it's all in the mind as an instructor at Battleschool, I've seen many super fit athletic types fall to the side of the road and quit I've seen many out of shape pack a day smokers keep going no matter what we threw at them it's all about esprit de corps ; how bad do you want to be just another face in the ranks of the thin red line ?2 points

That's been a problem for years but it's gotten worse with targeted recruiting. The traditional source of input, those 7% of the population who are "ready, willing and able" have not been the targeted group for years and it now shows to the point that everyone can notice it. The waiting list for those fit, rugged, young guys who you would think are perfect candidates (and a small number relatively speaking to start with) is so long that we lose them to things like policing and fire fighting... who are also hungry. Attrition results in the loss of your best people and it never applies to fat slackers.... those careers are measured in decades. We're 16,400 bodies down right now and even catching up to the pathetic number we should never have dropped below will be a challenge that will take years. It's to the point now that I think manning new equipment like UAV/UAS and P8 acquisitions will be challenging. And from that perspective, even a sudden increase in spending to 2% of GDP would create a unique problem... it would actually be hard to spend that money now. Cool eh?2 points

That's not what he said. @blackbird Did not say he didn't believe that global warming isn't real. He said the climate plans are the biggest scam in history. And they are. I paid my carbon tax for 10 years or more and it hasn't helped a bit. The whole climate crisis call to spend money and tax the middle class out of existence is a scam. You have 10 years to get the plan right and you failed utterly. So it really doesn't matter whether or not anthropomorphic global warming is real, what is a parent is that the so-called plans to fix it are a scam2 points

Now is the time to get in on the ground floor with your predictions. We will have a new government after the June election and the CPC leadership race will be underway in the fall. Who is your wish / prediction to replace Pierre Poilievre as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. My choice would be Premier Tim Houston.1 point

U.S. controls key equipment on new warships, putting Canada in a potential 'hostage' situation over military procurement Originally the command management system of each new warship was supposed to be Canadian-made and under the full control of the Canadian government. David Pugliese • Ottawa Citizen Published Feb 14, 2025 The United States controls many of the key systems onboard Canada’s new warships, allowing the Americans to hold this country hostage over future upgrades or even the provision of spare parts, defence industry officials warn. Taxpayers are spending as much as $80 billion on a new fleet of Canadian Surface Combatants to be constructed at Irving Shipbuilding. The heart of each of the warships is the command management system, which controls weapons, radars and other intelligence-gathering equipment. Originally that high-tech system was supposed to be Canadian-made and under the full control of the Canadian government. But that was switched out for made-in-the-U.S. technology called Aegis, allowing the Americans full control and oversight over the supply of parts, modifications or future upgrades, industry officials confirm. “This is what happens when you exclude Canadian companies: You find yourself potentially being held hostage,” explained Alan Williams, the former procurement chief at the Department of National Defence. “We don’t control the (combat management) system; the Americans do. Who knows what they are going to demand from us?” Other Canadian defence industry officials acknowledged the same concerns. They asked not to be named as they did not want to jeopardize ongoing contracts with the federal government. The U.S. government already controls much of the technology used by the Canadian military, but previously that was not seen as an issue as the Americans were viewed as close allies. DND has previously been concerned about U.S. control over key defence technology. In 2010, when the Halifax-class frigates were being modernized, the department insisted on installing the newly developed Command Management System (CMS) 330. The development of CMS-330, costing millions of dollars, was financed by Canada, giving it total control over the technology, Williams said. In addition, the government stipulated that other key systems on the Halifax-class ships come from companies from Canada, Sweden, Israel, Germany and the Netherlands. When the Canadian Surface Combatant team was unveiled in November 2017, Lockheed Martin Canada, a subsidiary of the U.S. defence giant, highlighted that its proposal included the CMS-330. The firm pointed out that the maximum focus was to get Canadian content on the new warships. But, once Lockheed Martin won the contract, it dumped the CMS 330 and substituted Aegis. https://ottawacitizen.com/news/national/defence-watch/u-s-controls-key-equipment-on-new-warships-putting-canada-in-a-potential-hostage-situation-over-military-procurement1 point

You're getting to that point where you get so angry about your own stupidity and failures that you begin to lose the ability of coherent speech. And once again you misrepresent what other people have said in order to try and present your agenda. Blackbird is of the opinion that any plan that professes that it will significantly alter the climate by controlling Canadian emissions with today's technology is probably just virtue signaling. And that is certainly true. As we have discussed many times even if you wiped out all of Canada's emissions it would make no real difference. That doesn't mean that there's no such thing as a valid climate plan. It may include adoption where we invest in things and infrastructure and technology that will allow us to maximize the benefit of climate change and minimize the harm. It may involve developing technologies that will allow the major polluters to cost-effectively and desirably reduce their emissions over time. Etc etc You had 10 years and everything you did failed. You didn't take climate change seriously, at no point in time was there ever any effort made to reduce emissions seriously Or even track how effective various programs were. So let's be blunt. Even if the plan is do nothing and wait until the technology improves, it would still be a better plan than yours was and far more honest.1 point

Agreed. It's an accumulation of back-handedness. Not at all good. What's the solution? Take the high-road and hope the Libbies learn? Besides that, Trump has every right to treat the Democrats like mere noise makers. This TDS hatred is a psychosis that rots one's morality. To them, nothing is out of bounds. They justify everything with fear and accusations. Best thing I can think of...ignore them and treat them as the psychotic little sh1ts they are and hope they get the message... But I doubt they will.1 point

ROFLMAO!!! Oh my god, there is absolutely NOTHING similar between those two things in the slightest LOL Holy shit man, you've gone from bad to worse to "maybe we should send help" when it comes to your mental slide with word meanings LOL Yes, you do seem to spend a lot of time imagining what i'm doing, and it's always the weirdest stuff. While i appreciate that you're so obsessed and enthralled by me, i have to remind you that i'm simply not interested. In any case punishment by process and lawfare are very real things. but hey, i guess if you feel they're not then you wont complain when the GOP slaps a bunch of charges on AOC right? Right? Won't complain right? Wow, that's quite a look in your face.....1 point

Yeah, we don't know what is in your head, it is your inability to articulate an honest or coherent thought we can see. So far you have told us that a man with a fake vagina is a woman, so your eyes are not much to go off of. Great. You can't even defend your own stupid garbage on here... but yeah, sure, quote someone else's BS.1 point

Oh bullshit they are just raping and pillaging. They just laid off 300 members of the National Nuclear Security Administration then had to scramble to hire them back because they didn't even know what they do. Like oversea the nuclear stockpile, oversee the companies that make nukes and inspect weapons and facilities. You know, the kind of useless stuff. FFS they have given Musk a private citizen and world's richest man who donated over 250 million to Trump' campaign a carte blanche to do whatever he wants with government departments and their information. Can you really be this fvckng stupid?1 point

Just turn the lights out . Well this is the thing. The democrats have made punishment by process of your political enemies a very real thing. I expect to see a fair bit of it now that the shoe is on the other foot and whether she's put in jail or not they can make her go broke and focused on anything other than pushing forward her agenda it's still a win for them To be clear, this is absolutely terrible. This is the worst kind of behavior that we could see, and will lead to even further degraded faith in the judicial system. But the problem is the democrats have given the republicans no choice. Democrats have shown no interest in stopping this Behavior or not doing it in the future, so all of the republicans can do is hit back twice as hard and hope that the message sinks in that if they continue their behavior when they get back into power that someday the reoublicans will get back into power and return the favor again. The process does not work when only one side follows the rules1 point

I'm not surprised that Democrats are trying to block any sort of financial accountability. They are perfectly fine with tax dollars going to fund nonsense like drag story hours while the average person struggles to put food on the table. It is not just the Military. "In 2023, around 30 percent of adults aged 18 years and older in Canada were obese, while 35.5 percent were overweight. Although the percentage of overweight adults stayed about the same from 2015 to 2022, the percentage of obese adults in the same time period increased by about four percentage points. In 2023, there were around nine million adults in Canada who were obese, while the number of adults who were overweight was almost 11 million. "1 point

And, since fat people have a 20% higher carbon footprint than those who are fit, they could have accomplished more by losing weight and driving the speed limit. Somehow when it comes to emissions 1% is a life threatening number but when applied to known fentanyl deaths it's a drop in the bucket.1 point

Sorry @Black Dog but he is 100 percent correct and you've got zero room to argue here. You are attempting completely to distort what the word censorship means. This isn't even in the ballpark, it's not even a stretch. If I choose not to go spend my money to see a movie I'm not censoring the director or the actors. If I choose not to pay a company to come assess my home I'm not muzzling or censoring them. If it is censorship and evil to not let the work be done then why aren't these people doing it for free? If this isn't a commercial product why are they demanding to be paid for their time? Why aren't you funding it? Why aren't you putting up your hard-earned cash so that they can go do this research? How dare you censor these people!! You see how stupid it sounds. There's just no defense here in the slightest this isn't remotely close to censorship. There is a limited amount of resources, a certain number of proposals will be turned down every year, in fact the majority of them, and it has always been the case. The government is prioritizing where it's spending its money and that's just the way it is. You can argue that they should be researching different things or prioritizing differently but you can't for a moment pretend this is censorship1 point

Huh...they're obviously searching for those key words in government systems in order to find waste.1 point

No it isn't. Censorship Notice it says nothing about lack of sponsorship. The government isn't the only way to get published. It isn't censorship for the government to say they won't be publishing papers on these topics. It's discretion.1 point
-
Only if you use rule #5. The government does not have to use an unlimited amount of funds and resources just because someone wants to publish a paper on trans infants. If the people that did that study can find a private institution to publish it, then they are free to do it. Censorship would be preventing the paper from being published any where and threatening government action if it was. That has not happened and will not happen. As of now, the government isn't paying for those topics. End of story.1 point

Unfortunately a lot of canadians dont' care about corruption. (eyeball..... Staaaaaaaaare...) and vote the gov't in anyway. Mark Carney will march us straight into an American disaster. I can certainly see how his election could become the galvanizing event that triggers our annexation. “Cutting government spending” is such an abstract concept that does not make plain what really is at risk. What are the concrete effects of Trump’s and Musk’s vandalism on USAID? People are dying because funding for their oxygen has been cut off Nearly $500 million in food could go to waste Global health will be severely affected: Programs for nutrition, hygiene, toilets and access to clean water (which have a massive impact on TB and diarrheal diseases) have been impacted TB clinics have been put at risk HIV care, treatment and prevention to vulnerable children, have been suspended Crucial international clinical drug trials have their funds frozen It will take a massive, concentrated effort to repair the damage done to the US global reputation. Yes, China and Russia are watching.1 point
