For someone whom uses their brain to analyze the situation in the US one would have to come to the conclusion that fiscal responsibility will never be a priority for Trump. It's not his money, it's all about him and his friends and family. The DOGE experiment was a social one. He was only allowed to pillage agencies that handled items that opposed the Trump narrative. If you really want to save money, slashing military spending would be the easiest way to do it. But this BBB increases military spending. In an age where a hostile power can ship death drones next military installation, B2 bombers and Abram tanks seem relatively quaint. I don't know how people can't recognize that everything Trump is doing is geared towards making himself and his billionaire friends even richer. Nothing in here really helps the working class all that much. No tax on tips is a symptom of a society where consumers have to subsidize workers salaries because they don't need to be paid minimum wage. It's all corporate greed. If Elon really believes in fiscal responsibility he should sabotage the GOP politicians that voted for this bill. It'll make following US politics exponentially more entertaining.4 points

I'm in Alberta right now. The separatist movement is alive and well here. The carney will chastise Alberta for the referendum, which will only drive the numbers higher for separation. Personally...I hope they do separate. The feds need a good wake-up call and that would probably do it. It's way past time for real solutions and not this greenie chickenshit.2 points

The only good thing to come out of the Trump taunts on our sovereignty and the surge in Canadian pride is that we may finally get real across the country about what we need to do to make this land and its citizens thrive: eliminating interprovincial trade barriers, expanding trade beyond the U.S., increasing our domestic market for Canadian-made goods, investing heavily in long overdue infrastructure projects like high speed rail, pipelines, ports, deregulation of barriers to business, and domestic military and commercial production of our own vehicles, ships, etc. If our federal and provincial governments finally have the strength and courage to override the ridiculous radical special interests holding us back, then we can call this period the proving ground for the Canadian people and the Canadian nation state. These are the only options for Canada now. Everything else is fluff and pandering to victimhood. Basically the federal government needs to set up an encampment at Stelco and the other major smelters and steelworks and build, build, build. Don’t put workers on welfare. Give them real work of national significance. These policies and projects should’ve been implemented decades ago. As for Carney’s attempt to strike a new “economic and security partnership.” It better not be a capitulation to one-sided tariffs against Canada. It should be an economic union that expands economic and mobility opportunities for Canadians and Americans in equal measure. Live and work anywhere in North America with minimum residency length requirements to draw government benefits. That’s the opportunity. The Trump 51st state rhetoric and surge in Canadian pride over its incumbent flabby economy/Liberal government are side shows that distract and threaten to derail this opportunity for both countries.2 points

There ARE pipelines all over BC liar. Alberta can already triple oil exports through TMX. No one's opposing connecting to or expanding existing LNG pipes. We rejected Northern Gateway oil, get over it. BC is not obligated to risk the Inside Passage for zero benefit out of 'obligation to' or demands from Danielle Smith and the oil companies. So f^ck off with your BS claims that either you or I would gain anything and maybe demand that Danielle STFU and get to negotiating other routes. The people say, not the oil barons.2 points

PM Carney and the Liberals demands on Israel to stop fighting Hamas and demanding a two-state solution 7is the same as the terrorist's comment that killed two Jews Washington the other day saying "free Palestine". The PMs of the UK, Canada and several other countries are now in effect backing the continued existence of Hamas in Gaza. These armchair critics don't know anything about the situation in the middle east and how Israel's enemies want to see Israel eliminated. "For these neo-Nazis, ‘Free Palestine’ is simply the modern version of ‘Heil Hitler,’” Netanyahu said, adding that the shooter “wanted to kill Jews—nothing more." Jews have a 2,000 year history of being the victims of anti-Semitism in Europe and the world. They know what is going on in the middle east. They also know that a so-called two state solution is nothing more than a scheme to destroy Israel because the Palestinians have no interest in peace and no interest in allowing Israel to exist. Netanyahu: “‘Free Palestine’ is simply the modern version of ‘Heil Hitler”1 point

BC is already building pipelines across their own province...and don't sit there and tell me all those native lands that were crossed those people were not compensated for their troubles...this is all about you not liking smith....well lets not forget this federal project is about making an energy corridor across the nation...the whole nation not just up to the BC border...and while Carney did say he would not force anything on the provinces , eluding to quebec, it's hard to build anything if the provinces can't agree...just because they won't...the projects were suppose to align with the energy corridor... like BC pipeline getting BC Natural gas to the coast....hardly fair to do that then tell Alberta screw you we don't like you... And the last pipeline that got built, i suppose BC'er had nothing to do with stopping that, and i also suppose the feds did not invest tones of money to those that said no....which might explain it costing 30 plus billion... This entire liberal idea of making this corridor is a great idea, unfortunately it is but a pipe dream, this country is to divided to make it worth while....BC attitudes on pipelines is a prime example of this...this is not about BC vs Alberta, but rather getting Canada's resources to market, making it a energy superpower that was the dream...and it will always be a dream.1 point
-
I'm not shitting on BC, but responding to herbie the love bug...and the BC government in response to Alberta's inquiries...they are not interested in pipelines at this time, and yet they are building one themselves across the province...it makes no sense. I mean the entire idea here is to create a projects that will make "Canada"more prosperous...to create a energy corridor across the nation...how do you do that with out more pipelines...BC needs more pipelines or they would not be building one themselfs, so why not another bringing Alberta's oil and gas to market as well, is it just because it is Alberta....what about Sask could they build it? Just the asian market alone is a huge market for natural gas let alone other oil products why would we cut our noses off despite our faces... As for the East i take it you mean Quebec...well i think that is coming,Alberta wants pipelines going into churchill first, i personally think this is a waste of time , but it will open a northern port which we need....Quebec has already a taste for natural gas pipelines, and it seems that a majority of Quebecer's want it to...But they are in the same boat as BC, it may come down to driving oil pipelines through Quebec as a condition to get their natural Gas pipeline...right now the quickest project would be drive a line through BC. what BC gets is good paying jobs, and investments made to BC...1 point

That's not what UN peacekeepers do....they observe and report, or sit and watch they do not prevent any attacks Oct 7 was a total c0ck up by Israelis defence department....Palestinian terrorist took advantage of the lack of security or they would still be picking up pieces of terrorist along the fence line... Here we go,reparations for what exactly why is it Canada's responsibility to protect palestinians, we had very little role to play in the palestinians condition...stop them with what exactly the Palestinians are better armed than we are, pull your head out of the sand....everyone of these palestinians terrorist groups need to be destroyed....if anything we should be sending our military in there to help Israel defend its country... Yes i do, they don't exist today, do they ? and yet a terrorist group has been in charge of gaza and west bank for more than 50 years....palestinians keep electing them over and over again, they don't want peace they want to destroy israel they live and breath that sh!t...this will stop when all the terrorists are destroyed. or Israel is destroyed... You have no idea what your talking about....what sh!t storm do you think that would cause in the middle east..and if that was the case US spec forces could end this over night....but then what would you have to complain about then...1 point

LMAO highly unlikely with those 2 megalomaniacs. That’s not to say they won’t have some future business arrangement. Where are you getting this from? The bill CUTS $1.7T in mandatory spending. And that is all it can do. In order to pass a full budget, there has to be 2/3rds majority in the Senate. That isn't going to happen. So, the Senate will use reconciliation. Reconciliation only needs a simple majority. Under reconciliation, only mandatory spending can be passed. Since discretionary spending needs a 2/3rds vote, there is only one other budgetary maneuver that can be employed, rescission. Rescission only needs a simple majority in the House and Senate. The White House has stated that they will be sending numerous rescission packages for approval. In part, the packages will be sent as they go and based on how easily they can pass.1 point

Ya, that's how I see most of it too. Some of it's interesting from a historical and clinical perspective (I guess) but that's about it. At the end of the day you're inevitably left with the here and now and withinin that realm, HAMAS is lock wired into ideologically driven religious objectives and those objectives are most definitely NOT political ones. Political objectives can be negotiated and compromises are possible, those efforts can even happen peacefully. On the other hand, the religious objectives of HAMAS simply can't be negotiated because only the destruction of Israel and rebuilding on the rubble will suffice and I don't see that happening. Do you? Does anyone here? 11 pages in and the real issue remains unaddressed. I've spent a fair bit of time there training and on multiple deployments and I always ask people with strong opinions and little experience in the area the same question.... If you do not support the eradication of HAMAS as a functioning entity, how do you propose to negotiate with them? You either eradicate HAMAS or you negotiate with them and I see the latter option as analogous to the abusive and psychotic ex-husband of your current fiancé who just got out of prison for attempted murder... he has repeatedly vowed to be successful on the next attempt. So.... if y'all got a plan to negotiate with this guy then bring it forward, your Nobel Peace Prize awaits. IMO, anything else, no matter how historically accurate or entertaining is truly: Full marks for entertainment value and historical context, especially the emotionally charged stuff, unfortunately though, stark reality renders it just as academic as the childhood abuses your girl's ex endured 50 years ago. You may sympathize with his history and stolen childhood, but he gets out of jail next week... and sympathy is found in the dictionary somewhere between sh%t and syphilis. Best of luck.1 point

You show your total ignorance on this topic. Many illegal migrants were just fleeing from a dire situation in the countries they came from. Poverty, violence, and gangs are common. People are also threatened by gangs. So many of these people were just trying to find a safe place for them and their families. You would do the same thing in their situation. That's why your comments show you just don't understand the situation of many of these people. If you are a Christian, you should show it with a little more empathy and love for downtrodden and desperate people.1 point

The SCOTUS has ruled that immigration must give detainees due process much greater than the 24 hours they were being given, but DHS has been ROUTINELY ignoring that requirement. That has been called a Constitutional crisis. They've been caught ON CAMERA trying to sneak busloads off to airports to fly them to foreign countries and in some cases those busses turned around and brought them back, after being filmed.1 point

They are not secret police. The fact that their names are not instant public information doesn't make them secret police. They are all part of an established chain of command with their names clearly on file. I guess the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt was part of the secret police because he was not immediately identified after the shooting? This is normal police business. It is comical how you folks on the left only respected law enforcement for the 2 hours they got beaten by folks on the right, only in as much as you could use them as props to attack Republicans. Now it is back to hating the police.1 point

Well it's a tough row to hoe for sure, but i'm sure his many years experience as a politician will help to.... oooooh wait..... These guys are absolute pros and manufacturing bullshit and getting people worked up for the 5 minutes it takes to get elected But at the end of the day he doesn't care. He's going to spend his time funneling money into consultants and agencies outside of Canada who will pay him huge dollars when he leaves politics. Way to soon for an election, Let's wait until we see what deal we get on the tariffs and how things work out in the next 6 months...They are not starting off on the right foot, internals problems within his cabinet, first bill is a failure, as much as i'd like to see carney and the liberals fail...lets wait until we get on somewhat stable ground tariff wise first.... We need the NDP to find a much better leader, that will suck liberal votes away, we really need liberal voters to start regretting their choices...If there is a election we need a conservative majority....so PP can start fixing problems...1 point
