  1. I don't think we put anywhere near enough effort into trying to avoid dictators. In fact the opposite is just as often the case. The idea that they'd become more like us is questionable and even reasonable people will argue we're becoming more like them.

  7. There is definitely something to be said about that last part. I don't like Bill Maher in general, but I remember him chatting with Seinfeld and saying something along the lines of "The politically correct are so excessively tolerant that they tolerate intolerance".

What a shocker. The question now becomes...'Where the hell is Fauci?'. Fauci went way out of his way to convince the world The Rona was a natural occurrence. That's because his organization was funding this gain of function crap all over the world...including Wuhan. This POS needs to be caged and the WHO needs to be disbanded. 15. I get that you’re playing games by taking a very well-known racist meme which pretends to be innocent but is not innocent and using it to “prove” racism. Let me give you an example: If you ask Jewish people whether they support the phrase “Work sets you free,” would they support it? No, definitely not. Is it because Jews are lazy, or because they know it is the slogan which appeared above the Nazis largest concentration camp?

  21. 2 headlines this morning that show the vast gulf between how Canada reacts to Chinese election interference and how the US reacts to it One article: "House's new US-China committee holds first hearing focusing on communist threat" and "Trudeau warns journalists that questions about China's election interference are racist and should stop." Sorry I can't post links right now but you can Google the articles and I'm sure you get the idea. Canada is not taking this seriously. Trudeau benefits from it so he doesn't care and wants it buried. Liberal MPs refusing to cooperate. This is hurting our US relations politically.

  22. Sorry, bigots. That stuff doesn't fly in the state of Florida. https://www.yahoo.com/news/nhl-backtracks-florida-gov-ron-023220181.html NHL backtracks after Florida Gov. Ron Desantis' office blasts league for 'discriminatory' job fair After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' office blasted the National Hockey League for hosting a "discriminatory" job fair that only allows certain groups of people to attend, the league backtracked and said the event is open to all individuals over 18-years-old. The event, titled "Pathway to Hockey Summit" is scheduled for on Feb. 2 during the 2023 All Star Festivities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and seeks to help "diverse job seekers who are pursuing careers in hockey." According to a now-deleted post by the NHL promoting the event on LinkedIn, the event is only open to certain groups of people. "Participants must be 18 years of age or older, based in the U.S., and identify as female, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability. Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend," the event description states. Once again, the great state of Florida brings a bunch of numbskull bigots into the 21st Century.

  28. Here’s the poll that set Adams’ head on fire: ”It’s ok to be white” 53% Agree 26% Disagree 21% Not Sure Knowing that this is a white supremacist phrase, do you think black people would approve of it? This should make all of us very untrusting of Rasmussen Reports from now on. They clearly used this poll to mislead people. If you look at Rasmussen’s Twitter post about the poll, they sure as heck didn’t mention that it’s a phrase commonly used by white supremacists. And of course they didn’t ask black people if they were aware that white supremacists used the phrase. The purpose of a survey is not to try to “prove” that people think differently from the way they actually think. Here’s the thing: “It’s OK to be white” is a phrase invented by white supremacists: https://www.adl.org/resources/hate-symbol/its-okay-be-white ”The phrase “It’s Okay To Be White” is a slogan popularized in late 2017 as a trolling campaign by members of the controversial discussion forum 4chan. The original idea behind the campaign was to choose an ostensibly innocuous and inoffensive slogan, put that slogan on fliers bereft of any other words or imagery, then place the fliers in public locations. White supremacists had themselves used the phrase in the past—including on fliers—long before the 4chan campaign originated.”

  29. In order to force all Canadians to adopt to the liberal and far left hallowed "utopian" society it will be necessary to have almost complete control over the public. The chinese have mastered that - of course the hard left has a hard on for them. It' s like a highschooler with his first guitar watching Hendrix. Like justin said - he admires the chinese regime because they can make changes they want on a dime.

Sure the media is going to cover it, until the next gaff or story, remember when the same sources came out and said 11 MP have had Chinese assistance, not all were liberal some were said to be conservative as well. where was the public out cry then....The liberal government came out and told us nothing to worry about, then the story seems to be going as more is being uncovered...no outrage by conservatives wanting the name of their candidate exposed.... I think all the media outlets should be in on this story...it is or used to be one of their responsibilities to hold our government accountable... And i agree with you there needs to be an independent inquiry lead by NDP, Green, PPC to uncover all of this interference , there should be more than blood in the water there should be a few bodies by now...This story could be the one that leads into an election, or Justin stepping down.

  33. Okay (not that you'll listen anyway) 1. The Wuhan lab was working on a variety of coronaviruses 2. There appeared to be a shut down of the virology lab. 3. It was apparent that Chinese scientists in the lab came down with symptoms associated with Covid-19. 4. The lab then destroyed a bunch of computers and scrubbed servers 5. The Chinese refused to allow any scientists in at the start of covid 6. Covid itself seemed far more advanced in the evolutionary cycle of a virus found in nature that it's probably more realistic to believe the virus was generically altered 7. They HAVE NOT found ANY credible link between bat species and covid

Once pandora's box was opened, the iniquity leakedout and it could not be closed again. Even the Ukrainians had a double-take on Biden's recent promises to keep backing and funding the war "for as long as it takes." Perhaps the only difference in what you're saying vs me, is I don't give the west a pass on this. The war was started intentionally, by third parties.

  41. At that point I knew the rest would be bunk LOL Time to move on and get over it. What is a Vaccine? "Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting you against harmful diseases, before you come into contact with them. It uses your body’s natural defenses to build resistance to specific infections and makes your immune system stronger. Vaccines train your immune system to create antibodies, just as it does when it’s exposed to a disease. However, because vaccines contain only killed or weakened forms of germs like viruses or bacteria, they do not cause the disease or put you at risk of its complications." https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/vaccines-and-immunization-what-is-vaccination "A vaccine is a type of medicine that trains the body’s immune system so that it can fight a disease it has not come into contact with before. Vaccines are designed to prevent disease, rather than treat a disease once you have caught it." https://vk.ovg.ox.ac.uk/how-do-vaccines-work https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vaccine

  42. T hat doesn't really explain your multiple posts does it I literally quote what you're saying Every time. the problem is once you realize what you said is wrong or foolish, you try to change what you said. And that just doesn't work. Which is why you have such a tough time addressing the actual argument. I asked a simple question - what did harper do to make you feel that there was a lack of transparancy. And you couldn't answer that, so you tried to just post a list of gaffes or talking point issues from his time. And when i shot that down you basically just attack me. All you're doing is proving my point and making yourself look bad - and that is NOT my fault. And i love that you think i believe i'm 'so smart' You've brought that up several times now and i haven't once said i was smart. People who think that about others as you do about me generally are displaying an inferiority issue. It means YOU believe that I'm so smart. So you project that I believe the same. LOL - thanks for telling me you believe i'm smarter than you without telling me I'm sorry i intimidate you that much. But honestly none of this is that complex, you are smart enough to do better if you actually THINK before you type a bit more.

  43. The Vox article goes on to say why there are issues with that study. That particular study looks to be faulty, and other studies point to the opposite conclusion. Do you just choose the one that you like?
    1 point
  44. Of course, the poster stopped reading the Vox article once it said what he liked…. @WestCanMan didn’t quote the next part. I think Jefferson — an Oxford University epidemiologist who has a number of eccentric and flatly nonsensical opinions about Covid-19, including that it didn’t originate in China and may have been circulating in Europe for years before its global emergence — is overstating his case. There is something we can learn from the Cochrane paper, but it’s as much about the process of science as it is about the effectiveness of masks. First, the reasons I don’t totally buy the Cochrane review’s conclusions: The review includes 78 studies. Only six were actually conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic, so the bulk of the evidence the Cochrane team took into account wasn’t able to tell us much about what was specifically happening during the worst pandemic in a century. Instead, most of them looked at flu transmission in normal conditions, and many of them were about other interventions like hand-washing. Only two of the studies are about Covid and masking in particular.

  45. Honestly the article pretty much shoots down their work. From the article: "First, the reasons I don’t totally buy the Cochrane review’s conclusions: The review includes 78 studies. Furthermore, neither of those studies looked directly at whether people wear masks, but instead at whether people were encouraged or told to wear masks by researchers. If telling people to wear masks doesn’t lead to reduced infections, it may be because masks just don’t work, or it could be because people don’t wear masks when they’re told, or aren’t wearing them correctly." And that's the problem with any meta analysis. If the studies are all good studies then you can tend to get some interesting new results and information, but if the studies are crap to begin with it's really hard to get anything useful. The fact that the reports author doesn't think Covid originated in china doesn't help his credibility

  46. I feel there should be unisex washrooms in public buildings. If a business claims to be inclusive, this should be the bare minimum. With that said, I do dislike the overuse of the word transphobic which has now been wielded as a weapon towards anyone you don't agree with. I don't like your point, so you're transphobic, regardless of facts and research. I don't agree with this. While I don't agree with Dave Chapelle on all that he says, the aggressive push to attempt to silence his voice due to trans jokes prove that point. For the record, he is a comedian that pokes fun of many other minorities and socially vulnerable groups, with very little protest regarding that. So is it really about defending the vulnerable? I also however also dislike someone deliberately telling a trans woman (or man) that they are a male (or female), for no other reason to dismiss their existence. The trans community isn't the issue here. I feel the activists, pushing for draconian changes to certain freedoms of speech, or this perverse push to completely crush any dissenting views is quite troubling, considering I have been to countries where such freedoms have fully been suppressed. Typically such suppresions start at the language. No better way to crush dissent, that to start at the most basic means of how you identify yourself through speech. I'm a live and let live type. The trans community hasn't ever hurt me, so I don't understand why I should hate them for simply wanting to exist. Only place where there is a clash, is where I am supposed to believe whatever you tell me to believe, and that questioning any of it equates bigotry. Sorry, but I strongly believe in logic, and as a result want to know the good the bad and the ugly about anything that I learn about. This isn't a trans issue, however. They should be left out of that equation, as a result.

  47. Socializing community values has always been a part of schooling. Patriotic lessons, events such as Remembrance Day and good morals and civics are not a problem but when values change, those that hold traditional values are often left behind. There's no easy rules for such situations, but it's the responsibility of the administration to facilitate such divisions in a pragmatic and positive way for all.
