Why would I? He is. Walks like one, talks like one. builds monuments like one, uses the army on his own people like one, cuts out the elected decision makers like one, murders people without trial, jails them without due process, sics the police on anyone he's pi$$ed off at. It's just some absolute blockheads like you insisting he isn't.2 points

No. You said the 2008 was the first ruling that affirmed an individual's right. I showed that the 1939, Miller ruling affirmed the right while denying a set of weapons.2 points

Will Zohran Mamdani become the mayor of NYC? Is this really what NYC needs or even wants? Where's all his campaign funding coming from? It looks like he's largely funded by Muslim concerns abroad. Should NYC really defund the police? Should NYC really be getting into the grocery business? Make public transit free? Tax the wealthy and corporations out of NYC? Can NYC afford this person? THINK!1 point

Carney apparently doesn't. Trump understands federal Canada, English/French. Quebec/Alberta - Ontario. ==== Trudeau Snr famously noted (I misquote): The Toronto Blue Jays are largely American ball players - playing for a Canadian team.1 point

Health care some good, some not so good Last September was admitted to hospital with a ruptured appendix. From the arrival time to the diagnosis time was 13 hours. Waited approx. 8 hours to see a doctor who sent me for a C.T Scan to see what's up. From arrival to "emergency" surgery was 15 hours. In hospital for 12 days with severe infection. 2days in intensive care, the rest in a normal ward. The good.....after care was excellent. The bad..... diagnosis took far to long. I explained to about 5 different medical staff the classis symptoms of appendicitis, none fully listened.1 point

America is far too racist and hostile for a gentle soul like Don Lemon. Perhaps he should embrace his heritage and relocate to Africa?1 point

I suggested ways such as looking at the systems in Europe and see how they're run. Our system is a failure and we need to accept that fact and change it. But that could only be done by the powers that be at the central command structure, that is, the federal government in conjunction with the provinces. It takes leadership but we don't have it. Show me any sign that the leadership is willing to change the system and I'll believe it. Our system in Canada is actually made up of 12 systems in 10 provinces and two territories. That will be hard to get them to change. It would take strong leadership.1 point

I agree, Canadians had sticker shock with the F-35 purchase, this project is going to cause heart attacks.......Navy Commander did propose a mix fleet solution because they need subs yesterday...Carney does not want a split contract to much work and not enough off sets....... And to be honest Canada does not have one idea on how to make subs...it requires more skill than building surface ships....Besides this is a politic al decision now, Military has already shared their opinion and Carney will pick the one that has the most votes tied to it....1 point

...but the New Deal was fascism, long before WW2. FDR admired Mussolini, who made the trains run on time. Trump could never wield the kind of unchecked power that FDR and the Democrats had in the 1930's. The 22nd Amendment was passed to stop any future "kings" like FDR.1 point

So vote for Carney again if that's how you feel. It's why you voted for Trudeau.1 point

A ploughboy without an inkling of knowledge on either law or justice defining common sense? (proving it isn't) Who can't even conceive of law other than as a political position? Move to the USA boy and elect Judges solely on that basis. Yes, yes abiding by the Constitution and a thousand years of Common Law is just so damn 'woke'. The janitor wants to run the Boardroom, it's 'common sense'.1 point

So a 14th century word comes from a 20th century word? Time travelling, maybe? Gender - 14th century Gene - 1909 What is the root of gender? From 14th century Derivation. The modern English word gender comes from the Middle English gender, gendre, a loanword from Anglo-Norman and Middle French gendre. This, in turn, came from Latin genus. Both words mean "kind", "type", or "sort". What is the root word for gene? The term "gene" was coined by Danish botanist Wilhelm Johannsen in 1909, derived from the Greek word genos meaning "birth," "race," or "procreation" The word gene takes its root in the ancient Greek, where génos means the race, which comes from the word gignomai which means to engender, to become. Gender is an assignation by language. Even tables and windows have genders in some languages.1 point

You didn't show anything. You waved your hands and made a claim--about the 2nd amendment and the Miller case. You provided neither evidence nor argument. And you're claim itself is false. The truth is basically the opposite of what you claimed--that's why a Heller was a big deal. Miller continued the expectation that gun ownership was fully in the context of a well regulated militia, not a distinct individual right, and self defense was an insufficient justification. Justicia Primary holding "Only weapons that have a reasonable relationship to the effectiveness of a well-regulated militia under the Second Amendment are free from government regulation." And that's not just what weapons can be owned, but it also clearly makes when and how a person is armed subject to regulation--not as an individual right, but in the context of a well regulated militia. Individuals can keep and bear arms, but the right is constitutionally protected only in the furtherance of that goal. Federal and State law were able to regulate everything in that context. Again, you can learn the history or not. But it should be obvious that there wasn't a decades long legal strategy and battle to achieve something that you claim was settled in 1939. 🙄1 point

This is nothing but disinformation. Your favorite party, the Conservatives, are rotten to the core, and it's people like them who pay you to spread lies. For conservatives, destroying the environment and the health of the population doesn’t bother them—as long as they’re lining their pockets. Those who vote for them should see a psychologist, because they've been brainwashed by liars.1 point

Project is moving at light speed - first delivery is 2035. Doubtful anyone remembers the Oberon Class Submarines - purchased from the Brits they provided invaluable training support for the Destroyer squadrons in perfecting close anti-submarine action. What was even more impressive was the maintenance support provided by HM Dockyard in Halifax. Extremely skilled civilian support provided scheduled maintenance. The subs might have been RN retreads but they were efficient, well maintained and a respected force. That infrastructure support disappeared with the O-boats. To get it back will take generations - providing the will is there. The thing you need to remember when it comes to subs is that they will kill the crew very quickly if they're not properly maintained and crewed. A surface ship can tolerate a degree of complacency re: operations / maintenance - not subs! I can't begin to imagine how Canada will ever get a degree of proficiency in a realm that is so complex, expensive. and very dangerous.1 point
-
Indeed, but the choice and contract downselect is never so straightforward when it comes to Canadian defence procurements. TKMS knows this all too well and is dangling the much more expensive and delayed carrot of domestic shipyard jobs. This is a bold procurement for new subs, but will likely play out like so many other projects in the past. Getting the popcorn ready...1 point

In the past Canada and America have always sat down and respected each other and talk things out. Reagan was absolutely against tariffs whenever humanly possible and only impose them in cases of great need Trump's actions by his own admission is basically a war on Canada. On top of it all he disrespects our sovereignty and attacks us as people. He suggests that we don't really have a right to see exist This is nothing like has ever happened before, shy of the time when we had to cross the border and burn your white house down. The relationship will not be easily repaired. You people have demonstrated that your word means nothing to you and that you can't be trusted.1 point

The people applying are less relevant than their policies. That’s why I support Pierre. Not because of his amazing personality, but because of logical policies. Canadians need to grow up and act like adults, and start voting based on policy not who they “like” more or who says the kindest, nicest things. We spent 10 years electing a guy who told us that puppies and kittens and rainbows are fantastic, and look where it got us.1 point

Long before that, FDR and the Democrats New Deal programs were fascist by any measure. During WW2, FDR took over industries for war materials production, and even interned Japanese American citizens and legal residents. This information is not hard to find...unless you don't want to. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Franklin_D._Roosevelt One could say that it took a fascist to defeat the fascists.1 point

Give it up with your Americanized vocabulary. It is Public Health care, if every country in the world uses it except the USA then let them continue to fool their citizens by portraying it as a socialist horror. It isn't, can't be classified as such and sure as hell shouldn't be handed over to the free market. What's next that's socialist? Fire Dept? Police? Pensions? Not denying some fixes are needed, but giving in to the populist concept that smashing things = fixing things is beyond stupidity.1 point

The problem with our health care system is that we have way too many simple minded people always running to see a doctor when they cut their finger or have an headache. Why do the doctors see a patient who has a small problem and wants that patient to come back and see him in a week. The patient may not need to go see the doctor but many fools will. The doctors make money every time they see a patient even if it means that the patient does not need not see the doctor again if all is well. And one of the biggest problems with our health care system is that we are taking in way too many new immigrants by the hundreds of thousands just about every year that will now and are using the health care system and not paying for their health care service or into our health care system. I blame a lot of our health problems on our politicians with all of the unneeded and unwanted legal and illegal new immigrants coming to Canada by the hundreds of thousands every year. Our health care will not get any better if we keep dumping thousands of people from around the world who do get help from our health care system when needed. It is massive immigration that is killing everything in Canada today. It needs to end if we want to be able to try and get things back to normal. It is time for a moratorium on immigration. Just my opinion of course.1 point

Not sure whether you're a lazy American or an uninformed-for-good-reason Canadian, but no, that's false. There are some excellent long-format examinations of that history, but for a short version you can learn the history here. “A fraud on the American public.” That’s how former Chief Justice Warren Burger described the idea that the Second Amendment gives an unfettered individual right to a gun. When he spoke these words to PBS in 1990, the rock-ribbed conservative appointed by Richard Nixon was expressing the longtime consensus of historians and judges across the political spectrum. Twenty-five years later, Burger’s view seems as quaint as a powdered wig. Not only is an individual right to a firearm widely accepted, but increasingly states are also passing laws to legalize carrying weapons on streets, in parks, in bars—even in churches. Many are startled to learn that the U.S. Supreme Court didn’t rule that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual’s right to own a gun until 2008, when District of Columbia v. Heller struck down the capital’s law effectively banning handguns in the home.1 point

Now that is what i am talking about!!! Go, Alberta, go. 😇1 point

Its unfortunate but Alberta may not have another choice. Canada has failed Alberta and all provinces except Ontario and Quebec. They've cowed to those 2 provinces over and over. Yes...it's been done to garner votes and power. But is that the purpose of the federal government? Or is it to represent and support all of Canada? Ottawa had better wake up fast...it may already be too late. If Alberta leaves...Saskatchewan will be next and from there...Canada just falls apart. Make your choice carney...1 point

No, some of them are violent insurrectionists. Some of them are fraudsters. All are felons, tried in a court of law and convicted by a jury of their peers. Trump also happens to be a sex criminal, a rapist, and a murderer, though those are not the felonies of which he's been convicted.1 point

Discriminating against people who make up nearly half the voting population is a great way to win elections, and even red-pilling a bunch of them. The concept that everyone should have equal say and equal rights regardless of their race or gender etc has now become a foreign one to the left. They've abandoned the basic foundations of liberalism and liberal democratic rights. Progressives have become such a dolt lot over the last decade. It's no wonder the Democrats are in shambles with this kind of ludicrous nonsense. These parties have made their bed and now get to lay in it.1 point
