Ahhh, the good ole "Hitler wasn't Hitler until he was Hitler" argument. You really can't trust anyone who isn't Hitler because Hitler wasn't Hitler until he was Hitler.3 points

The population of PEI is about 135,000. The population of Nunavut is 40,758. The population of Ontario is 14.2 million. Yet the Premiers of the provinces get together regularly to make vital decisions affecting Canada. It seems ludicrous that provinces with only a very small population like PEI and Nunavut should have the same voice on this committee of provinces as the provinces like Ontario with 14.2 million and Quebec with 8.5 million people or even B.C. which has a population of 5 million. This is contrary to the principle of democracy which is representation by population. PEI, NS, Nfld, and NB should be combined into one province in the Constitution. Than can still keep the same names they have but should be one province. Nunavut shouldn't even be a province. It is completely irrational that they be a province when their population is no larger than a small city or large town with 40,758 people. Even the city of Prince George is almost twice the size with about 75,000 people. Vancouver Island has a much better case to be a separate province than PEI, NB, and Nfld. The population of Vancouver Island is 865,000. The population of N.B. is 775,610, which is less than Vancouver Island. We really need a fair Constitutional conference that gives everyone as fair voice and vote and draw up a new Constitution redrawing provincial boundaries based on fairness and population. Nunavut gets around the system because they are called a territory, but they are given a seat at the conference of provinces just as if they are a province. Same with the Yukon and NWT. They should not be able to have a separate seat in conferences of provinces. These provinces with small populations have just as much voice and vote in these meetings as the much larger provinces. What is just as bad is FNs groups demanding a seat at the conference of provinces. 5% of the population want to dictate to the other 95% of Canadians how things should be run.2 points

If the economy is doing so well. Why is it essential to cut rates? The tariffs will be inflationary. Trump has held off on a good deal of his tariffs until recently.2 points

I think the feds are favouring the martimes because that is where they get a lot of Liberal votes. Not so much from Vancouver Island. We saw the same scenario when the feds stopped the carbon tax on certain types of heating systems in the maritimes, but not in the rest of Canada. Again votes count.2 points

You know you're in the wrong when even Trump is telling you to stop the genocide. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jul/28/trump-acknowledges-real-starvation-in-gaza-and-tells-israel-to-let-in-every-ounce-of-food October 7th was a horrific terrorist attached and completely unjustifiable. But what the IDF is doing to civilians in Gaza is exponentially worse. I have always taken the position that Israel is a bastion of western democracy alone in a most autocratic region that wants them dead. We should protect them. I'm not so sure anymore. Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal that's clinging to power because he knows that if his coalition collapses, he goes to jail. The US should pull military support for Israel as long as it continues to allow the famine in Gaza. This opinion is not anti semitic. It's anti human suffering. The Pro-Palestinian protestors that annoy us in the West, kind of have a point now. Using the holocaust as justification to commit your own genocide is immoral.1 point

https://x.com/FBIDDBongino/status/1949125573055332672?t=csCzzeS4whgCEeLPczNX0A&s=19 I don't like to do speculation, but this Tweet/post (still not sure what they are since the name change) is getting a lot of attention. Specifically, people are asking what could shake Bongino to the core and change him forever? He was formerly a Secret Service agent. So he's seen how DC works. What could he have uncovered that was so awful that it caused him to Tweet that? And, I have to believe Kash approved that Tweet.1 point

That's one of your dumbest comments. People who have a deeper understanding of things and are aware of the specifics and nuances of the specific issue tend to have more to say, not less to say. Your problem is that you only type with two fingers and one brain cell so you think that we're making some large effort.. Most of my posts are done in under 20 seconds. Just because it takes you a day to think of something and another day to manage to type it out don't assume that that applies to us1 point

We already had fascism here, and a lot of Canadians couldn't get enough of it. There are probably millions of Canadians that would have been happy to see the unvaxed go to "voluntary self-isolation camps" in Siberia. I mean, Yukon.1 point

My posts to you are rarely related to the subject matter of the thread: you don't engage in that manner, so you aren't replied to in that manner. If you think that you have a point to make, you haven't, and just FYI, in the absence of coherent rebuttals from parties in disagreement, the original arguments presented in the thread stand as unchallenged. Sorry but "I fink yewr stinky poo-poo" doesn't carry any weight here. You're levelling up by quite a bit when you leave your circle of illiterate friends to come here. Whatever, Link. Your sandbox insults don't change the fact that Trump is currently calling the shots here in Canada, from DC. That means that a person who we didn't elect, and a gov't that we have no say in, are controlling our country. You can choose to keep our PM de jure in power, and let Trump continue to run roughshod over us, or bring some alternative ideas to the table, but it's very unlikely that the carney can suddenly change his stripes in the middle of this fight. Our dog is losing, but not like a dog in a dogfight, like a rat fighting a Jack Russell.1 point

I never said that it was a debate with you. I simply said that these opening and subsequent posts - usually by conservatives but occasionally by leftists as well - are intended to generate discussion and exchange facts and ideas. I.e., to spark fair and honest debate. It's just your own terrible level of reading comprehension that led you to believe that anyone created a thread specifically because they wanted to debate with you. This forum doesn't prevent people like you from chiming in to fling a bit of poop and muddy the waters (nor should it, because freedom of speech laws don't come with a minimum IQ requirement for you to limbo under), so we have no choice but tolerate you, but we're still waiting for your first adult contribution to the forum. Nunavut is a territory not a province. It used to be part of the NWTs. It's certainly a unique region in this country. So is PEI. You could argue that the Maritimes could all be one single province based on their population. You could also argue Saskatchewan and Manitoba could be one province based on its population relative to the top four provinces. You could also argue that Ontario could be three or four provinces based on specific regions. Who's the arbiter though? Why are there two Dakotas in the US? Why is Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland separate parts of the UK when the England is larger than all of them combined? Sorry for all the questions, but these issues aren't cut and dry.1 point

Trump has put in censorship conditions for CBS to settle a lawsuit with Trump. The FCC also approved the CBS/Paramount merger after capitulating to Trump with anti-DEI pledges and the company creating an ombudsman to monitor political bias in their media. CBS/Paramount capitulated in order to get the deal approved by the FCC. How is this constitutional? South Park just told Trump and their parent company Paramount to go eff themselves. https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/fcc-approves-paramount-skydance-deal-214707761.html1 point

I think it's because of all the CBC whistleblowers, most recently - Travis Dhanraj, who have been exposing the media's propaganda bent. They are trying to save their skins by pretending to now be "unbiased."1 point

Marine Atlantic is an independent crown corporation. No different from BC Ferries which is just important to national infrastructure as Atlantic ferries. This wouldn't have been as much of an issue if the feds hadn't mouthed off about BC's ferry purchase and cut fares on the Atlantic ferries by 50%. Some that cut is being bankrolled by BC taxpayers.1 point

I suspect he and Patel are learning the the corruption is so deep that it's become either legal, or reaches so high that exposing it all would drag the entire power structure down the drain. Draining the swamp completely would likely cause a chaos that would lead to anarchy or worse. Sad...very sad.1 point

As Michael Hardner pointed out in the very first comment to your thread, your own link (the first one) points out the downsides of doing this. I'll quote the point I thought was most relevant: ** Barclays and J.P. Morgan say Cruz's plan won’t deliver savings—it would just shift funds to the reverse repo market. The Fed would still be paying interest, undermining any deficit reduction. Worse, its ability to steer financial conditions would be impaired. ** Source: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/market-stability-threat-cruz-taps-trump-gop-allies-to-push-fed-overhaul/critics-sound-the-alarm/slideshow/121822156.cms1 point

If you want you can find evidence for Israel starving and shooting Gazans and you can find evidence for Israel providing lots of food aid. There's so much "news" pushing different "facts" and narratives out there that I really don't know what to believe anymore, and a lot of journalists/aid organizations and even the UN are filled with people with their own political biases. However, given the France, UK, and Canadian governments, plus even Trump have expressed great concern about the food/famine situation in Gaza i'd wager the situation isn't good there.1 point

Freedom of speech is covered under the freedom of expression as you have been shown...if your entire agreement was it defined as freedom of speech no it was not. it was defined in the fine print in freedom of expression...And it is semantics, and your making a play on words...speech is protected here in Canada...and parks Canada can not override any of our freedoms....at any time, as it is a public domain...They were concerned about protesting groups and the safety of others because snowflakes can't stand the power of words...Snowflakes have control of the conversation, they have done so with many speakers or events from the US even Canada...this is another example....1 point

If he flouted the law arrest him. The fact is actually violate Parks Canada mandate, they're breaking it by denying him his right to speech. You can't be inclusive by excluding people. If he was calling for the death or the like of gay people then sure. But saying that you disagree with Lgbtq organizations isn't the same thing. They are trying to fight what they perceive as hatred and bigotry with even more hatred and bigotry. The left have been pushing for a decade now. And what we've seen in both countries is an increase in hate crimes. Which is entirely predictable. People told the democrats in the south if you keep promoting hatred, if you keep using welfare, if you keep violating people's rights, then when the next guy gets in he's going to use it against you and you will not be happy. They are finding that out right now. So I'll say the same thing to you now. If you steal people's rights because you think that what they have to say isn't a good idea and if you deny people public spaces because you don't approve of their message, this will be used against you in time and you will be unhappy about it1 point

You know you're wrong because if you weren't you wouldn't have to lie. They built something like 300,000 homes or close to a year under harper. That's more than we build now despite having far less immigration. So harper did a lot, things were actually a hell of a lot better. And homes were dirt cheap under Mulroney Harper funded Healthcare to a huge degree. You caught up what the liberals under correction had fallen behind that. In fact harper funded Healthcare to a higher percentage than the liberals do now or have in the last 10 years Harper did a lot for resource development. Of course he was frequently blocked because he had a minority government but he greenlit a number of projects. Now let's talk trade. Harper radically expanded Canada's trade Partnerships, and Trudeau wound up ruining a lot of them. Harper got us the softwood lumber deal, he negotiated better terms for NAFTA, he developed massively higher exports to India and Saudi Arabia, and he created the EU deal which was almost finished when he left. Justin undid all of that and screwed up the European deal because he didn't understand it. Which wound up making it a bad deal for Canada1 point
