  1. You can’t win with MAGA because they don’t care whether they are wrong or right. They have abandoned truth in favour of the fight. All that matters to them is “getting” the other side. (I’ve seen this attitude in these forums.) That’s why they respond so favourably when Trump posts something hate-inciting like this: Jul 20th 2024 - 10:12:25 PM EST Consider Musk’s recent post below Musk’s claim that these people are collecting social security is so obviously untrue (to anyone with a grain of intelligence, which I assume Musk has) and easily disproved. Simple math with these figures shows that if these payments in the table were being made, Social Security would cost about $1 trillion dollars more a year than it actually does. The numbers just don’t work. So why is Musk lying? And not caring if he does? Because he knows MAGA will respond, without regard to whether it’s true or not. Musk baits MAGA, who will use this as ammunition in their manufactured “fight.” They don’t care if the numbers are wrong - just like they don’t care if Trump is a dictator. The outrage of the “other side” is the goal. (As one MAGA member here said – it’s about freaking them out.) Like Trump, Musk manipulates with lies, and it causes me great concern for the country that many are susceptible to this manipulation.

  6. IMO, all of this has a distinct "why are you surprised" flavour to it especially when all it took to avoid it was not being bat sh%$ crazy. There was no shortage of people (including right here) suggesting that obvious law-fare tactics could easily (even likely) be turned against the very people cheering it on if there was a change in political fortunes. In the world of aviation incident/accident cause factors it's called the "normalization of deviation" and it usually leads to heartache at a systemic level. Almost invariably it gets worse with time, usage and acceptance... I don't think partisan law-fare is going away now and in due course it will once again be Democrats buffing their claws and smiling... after all, they invented it. I remember reading this article some time ago and thinking "ya, wouldn't it be ironic and well deserved if." It took a few minutes to track it down but here ya go FWIW... MSN from about 9 months ago and it begs a pretty simple question: "WTF did you think was going to happen?" https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/opinion-democrats-should-fear-lawfare-tactics-being-turned-against-them/ar-AA1o8MYy

  7. Everyone knows there is virtually no waste or fraud in government spending...right? Nevada Woman Pleads Guilty to Nearly $100 Million COVID-19 Tax Credit Fraud The IRS warned last year that the vast majority of an employment tax credit program it reviewed showed ‘risk of being improper.’ A woman from Nevada involved in defrauding the United States of tens of millions of dollars’ worth of COVID-19 pandemic tax credits has pleaded guilty in the case, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Candies Goode-McCoy of Las Vegas “conspired with others to file tax returns seeking fraudulent refunds based on the employee retention credit (ERC) and paid sick and family leave credit,” the agency said in a Feb. 14 statement. “From around June 2022 through September 2023, McCoy filed approximately 1,227 false tax returns for her businesses and others claiming these refundable credits.” In total, the fraudulent claims sought more than $98 million in refunds, of which the IRS paid out roughly $33 million, according to the DOJ statement. McCoy received more than $1.3 million in these refunds and received about $800,000 in payments from clients for whom she knowingly filed fraudulent returns, according to the statement.

  9. Trump continues to push to make Canada the 51st state using glaringly false economic claims. In the video, he says, “Canada has been bad to us on trade … (they) have to start paying up … $200 billion in subsidies … we don’t need their product … who the hell made these deals, they’re so bad.” Let’s look at his words and find out how they are false. First, he needs to learn the difference between a subsidy and a trade deficit. Trump claims that the bilateral U.S. deficit in merchandise trade with Canada amounts to the U.S. “subsidizing” Canada. This claim has no economic merit whatsoever… Trump’s claim Canada is subsidized by the U.S. through this bilateral deficit is laughable – and Trump’s economic team surely understand that. They are many things (aggressive, corrupt, and untruthful), but they are not ignorant. Rather, they are trying to drown out rational discussion of this issue in a barrage of threats and bluster. Second, the $200 B figure it completely made up. Trump’s claim the bilateral deficit is $200 billion is an utter fabrication. The bilateral deficit was $40 billion (U.S.) in 2023 according to U.S. data, down 29% from 2022. It fell another 9% during the first 9 months of 2024. Compared to a two-way trade flow of almost $1 trillion (U.S.) per year, this imbalance is puny. Third, they do need our product. Just consider the energy sector: Canadian energy (including oil, gas, coal, and electricity) made up 60% of the total bilateral merchandise trade deficit over the last decade. Having access to a secure and lower-cost energy source is a major benefit for U.S. businesses and consumers. (The US enjoys a strong surplus in services trade and investment income flowing out of Canada, but Trump never mentions this.) Fourth – he’s really relying on the short memories of his MAGA base when he comments that “Who the hell made these deals, they’re so bad." It was him! In 2018, and at the time he called it “the best trade deal ever made.” How do you negotiate with a country that so clearly operates in bad faith? Canada Subsidizes the U.S., not the Other Way Around

I don't even recall as trying any of the rest of the crap. Anyway, with respect to the issue of trump and the Ukraine situation like it or not @User Is correct, if other countries disagree with what trump is doing they can of course give ukraine any of the support and help it needs to continue to fight the war without the Americans. It's not like America is going to join the Russian side and fight against Ukraine, if France or Germany or Canada wants to continue to support Ukraine we're free to do so to make that happen. It'll just cost a lot of money.

  12. Yeah. At the end of the day for better or for worse this is pretty much what trump ran on. He was going to cut government waste and cut government spending as much as possible and this is how he's doing it. It's not like he doesn't have a mandate for this

  13. It's the only way anyone could conclude Ukraine started this war. It's on par with believing Canada is refusing to turn on some water tap that exists in Trump's imagination or that Marjorie Taylor-Green's Jewish space lasers start wildfires or vaccines cause autism. It's on par with believing America is run by a stable genius.

  14. The point is, wars don't start with a single event. They didn't decide to start fights in that game just because. They had reasons. Putin didn't just wake up and push a red button that said "Invade Ukraine." He had reasons. There are two sides to every story. Don't completely discount the other side, they might be right. Don't completely discount your side either.

  17. A liar who fails to admit the lie is a liar squared. And why did you stop your (dumb-) logical progression at the arbitrarily chosen point? Let's continue, shall we? Crimea is in Ukraine, Ukraine is in Europe and Europe is on planet Earth. Putin's fleet home is planet Earth! That explains everything, right? Liar^liar.

  18. You are starting with a lie, why would anyone respecting themselves and valuing their time bother to have a meaningful discussion? Territorial integrity of Ukraine was guaranteed by four guarantor states in exchange for the abandonment of the third largest nuclear arsenal at the time. The borders of Ukraine are recognized by the whole world, except a few most grotesque dictatorships counted on the fingers of one hand (and one has already fallen). Crimea is not the "home" but in one city in Crimea certain territory was leased, with a limited term, to Russia's Black Sea fleet now severely decimated. The summary: you are a liar, unsmart (yes, there's a shorter synonym) at that as it takes just minutes to verify this at anyone's fingertips. Why would anyone bother to waste their time on such a case? Beats me.

  20. So... It doesn't matter what anyone thought was going to happen? It doesn't matter what any rational assessment suggested was possible, likely, or even worthy of consideration? And, anyone looking at or even considering these issues is a puppet by virtue of having considered them? Is the expectation that potentially hostile nations will abide by treaties the height of logical progressive thinking... I don't even recall the memorandum including NATO membership for Ukraine but you can do your own homework on that. In fact I seem to recall there being serious concerns put forward about NATO expansion. I think you should stick to sentences ending in duh / LMAO and stay far away from recruiting centres

  23. This is silly. If your position is that you must be perfect at the moment of your death... that is neither logical nor scriptural. Biblical teachings do assure us that with our faith in Christ we are saved. No where does it say we must be worried our whole life that the moment before death we had better be perfect.

  32. Not sure if you're old enough to remember but it reminds me of that Rice Krispies commercial. "What did you THINK it was made of?" This is the same. What did you THINK it would look like. If you create a hostile culture war and attack people who dare to question your trans agenda there's going to be a backlash. What did you THINK it would look like? If you practice lawfare on your political opponents, try to keep their names off of the ballot, bring endless nonsense charges against them, try to drain them of money by endless court cases then when THEY get into power they're going to look to do it right back at you. What did you THINK it would look like? If you waste endless amounts of money on creating needless beurocracy and demand gov't funds are yours by entitlement and the people paying the bills get no say, someone's going to come along and slash all that. What did you THINK it would look like? Honestly. For most sensible people this is OBVIOUS. But for the left this concept is as hard to grasp as teaching binary mathematics to a gerbil.

  37. Is it? This is what they did to Trump: They literally took out important context that painted Biden in a negative light to make Trump's answers seem incoherent. In reality, his answers were really damaging to Joe. Now watch the Kackler: She starts with an incoherent, disjointed word salad. When she finally comes around to something that sounds somewhat plausible, they cut to that. In the second clip, they edited out the parts where she sounded unsure, scared and weak to the seconds where she sounded somewhat authoritative. The evidence is there. They were editing their interviews to create opinion rather than editing them for time.

  44. You would consider it a serious threat if you knew why Hitler suddenly turned to Soviet after the Battle of Britain. Hitler turned to the east because his offensive in the west was stalled by the strong resistance from British, so he turned to an easy prey---conquering the Soviet and seizing its natural resources would make German dominance in the Eurasia indisputable and would help to bring British under his knees. Of course we all know Soviet wasn't an easy prey at all from history, but in 1941 in Hitler's mind he didn't know it at all. Now Trump‘s trade war with China is also stalled. Actually stall is an optimistic word to describe the situation. "He is losing the war" should be a more precise statement. Annexing Canada and seizing its natural resources will make US a super-superpower in the world and make US's dominance in the world indisputable, which will help him to bring China under his knees. Some Canadian may ask: We are US's allies. If they want something from us, why shouldn't just ask instead of an annexation? For understanding this, they need to understand what is the difference between cats and dogs which both we human are considered the same under the name of pets: Thousands years ago, both dogs and cats chose to live with humans, but with different status. Cats chose to be an alley of human but dog chose to be the slave of humans. This is why there are military dogs but no military cats. Just imagine: when an army guy brings his dog and cat with him to the battle field. When he suspects there is a minefield in his path and he gives an order to the dog "Go forth to see what's in there", the dog will execute the order dutifully. But if he gives the order to his cat, the cat may say: "Oh, no way. I have just seen a big rat near that tree. Why shouldn't you go forth to fight your enemy and I stay here to fight mine? "😜😂
