  1. 1. To be honest, this is a misconception by professionals that good managers are not their equals, at heart. The cost of having Doctors run hospitals is that you have hospitals run by people who aren't the best at it. I recall the revelation to a hospital that they could schedule MRI visits in the evening and reduce wait times by months. No capable business manager would have allowed such a situation to happen as to have an essential service shut down at 5 pm just because. That said, the medical people need a kind of veto over decisions that's clear. 2. Bed reductions aren't "bad" on their own. Certainly a context needs to be shown in terms of trade offs. 3. Transparency is needed, but also - if an administrator were theoretically to save millions and keep services intact wouldn't it make sense to offer incentives to attract people who are able to do that ? Unfortunately the value of a nurse doesn't scale up to the value of an excellent health CEO - do you see what I mean ? 4. If we had an informed public, able to understand trade-offs, and listening to both the cost and quality side I am 100% convinced this problem would be solved. Instead we have micro-managing cost cutters on one side, and bleeding hearts frankly on the other. The public and the patients lose. Harper put something called CIHI in place to help form an informed public on such matters. I pushed it on this board for years but even here people are more interested in ideology fights than informing themselves on boring issues and making a better "public" I do feel strongly about this situation - that it's our fault as Canadians we allow this to happen.

  2. Trump is going to run in 2024, and I can understand the concerns about his age. But we are looking ahead into the future, the unknown. Let’s first take a look at what he’s been up to since Jan 20, 2021. He’s been working hard since he left office, hasn’t he? Rally after rally, and more importantly, speaking the truth about the Biden government wherever he goes. The border. The economy. The trans, climate, and Ukraine agendas. Hunter. On and on it goes, dropping truth bombs. Thats been giving conservatives hope and courage all this time, all across North America. When there otherwise didn’t seem to be any. He’s been relentless, not bad for an old guy. And fighting off dozens of law suits at the same time. I’ve never seen anything like it. His efforts have helped to give energy to conservative pundits and the social media platforms. People I watch on YouTube for instance. We all know he’s doing things in the background that may never even come to light. He’s earned the right to step into the ring one more time. The media that hounded him are down by one. CNN, or the fake news, as he liked to call them, are toast. Do you think that’s a coincidence? He won that battle. But if he runs, he’ll be wiser in regards to the needless tweeting, etc, I think. Oh yeah, that’s two down, since Twitter is now an ally. A good running mate, and he’s a shoo-in. Really, in spite of the 2000 asses.

  3. Right now, a DOWNS SYNDROME teenager would do a better job than ANY Democrat. But if you're looking for a preview of President Trump's second term (outside of his reversing Unelected Joe's WORST policies, getting gas prices down, taming inflation, and fixing the clusterfck overseas) this little speech bought his reelection, (at least in the minds of reasonable and intelligent people.) Ronald Reagan was very old in his second term and he STILL accomplished miracles. Right now Trump is the BEST president of the 21st Century and he should get his second term (one he ALREADY won in 2020.) And AGAIN we Floridians do not want our amazing Governor to short us even a DAY of his brilliance as governor. When President Trump's second term is over, Governor DeSantis will be the perfect choice to continue the run of prosperity, world peace and security for the United States. Anyone who votes for anyone else (including a DemoNazi) is a traitor.

  4. President Donald Trump has already made his legacy in American political history...adding a second term would not top his most impactful achievement(s): 1) Defeating GOP favorites in primaries to easily get the 2016 nomination 2) Against all oddmakers, narrowly defeating Hillary Clinton in the general election (his greatest contribution). 3) Taking a stand against economic globalism, NATO deadbeats, and illegal immigrants. 4) U.S. Supreme Court and federal circuit court appointments to favour stricter Constitutional rulings. Trump's many failures will dog him and the GOP as well, so there is no reason to continue to invest in another Trump candidacy. Persisting in doing so will only make another Biden term possible. I agree that Trump had a great run. Time for America to move on.

  5. Do you think marginalized men (I've never heard him referring to simply white men) are not perhaps encouraged to be less whiny and to take responsibility by listening to his advice? He's not incorrect about the problems faced by young men and boys, who increasingly perform less well, academically, than young women and girls. He's also not wrong in trying to tell them how to do better.

  6. Great players often don’t make great coaches. Healthcare could benefit from new thinking outside the box, perhaps managers from entirely different industries. With that said, managers new to the game have a steep learning curve and they better master the lingo because they’ll be challenged on it by the health professionals.

  7. What assumptions?!!, Just look at the ACTIONS of a bunch of Islamic clergy in Iran and their Muslim followers. Oppression, discriminations against women, disrespects of others, torture and murder of opponents and other believers, rape of women prisoners, corruption, dictatorship and I can go on forever.. Not to mention history books are clear as how this so called religion was spread at the first place from Arabia. By sword. By military invasion.

  8. You're correct. _I_ don't need that. But there clearly are a number of men, principally young men, lost men, who do. And if his advice helps them then I certainly have no issue with that. There's lots of angry people out there. And aside from when dealing with imbecilic woke people who consider anyone who opposes multiple genders to be akin to Hitler I rarely see him as 'angry'. And speaking about imbecilic woke, I give you, this.

  9. I doubt Marx is ever entertaining. I do watch Thomas Sowell, who famously was a Marxist when younger. He says his first real job working with numbers dealing with US employment figures, incentives and behavior cured him of that forever. Besides, why spend time on an ideology which is only occasionally 'good'? I rarely even watch Peterson. I'm not sure what he might have been referring to. It's not like he doesn't believe in climate change, AFAIK. He just thinks that the proposed solutions are largely unworkable and that humankind would be better helped by devoting that money to things like education and nutrition in the third world. His view is the only way out of the climate change issue is scientific/technological innovation and discoveries. Again, AFAIK. I don't devote much time to him. I just recall seeing an amusing and somewhat interesting little snippet on climate change from a question/answer session he did at Cambridge.

  10. Trump exposed himself as a dictator around the 2020 election and afterwards. His best-before date is past. If you still support Trump you support a dictator. Many GOP supporters still support him. I'm confident most swing voters aren't that stupid or morally bankrupt.

  11. Very well said... Peterson is such an intellectual nullity that podcaster Joe Rogan tripped him up on this "incel" point. If incels are the "losers" why is Peterson championing them or does he even care ? They're not reproducing by definition so they're evolutionary trail mix right ?

  12. So you blow past the facts of the matter and ask me that? The fact that there are no-go zones in Germany doesn't matter as much as how many muslim friends I have? Dude, friends and acquaintances are like anecdotes. A few friends doesn't constitute a worthwhile statistic. And you're talking about people living in a country where they don't have the option of being religious bigots. If they lived in Iran would they let your wife go out without a hijab? Would the support her choice? How many times in your life have you heard stupid shit like "He's a Hell's Angel but he's a nice guy." "Nice guy"? That nice guy makes a living by distributing heroine, meth, crack, etc. If you sell some weed without his permission you'll get beaten within an inch of death. That guy is a psychopath and a cancer on society and he only cares about himself or he wouldn't be in his line of work. But he's nice, right? BS. Anyone can be 'nice' when it's convenient. The only measure of a person's character is what they do when they're in a position of power over you. Go to Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, etc and get your wife to stroll around without a hijab. See how many friends you can make. Is wearing a hijab in Canada 'nice'? Do you know what it represents dude? It's cute to you because over here it's a symbol of Canada's inclusivity and religious tolerance, but in the ME it's a symbol of misogyny and a tool for enforcing religious bigotry. Why support that? Why gloss over it? The hijab is a terrible thing. If you had to give it a proper name it's the universal symbol of systemic genocidal rape. You can't keep your women safe in the ME if they doesn't wear that. It's a matter of time before they're beaten or raped, legally. You have to cave. You have to submit. Or you're at risk of death. Who the f would support that? FYI anyone who wears that thing is supporting misogyny and religious bigotry, period. You just don't understand it because your world view is in first-person mode only. The whole world exists in front of your nose and there's nothing else. You don't ever think of the view from 50,000 feet.

  13. I don't know...and none of us ever will IMO. It is also my opinion that Polievre should proceed to beat Pixie-Dust over the head with this gross display of cowardice.

  14. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Yes I want Trump to have a long run this time around. But here’s the thing, with all his rallies he’s never stopped running. This is probably how he beat Biden in the latest poll. And if he has this much energy, he’ll be fine mentally for the next 6 years. Certainly better than Biden, who is so weak it’s obvious he won’t be running in 2024. That will be Harris. Against Trump. Nobody will be able to prop her up.

  15. You said you don't like his "politics". When pressed...you can't defend that statement. Why? Well that's obvious. You make emotional responses to political issues. Nobody really cares that your butt hurts at the very thought of Trump. That infliction is something you share with all the other Tweenkies on the planet. And THAT I can understand. I mean...let's face it...The Donald is an "in your face" personality. A lot of people don't like that. Hell...sometime I wish he'd just shut up myself. But the results were nothing short of spectacular. And in the end...to me and hundreds of millions...THAT is the measure of a good POTUS. To the SCOTUS. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the SCOTUS said they will not decide a presidential election and refused to hear the arguments in court. But the story of that damnable laptop is all the proof anyone needs to know that the election was fraudulent.! Trump will run and he may even win. Why? Because after 4 years of Biden's path to destruction, Americans will be in the mood for an about face.

  16. LOL...Pixie-Dust didn't need Trump for Canadians to turn on him. So you completely ignore the Hunter Biden laptop news being squelched and lied about just before that election? OK understood. Indeed. Nationalism...the idea that a national leader should actually represent the nation he or she leads. My Gawd! What a nasty concept. Your friends: I tend to not pay much attention to Breitbart. Maybe I should...eh? So...in essence...its not Trump's "politics" you dislike...its Trump's personality and business practices you dislike. And that's not only OK, its at least understandable. But the politics of the man while he was POTUS produced wonderful results for the USA and by extension...Canada as well.

  18. Interesting. So...those of you who reject the idea of that balloon being a "spy balloon", yet refuse to consider why the Russians moved in on Ukraine, deserve a big fat PFFT! The balloon was being driven. It was being directed. This much we know. Now why would the Chinese even be mildly interested in the weather? No...that balloon had an intent and it wasn't the weather. What urks me is, Pixie-Dust must have known about it and in a spectacular display of loyalty... He ignored it.

  24. Climate scare is what I dispute, not actual climate change. If you understand how senile and useless Joe Biden is, then you understand that he didn't win a fair election. Covid was an excuse to shut down the economy and open the flood gates to mail in balloting. There's nothing wrong with entertaining a few conspiracies, just so long as you don't let them consume your life. Perhaps Donald Trump haters should take that advice?

  25. I don't care enough about Marx to bother. It's a failed ideology, a failed economic model. What about what he says is incorrect?
    1 point
  26. No. That's not how I work. I ignore him on certain subjects because he sound silly. On psychological topics, though, he sounds quite sensible most of the time. And I believe Marx, and I am far from an expert, produced an unworkable system which ignores human motivation. On climate change, he has his opinion just like you do. My opinion tends to be similar to his in that I believe the scientists but also believe the proposed solution brought down by politicians is unworkable and will never achieve anything of substance but increasing poverty levels.

  27. Michael I’m surprised at you. Peterson worked for the UN and has demonstrated quite deep knowledge of green energy. He takes Lomberg’s perspective on climate change, which doesn’t deny it exists but brings in important doses of realism regarding what can reasonably be done. Peterson doesn’t pretend to be an expert on the subject. I’m not defending his knowledge universally across subjects, but I find it sad that you’re piling on against him without specifics. This seems to be the pattern. Did the Star or Globe and Mail tell you he’s a bad guy?

  31. 1. It's also a critical framework, and an examination of history. If you like watching Peterson because there are some good bits you should also read Marx by principle. 2. I have to turn him off when he talks about things that aren't "self help"... saying "there's no such thing as climate" on climate change, talking about Nietzsche and saying "he was right about this" "wrong about that" is ridiculous, he's way out of his depth with no clue... saying Marx didn't consider the limits of nature, critiquing economic theory.... I'm too old to be hoodwinked... I can listen to people who are wrong but not people who just talk out their ass.

  33. The only reason Jordan Peterson is significant is that his fans elevate him to a stature far beyond what his credentials deserve, and that's only because he's telling them what they want him to hear. HIs characterization of the "natural order of things" is absurd and he's mocked around the globe as the "Lobster King" by academics who actually know things about those topics. That's another problem with Peterson - his willingness to wade in and promote conclusions on topics for which he knows little/nothing. Jordan Peterson would approve this sort of pseudo-intellectual gobbledygook. Have you read any of these books? Honestly? That question is just for you. You don't actually have to answer. As for the "natural order of things", the contradiction he's making is self-evident. Winners are winners, and losers are losers. The richest and most successful people in the world are white dudes. The fact that all the poor incels and disenfranchised young white men who follow Peterson is merely evidence of their beta status...if we're to follow his logic. University is supposed to make us better critical and evidence-based thinkers.
