Go back in time and ask any nation resisting Hitler why it’s being unreasonable and prolonging the slaughter. We live in a topsy-turvy world where those who saw reds under every bed want to sleep with them instead.4 points

Biden wasn't fighting nor sending soldiers to fight. He WAS complying with our security guarantee in the Budapest Memorandum by giving them the arms THEY NEED. BOTH Putin and Trump are RENEGING, and you're ON THEIR SIDE and proud to be there. 🤮3 points

The article argues that the Freedom Convoy was not an insurrection but a legitimate protest against government overreach. It refutes claims that the convoy was violent, extremist, or attempted to overthrow the government, highlighting inconsistencies in media and political narratives. The author criticizes the use of emergency powers, freezing of bank accounts, and the treatment of convoy leaders like Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, calling it an authoritarian overreach. The piece also challenges accusations of foreign funding, Nazi affiliations, and business disruptions, citing legal rulings and intelligence reports that found no security threats. Ultimately, the article warns that labeling protests as insurrections sets a dangerous precedent for democracy. Read the article here: https://substack.com/home/post/p-1586304512 points

As explained by Helen Mirren on FB. the strongest thing you can do is walk away—not because you have nothing to say, but because you recognize that some people aren’t ready to listen. LIARS are never ready to listen. They are just here to beat you over the head with their NONSENSE and INSULTS. That is why I have 4 on ignore now.2 points

Lake Kaweah predates Newsom and Trump's time in office. It was built in 1962 for flood control and agriculture. To get the water from Lake Kaweah to LA would demand that they build an aqueduct. That takes more than a few seconds.. by the way. So releasing the water from this lake and thinking that it would affect Pacific Palisades shows a profound lack of knowledge of the geography. All this does is ensure that there will be less water available for agriculture in July and August.2 points

How do people still believe this? Who lifted a finger for Gaza? Who would have lifted a finger for Ukraine if the US had not intervened? Have you not noticed that the world does not tend to do much of anything other than issue condemnation statements via the UN? There is exactly one country aggressive enough to threaten to, and start war on behalf of other countries, and it's the very country you are pretending 'the world' will somehow keep in line. It's utter fantasy.2 points

Biden inherited a broken economy from Trump. The damage was reversed and Biden handed Trump a robust economy--which Trump seems dead set on breaking in obvious ways. Trump did promise to reverse Biden's accomplishments. The MAGA cultists probably didn't realize that meant aggressively reversing the economic prosperity as well.2 points

So has every MAGA hat that has a lot of market exposure in their 401K's or pension plans. For certain we are headed for a recession and are probably in one already. Before Trump only bankrupted his own companies, now he is saying, Hold My Beer.2 points

Lord Haw-Haw speaks up again. Anyone that stands up for Ukraine is a leftist now. Or doesn't think they should surrender and bend to MAGA blackmail wants the war?2 points

As long as Ukrainians have the will to fight for their freedom, they should be supported. We were supposed to protect them in exchange for nuclear disarmament. We've not lived up to that bargain. The least we can do now is to provide the conventional equipment they need to defend themselves. Freedom is not free, but it's not up to Trump to decide how much freedom is worth to another people, what sacrifices they should be willing to make. Let the Ukrainians choose the terms for themselves.2 points

And And wastes it simply to throw accusations, lies, and vague promises and no real leadership. His lame ads against Carney as 'just another Justin' and re-running Singh 'only in it for the pension' point out in spades they're incapable of adapting to any change in situations. As does his late to the bandwagon appeal to nationalism even as he copies the Republican theme of their US campaign. Loser.2 points

This is the petty, vindictive intolerance we can expect from the political left now? Just pure criminal thuggery going on right now. Molotov cocktails, arson and graffiti: Tesla facilities attacked in wake of Elon Musk's role in the White House https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tesla-violence-protest-elon-musk/ "Graffiti on a Tesla dealership sign. Molotov cocktails thrown in another dealership's lot. Tesla charging stations set on fire. Across the country, the electric vehicle company's facilities and vehicles are being hit with protests and violence over Elon Musk's role in the Trump administration."1 point

Is this election all about the bogeyman for you, eyeball? Is climate change really your hill to die on? If you completely eliminate CC from your election wants and needs, what else is important to you? I honestly feel like you're just going to read the answer from a CBC article... I've never seen anyone as devoted to a single news source as you are.1 point

Hey there! My name is Kevin and I'm the President of Prime Rogue Inc - we're a Calgary-based holdings firm specializing in AI and intelligence. I am absolutely not here to sell anything and I think this is compliant with forum rules. Long-story short, I've written a piece where I argue that cutting off potash supplies to the US is our most viable pathway to balancing Trump in relation to the tariffs. The argument is that the downstream effects of a Potash cutoff would be quite catastrophic for the American farming industry. I'm finding that a lot of Canadians and Americans either don't know what potash even is or think it's too extreme. I'm wondering if I'm the one being made delirious by anger at the Yanks or if I'm in the right ballpark. My full deep-dive is linked below and I'd appreciate any thoughts! Cheers, Kevin https://primerogueinc.com/blog/the-potash-war-how-canada-can-cripple-u-s-agriculture-and-force-a-reckoning1 point

That's not the intent of carbon taxes. The point of the tax is to change our behaviour, the way taxes that reduce for example our use of tobacco will stop or slow heart or lung disease. The only way to prevent worsening AGW is to reduce our use of fossil fuels. He doesn't make climate change an issue because the climate changes all the time. The real issue is AGW. And he needs these worried voters support to win. That means he intends to virtue signal. In his case that will mean subsidizing fossil fuel companies to 'invest' in unproven, ineffective, hellishly expensive methods to make it appear as if he is controlling the climate. Of course he's not going to tax industry he's going to subsidize it and pass these costs on to you the taxpayer. And you can bet the oil companies will pass their costs onto you as well. I suppose it could be argued that his 'plan' might also incentivize people to change their behaviour and look for cheaper alternatives but at a lot more expense and with no rebates for lower income people who need the help and subsidies for wealthy people who don't. Maybe, Carney says the same thing and I would expect there'll be lots of expensive subsidies for nuclear power too. It'll still take several years largely I think because there will be resistance to relaxing the environmental and safety regulations that will unleash the nuclear industry.1 point

So you're admitting i'm right? Are you having an extra stupid day? Tesla has done nothing wrong. The people who work for tesla have done nothing wrong. Musk is ONE of the MANY owners in tesla, he's not tesla. By burning private property that has absolutely nothing to do with what their protesting? Tesla didn't do anything wrong So your idea of democracy is random violence and thuggery?1 point

PP is a climate change denier plain and simple. Carbon tax election? LMAO! He clearly doesn't have the balls, honesty or integrity to call it a climate change is bullshit election.1 point

Oh yeah! I heard one crazy conspiracy where Klaus Schwab allegedly bragged about 'penetrating the Cabinets' of certain governments. And (supposedly) he even claimed that half of said Cabinet members were 'the young global leaders of the WEF'. That never happened...right?😵1 point

It's not just Trump that's making Canadians back away from PP, the whole right-wing brand is wearing thin. Vote woke go broke? It seems voting for the angry hard-boiled MAGA vision for the future is making people even more broke if plunging stock markets and fear of a Trump induced recession grows.1 point

This is no hypothetical but real and practical matter. It already happened. Who can say it won't happen again? To throw 100 billion with that kind of a security hole is not even carelessness more like insanity.1 point

This is no hypothetical matter anymore. It was done already with F-16 given to Ukraine. We aren't talking about hypothetical risks but real and present ones.1 point
-
It's about way more than sending a message and even "killswitch". As the incident in Ukraine with F-16 shows there's mandatory maintenance of certain critical functions that has to happen regularly. And as facts show now, an American administration can shut it down at any time with no notice or recourse. That can disable critical functions or even the fighter as a whole, if a mandatory update was missed. Guess in the easy times we glanced over it as a necessary maintenance (and the revenue stream for the manufacturer) but now the question cannot be avoided, what if it's another hook, same effect and way easier to maintain than the "killswitch"? Just imagine a not-so-hypothetical situation, a developing crisis in the Arctics with some hostile party (guess) but they happen to be buddies with the U.S. administration and the latter wants to "deescalate". All of a sudden you have to tantalize, to lift them off with critical functions disabled or keep grounded with nothing to deter the adversary. Or if Russia attacking Baltics or Poland. What kind of brainless carelessness could justify overlooking such possibilities, given all what transpired recently? Could it be for that very reason that UK has Typhoons, France Mirages, Sweden Gripens and a coalition of Europeans, Eurofighter? A critical dependence in such matters is measured not in dollars but in percent fractions of the independence and sovereignty lost.1 point

because he wasn't even here for the carbon tax thing Mt PP Puppet. The fact PP can't stretch everything so far from the truth and outright lie to copy the Trump campaign is his biggest failing. Counting on people stupid enough to believe him is his 2nd.1 point

Why would we think your judgement is sound? Weren’t you a Trump fan?1 point

Why would we cancel a program for the air force that is a 5th generation aircraft, that is now the cheapest and best on the market, the only NON american fighter that is worth anything is the Euro fighter which is far more expensive , and is only a 4.5 generation which it's replacement is being worked on as we speak. This has the makings of some dumb liberal decision, like our canceling our maritime helicopters contract or justins saying no he would not buy f-35 in the first place...., it would take years to pick a new fighter and get a place on the production line, at double the costs....why would that make sense.... because you don't like trump, he is going to be gone before our first F-35 aircraft is operational.1 point

The dumb fvck wants to put a 250% tariff on all dairy even thought it only applies to some items over the amount negotiated in USMCA. We imported over $700M in dairy last year and exported less than $300M to the US so lets each of us apply a 250% tariff to all dairy and see who's farmers hurt the most. Our dairy farmers would just love the stupid SOB.1 point

Perhaps. Also four years anticipation and the sense of vindication probably plays a role. Hopefully he'll settle down into more of a routine and just run the country and we'll see how he does.1 point

Actually quoting what I said is fine. Making up what I'm saying is your problem. When you try to make the debate about what you want my point to be, rather than what I'm telling you it is, you're just arguing with yourself. Can you provide the quote where I said that? No, because It doesn't exist. Even when you're engaging in these useless word games, you're still making shit up. 🤡👌 "Backing them" doesn't mean the US will sail the 7th fleet into the Straits of Taiwan and support them in the event of an invasion. No, what's really stopping China from invading is that taking an armed-to-the-teeth mountain fortress with 1,000,000 reservists via amphibious assault would be a bloodbath - juice not worth the squeeze. I'm not ignoring it, I'm saying that it's deluded MAGA clownworld nonsense. As expected, and as we're seeing, everything Trump has done thus far has weakened Ukraine's position and strengthened Russia's. That's the reality. That's a fact, and you're left coping and rationalizing about how Trump "just wants peace". You sound just like Nationalist now. 🤣1 point

Right, as Zelensky has also publically disagreed and gone against Trump as well. We are not Ukrainians piggy bank forever and for Zelensky to presume that was a bad move. Especially when he knows what Trump wants. Yet again... you have nothing to offer as to what the alternative is here.1 point
