Trudeau's first words every morning..... Mirror Mirror on the Wall....3 points

It's stuff like this that's going to win PP a majority. Still a year and a half away from the next (official) election campaign and he's dropping ads like this - simple, effective, says what it wants to in less than 2 seconds, true and not mean spirited - he's just relentless, giving trudeau no time at all to even catch his breath.2 points

Donald Trump filed a motion to delay his Federal trial in the E Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit, arguing that he wanted to testify but needed to first attend his mother in law’s funeral on January 17. Judge Kaplan denied the request, noting that in Trump scheduled a campaign rally in New Hampshire on January 17: https://event.donaldjtrump.com/events/45th-president-of-the-united-states-donald-j-trump-to-deliver-remarks-in-portsmouth-new-hampshire https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24360741-donald-trump-funeral-request2 points

The winningest loser has lost in court again. Donald Trump sued the New York Times and his niece over reporting over Trump’s tax fraud. The reporting lead Trump’s sister to resign her post as a Federal judge, and The Don sued the Times. The suit was dismissed because it had no merit, and under New York’s SLAPP laws, Trump was fined and ordered to pay the Times’ legal fees to the tune of half a million dollars.2 points

Gov't Of Canada's new ad: Are you unable to pay your rent? Your heating bills? Can't afford gas for your car or groceries? Call MAID at 1-800-get dead. This is the one group of civili servants in this shithole country who will work quickly, with no unnecessary red tape, to get the job done. For our new expedited service, please lay a tarp down just inside your front door.2 points
-
I think the bigger issue beyond paying is that there could be a tendency to use MAID as an alternative to our absolutely shit health care system. That, and now moving to grant permission for self-euthanasia for people who are depressed make it all too 'convenient' to offer people suicide instead of meaningful care. I read that other countries who are considering implementing MAID are now looking to Canada, and in their debates point to Canada as "how not to do it" for this very reason.2 points

Might as well get this started It's Jan 1 2024 - Election year in the states! Who's going to win? What do the polls say? Who's got the edge and who's getting hammered? What are your predictions? Lets hear your facts, your figures, your theories, your delusions (robosmith), your hopes and dreams and what you think the outcome will be as it changes between now and next november.1 point

https://archive.ph/N9v08 TLDR - young people in Canada are flocking to trump and the conservatives here at home as they become more and more angry about the dysfunction caused by the left. Some Key take aways: But the surprising popularity of Republican candidate Donald Trump — particularly among Canadian young people — may reveal a turn towards populism that is much larger than expected. Trump came in with the unusually high support of 33 per cent of Canadian respondents. That’s higher than the current approval rating for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, which the Angus Reid Institute last pegged at 31 per cent. It’s also slightly higher than the percentage by which Trudeau won his last federal election; the Liberals secured their minority government in 2021 with just 32.62 per cent of ballots cast. But probably the survey’s most surprising result was that younger Canadians were disproportionately likely to favour Trump over Biden. So much so, in fact, that young Canadian voters emerged as more pro-Trump even than young voters in the U.S. And young Canadian men emerged as the single most pro-Trump demographic in the poll. The survey saw a majority (52 per cent) of under-44 Canadian men vote Trump over Biden. This was higher even than the Trump support found within respondents who identified as Conservatives; those Canadians only picked Trump over Biden in 50 per cent of case. For months now, polls have shown that young people form the single strongest voter base for the Conservatives under leader Pierre Poilievre.1 point

Not sure he's actually lying. It may be that his cognitive dissonance is SO STRONG that anything which conflicts with his mental model of reality never gets past the eval checks because if it did, the whole model would crumble. gnat man exhibits similar stubbornness and immunity to facts.1 point

Guess what? The guy who saved America was Roosevelt. FDR prepared America for WW II despite the "America First" Republicans, who wanted us to be Nazi allies. They frequently blocked funding for critical war preparations. Roosevelt got weapons developed anyway, then he mobilized America like never before or since. We entered WW II way behind the 8-ball in 1942 and marched through the streets of defeated Berlin by June, 1945 and Tokyo in August, 1945. If the GOP was in charge, they would have been arguing which arm to put their swastikas on. That's precisely what the courts are for, if that candidate violated the 14th Amendment, Section 3.1 point

I can see many of those pro MAID politicians rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of how much tax dollars that can be saved by knocking off as many people as possible by suicide who have so many mental or physical disabilities that makes them totally unable to do anything for themselves, without some kind of assistance, asap, off the government payroll. That way, there will be more money for the government to throw away on more useless leftist liberal socialist programs and agendas that do nothing good or great for Canada or Canadians. Just my opinion. 😇1 point

OMG you're a simpleton. That entire post was a detailed description of Joe's elaborate scam to enrich himself and his family by using the VPOTUS office. It's the exact violation of the emoluments clause that its creators were worried about when they drafted it, stupid. The whole point of the emoluments clause is to prevent members of the US Gov't from using their offices as a tool [peddling influence] to enrich themselves, instead of for the benefit of the country. Joe's dealings with Shokin, Zlochevsky and Burisma had nothing to do with the interests of the American people. It was done for his own personal gain and that of his family. They set up an elaborate scheme to bilk money from the Ukrainian energy sector and you are pretending that was perfectly fine. Theoretically Joe was in Ukraine to fight corruption, but he was only taking advantage of that corruption for his own gain. That whole post illustrated: how Joe, Hunter and their financial planner schemed to get him a job at Burisma, how Joe used his office to help Burisma and its CEO get out of their legal troubles, how the CEO compensated them for Joe's help, how much he paid them, that Joe fired a prosector in Ukraine to protect the CEO, that Joe appointed a new prosecutor to get Burisma and its CEO get off the hook, how successful the prosecutor that Joe fired actually was, including the date that he won court orders seizing the assets of Burisma's CEO, which completely destroys the Dems' false narrative that "Shokin was fired because he wasn't accomplishing anything" the timeline of all the hirings/firings/and all the communications between Joe and everyone else, proof that Joe lied every time he said: "I didn't know anything about Hunter's overseas business dealings", including whom he contacted, how he contacted them, how often, and when Burisma could easily be the Ukrainian word for "How to get away with violating the US Gov't emoluments clause". Joe-> clandestine operation to enrich his family Rebound: "^^That's^^ awesome! Good for Joe!" Trump -> fails to ban people from staying in his hotel Rebound: "LOCK HIM UP!"1 point

It's painful to keep repeating it, but people need to be constantly reminded that the only reason for these attacks on Trump is because he is a political enemy to the woke left and the sleazy neocons.1 point

Ok, well I tried. 1. Because God knows what is going to happen, then that thing IS going to happen. You can't change your mind because he knows the outcome... so there can only be one. You can't by definition say "I know what this coin will fall. It will be heads or tails." Then you can't say you know the outcome by definition. 2. You don't know. You think you know.1 point

As we are seeing today, the corrupt demoncrats are trying everything within their power to try and stop Trump from running for President. They will not succeed. They will lose. Trump will be the next President of America. Believe it or not. I certainly do. And then Trump should get his revenge and go after all those scumbags that tried to make his life miserable as hell. Like Trump has said already. The corrupt demoncrats are only going after me because i am running for President. If i were not running for President, all those lawsuits and phony charges against me would never have been started. Only buffoons and fools will believe that Trump is guilty on all charges. And as some people predict and believe, the demoncrats will maybe in some way try to create a situation or emergency where the 2024 election will have to be postponed. Another Covid 19 like situation could come about to try and stop the 2024 election from happening. With the demoncrats still in power they are getting mighty desperate, and are in a total state of panic, that they will try and do anything to stop Trump from winning the 2024 election. Good luck, you demon comrades. 😁1 point

Also happened to me. No press coverage, no impact other than a few pennies in stock dividends per share to someone somewhere. Rather than all of us get angry at easy targets, we should inform each other that THAT is the game: cut costs, make owners richer so that... so that... Interestingly they don't even WHISPER "trickle down" anymore. They just use the term "the economy", to refer to a great ghost who becomes pleased when it gets bigger irrespective of peoples' lives. In the 20th century, even the centre-left used "the rich" as an even worse version of that great ghost... as a demon who wanted to exploit the little guy. That was just as disingenuous but the results were affordable homes, the 40 hour workweek, and public healthcare. "Hate the game not the player" Snoop Hardy Hardnerr1 point

I agree that transphobic isn't a great word. Right in the word root is phobia, which means fear. But ideology doesn't fit either. Finding suitable terminology seems to be a stumbling block to getting a good dialogue home.1 point

Decadence. You probably mean leftism, not liberalism. Leftism is really but a side effect of decadence. Leftism is just as destructive as conservatism can be, maybe even more so, because its goal is to destroy hierarchies, which means destroying the strong to make everyone more "equal", while also often coddling people and making them weaker at the same time, instead of empowering them. The goal of our society seems to be "comfort", which is a terrible one. Parents are raising ever-increasing generations of spoiled, entitled, coddled, and selfish people. We used to be raised to be responsible, hardworking, and independent. Oops. Side effect of decadence: we're too well-off for our own good. A society of ever-increasing weak people and led by weak people will inevitably decline and become dominated by other civilizations and we're seeing it play out. The West didn't become the most wealthy and powerful civilization in the world by embracing weakness. The only cure might be economic hardship to force people out of their comfort. The decline needs to happen before the civilization itself is extinct.1 point

Agreed, you did have trouble understanding. Efficacy is not measured by simple counting, but by incidence outcome. Apples to apples, how much does an intervention change the outcomes of incidents? Again, by your silly "logic" the fact that the number of traffic fatalities has gone up every year since seat belts were introduced means that seat belts don't save lives. The deaths are going up! Alas, it's a pretty simple concept, so if you can't grasp it, I don't think cartoon hearts will help you.1 point

Here’s a thought about the 7 years of “Trump bad” from the media. The media has become the boy who cried wolf. They’ve been waking the masses up to the realization that Trump isn’t actually that bad, and CERTAINLY better than Biden. And perhaps the possibility of a Biden candidate in November would actually be a good thing. I’ve been saying all along that there is no way Biden will make it to the election, but I’m starting to hope he does make it. He’s such a mess that nothing would help Trump’s campaign like a stumbling bumbling Joe.1 point

I think it's reasonable to say that suicide cannot be genocide But it is very concerning. While i do firmly believe that people should have the right absolutely to decide when to end their lives, even if it's not a reason i'd approve of, i see the potential for abuse. IT's very easy for someone in a position of power or authority over someone to convince them it's best. We've already seen councillors nudging military vets with mental health issues towards maid. If your medical professional whom you trust says 'Maybe it's time to end it all", that could be very compelling. People should have a right to determine when the time has come to end their own life. If we dont' own our own existence, what DO we own? People should also be protected from undue influence in ending their lives, or from bad decisions made when they're not mentally healthy. I really don't know how to circle that square.1 point

Only in your little imagination. This was one of the dumbest and easiest-to-disprove of your clueless hot-takes, so if you're compelled to keep bringing it up and derailing threads, I can keep requoting the same thing while you huff and puff and look the fool. While you cluelessly ranted about Trudeau being responsible for over half of Canada's inflation in 2022, here's what the economists actually said: a. Around 50% of the increase in inflation observed since the end of 2019 can be ascribed to global or foreign factors. These include US inflation, commodity prices and movements in the exchange rate. b. Supply challenges that largely reflect developments at the global level account for another 35% of the rise in inflation. https://www.scotiabank.com/ca/en/about/economics/economics-publications/post.other-publications.inflation-reports.causes-of-inflation--december-5--2022.html1 point
-
Nope. 🙄 Groot posted an article explaining that top economists point to Trudeau's immigration policy as making things less affordable. Those same economists also explained last year that most of 2022's high inflation was based on global factors, despite your brain-dead claims about more than half of it being Trudeau's fault. They have not revised their opinions on this, nor have I. Your clueless hot-takes are just as clueless now as they were many months ago.1 point

FOLKS, please don't believe this. Florida is the SLOWEST growing state on the planet. This place is a HELL HOLE, and NO enlightened soul from a blue state should lower himself/herself/whatever fugging gender "self" and move here. The economy sucks. You have to have a job to survive. The weather sucks. Hurricanes every other week. It's too far a drive from everything. Mosquitoes the size of eagles routinely carry children away faster than Planned Parenthood can kill them. And SCHOOLS here are unnecessarily cruel and unreasonable. The poor children actually have to LEARN what is being taught, and the subjects are those very boring academic screeds: Math, history, geographic, science, civics, art, music. It's almost IMPOSSIBLE to find a decent Lesbian Dance Theory class in ANY of Florida's inferior schools. Blue staters, STAY AWAY FROM FLORIDA. You'll HATE it.1 point
