the way you are going will guarantee the death of democracy. You will end up with an autocrat who got power by catering to the mob, because that's how real autocrats get power.1 point

Yeah, but can we not impeach him and just boot him out in favor of another liberal?1 point

I am I suppose. But as most of them are - it's in plain day. No need to ask if Bill Gates owns Facebook and Pfizer etc. etc. People like the truckers and give them money. 17% of Canadians support the truckers. If there are really 400 of them then the GoFundMe lady should just split the money.1 point

They would replace it with a retarded YouTube channel spouting stuff that agrees with them. And don't think they wouldn't censor. I got kicked off my Yellow Vests groups because the sensitives got easily offended when I would challenge them on the lies from Quiggin et. al. We should just agree that the new populist movement is unworthy of saving and start ignoring them...1 point

1. Yeah, I think the rest of us 'got' that 2. The cat is out of the bag on this - 88.36% of Canadians who are eligible have received at least one dose: https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/vaccination-coverage/ 3. You get vaccinated pretty much from birth in this country and given the stat I provided in (2) above you are asking to turn back tie. 4. I am telling people instead to sound off to their misinformed and conspiracy-inclined friends and relatives so they know how crazy they sound.1 point

Don't forget the coming............................................CLIMATE CHANGE MANDATES! Lest anyone doesn't have a clue what mandates entail all the fear-mongering on this supposed mother of all end times! "TIME IS RUNNING OUT!" they say. Yeah, right. Meanwhile, they've now been sending space flights like there is no tomorrow! They're even talking about SPACE TOURISM! And, who's going to be mandated for the carbons? The common people. This freedom convoy isn't just about covid - in my view. Let this worldwide convoy nip all these deluge of upcoming socialistic mandates in the bud!1 point

The person that should feel ashamded with himself the most, is Justin Trudeau. 1 in 2400 Canadians are currently unvaxxinated Trucker, and about 85% of Canadians are vaccinated. If he forced all 16000 of them to get a vaccine, that would only push that number up by 0.05% to 85.05%. Why is Justin Trudeau risking a civil war for a difference of 0.05%? Even if the vaccine cured covid, the psycological torment he's caused Canadians isn't worth the extra effort. Billions of dollars is going to be lost in investor confidence because of these occupations. That money could be used to fund hospitals and treat the old people, who still need beds when they get serious infections. It seems like Trudeau still wants a covid zero policy, where developing herd-immunity is not tolerated. If a bunch of 30 year old's party on a plane, it's seen as a slap in the face to Canadian's rather than an opportunity for them to develop herd immunity. When young people develop herd immunity, future varriants will become suppresed, and these young people will be able to continue to work and support the economy. What Canadians need is blood tests, to determine each individuals natural immunity. If you have low natural immunity, that prehaps you can get in a crowed with a mask, and through social distancing build up your immunity until it's safe to take your mask off. For those who have good natural immunity... let them go about their lives without any restrictions. Why isn't Trudeau talking about tacking Vitamen C, Vitamen Z, Zinc, Chaha Mushroom, and the other supplements to help boost immunity? They never talk about diet. It's only the vaccinated will get us out of the pandemic, and the unvaxxinated are unacceptable people who should be frowned upon.1 point

This is my worry with my sister. There are days she's in so much pain, she feels like she can't go on. It will be a year this June since the shots. She has access to enough pills to do it, from a previous motorcycle accident. I worry every day I have to go to work.1 point
