The purpose of the notwithstanding clause is that so that courts don't have unlimited power. Courts aren't always right, given that court rulings can often contradict or overrule previous rulings, so giving them unlimited power to interpret the constitution is as silly as giving any other branch of government unlimited power to fulfill its duties. Just as an example - in 1993, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that a ban on medical assistance in dying was constitutional. They ruled the opposite in 2015, contradicting and overturning their previous ruling. Which time were they right? If the Supreme Court admits they are sometimes wrong, shouldn't there be checks on their power?

Well here is one of the more fundamental truths about the left versus the right as we know it today. The predominant feature of the left is socialistic viewpoints. Often drifting into actual socialism but I'm using the term socialistic to include left of center moderates who may not be part of the woke Revolution. But at the end of the day it's all about elevating society's needs and reducing the individuals rights. For the lefts policies to work they absolutely have to have government control over society, and the more socialistic they want to be the more they have to exercise that control. If you want everybody following the same rules and living their lives the same way and focused on doing the same things for the betterment of society, then you must control what they do and remove the individual self-determination. The more left you go the more you need to do that. Whereas the right can exist with virtually no government interference in people's rights or decisions, the government is there to protect or enforce individual rights and because everybody's individual rights are enforced society finds its own path and tends to flourish. So of course Hitler was more socialistic. He was absolutely prepared to set aside individual rights at the drop of a hat if he felt it benefited the society as a whole as far as his vision as of what the society should be like and what is goals should be. He controlled people, he controlled business, he controlled the agenda. None of this is controversial or difficult to prove and this is the inevitable result of strong left-wing governments
