I don't think we put anywhere near enough effort into trying to avoid dictators. In fact the opposite is just as often the case. The idea that they'd become more like us is questionable and even reasonable people will argue we're becoming more like them.3 points

Thanks for admitting your reliance on partisan hackery for YOUR "analysis." ?3 points

Meh, I think the media runs with these issues for clicks & ratings. @Michael Hardner has dubbed this "angertainment" (trademark pending).3 points

But the Dept of Sanitation Engineering just announced with 2% certainty it leaked from Mao's mausoleum that's funded by Hilary Clinton! that makes it an alternative fact.2 points

There's never really been a "homosexual society", for obvious self-limited reasons. There certainly were homosexuals out in the open 3000 years ago, and rock/cave art depicting homosexuality from 10,000+ years ago. Somehow humanity survived. ?2 points

There is definitely something to be said about that last part. I don't like Bill Maher in general, but I remember him chatting with Seinfeld and saying something along the lines of "The politically correct are so excessively tolerant that they tolerate intolerance".2 points

I think that Fox News losing $1.6 billion of its $4 billion cash reserve will teach them a lesson about deliberately lying to their viewers and they damage the cause to their targets.2 points

I mean no kidding. What planet have these people been on? You think Russia and China are going to go against each other and tear themselves apart? No, but they're gonna make us tear ourselves apart. With these inept azzhole leftists.2 points

Right, and they wouldn't want to do it anyways. You have to give them a certain amount of self-determination. Indigenous bands also aren't a homogenous group, they have their own customs, cultures, and ways of governance etc. We're all stuck together and we have to make our work for everyone.2 points

Why are you so hostile to the most logical conclusion on the origin of the Chinese Virus? You a Chinese bot or something?2 points

I don't understand the rules with this one. He got really huffy when Jully Black sang "our home on native land" saying we were being shamed etc. I don't see it that way, but if we were then why is it ok to make generalizations about other peoples calling them names ? This, to me, is white snowflake-ism at its worst. Don't accept any criticism of our own country, especially not by immigrants. But denigrate Native peoplss, that's ok ? Trolling. Just more trolling...1 point

I think it’s helpful to know who the racists are, don’t you?1 point
-
I get that you’re playing games by taking a very well-known racist meme which pretends to be innocent but is not innocent and using it to “prove” racism. Let me give you an example: If you ask Jewish people whether they support the phrase “Work sets you free,” would they support it? No, definitely not. Is it because Jews are lazy, or because they know it is the slogan which appeared above the Nazis largest concentration camp?1 point

Don't be scared. It's hard to understand new (to you) concepts when you're "scared."1 point

I get that you twist everything into something else. So here we have documented evidence FROM FOX that they all believed the election fraud story was fake, but they realized that they had to keep promoting what they knew were lies, or else it would cost them money. Murdoch tried to say that only a few of his employees did that, but under questioning he agreed that, yeah, it was all of his reporters. Their senior people went so far as to try to fire one reporter for reporting truthfully on Twitter that there was no proof of election fraud.1 point

2 headlines this morning that show the vast gulf between how Canada reacts to Chinese election interference and how the US reacts to it One article: "House's new US-China committee holds first hearing focusing on communist threat" and "Trudeau warns journalists that questions about China's election interference are racist and should stop." Sorry I can't post links right now but you can Google the articles and I'm sure you get the idea. Canada is not taking this seriously. Trudeau benefits from it so he doesn't care and wants it buried. Liberal MPs refusing to cooperate. This is hurting our US relations politically.1 point

Sorry, bigots. That stuff doesn't fly in the state of Florida. https://www.yahoo.com/news/nhl-backtracks-florida-gov-ron-023220181.html NHL backtracks after Florida Gov. Ron Desantis' office blasts league for 'discriminatory' job fair After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' office blasted the National Hockey League for hosting a "discriminatory" job fair that only allows certain groups of people to attend, the league backtracked and said the event is open to all individuals over 18-years-old. The event, titled "Pathway to Hockey Summit" is scheduled for on Feb. 2 during the 2023 All Star Festivities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and seeks to help "diverse job seekers who are pursuing careers in hockey." According to a now-deleted post by the NHL promoting the event on LinkedIn, the event is only open to certain groups of people. "Participants must be 18 years of age or older, based in the U.S., and identify as female, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability. Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend," the event description states. Once again, the great state of Florida brings a bunch of numbskull bigots into the 21st Century.1 point

Cornered by what, your snotty insults and myopic opinions? You lost the ability to speak, dude: you write gibberish half the time because you get so worked up about the lies you want to tell. And if you think Biden is a great leader, then how do you explain his hateful speeches, soaring inflation, Americans stranded in Afghanistan, Americans ignored after being gassed in Ohio, and the rising possibility of nuclear war?1 point

Sigh. 1. Where's Ukraine's border? Where is Russia? 3. How many times has Russia done that since after WWII; and after its collapse in the 1990s? This is as easy as it gets and that's just too bad that we're struggling to figure that one out. So we should roll over and suck up. Recognize the true masters of our Universe here. Great progress, there. Are we screwed at last, between Putin-cheering righties and syringe "for your own good" lefties?1 point

Sure the media is going to cover it, until the next gaff or story, remember when the same sources came out and said 11 MP have had Chinese assistance, not all were liberal some were said to be conservative as well. where was the public out cry then....The liberal government came out and told us nothing to worry about, then the story seems to be going as more is being uncovered...no outrage by conservatives wanting the name of their candidate exposed.... I think all the media outlets should be in on this story...it is or used to be one of their responsibilities to hold our government accountable... And i agree with you there needs to be an independent inquiry lead by NDP, Green, PPC to uncover all of this interference , there should be more than blood in the water there should be a few bodies by now...This story could be the one that leads into an election, or Justin stepping down.1 point

I think China played Russia, TBH. Both countries agreed that they'd be Switzerland if the other attacked Taiwan/Ukraine, and I think that Russia expected China to move ahead, just as they did themselves. Instead, China held back, and now they're "sitting on a hill, watching two tigers fight". Russia is depleting their army, the US is draining their military budget and committing terrorist attacks, and China is watching it with glee while they're busy building up their military, just like the US did in 1939, 1940 and the first 11 months of 1941. We all know how the world's superpowers changed between 1939 and 1945...1 point

That's not what the nuns told my wife. They hit her with sticks and tied her left hand behind her back. I'd hate to think what happened to 1st Nation's lefties. There's probably a special place in Hell for those poor wretched heathens - something really old school Biblical, like an Inquisition and Groundhog's Day rolled into one...for Infinity. Speaking of which, Pat Robertson says Heaven is like Sunday School that goes on forever. I imagine after 437 trillion years of that even Jesus would be thinking about slashing his wrists.1 point

There was no problem prior to 2014, but bad things happened then. Those things explain why we are in this predicament today. Once pandora's box was opened, the iniquity leakedout and it could not be closed again. Even the Ukrainians had a double-take on Biden's recent promises to keep backing and funding the war "for as long as it takes." Perhaps the only difference in what you're saying vs me, is I don't give the west a pass on this. The war was started intentionally, by third parties.1 point

Nobody cares. It's been a couple of days now and the mainstream media is like "Ho hum". Hardly a thing about this is appearing anywhere. A Liberal MP is, according to CSIS, a knowing agent of a hostile foreign power that puts Muslims in concentration camps. And the media doesn't care. But oh let a couple of Tory MPs do a picture with a European MEP whose party is against immigration and anti-Islam and it's headline news from coast to coast with breathless outrage being voiced on all the political panels.1 point

At that point I knew the rest would be bunk LOL Time to move on and get over it. What is a Vaccine? "Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting you against harmful diseases, before you come into contact with them. It uses your body’s natural defenses to build resistance to specific infections and makes your immune system stronger. Vaccines train your immune system to create antibodies, just as it does when it’s exposed to a disease. However, because vaccines contain only killed or weakened forms of germs like viruses or bacteria, they do not cause the disease or put you at risk of its complications." https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/vaccines-and-immunization-what-is-vaccination "A vaccine is a type of medicine that trains the body’s immune system so that it can fight a disease it has not come into contact with before. Vaccines are designed to prevent disease, rather than treat a disease once you have caught it." https://vk.ovg.ox.ac.uk/how-do-vaccines-work https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vaccine1 point

To you they are. And that's fine. I'm not going to argue your interpretation, as we're both just ordinary laymen. Or is that, laypersons Since the majority of those who died were generally the elderly, it's the elderly who were saved by the vaccine. And that makes good sense, even if there is a risk of vaccine injury such as sterility. Not too many 90 year olds are gonna have kids anyway. There's a clear argument of risk vs. benefit. But the mandates are the problematic issue. Especially for the young, where the risk of covid drops to very low. We heard "The young are vectors for Covid." Well maybe that's good. Maybe that's what they're supposed to be, when they're young. They need exposure to all sorts of things that won't kill them. But makes them stronger...1 point

T hat doesn't really explain your multiple posts does it I literally quote what you're saying Every time. the problem is once you realize what you said is wrong or foolish, you try to change what you said. And that just doesn't work. Which is why you have such a tough time addressing the actual argument. I asked a simple question - what did harper do to make you feel that there was a lack of transparancy. And you couldn't answer that, so you tried to just post a list of gaffes or talking point issues from his time. And when i shot that down you basically just attack me. All you're doing is proving my point and making yourself look bad - and that is NOT my fault. And i love that you think i believe i'm 'so smart' You've brought that up several times now and i haven't once said i was smart. People who think that about others as you do about me generally are displaying an inferiority issue. It means YOU believe that I'm so smart. So you project that I believe the same. LOL - thanks for telling me you believe i'm smarter than you without telling me I'm sorry i intimidate you that much. But honestly none of this is that complex, you are smart enough to do better if you actually THINK before you type a bit more.1 point

The Vox article goes on to say why there are issues with that study. That particular study looks to be faulty, and other studies point to the opposite conclusion. Do you just choose the one that you like?1 point
-
Of course, the poster stopped reading the Vox article once it said what he liked…. @WestCanMan didn’t quote the next part. I think Jefferson — an Oxford University epidemiologist who has a number of eccentric and flatly nonsensical opinions about Covid-19, including that it didn’t originate in China and may have been circulating in Europe for years before its global emergence — is overstating his case. There is something we can learn from the Cochrane paper, but it’s as much about the process of science as it is about the effectiveness of masks. First, the reasons I don’t totally buy the Cochrane review’s conclusions: The review includes 78 studies. Only six were actually conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic, so the bulk of the evidence the Cochrane team took into account wasn’t able to tell us much about what was specifically happening during the worst pandemic in a century. Instead, most of them looked at flu transmission in normal conditions, and many of them were about other interventions like hand-washing. Only two of the studies are about Covid and masking in particular.1 point

Socializing community values has always been a part of schooling. Patriotic lessons, events such as Remembrance Day and good morals and civics are not a problem but when values change, those that hold traditional values are often left behind. There's no easy rules for such situations, but it's the responsibility of the administration to facilitate such divisions in a pragmatic and positive way for all.1 point
