He's not wrong, but it's a bit of a strawman, isn't it? Who's blaming Trump for the last 30 years of economic fecklessness in Canada? Even the original NAFTA was a failure in many regards, with the promise from the US for a certain percentage of research funding to be based in Canada only being honored for a few years before it was abandoned with no challenge from our governments.4 points

even posters like ecos with the absolutely detestable Frank Greaves who swore he would use his powers to defeat poilievre now show the liberals and conservatives at basically a tie after weeks of insisting that there was double digit spreads between them I don't know why but a lot of posters this election put their thumbs on the scales I think. You look at their methodologies and you look at what they said and there were a few that were fairly honest but most were less so. As I predicted a few days ago now that we're getting close to the end they're all going to pretend that they're pulling is saying it's magically a tie. Last night, everybody changed their minds and that hugely leads vanished and wow it's actually a tie now who'da thunk it This will allow them to pretend that they were at least close no matter who wins. It's pretty obvious from some of the commentary that they believe that the conservatives are trending right now and have momentum. The poles are currently showing a liberal minority. I have a funny feeling we're going to see a conservative minority in reality but you never know. If that happens I expect that mark carney will drop out of politics and go do something else despite having promised that he was in it for the long haul win or lose. Hopefully at that point the conservatives will call a snap election and say seeing as they got A free ride in the last leadership race there's no point in waiting for them to finish this one2 points

Bank accounts frozen, gas stolen, peaceful protesters beaten on the street like Rodney King, a gesundheitspass, forced vaccinations, Canadians killed by a pseudovax that they were forced to take, innocent protesters trampled by horses, a tyrannical PM calling people "racists and misogynists" for no reason and asking Canadians if should they should even be 'tolerated'... Go to hell you worthless f'ing loser.2 points

Thanks to being inundated with leftist anti-natalist propaganda and engineered mainstreamed culture for decades. Just look at all of their causes: lgbt, feminism, abortion, anti-Christian, and climate change/overpopulation hysteria. They have no desire to acknowledge these issues, the downstream effects, and promote internal solutions. It justifies mass immigration, wiping every single White majority country off the map as karma for colonialism.2 points

It's deeper than that especially if you take the view Trump is a symptom and more effect than cause. If America can produce the conditions where a leader like Trump can exist then anything is possible.2 points

Ladies and gentlemen...its this kind of thinking and attitude that's gotten us where we are today. Divided and bordering on mass violence. See...These Libbies demand that no opposition to them be allowed to exist. In fact...I'd postulate that given time, in the face of constant opposition, they'd begin shooting people. And they would do it with a righteous indignation that is quite staggering. One day, a group not unlike the one we're discussing here, will attack the wrong person or people. They will find themselves face to face with an opposition that has a bad temper and formidable capabilities. The solution to this sort of childish behaviour is simple. Round them up and put them in cages. Bless them with criminal records.2 points

It was all part of the plan to make it look like bringing in Carney was a massive change. LPOC with Trudeau: 😭🤯 LPOC with Carney: 💪🥰 "OMG, LOOK! IT'S A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PARTY NOW! 100%!!! I DON'T EVEN RECOGNIZE ANYONE!!!"2 points

What I don't see is legitimate reasons to like Carney, or to trust him, and I don't see Canadians being warm to him. There are now half a dozen solid reasons to consider Carney a massive liar, he's a global elite with no track record of working for the little guy, and he's not even a Canadian. He actually calls himself a European when he's in Europe. Aside from fake polling and the CBC saying "Carney is awesome", no one here can come up with any reasons to say what's awesome about him. And they won't even try to defend his integrity. He's a total zero in that regard.2 points

Trump's a bully gasbag, that's a given. He's also not a quitter. Clever in a dubious way . . . he's 'chosen' the weaker of the two leading Canadian PM contenders. He's 'chosen' Mark Carney to deal with. This is just good business on his part. Carney's making a fool of himself now - advertising himself as the 'only one' to deal with a conniving US President. The Canadian citizen/taxpayers are the real losers in this charade . . .2 points

Quantifying Why Democrats Support Open Borders A Center for Immigration Studies report released today quantifies why Democrats support, or are indifferent to, open borders. The figures underlying the study may stun even the strongest proponents of border security. The net effect of increases in both legal and illegal immigration in the 2020 Census shifted 17 House seats and 17 Electoral College votes, resulting in a net gain of 14 seats in Blue States — ten seats shifting from red states and four from battleground states. That Democratic net gain is greater than the respective electoral votes of all but ten states. In part because districts with high percentages of noncitizens tend to vote Democrat, “of the 24 districts where one in five adults is not an American citizen, 20 were won by a Democrat in 2022. In contrast, the Democrat won in just five of the 54 districts where 98 percent of adults are citizens.” Millions of illegal aliens have flooded the country during the Biden presidency. An indeterminate number — estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands — have been flown into the country by the Biden administration and deposited in certain jurisdictions. Increasingly, Democrats needn’t be concerned about persuading American voters. They’ve gained electoral votes by the addition — strategic or otherwise — of illegal immigrants. This is a “fundamental transformation” of the country. https://www.congress.gov/119/meeting/house/117827/documents/HHRG-119-JU01-20250122-SD011.pdf1 point

Liberal platform: Carney promises $130B in new spending Mark Carney’s plan for Canada includes $130 billion in new spending which will see the country run deficits until at least the fiscal year 2028-2029. 2025-26: $62.3B -- > 1.96% of DGP 2026-27: $59.9B -- > 1.83% of GDP 2027-28: $54.8B -- > 1.61% of GDP 2028-29: $47.8B -- > 1.35% of DGP and then magically in year five I suppose he'll go to balanced budget by somehow managing to eliminate that 47 billion that he had sticking around in 28/29 Blanchet was right to call this a harry potter budget. "there's no way this is possible" 'STUPIFY!!!!' "oh it all makes sense now....."1 point

Let's recap. They were complaining that they couldn't get back from a country they couldn't get into without a vax card in the first place. You already had to show a passport you had to pay for, pay for photo, get witnesses and notarized for but that wasn't inconvenient and getting a free shot and card was. They insisted Trudeau did it, not the Health or Border people. Tried to escalate by blocking international borders and threatening police Blocked roads in the capital and caused public disturbances, disrespected public sites and monuments, refused to disperse for weeks until someone finally acted. Blamed Trudeau for being the one that did. Thought the Governor General had to act on a petition of disgruntled people and dissolve an elected Parliament. And in the end got little more than a whack on the pee-pee. And some braindead fools are years later still wasting bandwidth snivelling about it, acting like they were f*cking heroes and martyrs. Perhaps they'd like PP if he wins, to copy another magatt move and issue a blanket pardon like their hero did to the Jan 6 hooligans. Like FFS pi$$ off on the subject. As stupid a PP is losing by carrying on about Trudeau - they're OVER, GONE, yesterday's news. Move on.1 point

As point of fact an election platform is not “an actual budget” And Ive already posted one article and one video explaining how his “the budget will almost balance itself” magic numbers aren’t realistic. His numbers project without any basis in reality that the economy will grow so massively under his stewardship that even though he’s massively cut taxes and there’s a global trade war likely to cause recession somehow the budget will balance itself. Exactly who are these “economists” verifying his flimsy numbers? Some no -name Fraser Institute hacks no doubt. Meanwhile Carney actually is a world-renowned economist. I am sure he had a team and Inam sure he was closely involved because unlike PP this is Carney’s area of expertise and the only reason people are voting for him. Being an globally renowned expert economist is his whole brand and most of his career, and its the centrepiece of his platform. No way he’s just leaving it up to others to work on.1 point

About as much as posting bullshit that Carney is the liar when PP's campaign consists almost totally of lies. And you're simple minded magatt response to anyone that calls out a real lie to accuse them of being the liar. DUmb enough for him to hand out a platform of continued deficits and imaginary numbers and call him the fiscally responsible c andidate.1 point

Stephen J Harper used to love Carney. Recommended him for the Order of Canada, which he received in 2014. https://www.canada.ca/en/news/archive/2012/11/statement-prime-minister-canada-bank-canada-governor-mark-carney-appointment-bank-england.html In this time of global economic uncertainty, Governor Carney has done an admirable job in fulfilling the Bank of Canada’s mandate and has been a valued partner as the Government has worked to steer Canada away from the worst impacts of the global economic recession. As a result, Canada remains an example to the world with its strong banks, effective regulatory environment and sound economic policy.1 point

It's not just Polly or Carney, it's the entire world of legislators, regulators and enforcement that have no idea about the severe and mostly irreversible damage to the most fundamental of species (phytoplankton) that are the top of the food chain of the entire planet - and the primary use of carbon. Most of this damage done by plastic waste - and of course the microplastic issue is now a problem for ALL life forms on the planet. Our collective ignorance is merely reflected by half-wit politicians. The sad part is there are plastic-like resins that can easily replace many uses of plastics with materials that are not only fully bio-degradable but are actually soil nutrients. Meanwhile the plastics industry that is the forefront of making life on this planet unsustainable continues to convince politicians they can "recycle" and make the problem go away. Pure 100% BS.1 point

Advertising just has a far different character than editorial comment. When the globe and Mail makes editorial comment, it's a serious consideration. They will typically write a single piece, with a reasoned argument as to why they as an entity support a candidate and their party. While it is an opinion, it's a reflection of the character of the institution ultimately. The bar is far lower for advertising. The message comes without attribution to a source, and there is no expectation of reason behind it, and there is no accountability for the message. In fact, people had to research that anti -muslim van message to in fact determine where it came from. They're just not the same thing. .... You have to read Neil postman... In his book Amusing Ourselves to Death he examines that length the problems with the decline of seriousness in our public sphere, in how issues are covered. Today everything is a narrative, an interesting story, a hook with a villain and a hero. The Public sphere no longer supports taking even a few minutes to try to be objective, to look at data. It doesn't even support having public figures are disciplined in this regard. As such, the landscape becomes the domain of the storyteller and the liar. A good charlatan can spin anything to make themselves look good, in the absence objective criticism. This is where we are today.1 point

If by a few weeks ago you mean a few months ago that might be accurate. A few weeks ago they had the liberals up. And frankly if you look back a few weeks ago I was saying the polls didn't seem accurate then either so that kind of shoots your whole theory down1 point

A yawning opportunity for them to do what, exactly? Get ignored by the MSM outlets that got hundreds of millions of dollars from Trudeau, courtesy of the taxpayers? They don't have to falsify their data at election time, they can dial it in close for election day, as they always do. "The Libs are just a little bit ahead now in the popular vote..." is the election eve quote, followed by "Awwwww, the pollsters were so close. the CPC was up by 2%. But the pollsters really noticed how the CPC were closing in at the end there 😉😉." **The job of the pollsters that CBC chooses to give credence to is to have polls that back CBC's narratives** When it's 1 month from election time, do you think CBC wants to say: "Poilievre's campaign has all the momentum right now, his message is clearly resonating with mainstream Canadians", or "Poilievre is still only appealing to the hard-core conservatives: minorities and people in the centre are choosing the LPOC candidate because they think he is better at the thing on this other chart. Look at the gap in the polls on this subject, which voters consider the key to this election." Then they'll point to a chart that says "Everyone thinks that this guy will be better at dealing with that thing". And not one bit of it has to be true. CBC just needs to able to speak glowingly of the LPOC candidate, and their policies, and polls are the key to doing that. "The cool kids all think that our, I mean the LPOC candidate is better at this." Do you think that CBC wants to admit that Carney's constant, massive lies are having an effect on polling? Are they gonna allow a legitimate poll that actually shows "which candidate voters see as having the most integrity"? And then have a discussion about why that would be the case? They'll talk about straws, abortion, global warming, how Carney singlehandedly saved Canada in '08 while Harper and Flaherty were standing there in awe, etc. The topic of Carney's laundry list of lies never made the debates and it won't be a topic in the news either. Nor will the Chinese gov't's support, the Lib MPs who worked with China, etc, etc. That's all backburner sh1t. Straws, man. This election is about straws now. CBC News page right now: There's actually nothing at all about Carney on that page right now. Nothing. If you scroll down it's more not-so-positive stuff about Piolievre:1 point

These environmental wackos need to go over to China and India and some other third world countries and see what they do with their plastics and other garbage. Sweet nothing. Shocking. The streets and oceans are full of plastic and garbage and even dead animals. Environmental wackos should go over to those many countries and start with cleaning up the environment over there. All those pictures that have been shown here are all pictures of the plastic garbage and other garbage piling up in some of those third world countries beaches and oceans. Massive immigration has been a disaster for our environment. Something the environmentalists will never mention anything about. All the problems in Canada today are all pretty much due to massive immigration. Believe it or not. 😇1 point

As a fan of the network upon which Pete Hegseth was recently a pundit--another job for which he had no real qualifications, but at dramatically lower stakes--it's clear that you have no idea of journalistic standards. If multiple outlets are confirming it from multiple sources, it happened. And the irony of your post is over the top hilarious. You "knowing" and it being "proven" that Garcia is a gang member based on a tip--no evidence. You call him a wife beater? Hegseth's own mother called him an abuser in writing. Abrego Garcia has been in this country 16 years with steady employment, no criminal record and a lasting marriage. While Hegseth has been certainly accused of rape, sexual harassment, alcoholism and more. And Abrego Garcia has never put our military at risk. Maybe Hegseth should be deported? He should definitely be fired. --and let's not let it go unmentioned that you're trying to hand-wave away a court order in favor of executive fiat. Poo-poo to the rule of law! The Liberal gov't needs to destroy what that rig stands for. That's all this is about. It says a lot about someone. Do they not wonder why the Libs are going so hard and so ferociously after Barber and Lich after pushing soft on crime legislation for the last 10 years? They were found guilty of mischief. Mischief is a misdemeanor. Do you really want the gov't doing this for misdemeanors, but letting the person who hit & run and killed a 7 year old girl in Surrey a couple weeks ago was out on bail in less than a day? What the fuque is the matter with you people?1 point

Yup, the game here is to over-promise before the end of every election cycle then to under-deliver and blame the previous government. The Liberals can’t do that because they’ve been in for three terms. We’re likely to get another Liberal government due to the usual Liberal-influenced fear-mongering from media. I predict that more money will be given to designated victim groups for no reason other than ethnicity/skin colour, more growth in government bureaucracy and over-spending will take place, and we’ll get nothing for it. Housing will remain unaffordable. No high speed rail line will get built. The military will remain under-funded at below 2% of GDP. No refineries or pipelines will be built. More sob stories about historic injustice will abound from the designated victim groups. More debt will accumulate. Carney will walk away unscathed and enjoy an opulent retirement. Canadians will insist that they are independent of the U.S. but elect parties that do nothing to strengthen Canada. I want to be proven wrong.1 point
